[Q] wont turn on after CF-Auto-Root - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

SM-PM605 HK
A few days ago I decided that I really dont care about Knox and decided to root.
Had just upgrade to 4.4.2.
So, as with Galaxy phones, I went straight to CF-Auto-Root.
As it is known by now, I got the Zebra screen rebooting issue.
No problem, I downloaded a stock firmware to reflash recovery.
The download was taking forever, so I left it to the next day.
As expected the tablet discharged the battery.
Now it wont turn on again.
When plugged in, the Samsung logo (and the battery icon) does not shows up.
Try to charge for a few hours to make sure that there is some battery.
Also trying some combinations of power/vol/pressing/releasing buttons.
Nothing at all.
Found "similiar" problems related to tab 10,1 here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1/359231-tab-10-1-will-not-turn.html
Didnt work either.
Samsung assistance here is worhless, so I am better on my own (with xda help).
As the zebra screen keeps rebooting into recovery, I suspect that it does not give a chance for it to really charge/turns on the charger) and this is a simple out of battery issue.
Any ideas?
-rsd

I tried to update my note 10.1 as well to 4.4.2 And then root it.
I have the same issue. Straight into recovery then zebra screen. And this keeps looping. No way to get into download mode so far.

It seems that it needed to be unplugged for some hours.
After that, when plugged back on it resumed the zebra sequence.
In order to get to the flash screen, power + vol down has to be pressed down exactly when the device reboots, not before. It seems that the boot needs to detect the transition event.
Thats the problem with the timing most people will get.

If you have a usb dongle from the old S2 days that allowed you to get to download mode, it still works on the Note 10.1... Easier than trying to time just right...

Whats this dongle. Or how do I get it?

I've ordered one from ebay. Hopefully it works.
There's no way I can get the timing right to put it into download mode.

Something that works too is holding the power button and just switch the volume down.
I tried with .5s down release and press down for .2s and again hold for .5s until it switch to download mode.
It worked every time.

[Q] My phone is dead..... help

So I did a Root 101 No No... In a sleepy state I decided to flash my T-Mo galaxy S2 without doing a system wipe..... smh...smh. As a result I brick my phone. However, in a way I've never seen before. Is there anyone out there that can help???
Here the problem:
Phone does not turn on. (No sound, nothing on the screen)
Phone does not respond to 3 button press. (No vibrate and can't get into clockwork)
Phone does not connect to usb port. (it contently connects and disconnect)
As you can see this is a BIG problem and its left me stump. Before I declare this phone as a shiny paper weight I leave my hope in you guys.
Thanks for the help
What is the three button press? To get into recovery I hold power and volume down. Also check if you're in a boot loop
Edit: also what ROM did you flash

I meant the volume and power buttons. I don't think I'm in a loop because the phone give me no type of feedback. no light, sounds or vibration. When connected to power outlet there's no change. took out the battery for about an hour, no change. used a different usb cable, tried to load into Odin. Nothing.
The only thing the phone does to show that something is going on is when I plug it into my pc. At that point it shows a device has been connected but then disconnect right away. It keeps doing that as long as the phone is connected to the pc.
Also I was coming from CM 10.0.0 to aokp_d2tmo_jb-mr1_build-4

Probsbly you are trying to get in recovery mode in proper way, just to confirm, first you have to press vol low and up button, keep holding it and then press power button. few sec later it will vibrate, release power button but keep holding vol up/down. Samsung logo will come and then it'll enter in recovery mode.
Just wanted to make sure as sometime people get hard time to get screen shot by pressing keys.

Phone shuts down in 5-10 seconds in ANY mode

Stock rom, Rooted/CWM.
The phone boot loops, cannot boot into ROM anymore.
I'm not sure what caused this problem as it just randomly happened from charging and doing nothing...
It's extremely difficult to get into recovery mode, but when I do, I can't do anything as the phone will automatically shut itself down with seconds to spare.
Download mode is the same, I have anywhere from 5-10 seconds to do anything before it shuts itself down...I have tried to quickly ODIN v5 recovery with success, but this did not fix the problem.
I have tried different batteries and plugs with no luck, same problem.
I took the phone to Sprint, and they said they won't fix it because the phone is Rooted...I'm not sure what they did exactly, but the phone DID boot into the ROM before once again, the phone shut itself down and I was unable to boot into the rom again...it appears that Sprint may be able to fix it, but they won't because it's rooted, and I don't have enough time to spare to unroot the phone via ODIN before the phone shuts itself down.
My next step is to buy and try a USB Jig, does anyone have any idea what may be the issue or how to fix this issue? Is this a hard brick? I've been working with android since G1 through various phones over the years and have never seen a problem like this before, some strange one's, sure, but never anything that I couldn't figure out and fix.

