[Q] Losing Wifi and Low speed indicator - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, was wondering if anybody had the same problems as I do, I currently have a 5ghz N router, but the speeds on the tablet are reporting only 24 Mbps at max bars. Using CM11-linaro. My laptop an every other device shows better performance, heck my roommate also has a stock gpad, which shows 72-100 Mbps at full bars. I've tried flashing my tablet multiple times, but stock only gives me great wifi. Also, after long periods of time, the wifi will cut off on the tablet and all attempts to refresh it in the settings are useless and unresponsive until I reboot it completely. Anybody have any Idea?

Wifi issue on android 2.3.5

Ok, I have seen this on 2.3.5 builds of CM7, Deck's ROM and OMFGB. What is going on with wifi on 2.3.5? It's causing some kind of wakelock apparently. Look at the right hand side of the battery graph and compare the "awake" to "wifi" time. I had my wifi to sleep when the screen turns off, so it went away when wifi was turned off. But then if I connect to wifi again with the screen off, it causes wakelock. Is this a known issue? I have tried googling and can't find anything about this. Surely I can't be the only one.
On Sense roms I can leave my wifi sleep policy as "never" and it doesn't cause any issues.
I'm using the CM7 nightly build 180 (2.3.5). I'm using Tiamat Kernel SBC. My WIFI sleep policy is set to never. It's been unplugged for about 8 hrs 45 minutes and connected to my WIFI. It's been on standby for the most part and it's at 99%.
WiFi totally unrealiable on the AT&T Atrix 2 (MB865)

I too am seeing all sorts of issues with WiFi on my Atrix2 (MB865) which is also running Android 2.3.5. As a matter of fact, I have TWO of these, because my wife got one also, and it has the same problems. To be specific, both phones will drop 128Kbps streams and fall back to 24Kbps, if the alternate slower speed is offered. This constant dropping of audio stream is the most annoying problem, but the phone also will spontaneously disable WiFi. After manually re-enabling, it can take up to a minute to reconnect to the AP (the happens at home and at work).
When connected, a speed test might show something like ~100Kbps down. But disabling and reconnecting a few times will help get it back to a good ~20Mbps down again. Sometimes when connected ad showing a FULL STRENGTH WiFi status icon, I am still not able to get any data whatsoever, just as if the WiFi is not even enabled. Examining this with WiFi Analyzer shows that it detects no AP's whatsoever, even while the status icon shows a FULL STRENGTH connection. Again, disabling/enabling can correct this issue.
Just to prove it's not my home AP, I have an old HTC Hero running a CM7 nightly build from 9/1/11 kernel 2.6.29-6 (which is also Android 2.3.5).
My old HTC Hero connects quickly/flawlessly and holds a constants steady 128Kbps stream all day without fail.
Why can't these carriers (AT&T in this case) put out a reliable Android build. I can't help it, but my paranoid mind makes me think it could be purposefully done to force customers to use precious bytes form their costly data plans. They certainly would have no incentives to make WiFi work efficiently.
Anybody got an ETA on CM7 for this phone?

[bug] Connected to LTE, after a while data connectivity gets questionable

Noticed this a few days ago and it's continued to be a problem. When I am connected to 4G LTE, initially the speed is great! But if I leave the phone unattended for a while, eventually I lose the data connection. It still shows 4G at the top, but I can't do much online. For example if I run a speedtest, I get a ping from a server that is normal (40-70ms), but the transfer starts at around 200kb/s and then freezes and errors out. Airplane mode sometimes fixes this, but usually I have to reboot the phone. Anybody else notice this problem? I searched and found a few things relevant to the LTEvo but nothing for us. FWIW I am rooted.

Wifi problems?

Is the wireless on anyone's new n7 cutting out at random? Every so often (between 5 and 30 minutes) the wifi on my n7 becomes unresponsive and stops sending/receiving traffic. Signal strength is fine, the connection never actually drops and no other devices on the network are affected. Manually disconnecting then reconnecting fixes things every time.
Stock firmware, rooted.
No problems here, have you tried toggling wifi optimization and wifi power save.

I was having a similar problem where my wifi speed would drop significantly after awhile from my normal 18-20 mbps to around 4-5 mpbs. Only after toggling wifi on and off did my speed ramp back up. This happened several times.
Then I changed the "Wifi frequency band" in the advanced wifi settings from "Auto" to "2.4 mHZ only" and the problem seems to be gone.
I had this issue before. Verify that your wireless kernel module isn't coring out. Replacing my device fixed it. Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380209

I've had this problem yesterday, I was able to find a solution by restarting my router. Now it works perfectly fine.

