It looks like HTC has heared us...

Problems Immediately
It doesn't work with my ROM which is 1.19.401.0 WWE
can maybe someone look into that? There were no new ROM updates, HTC says that WWE ROM is 1.19.479.0
Is there any info that goes with this?
Where did you find it?
htc official site. look ati it, but many are having the same problem challenger150 describet, me too. I agree with the one who said that they must have done it in a hurry, and so f****d up something with the version numbers.

Wow, my ROM is 1.14.161.5 - does that mean I have a really old version?
I have a Vodafone version and I got it just one week ago
i get the error message " This hotfix is not compatible with your device." on 1.19.404.0 (51489) NLD (dutch)
on the HTC homepage i see that this is for 1.19.404.1
yup, same here.
Solution for you
It is just an exe wrapper around a cab file.
To bypass the exe you just have to extract file's contents with winrar
and then recreate the cab file.
to install you can simply click on the cab you've just created
..and you're done

You also could simply extract the .exe, then rename the files according to the setup.xml and then copy the files into the \windows folder.
The point is, that these files are officially been made for a ROM-version I don't have on my phone (I admit, it couldn't be found anywhere either) and there have to be a reason for this.
I would not like to have to hardreset my device now if anything messed up.
I think I'll wait for the next information from HTC to come. Maybe they'll come up with a hotfixed hotfix ( ) or a new ROM version
First, Linox, you are genius. Followed what you said and got the info that phone is updated.
Second. I have one question which is more rhetorical than realistic. I believe that me, as well as other TP2 owners gave a lot of money for it (expect those who got it in poker game or similar ). The question is how is it that a phone which costs like 3-4 other (samsung, sony, blablabla phones) gets hotfixes that don't work? Why are Hotfixes necessary? How hard it is to give 100 phones to real HTC users and wait for respond from them? They would definitely see that there are some errors which NEED to be fixed before launching the phone. HTC is not a new company. They exist for at least 8 years now. They should know how phones should be made.
Finally, I got my phone from Frankuft airport a week after official release. The price was around 900 Eur. I believe that you guys paid something similar. More or less. How is it that a phone that should be Iphone killer (and it definetly looks like one) has more problems than that stupid Iphone? Do HTC guys have money to buy other phones and look how some things are made? Why do I have to read so much about entering registry, changing it and modifying it in order to make my phone work normally? I mean, all of you guys who do it and play around with your phones to make ours work THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I APPRECIATE IT A LOT. Maybe HTC should consider paying you to test their phones and make updates.

Would you be so kind to share your selfmade .cab file with us? So not everybody needs to install a .cab-maker and mess with the files for himself
According to your "rhetorical" question:
I believe you cannot test everything and everywhere. Even with 100 testers some users will experience other "issues". I state, that the best solution for this is a flexible and fast support -and this is where HTC sucks.
As soon as some users come up with a problem, HTC should work on the solution and come up with a fix as fast as possible.
The SMS-problem is know for long now and 1 1/2 months later they come up with a hotfix which does not work -too little, too late.
Overall, I have to say, the TP2 is a very stable and fast phone, considering the fact that it's Windows Mobile. Just think about the Blackberry Storm my girlfriend owns: 4th firmware update and still buggy as hell. Or think about the Nokia N95: years of experience in building phones and they release such a sleazy and buggy piece of crap for an large amount of money.
The SMS bug of the TP2 is bad but you can still use the windows-messaging so it's half as bad as it could be.
Hehe, think about the bugs that will come up when the first 6.5-ROM is released
LOL!!!
I don't even want to imagine that. Comments like "I bricked my TP2" and similar. That will be interesting definitely, and yes, you are right. Maybe 100 users wont solve anything but how is it that other phones don't have such problems or as you mentioned problems are solved but MUCH faster.
And finally, I placed the .rar file on rapidshare. You can download it, place it on phone memory or storage card and run. In second or so you will get info that operation has completed successfully.
I hope I did it right as explained in previous threads.

Dont forget to soft reset your phone
By the way, I tested it by sending 3 messages to my own number. The thing works and I didn't received strange information from operator that this phone number doesn't exist.

