Hello, i got cheap OTG USB cable and try to connect two different flash drives, keyboard and mouse without any success. Is there any option to start OTG function. on Lenovo A850+ ??. I try USB OTG Help and Stick Mount apps, but dosent help. I read that Lenovo A850+ support OTG. Thanks in advance for help.
If your tablet supports OTG USB, it should start automatically. At least that's how it is with Galaxy and Nexus tablets. I know that Lenovo usually has their own GUI on top of Android so wonder if they use some custom driver or need something to be enabled in system setting? You better off searching XDA or AndroidForums for your specific tablet to post in that section.
Also, make sure you have a working cable. Can you try it with another tablet or the phone, just to be sure?

Hello.
I bought this USB OTG cable from Amazon :
http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00646KVBW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00.
With it, I can read USB pen drives content without any problem. It is detected as soon as I plug it and I can play MP3 files from the drive for example.
However, I'm unable to use any USB mouse / keyboard or gamepad (ICS is supposed to have added gamepad profile...), although i've seen many people doing it.
I'm using stock ICS 4.0.3 (unrooted, but that shouldn't be a problem...), I've tried to use USB Joystick Center to see if anything was detected, but no luck so far, although Videos show people even using a wireless XBOX360 controller with what seems the exact same configuration...
Did I miss something ? Is it possible that my cable only allows to use usb mass storage but nothing else ?
I hope someone has some experience to share...
Thanks in advance for your help and sorry if this has already been answered.

Bump ? Anyone ?
Do you think I should have the thread moved to the main Q&A forum ?
Thanks
The cable is fine the kernel isn't you will most likely have to change the phones kernel to enable a few other host otg options.
Thanks for your help.
Is there a way to enumerate the modules implemented in the kernel without rooting ?
I really thought stock kernel had the mouse / keyboard hid profiles...
Thanks again.

I have a demo Galaxy Note 2, which is running on the Revolution HD 8.0 rom. I flashed the following PIT file;
PIT_N7100_16GB_20121102.pit
The device works perfectly; very smooth, no FC's, the full 10.16GB of system space etc etc. However, one issue I am having is getting USB OTG to work.
When I plug in any one of my 4 USB OTG cables, I get the following;
'USB Mass storage connected'
'USB mass storage unexpectedly removed'
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? I was hoping to use my Note 2 as a portable media viewer for the photos/videos I take on my DSLR. Kind of frustrating ...
Does your device do this at all? Better still, if you have a demo version of the Note 2, does USB OTG work on your device?
Really hope someone can help,
Thanks
There is a fix for that in custom roms try wanam rom 2.8.
I think you may find the flashable mod somewhere in GS2 forum.
Good luck

USB OTG works on my device but...
Without a power source I can only see USB sticks and SDCards.
If my hard drive enclosures have an external power source that I hook them up to, then they work too. It the drive is NTFS formated then you have to use Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+ to see it.
Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I actually ordered and replaced the usb connection port, yet the issue still remains. So I am quite sure it isn't a hardware fault. I'll try and find the mod you have mentioned ...
Just out of curiosity, is there anything else I can flash beyond the pit file, the kernel and the rom? My device is a 'demo' Note 2, so I am starting to think that maybe Samsung put some other firmware file on the device that tells it not to fully mount USB OTG devices (it'd make sense to do such a thing in order to stop customers in a shop loading up their software from a USB stick).

Sir, how did you get a demo version of note 2? Do samsung sell them to? Lower price? Im interested.

I bought it from a guy who was winding up his mobile phone shop business. He had 4 of these things. The mobile phone component doesn't work - but everything else does (apart from USB OTG on my device - v.v.frustrating!).
You can find them on Ebay by searching for N7100x or N7100 demo version.
If anyone else has a N7100x, please tell me if your USB OTG works. The Wanam rom fix is for wakelocks caused by disconnecting a USB OTG device --

Yep, just flashed it using Odin....gave me 16GB instead of the usual 5.3GB that are normally visible on demo phones.

I've tried everything I can think of to get this problem sorted. I am starting to think that it is a hardware issue relating to the fact that the 3G aerial that would normally be powered/connected to the USB connector board is not attached.
As such, the USB power being delivered to USB OTG devices is higher than normal (given that there is no 3G power drain)...so it perhaps overloads and disconnects connected devices.
I have replaced the USB connector board with a hardware revision 0.2 board (the one that came with the phone was a 0.7). I have installed the following files via Odin;
BOOTLOADER_N7100XXDLJ2_422394_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CODE_N7100XXDLJ2_422394_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CSC_XEF_N7100OXADLJ2_422394_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
MODEM_N7100XXDLJ2_422394_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
t03g_0907.pit
I don't think there are any other software partitions on the phone that can be overwritten (the phone is therefore 'stock' as far as could possibly be the case with a demo phone).
If you do find a solution, I would be most grateful to hear about it. This is my perfect device for video/picture editing & uploading to Youtube whilst cycle touring (I don't need the phone connectivity when abroad). Although I can work around the USB OTG limitation, it would be incredibly useful to have that functionality.
All the best,
Laurence

