Hi, a long time ago I fiddled around with my xperia s, I managed to root it but I don't recall what steps I took and if I managed to do anything else. I now want to try to install a custom ROM, but all of those methods include rebooting into a 'recovery'.
I can't boot into recovery - there is no blue LED at boot and holding power up does nothing. Apart from this the phone appears to work perfectly (though a little slow). I've also tried the "Quick Boot (Reboot)" app, to no effect.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
EDIT: After fiddling around and flashing a new kernel and ROM, it seems to work ok.

I was trying to install AuroraPlay 1.1, everything was going fine, i unlocked my bootloader, installed doomkernel, booted it up and it was fine until then. Then i followed the next installation steps (factory reset, format system, and flashed the rom, did it all on Clockwork mod) and now the Xperia logo keeps looping. I can't enter recovery, the phone doesn't vibrate like it did before on the doomkernel screen and no matter what i press it just goes to the logo again
I'm pretty new to all this so i suppose i just made a common stupid mistake. Flashtool seems to still recognize my phone when i connect it in flash mode, but not for long, it disconnects itself and reconnects again but not in flash mode. Can i save my phone?
After removing the battery many times, and trying again and again, it booted into AuroraPlay
Everything looked normal, so i turned it off and on again to see if it was fixed, but it's looping again, and i still can't acess recovery
I can't think of anything i did differently when it booted successfully
Start from begining again:
-flash stock firmware and see does it boot up
-reflash doom kernel again, if you can enter fastboot mode (hold search when pluging in usb)
-boot rom again, to see if stock rom can boot up with doomlord kernel
-if you can, reset to recovery(keep pressing back button), format data and system and install Aurora again
If you manage to boot to (any) rom, check your sd card for errors, if any...
Around half an hour after my last post, i left my xperia looping for like 10 minutes to see if anything changed, then took out the battery and booted it up again
this time i managed to go into recovery, but didnt want to flash everything again so i just applied the doomkernel v14 wifi fix that i couldnt apply before
it then booted into the rom normally and i've been using it since without a problem
kinda afraid to reboot though
Hi!
I'm moving my first steps into Android modding: I've succesfully installed Cyanogenmod on my Xperia U and then started to play with my Xperia S. That's what I did on the S:
- unlocked bootloader (with Sony official procedure)
- copied ROMs into phone
- flashed TWRP 2.8.0.1 using flashtool (fastboot mode)
- started phone in recovery, wiped, installed ROM/Gapps, reboot.
All seems to work fine: the phone boots correctly, system configuration and all, except that when I reboot it, on the next start it stucks on boot on Sony logo.
The phone is recognized by flashtool and I can still enter recovery, so I can't say it's bricked, but it doesn't start the OS!
I've tried different ROMs, Android 4.4.4. and 5.0.2, but the result is the same: all working fine until the phone is rebooted, then stuck. Sometimes it happens just after installing the ROM, other times later, after installing other apps (it always happens if I try to recovery app backups with Titanium backup, for example).
Can it be a TWRP problem?
Any ideas or help will be high apreciated! :fingers-crossed:

After flashing ROM, the phone will seem to be stuck at Boot Animation for 10-15 minutes. It is not stuck and normal. Let it boot, it will come to home screen eventually. During second boot, it will seem to be stuck at Sony logo, but this is too normal. It will take approx 10 minutes here too.

Wow. Thank you Mirhawk! I knew about long boot animation at first boot, but never heard about the second (or later) one "stuck" at Sony logo! Waited 10 minutes and then the phone wake up! :good:
Thank you again.
Hi I have a rooted Z1 Compact with locked bootloader and xz dual recovery which I installed lollipop 5.1.1 on through twrp yesterday. Everything works fine the only problem is I'm completely unable to boot into recovery... any recovery. I've tried all combinations of buttons, downloaded quick root and tried to boot into recovery through ndr utils, rom and twrp manager but nothing works.. It just reboots as normal after hanging a little on the opening graphics. My volume buttons work fine, however when I boot up my phone where the led used to light up I noticed it isn't lighting up (although it is for texts/charging etc). Has anyone got any advice? I really need to get into recovery...

If that doesn't do it, it may be an issue with new boot loader. Are you familiar with that? I don't know which ROM/kernel you're using, but booting into recovery w/ new bl only works starting w/ power off, and the right boot-recovery combo.
Hi,
i was recently playing with my Xperia, trying to run 4.4 android.
I flashed legacyXperia CM11, with corresponding kernel (included in zip with rom).
It was working fine, i tried to run newer versions, HyperGamer kernel, but with no luck.
I settled with CM11, installed gapps. Play store was crushing, so i rebooted the phone.
After that, Xperia was dead. It vibrates after pressing power, but screen is black (at first, i light up a little, slightly brighter than typical black).
I tried flashing with flashtool stock GB and ICS and reFlash. I flashed different kernels with fastboot. Everything is going ok, but i still get only black screen.
Any suggestion? I really, really like my Xperia Play and i don't want to lose it :/

Try to flash stock GB FTF with flashtool....
Try with different (unpartitioned) sdcard...
Try flashing lupus kernel and see will it enter recovery when you boot (keep pressing vol- or vol+ while booting)...

if you tried flashing with other roms it may be related to your flex cable. when i bought my first xplay it was in a state as you described, black screen only. the guy i bought from told me he flashed a rom and device was bricked in the process. but he also told me before he flashed, the touchscreen was not quite responsive and he had issues with cameras.
so first i tried to flash the phone with stock rom but there was only blackscreen. i thought the problem was software related only after changing flex cable phone started booting and running normally.
it may be a bad coincidence in your case but if you haven't changed your flex cable in a while it may be the cause.
Hi,
I am looking for a piece of advice regarding a way to make my phone boot up again.....
Issue:
I have a Sony Xperia M5 Dual (E5633) that suddenly stuck and once force restarted it won't go beyond blue screen. Then I tried to factory reset using power/volume+- key combinations few times and it ended up not booting at all. After went to a technician they managed to boot it up by some method. They said they did it by heating it up. But again it suddenly stuck when I tried to open an app and went dead. (I have to wait long until I can go to this technician again)
Symptoms:
Only a red LED is lit when connected to PC or charging it up. Not detected at all by the PC/Xperia companion. No response to reset keys, power keys etc.
Any tips on:
Please do you have any tips to make it boot again for one more time so that I can backup my data and flash it so that the problem most likely will go away?
Any idea of the test points of this model? (So that at least I can flash it.
Thanks.
put in fozener 2 days and take out to power charger, it work for me