You cannot test this by sending a message to your own number. The first replay to a number will always work. only when you send a 2nd, 3rd, etc. message, it will go wrong. When you are sending a message to yourself, you will always replay 1 time because you will recive the message immidiatly...
Ranney
HTC official support told me to wait a few days since it's still a work in progress, so probably they will release another version or a corrected one for this hotfix.
Kinda reminds me of the "Hotfixes" for the Touch HD, which initially broke more than they fixed....
Quality control anyone?

Don't have any idea. I didn't touch the files. I simply un-rared them and rar-ed them again. As explained.
All of my contacts are there. And they show up when calling together with the photos.

I paid for it that money. It was in Frankfurt Airport. Since I live in croatia, this phone will most probably cost even more. Just like it was with other HTC models.
Only in "developed" countries these phones have normal price tag since HTC sells there directly. Here, we don't have HTC office but a sub-licensee who will not even fix this phone if something happens while on international warranty.
So, yes I paid around 900Euro to get mine. If you need I think I still have a receipt somewhere, I'll be glad to upload it.
As some of you already know, Rogers did not receive the 12085 firmware update which addressed the purple hue issue that all North American Lumias suffered from since their launch.
I tried reaching Nokia via twitter and Rogers. Nokia never replied and Rogers said they are still waiting for the firmware to arrive from Nokia so that they test it.
I then sent am email to Nokia and was told later on that someone from the Service Recovery department will call me. They called me yesterday and pretty much did not know when the firmware will be released and told me to set the brightness to medium and wait!!! I said why do I have to do that while the AT&T customers got treated in much more timely manner. Why are Rogers customers left in the dark?! The representative had no answers and kept telling me the same things I mentioned above.
I finished with her and decided to email Nokia's CEO. YES! Stephen Elop himself. I sent him an email and told him about this and how unacceptable it is given that our US neighbours got the issue fixed a month ago. I also told him how frustrated I was with the Service Department not knowing anything nor being able to help.
Guess what?! He replied to me while ccing a couple of people in the reply email. He apologized for this and told me that someone from his team will assist me.
I received a call today in the morning from the manager/head of the service recovery department and I was offered a brand new Lumia 900 from the newest batch which does not suffer from the purple hue issue. They will ship it to me soon. Later on in the day, Mr. Elop emailed me again and told me that he checked the firmware update's status and that it is now in Rogers labs being tested and that it should be released in the coming weeks.
I thanked Mr. Elop for his assistance and told him that I will keep him informed of these bugs harming the brand and their flagship device.
So now all you Rogers customers have an update on this issue. Hopefully you will get the firmware update soon.
That's good news. And shows how the power of one can move mountains. Glad you focused your energy in the right direction.

I received the new one a day after talking to the manager and guess what? The new one still has the purple hue problem!!! The new so-called "batch" still does not have calibrated screens. I even doubt there is something called "new batch".
I am going to keep the new one for sure, send the old one, and talk back to the manager and see what she's going to do about it.

Elop said that the firmware is now in Rogers' testing labs and Rogers tweeted me back a while ago saying they are looking for an end-of-July release so maybe this will end up true.
I am still going to corner that manager and exert pressure just to see what she'll do given that she assured me like 5 times that the phone she is sending me does not have that problem anymore and I kept telling her are you sure? And she's respond saying yes.
I really find myself making them a favour by wasting my time giving them feedback so that they can better their sales/customer satisfaction!
Called the manager today and she was very apologetic since apparently the service center in New Market (Flextronics) sent me a phone from the old batch.
They are sending me a new batch phone now from Ajax which is where Nokia Personnel are.
Will keep everyone posted.

See, with me... Every time I've talked to them, they tell me to send it in, and tell me it'll take 1-3 weeks to get my phone back...
I'm self-employed, have a company to run, and couldn't go 1 hour without my phone (let alone 1-3 weeks)... It's simply not an option... Maybe I need to write Mr. President at Nokia and see what'll happen.
Received the new batch Lumia 900 today.
To my surprise, the firmware version is unique and nowhere to be found elswhere online. The same applies for the OS.
OS Version: 7.10.8779.8
Firmware: 2175.2301.8779.12222
The purple hue is fixed!!!! The marketplace icon is different than the 2 other Lumias I have from Nokia and I was able to update Nokia Drive to 3.0
So far, Nokia is doing very well in terms of service and customer satisfaction!