I had this happen to me a few weeks ago. I returned to stock by running Odin . the way I got it to stay on was to repeatedly press the power button. About 3 times per second. And it stayed on. I figured that the button was stuck and would reboot after 10 seconds. Try pressing it really fast and see if it boots up

Wow, what the hell? By doing what you said, the phone was actually able to boot...but if I don't constantly keep pushing the power button, it will still shut itself down, so what would be the next step? How can I fix this issue?
Do I constantly push the power button while I try to navigate triangleaway to reset counter/ODIN unroot? Is there no way to fix this on the software end or does it need to be repaired physically or?

So first. Power down pull battery. Next boot into download mode. (Make sure to keep pressing power button repeatedly) then connect to PC and Odin back to stock . ( keep in mind that during the restore process make sure you keep pressing the power button hard. again and again. Lol) it won't shut off and wait until the whole process finishes, then take it back to sprint or call *2 from another sprint phone. I did exactly this and got a free replacement. The power button is jammed

[q] at&t s3 dead

I was rooted with CM10.1.0 and was casually using the phone until it randomly turned off. I turned it back on and the only thing that happened was the "Galaxy SIII" screen flashed and turned off again. I popped out the battery multiple times to be welcomed with the same problem again. I can't boot into Download or Recovery at all. Anyone know how to fix this? (btw im on AT&T SGH-i747)

Please don't provide false or miss leading information.
To OP. Fully charge your battery or use another one if its corrupt.
Try booting up into both recovery or download mode using the proper combination.
Use this guide to get your phone fully working again.

In some instance (very rare) your phones hardware can malfunction, but seeing how it still boots up I doubt its that's.
Follow my guide and you should be fine.

What about with it plugged into the charger and try to get to download mode. I thought I bricked my s2, took the battery out but it stayed on. Thought it was possesd bit it was plugged in to USB.
Can't hurt to try.
Definitely recommend download mode with cable plugged in to computer. Are you sure recovery doesn't work while plugged in to power?

Yep. It just loops on the splash screen. I'll try charging it to full and repeating your solutions. (It died off at 80%, very strange). Thanks for your replies though!
Ok guys, seems that my issue isnt the phone being bricked. I left the battery out all night and popped it in the next morning. CM loaded just fine. However after about 10 seconds of it loading, the power menu flashed, i clicked cancel, and then it immediately shut down again, and the usual problem continued. Any thoughts? (btw the phone died at 80% battery the first shut down it had, right now it should have been nearly 100% after charging) Also, connecting it via USB doesn't help at all. Sometimes the blue recovery words flash when i try to boot into recovery, but nothing happens after that.

It could be a bad battery. Might also be the battery contact points. Worse case is something is wrong with power channels on the Mobo. If it is the last then you will have to warranty the phone if you're still covered. I would borrow a battery first to rule out whether or not it is the battery itself.

The power button seems to operate normally, but that could also be one of the things that are causing problems. Once i find someone nearby with an S3 battery i'll see if it's actually a battery problem (most likely the case).
I'd thought i'd mention this as well, whenever i pop in the battery, the phone vibrates and tries to turn on, but doesnt actually do it. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? power button maybe, but battery?
If the battery out all night boots past the splash screen maybe you could, if you haven't, leaving it out and first thing try download mode. I've been in bad spots but this pretty crappy. Probably to technical for me but Good luck. Let us know how you do if none of the posts help.
Found the problem. The power button is always acting as if it's being pushed down when it actually isnt. The phone starts up perfectly when i hold the phone horizontally with the power button facing down. then when i put it back into portrait mode, the power menu flashes, and its turns off. any knowledge on how to fix this then?

Note stuck on endless reboot :( won't enter recovery or download mode

I was using my phone normally today and it suddenly died on me and rebooted. Now it won't boot at all and it's stuck on the Galaxy Note II N7100 logo and it'd die out again and then show the Galaxy Note II N7100 logo again, never reaches the samsung boot up logo even. Pressing volume buttons for recovery mode does not work at all, it just keeps on rebooting. Pressing for the download page works but if you press volume up or volume down or do nothing even for a few seconds it reboots again!
My battery was at 60 percent prior to this and I was not doing anything at all. I was using Wanam's rom with adam kernel + s4 theme for two weeks now with no hitch.
Another weird thing about this whole thing is that if I pop the battery at the back it automatically boots up without me having to press any buttons. I've tried EVERYTHING now and I really hope my phone did not just die on me. Charging the phone sorta works but Im not to sure because I have a feeling it reboots without having any actual charging done.

