As far as I know, there are no free methods to sim unlock xperia M. But, you can find quite many services online that can unlock it, you need to pay though.
Let's not discuss about those services because it is against the forum rules.

I bought a Xperia Play from the marketplace a few months ago thinking it would work with T-Mobile USA, and when I put my sim card in it the phone gives me a message saying "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network" I am thinking the phone is still locked? If so I can't figure out what network it is locked to. Does anyone know what might be the problem?
Is it an R800i or an R800a? There is no "i800a."
That said, all R800a and R800at phones are SIM locked and ineligible for the Sony Ericsson bootloader unlock. You can pay about $24 to some guy online who can do both for you and retain the DRM stuff that the official Sony Ericsson BL unlock throws away for good.
Okay here's the deal, I just bought myself an Xperia Play r800a locked to Telstra (Australia) and after using an unlocked Galaxy ACE for over a year switching to the locked bootloader on the play is extremely restricting. Now I've read about the whole testpoint unlock and everything, I've also looked at the official unlock although at the same time I learnt that this does not work for the r800a so what I'm wondering is will a carrier unlock allow for a bootloader unlock on the phone or...?
I did purchase a sim unlock code although I won't have this for another week or so and I still have time to cancel the order so I really need to know if I need a testpoint unlock or will carrier unlock fix this? Please answer and If a TP unlock is required is there a free method? Or can anyone recommend a good unlocker for me please?
Thanks!
I have a r800a and the only way the bootloader can be unlocked is via testpoint method, which unlocks sim also.
Its a paid service, cost about as much as a simunlock
I used omnius to unlock mine. Took about 5 minutes

Okay cool thanks, and this just involves them controlling the computer and me connecting test points right?

Contact Jinx13 on the forum. Remote controls and its fast.

Okay I contacted Jinx13 and I was wondering, assuming I use a sim unlock it is still possible to use the TP unlock for the bootloader in the future isn't it (I know it is a waste of money for both as the TP unlock does unlock the sim although I'm not confident with the testpoint...)
alejandrissimo can unlock every phone:0
very fast and works very good

I just want to make sure of this before I purchase credits with them,
Mine is a R800A bootloader unlock allowed :no
with rogers in canada, When I look at the Omnius site it only describes them as R800.
supporting msm7x30
When I look at sony specs it describes R800A as msm8 platform .
I'm rooted and running CWM on 2.3.4
I want my bootloader unlocked don't care if the sim happens at the same time , and would prefer to retain all data and drm keys
Can this be unlocked by Omnius or do I need alejandrissimo to do this for me?

It is possible to use Omnius to unlock your phone. I have the same model and used their service to unlock my bootloader via TestPoint.

While I have the attention of someone with experience in the test point method, maybe you can clarify somethings , I have done quite a bit of research into this and there are no good pictures or descriptions for the testpoint procedure with omnius method, I have found pics of the home made set of points used with the S1tools method (the safety pin and wire) where they mention wraping the wire around the outer shield of the USB cable as ground, then joining testpoint to the negative pole for the battery.
Omnius as far as I've been able to gather just says to use the metal sim card shield as ground. Not very descriptive on there part.
Just hoping you could give me a heads up to the actual process, so I'm properly prepared . Thanks

Guess I lost your attention, it's ok though, I found a really good description (on another site) sacrilege I know.

Haha, I had not checked the forum in a while. Did you get to unlock your bootloader?
I used a paperclip for testpoint. If you still need help, maybe I can take some pictures later today... or maybe I find the tutorial that I followed when I unlocked mine :silly:
Yeah just finished a minute ago. Just need to start flashing.

I found my xperia ion on e-bay and it is locked.
1.st question: Can be unlocked with code and use it in Europe gsm network?
2nd. question: If i unlock bootloader, and root, and instal some international custom rom will i unlock network?
1. Yes but good luck getting a code right now as AT&T isn't giving them out.
2. Unlocking bootloader doesn't unlock network (at least not officially) and flashing an international rom has no effect on similar lock status or not.
You'd have to try some of the unlocking services around. There is a thread about unlocking already on the ion forums here at xda. Look at that thread for info.

He was offering it using ezSEMC and it was unlocking the sim and changing the bootloader unlock allowed flag for people even though he said it didn't.

I bought an used AT&T Ion in Canada from Kijiji and I'm stuck with it. The guy who sold me the phone knew it cannot be unlock but too bad I didn't do a research before I paid him my hard earned money. And I dont want to sell and scam people around saying this can be unlocked. Hopefully it will be possible in the future and then I will either sell it or give it to my budy.

AT&T usually requires 90 days after the phone was released before they should offer unlock codes just like they do with everything else which is coming up soon if I remember right. Also gotta remember if you want a sim unlocked phone buy a sim unlocked phone not one on a contract. Some people claim to have gotten a code from AT&T but others were told no.
I had bought one from ebay, unlocked LT28i prise is 500$ + , I will try cellunlocker unlock prise is 40 $

Unlock for Xperia ion now available.
Check this thread

Thanks
Also one can try www.freeunlocks.com here select your phone model and then go for the "Get it free" option it will ask u to buy something buy the cheapest product which u may never wanna use. And they send u the unlock code or refund in case the unlock code does not work.
I have tried it for a samsung phone before it was available on ebay and got it very cheap. I want to try it again for my Xperia Ion but it does not allow me as there is no product with free trail option which can be used in India.
So guys try it and let me know. Also would like someone to help me with the unlock code if you are successful. Below is the link for Xperia Ion

1. a regular mini sim will work, you dont really need the micro sim adapter..
2.Yes you can unlock it, but you'll have to pay.. I used electrofrance on ebay, but there are other alternatives in this thread..
my phone is unlocked now
I bought this phone from walmart and tried to get Sony Xperia Ion LT28AT Unlock Code from At&t but they refused to me by saying that i m not the original owner of phone and as per them policy i m not eligible to get At&t Sony Xperia Ion LT28AT Unlock Code then found attphoneunlockingshop.us site and sent them request, Code worked like a charm. now my phone is unlocked and using with T-Mobile . Cheers !!
I've checked many threads but they were all very old, I want to know if now there is any way to sim unlock an Xperia S for free. Thanks