International - It's an unlocked "SmarTone" phone that I understand is out of Hong Kong.
I have an International release of the Lumia 900 (an unlocked Rogers device purchased outright from Hong Kong) and I'm on 8773.
I really do hope that Rogers release the firmware very soon because the keyboard disappearance has been annoying the hell out of me lately. The kbrd either disappears or TellMe pops up without any reason (and I find myself swearing at it)!
xsever, did you ever notice on your earlier 900 pictures you took looked fine on the screen but when the picture was taken it was noticably darker? How about your new version.. how's the accuracy of the camera? (Well done getting a new device by the way).

as he says we're working I don't think that he's a random guy. and you know, LG admins don not have the right to announce anything until they arre told to do. So they act more conservative. look at the screenshot attached. Some information are company confidential. But the employees are more free to do it. I mean even if he's not true about next month he must be true about the coming of the update.

The G2 already has 4.4 In Korea tho.
World wide, I meant.
Let's study the situation a bit deeper.
reasons we get the update:
1. if we consider the 18 months period of recieving updates, we still have 4 months left. G was released in October, 2012
2. I think except for the initial batch, most of the devices had Jelly bean 4.1.2 while being sold and they still have the same version. So there should be at least an update to a higher version.
3. Physically the device has all the potentials to be upgraded to kitkat and as a previous flagship deserves to get it.
4. the leaked news says that they were testing kitkat on both g pro and g. Now that they are releasing the update for g pro by the end of Q2. There should be an update for g as well since we know that the device doesn't lack anything to run kitkat smoothly.
resons no to get it
1. Why should a company care for a phone from 2012 while there are so many other new phones 2013 onward?
Well I think we have more reasons to get it than not to get it.
to get or not to get. this is the question
and look
Samsung officially announced the models which will get kitkat. Among them you can see Note 2 which was released in September, 2012 and Galaxy S3 which was released in July, 2012!!
So let's keep our fingers crossed

They are not allowed to announce anything. Actually they don't know anything. They are simply page admins. Whenever they say something it's not true or exact. No one knows exactly when everything will be ready but I believe it will be ready one day not so far from today.

But no LG phones are listed, so it must be unlisted for a reason other than no update coming...
Nexus 6 isn't listed either. I'm pretty sure being omitted from that list does not mean the G3 isn't getting lollipop.
I am not quite sure as to how the LG G3 Lollipop update was left off of the list, but I am happy to report it is in the T-Mobile testing phase. And our testing is going really well. I will reach out to product development and try to get it added to the list. Thank you for pointing this out.

Could be, T-Mobile is the only carrier using IPV6 only on LTE (if I'm not mistaken). They could also have required VoLTE be working, so LG could be taking longer to make sure all this works. Still sucks that it's taking so long.

There's developmental teams for each region and NOT all of them finish at the same time... The last responses shows how childish some people are. Some devices get finished on other carriers and some don't. T-Mobile isn't always the first and they are not always the last. You can say that with ANY carrier.
If manufacturers really wanted to fix this problem they should take away the carrier options they give them, and then have a single base phone so they only need to code for a single device(iPhone 6, and 6+ as an example they are all exactly the same). Of course device prices would get more expensive then people will complain how expensive they are while blaming the carrier for the prices.

The fact of the matter being LG had 5.0 in hand early to mid Q4 and many carriers were putting finishing touches on their certification by the end of the year. We are now 2 months in to Q1 and every carriers' update status has surpassed ours. When you say there are different development teams for each region I assume you mean domestically which makes perfect sense but isn't that a nice way of saying "we're not ready yet". I'm not one to usually ***** about updates because it makes things less enjoyable in most cases but I'm a little blown away. When I heard LG G3 was one of the first handsets scheduled to get lollipop I thought for sure T-Mobile would shine once more. I just need to modify my definition of "soon" because in T-Mobile's dictionary the definition is a month or more.

