[Q] What is this button at the top of the notification drawer? - Paranoid Android Q&A

Hi all,
I apologize if this has been documented somewhere but I've tried searching the forums and various PA youtube videos to figure it out, with no luck so far.
What does this button (pictured below), do?
Thanks!

That enables hover

Thank you!
At first I thought it had something to do with auto-closing the drawer after swiping away the last notification, but that didn't seem to be the case.
I'm not sure if this is PA style, but perhaps a popup or toast notification the first time the user presses this button to give them an idea of what's going on?

[Q] Status bar behavior, AOKP 4.2.1

Hi,
when i pull down the status bar in AOKP MR1 (4.2.1) i see the quick settings panel if there are no notifications active, and not, as in stock 4.2, the notification drawer(or panel, don't know how to call it).
I'd like to have the stock behavior, so that i can pull down the status bar and ALWAYS see the notification drawer. Is it possible with a simple method? I tried looking in the settings but didn't find any option for this.
Thank you.

You will have to post this on the developers thread. You will not find an answer here most likely. I hope they can help you there!
go in rom control or status bar toggles and make sure you have some toggles enabled then they should show up, hope this helps

Thank you, but the point is I just want the status bar to show me either the notification panel OR the toggles panel when i pull it down (i'd rather to have always the notification panel). It's a bit confusing that you don't know what's going to be shown when you pull it down..

Eh, even though I'm quite flashaholic and spend a lot of time reading on xda, i seldomly post, and unfortunately i still have to reach the 10 posts limit to be able to post in dev threads.
On the other hand, I'm the living proof that xda search button actually works

You should try nova launcher. You can set it to open the taskbar when you swipe down on the home screen.

You have to long press the notification in your drawer not on the hover notification.
We have no hover settings.
What specific Paranoid Android settings do you think you need? All the options are logically located where it makes sense for them to be.

Well, the peek app has a nice way of being able to specify the blacklist. would be nice if that model was available somewhere in the PA ROM.
(still learning)

My issue (I think like the one above) wasn't that there were apps that couldn't be blacklisted, but rather just couldn't figure out how to add an app to the blacklist. I was also making the point that I had such n issue discovering how to blacklist an app when I used the peek app on my previous Un - paranoid rom.
sorry if I wasn't clear.

How The Heck Can I Disable The On Screen Buttons?

I never thought that it would be this much of a pain to disable the sodding on screen buttons on the Pixel. This thing alone is making the otherwise excellent experience of it rather moot. I can't stand this thing.
I have tried the GMD Auto Hide soft keys app, but it doesn't work on 7.1.1. Then I tried the All In One Gesture app, it did hide the on screen buttons under some immersive modes but then there is no proper Pie like control in that app, making the point moot for me. Then I found LMT, which gives back Pie but no way to hide the on screen buttons. I have given up at this point.
So is there a way? Or do I have to wait until Xposed is released for 7.1.1 and then use the Gravity Box's Pie Control?
WETA ROM. You can choose no nav bar during install, and then use LMT.
^^^
Weta ROM, DU ROM.
GMD does work on 7.1.1. However, many GMD users like me abandoned it for one reason or another. One, the keyboard has to regain focus. Two, it doesn't work in some apps. Three, in some apps, it simply hides the nav buttons, but the bottom row blank, still wasting a row of space.
Thanks guys but I really want to stay with the stock ROM. I guess waiting is the only option now.

I'm in the same boat I want to get rid of the hideous soft keys. The build.prop suggestion from the Nexus line did not work ? some developer please help us!
The moment Xposed is available I'm gonna install the GravityBox and then use that Pie Control, which will make the soft keys go away for good. But till then no option it seems, or probably with the help of 2 apps.

Someone please confirm whether this works or not, read somewhere that it creates some force close issues or something, but if those are false reports would REALLY like to know.

Not trying to be a wiseguy, but why don't you just try it out and see? If it doesn't work, change it back. No biggie.

I can see someone's reluctance. Let's say it only works "half-way", the nav buttons are removed, and he gets errors in an app. Without nav buttons, he can't get back to the home screen to revert his changes. That may be the main reason I activated "OK Google" so I can still run apps by voice when I play around with the nav bar.

Those error will remain after I install a Pie control app like LMT or something?
Just did the build.prop edit, it did the job fine of making the on screen keys disappear, LMT worked fine too, but there are just too many system FC messages! Not possible to use as it is.

Are the FC messages from disabling the nav bar or from the LMT. Sorry if I misunderstood you, I'm just trying to get clarity.

Have to be from the missing nav bar because apps look for interactions from those buttons. There has to be a graceful error trapping logic to handle the disappeared buttons. In other words, you can't simply yank them.

Nah for that missing nav bar or whatever the hell its called. Adding that line is the reason, not LMT I am sure. But you could try that and see whether the same is happening to as well or not.
I can't wait for Xposed to release for 7.1.1. I don't know whether burn in already happened or not, but mental burn in for me definitely happened in these short three days of usage, other than the fact its an incredibly stupid thing to have on a phone.

If you "can't take the chance of having a bootlooping phone", then you shouldn't be making ANY modifications to your phone. Even if you're using mods that are proven to work, what happens if you make a typo? You're taking the chance of having a bootlooping phone.

Thanks for confirming it's not LMT.
Don't agree with you about the latter part. I have been modifying stuffs on all phones I use, simple stuffs, installing this and that Xposed module, testing them, never once I had to face any boot looping issue, ever. Never did edit anything build.prop though.
Thanks for your concern though.

Why are the icon badge notification previews gone?

Anyone notice that when you long press icons with notification badges on them you no longer see the notifications just the shortcuts?
I really enjoyed the ability to long press icons to see a notification description that I could click to access or swipe away. The one thing Android did way better than iOS. Now when I long press I just see shortcuts meaning I have to go in the app and sometimes I don't even see what the notification is for. This is really disappointing.
Anyone know when this functionality disappeared? Or did I change something in my settings by mistake? Is there a way to get this functionality back?
I'm using the s20 ultra SD with the one UI launcher if that helps.
Any help would be appreciated.

My Savior! You my friend are a prince among men. Thanks a million.
I recently did a factory reset to start fresh because restoring from a Samsung backup made my battery pretty awful. I totally forgot about that settings.
Thanks again.:victory:

Question |REQUEST| Feature request!

Just like the OnePlus phones has double-tap back button for notifications, do it again for quick settings....
Can someone make a mod for that?
I'd more than likely start a bounty!
