Hi im new to the nexus scene and i have some questions so pls help me if you can:
1.Can my nexus 7 32gb wifi only edition bought from america get updates when i bring it home to europe?
2.Is rooting a nexus device really worth it? because i want to keep stock rom because its stable and the only thing im changing is the kernel.
or flash stock images if they can be installed with a custom kernel.
3. Also can i root it if i update it to the latest update (Current version is JWR66N)
Thanks in advance

1. Yes you will. I imported mine from Google play store US and I receive updates in Sweden.
2. It's absolutely worth it. I have Rooted stock myself.
3. Yes I have the latest update rooted.

May I ask something as well?
For a nexus, flashing a custom kernel requires root or unlock bootloader?
What is the use of unlock bootloader on a nexus device?
I came from a sony phone and that require unlocking bootloader to install custom kernel..not so sure about nexus.

Well you need to unlock your bootloader in order to root. I think you do need to unlock. But unlocking the bootloader is super easy so I don't see a reason not to.

BE CAREFUL of updates. Newer updates change the touchscreen driver!
If the touchscreen is working perfectly out of the box, DON'T UPDATE OTA.
If it works out of the box, I would recommend not updating and/or just flashing an updated custom rom without the touchscreen updates.

My tablet automatically downloaded the update and there is a reminder in the notification bar. Is there away to remove the notification without installing the update?

You will experience ghost touches or just check it by using an apk yamtt if you have issues..i think you can return it as long as your warranty isnt void yet

I didn't use framaroot.
I used VRoot to root my Red Rice. It worked perfectly. But it's in Chinese interface.
However, once downloaded Vroot, install it and plug your RedRice in with a usb cable. Press the green button in the lower right side. It's done within 5 minutes. Really fast and convenient.
failed root

Has to. It's the only way to root new versions.
It worked. In the end it seemed the Windows driver was nog installed correctly. Apperently if you take the battery out of the phone, the flash programme could nog recognise the phone. After a correct install of the driver, it was breeze tot root the phone.

Sure, it will root just fine. First step is to unlock the bootloader and then root it. here's a great tutorial video for both. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQmfIY9AB0o&feature=youtu.be

There are supposedly two roms available for the T900, but I can't get either to run correctly. I'm fine with stock/rooted though. The only thing I don't know about is how to track when we have a firmware update & which one I could use.

Here are my specs
SM-T900
32 GB WIFI only
Android 4.4.2
Kernel 3.4.39-2634719
Build K0T49H.T900UEUANI1
Rooted using Windows 7 PC.
I used the method located at androidcentral.US by Tausif Akram, I would have posted the link but because I have not posted enough XDA will not let me.
I followed the procedures to the letter even though I know how to root devices I made sure to do EXACTLY as described in the procedures laid out on the site except for the step that tells you to start ODIN, I ran it as administrator. Everything else was followed to the letter. What I think happens to many of you is that you decide to root based on your experience and past knowledge and just glance over the steps provided and then you brick, I not saying I know this for sure i'm just guessing.
Hope this helps
I rooted mine (don't recall process, but I am sure I found it on XDA) shortly after I got it. Am running ProPlus ROM on it.
So far so good.

Hello, I was looking through the Android Development section and sadly both the available ROM's were only for the 7 inch version of this tablet, I was wondering if you have planned any development for the 10.1 inch version, I would love to see a CM or custom ROM of Lollipop for this tablet.

Hmm, tried this one on LG GPad 8.3 KK 4.4.2, didn't work sadly, it may be that I only have a VM of Windows and there's an issue with mapping COMx to ttyx in VirtualBox that I'm not at all sure how to overcome. Adb finds the device, so it's at least communicating, but when it's time to run the exploit it just stops on the download screen. If anyone knows a good way to figure out which port is "diag" on a linux box (it's easy to *map* it, just difficult to know *what* to map) please do share. I've been searching high and low for a few days, and have learned a lot, just not what I need lol. I'd rather not do a hard install of Windows if I can avoid it, but I'm fresh out of ideas. I was thinking it might be that the software updated to VK70011A from VK700, but judging from the post above this one, that's unlikely(hence the edit). Not giving up just yet, but *any* input would be greatly appreciated.

...ammend that, trashed my partition table trying to move LVs around to do a Windows install, so backed up, and just scrapped the whole thing and started over with a dual boot from scratch. NOW it's rooted right and proper, yay, I can actually use the sd card I dropped $100 on, thanks for the link, worked like a dream.
I rooted with 5.0.2 and DP-Tools. My virus scanner alarmed me, but I guess/hope it is not a real virus.
I do not have LTE, but the DP-Tools is for LG-Devices in general.
Only missing thing is xposed framwork (doesn't run in lollipop)...i would love to remove softkeys in chrome while browsing.
I have yet to get this to work on my VZW 10.1. It hangs during the download screen portion. Any thoughts would be helpful.
TIA.

The single-click root worked on my US Cellular UK410. Thanks!
Interesting. I have a 4G VK700 I just got and Kingroot works fine. There is no reason to swith superuser apps because kingroot provides plenty of features and there's nothing I have been unable to do. I put in T-Mobile APN settings and my 4g signal was on and conected after reboot. I will post my sofware version and kingroot version. I don't know why you would install an update unless it is needed to run something you have been unable to run.
Just FYI most updates these days simply lock you out from or make root more difficult to get. and they often cause hardware issues regardless of wether it is rooted or not.