This is a BIG mystery and I have combed the various forums around and came to XDA for definitive answers which there appears little. Perhaps because xda is primarily concerned with custom roms, and not incidental stock roms. Personally I thought I would go with the stock rom now, then move to a custom 5.1 rom or later rom when that came out considering how LG seems to be dragging their feet. And to top *that* off it is now April and TMobile has NOT released the update to ALL phones as they have said they would on April 7 on their website.
So what is happening? The various forums are all over the map concerning this. Some are reporting that TMobile representatives are saying that there are problems with the update and that they have *halted* the rollout because of too many problems - and why they were preceding slowly in the first place (I understand that, but I do not understand how it takes three months and not work out all the bugs unless they have just one person working on it part time on the weekends. I'm not a programmer per se and *I* would have been faster). There was one uncomfirmed report of a phone(s) getting too hot.
Clearly the LG G3 page on the TMobile page that says "update available" is incorrect as there is no menu option to do an OTA update in the settings menu, which would indicate that the roll out was halted at some point. So that indicates that there have been problems with the initial update.
Well if that was not bad enough, there is another dreadful post from this forum http://disq.us/8mwajk that has this to say;
O.K. people this is what I was able to find out from T-mobile directly. First the update Lollipop has been release already for the LG G3 (white and black) with some caveats to it.
First the update comes from LG directly instead of Tmobile web servers, tmobile has approve the update and put their flavor on top of the lollipop that LG worked on, but the actual update come from LG servers. So LG is releasing the updates by batches with selected numbers of cell phones at the time ( i am assuming cause they will kill their servers if they do it all at once). Depending of the serial number you have is when you will get the Over The Air update OTA. This can take up to a MONTH yes up to a MONTH for some LG G3 users depending on you serial number, yes its bad cause I am on you same boat I still have not received the update myself so I have to wait for my time (if I am lucky with the lucky serial)or wait up to to a month. Tmobile actually can not do nothing to speed up or put you ahead of the list is the LG that is doing the updates.
Second is that if you really want to have the update to lollipop and you can not just wait any longer cause you will have a heart attack or die for depression. Well you can go to LG site and download a tool for pcs which you can force the update, yes it requires more steps like wiping out your phone and connecting to a PC (not a MAC like myself) but you can have lollipop. Tmobile assure me the LG site lollipop is the same version of lollipop of OTA version so there is nothing to worry about of been a difference version from each site.
Well there it is guys you can either wait, been lucky and get the text to update or go to LG and update it there. Its your choice but pls don't complain about tmobile they are doing their best to help us out if anything it will be LG not tmobile.

I kind of disagree that this is LG's fault because they have had the update ready for the G3 since January and all the phones in Europe got it near that time. Which places the blame squarely at TMobiles feet. They could have plugged into LG's website last January like what they are appearing to do now. Which begs the question what have they been doing for the past three months exactly?
But really, they have an incentive to delay and drag their feet. Because if you really want the "latest" software, you'll need to buy a new phone with that. And the reason why you will not see 5.1 released anytime soon if at all for the G3. If you see 5.1 on the G4 when it is released and not the G3, that will prove my point outright.
Edit: Another possible reason for the three month delay is that TMobile has turned on VoLTE and added Wi-Fi Calling 2.0. They still could have upgraded to lollipop right away in January then rolled these into a 5.1 update when the bugs were worked out. But this contradicts that the software from both places is the same? I wonder how less of a carbon footprint and wasted energy they could have saved if they would have given everyone better battery life with lollipop back in January?
I cannot update mine as well. I am using the black LG G3 which I won from T Mobile's raffle.
When I try to upgrade it, it just says "No upgrade items to fix" or "No upgrade policy"
I do not know what to do with this. I want to update this badly.
I was told my white one wasn't getting til April 27th

This also is what happened with the LG G2. They upgraded white LG G2's after every one else. Which would fit in that they are doing it by "serial number batches." Because that would be only thing different between white and black units.
Unless there is a special magical "white powder" we did not know about!

Tmo tech service. That is when my serial is being updated. I'm sure if you complain enough to raise your support ticket they can push your serial but I'm not in a rush since messing with 5.1 on nexus

This is so sad I never thought lg was racist ?
I would like to congratulate everybody on bothering TMobile customer service so much that they were forced to post this to their LG G3 support page;
The LG G3 will be receiving the long awaited 5.0.1 software update in waves. This means that all devices will be getting the update, but not all at once. Because of this, please be patient if you haven't received the update yet! If you just can't wait any longer, there are instructions to manually download the update via PC in the software update document linked in the title.

Google will be releasing 5.1.1 relatively soon. It will be telling to see how long it takes for TMobile to send that out. I don't see why it could not just be a small "patch" update without updating the whole phone.