Slow Wi-Fi after WW_2.20.40.97_20150917 update?

I did a search and didn't find anything. I've been updating my ZE551ML and keeping it completely stock. I am on the latest update (WW_2.20.40.97_20150917) and did a Factory Reset for a clean start. I realized after setting up my Wi-Fi again that speeds are extremely slow; <20 Mbps. This is on both the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands, and even if I put it in the Performance Battery mode.
Is anyone else seeing similar and if so, did it start with this update or something earlier?
Is it because of the location? For me, Wi-Fi working normally (at least didn't affect my daily use) except for in my room which is not very far from the router. I get 3 to 4 bars wifi, but it will stop working for sometime and speed is very slow I can't even watch a video without being interrupted. If I walk out of my room, speed is back normal. It's like my room is protected against wifi

It is definitely something up with my ZF2. I have plenty of other devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network that get appropriate speeds. I'm pretty sure it also got great Wi-Fi speeds when I first got it, but this is the first time I re-checked the speeds after all of the various software updates since release, plus a Factory Reset.
FYI, after some additional testing as well as downgrading the firmware, this seems to be some sort of weird interaction between my router/access point and the ZF2.
I'm currently using the T-Mobile CellSpot (basically a ASUS RT-AC68 with T-Mobile custom firmware) in Access Point mode, and what I've been able to determine is that the ZF2 seems to be speed-limited when connected to the "normal" SSIDs (I have separate ones for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). I have configured guest SSIDs (which have Internet access but not local LAN access) and when connected to those the speeds are as expected.
Really doesn't make much sense to me since it is the same wireless radio on the router. But at least I can reproduce it definitely at this point.
Some time lag )

My ZE551 ML is also facing some issues after the final update WW_2.20.40.97_20150917. Cellular data is not working. All the buttons are working and on but arrows are not displayed and no data transfer and status says Cellular network status-Disconnected.
poor clarity in voice calls to the receiver and slow system respond with even phone book app.
Expecting a kind support ....

wifi and call issues anybody else have these ?

anybody else notice that the wifi on our a50's connect with only a single beam which means it will have half the link speeds a router usually is capable of in my case it's 72Mbps and 150Mbps on the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands respectively.
additionally the throughput of the wifi is much lower than my other devices. I do have 100Mbps+ broadband connection and from the a50 I can only strain as much as 50-70Mbps at any given time even over 5Ghz wifi.
on the other hand my note 5 and another cheap lenovo phone I've connects to the same subject network at home with full 150Mbps and 300Mbps and maxing out the throughput if I do a speed test.
I'm not sure if this is a hardware limitation or a firmware / kernel issue. but it's some what disappointing.
also anybody else notice the phone app being sluggish ? apart from the overall lag on the app one thing that bothers me most is whenever I receive a call the screen takes about 3-4 seconds to turn on so I hear the phone ringing but I've no idea who is calling and I would have to wait.
the design of the app on the call screen is rather not easy to use I still can't figure out for the life of me while ur receiving a call it goes to full screen and no way to actually ignore it and jump to another app.
please share your experience regarding these and any possible workarounds or fix.
Regards,
Yep the Phone App needs an immediate workout. The App UI is super laggy for both the incoming and outgoing calls. Both the times, the dialer UI is super late to respond. However, i have no complaints wrt to Wifi. I get full 95mbps UL/DL on 5Ghz and 75mbps on 2.4Ghz with my 100mbps connection. Its more of a Router thing.
My phone connect only at 72Mbps when I have 300Mbps N/ac router. Real internet connection is around 40-50 MB/s. This is only in 2,4Ghz. At 5Ghz is more then 200 Mbps.
There's is any way to increase 2,4Ghz speed ?
Bump.
Recently the phone app freezes for 20-30 seconds after I dial a number. This is an issue as sooner numbers are waiting for further number presses to navigate a menu and sometimes the lag is so bad that the menu times out before the app actually can respond to number pad entries.
Hanging up consistently consistently takes 20s during which time the phone is entirely unresponsive.
Update: have removed phone privileges from a while bunch of apps and deleted a few. But I think the thing that made the difference was disabling the pre-installed Facebook app. Phone is working as usual now.