Hi guys,
My galaxy nexus screen has been cracked and it does not respond in 75% of the screen.
I bought a MHL to HDMI convertor on amazon and luckily got the phone UI to show up on my TV
Now since the touchscreen won't work , I need to connect a keyboard or mouse via USB OTG and use it for navigation.
Problem is the Galaxy Nexus has only a single microUSB/MHL port combined into one.
I have no idea how to split the output from the phone to connect to a USB OTG cable and MHL to HDMI adapter simultaneously !
Any help will be appreciated,
The phone is not rooted AFAIK , but may be I'm not sure. It was running Android 4.1 JellyBean when I dropped it on the floor
The phone does show up on my Windows PC and I have copied the photos off it. But I still want to copy contacts and SMS messages.
You tried just using something like Android Screencast from the PC (USB debugging is needed)
Also, some MHL adapters have a USB port in them, for power. Have you tried getting a crude micro USB splitter? Like this one? http://www.replacebase.co.uk/micro-usb-female-to-2-x-micro-usb-male-splitter-2392-p.asp#.URk59JGYOBs
Not guaranteed that would work though. Also, a quick google of what you want brings up some others with the same issue, have you tried to see if any of them have succeeded?

Good news
I had a spare galaxy nexus in the office and I gently took the screws of both the devices , and just swapped the displays so that I could quickly turn on usb debugging , backup essential stuff and also turn on bluetooth.
Thanks to some assembly videos on youtube ! will share some pics soon
Firstly, is it worth getting a USB OTG cable? What can you use it for? Do you have one?
Second, which one should I get for the Galaxy Nexus? I've seen these two:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Con...=1365625468&sr=1-2&keywords=samsung+otg+cable
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Micro-Cable...qid=1365625284&sr=1-23&keywords=usb+otg+cable
Which is better? Is there any difference? Appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Python.
First you have to get the app called Stick Mount if you want to use usb flash drives. But the OTG cable can be used for a lot of things, keyboard, mice,
usb flash drives. I've seen a youtube video where the guy uses a hub and uses all 3.

I was going to get the Nexus Media Importer. But, which cable should I get?
I have a generic usb OTG.
I have successfully used a mouse, usb flash drive, keyboard.
The only thing I couldn't use was my CDMA internet stick.
If that would have worked then it would have really been awesome!

How much can you do using USB OTG with an unrooted Galaxy Nexus? Most importantly, can you use a memory card reader to copy files from the memory card to the phone or use it to upload the files to Dropbox?
I'm asking on behalf of my sister. I don't have access to her phone so I can't simply try it out. I know USB OTG works great on my rooted Galaxy SIII but I've never had a Nexus device.

As of 4.2 there is native support for USB OTG on the Galaxy Nexus so you don't need any third party app. You can use it without root USB device is mounted as /usbdisk. Try X-plore from the Play Store which shows a separate drive for the USB device you have connected.

See if there's an option in settings>storage as Mount USB storage, if not there use an app such as stick mount or USB OTG helper. Even for using those apps the phone should recognize when a storage device is connected, the pen drive/card reader should light up.
If option is there and still not mounting then any of your devices may be improper check your OTG cable with other phones, your pen drive/card reader.
Clean the contacts of cable and your USB device. Best way to confirm working is to boot to recovery and connect, USB storage is always mounted in recovery mode.

Any decent file explorer should also be able to see mounted storage, especially given 4.2. You may have to browse to root and poke around until you find the appropriate /mnt folder, but set a bookmark (your explorer supports bookmarks, right?) and that should be all she wrote. StickMount is also great for me.
OTG has been really helpful for playing media off of the occasional flash drive, and while using a mouse isn't all too helpful, playing with a full keyboard can make for a surprisingly good experience.
As the thread title states, I want to find out if the Wileyfox Swift support USB OTG? I have tried attaching a USB flash drive via the cable that used to work with my One Plus One that I had, but it does not respond when connected to the Wileyfox Swift. Any ideas? Thanks for any help!
Ill test it in 15 mins and get back to you.
I think I might have used OTG via TWRP recovery, but don't know about the ROM
Thanx for checking this. It would be great if there's a way to get this to work but I also wouldn't be surprised if the phone cannot support OTG.
It doesn't look like it is configured for OTG. It might be changeable via a custom kernel going by Chainfire's USB Host app.
I did not try the 'fix' in the second app as I don't have a current backup.
It might also not work because you have a wrong OTG cable since many microUSB cables won't work with the Swift
You might want to try using externally powered usb hub or Y shaped OTG cable to power the flash drive. I don't have any at the moment to try. Most likely it will turn out that the microUSB on the phone doesn't have the wiring to provide power (as it was for Nexus S but can be used if powered externally).
Maybe anybody can make OTG support in kernel and it will work with Y cable like on Nexus4?

Thanks for the update. As I stated in the beginning, I am not surprised that Wileyfox Swift doesn't support USB OTG. It's still a good phone despite this omission.
While the kernel that comes with it does not support USB-OTG, it is not impossible that a kernel with support could be built. The APIs are there, they just need instructions to call them.
I'm not too fussed about it, if it had no portable SD card support I would be annoyed, but having the card allows much of the usage cases of USB-OTG.