HOLY COW YOU'RE RIGHT!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!! It works now after one hour!
Should I sell my phone now before it goes bad or do you think this is just a random occurance?
You probably hit the power button without knowing it and got stuck. This could be just a simple occurance. Or it got damaged in which case you have to change the power button contact. Not easy but it can be done.

Was doing some research and some people have also experienced this when they accidently dropped liquid unto the power button. I was washing my case awhile ago and there's a remote possibility that this happened albeit only a little. After I got it working it only happened once again and it's been working perfectly since.
I was getting really frantic awhile ago because I really needed my phone at that time lol

[Q] just want to confirm if this is hard bricked

So I bought 2 sgh-t989 at the same time... one for me and the other for my sister
she lives in another city but whenever we see each other, I've always tried to make sure that her phone is running the exact same setup as mine just so I can always provide "tech support" for her phone
anyway, she went on some trip and afterwards, she said her phone wouldn't boot up anymore
since she couldn't get a hold of me, she brought her phone to a store to try and get it fixed (bad bad mistake)
she left the phone at the store for a day to determine how much it would cost to fix it
after being quoted $100 for the fix, she decided it was too much to pay and just took her phone back
long story short... a week later, I finally have the phone in my hand... and this phone won't boots up, i've put in fully charged batteries and when I press (and hold) the power button, it does absolutely NOTHING... not even that initial vibration when it boots up
i've tried to plug it to the computer and it doesn't get recognize
its permanently off and i can't, for the life of me, figure out just how to even boot this thing into TWRP... just so I can attempt to recover her files
SO.... my question... is this truly bricked?
do I have to break the news to her that all the pictures she took on the trip is now unrecoverable?
plug it into the computer and see what it gets recognized as. if its qualcomm823830283203 some like that its hardbricked

I bricked my S2 last Saturday night, just got it back form Jtag service. Took a week and 28 bucks from the ebay vendor that performed the service.
Now that my phone is back to stock, can anyone help me to load TWRP again. I have odin, latest USB drivers, and TWRP for my phone...but cant seem to get to the ODIN restore screen on the phone.
Volume Up, down, left right, left right, A, B Start. Oh wait I think that was for contra.....
Please help to get me to the Odin load on phone.
I can then flash TWRP thru odin, get to TWRP and load my favorite ROM.
Any GURUS, Please confirm that this is right. I remember a complicated process when rooting initially, loading root file on SD card, similar process up down ect....
But since the rom I am flashing is already rooted, is it required to go thru the gyrations. cant I just flash TWRP and flash a rooted rom?

I want to know if my phone is bricked, its a Samsung glaxy sgh-T898 (but from telus) i am using a cynagenmod custom rom 10
i was using it then it went idle then when i went to unlock it back, it shut off and started to repeatedly vibrate like a pulse
so i then did a battery pull and then it vibrate and the "Samsung sgh-t898 logo appeared" for a sec or 2 and the phone shut back off and did the pulsing vibrating thing
i got the same result when i plug it into the charger and computer, even plug it in without the battery in it and pulsing vibrating happen again.
ps this had happen in the past but the phone came on like after 5 mins of, its now been hours it wont come on just keep vibrating

i was using it then it went idle then when i went to unlock it back, it shut off and started to repeatedly vibrate like a pulse
so i then did a battery pull and then it vibrate and the "Samsung sgh-t898 logo appeared" for a sec or 2 and the phone shut back off and did the pulsing vibrating thing
i got the same result when i plug it into the charger and computer, even plug it in without the battery in it and pulsing vibrating happen again.
ps this had happen in the past but the phone came on like after 5 mins of, its now been hours it wont come on just keep vibrating

looks like the sticky power button. First try putting compressed air on your power button. then resort to this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931310

Thanks for replying so quickly , i think you might be right about sticky power button, because when put in the battery the vibrates begins
automatically and then i try turn on then hold the power and volume keys it entered into download menu but for 2 secs then shut off again and begin to start vibrating(pulsing again)
so i guess the download menu means its not brick, will try suggestion once i get a proper torque screw driver
