[Q] Galaxy nexus GSM unusable - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi, today my GN decided to stop working normal. Application started to crash randomly, if I try to connect to the internet it just reboots, and it reboots randomly too. If I try to perform a factory reset it just doesn't do anything, even using the recovery mode (latest cwm). If I delete or copy files on the device, when I go check if they are there, the delete files are still there and the new ones aren't anywhere. So, I tried everything but I didn't have any results. Do anyone know what could I do? How do I perform a hard reset? I'm a little bit desperate. And a little bit angry eheh

Sounds like your memory is toast . its probably hardware failure , not a whole lot you can do to fix it

I'm sorry, hack the what? What do you mean?
So something inside is actually broken? It started acting like this yesterday morning without any motivation. Maybe it was after getting very hot for a long time..
(Google, up there, are you telling me to buy the Nexus 5?)

Hack the tuna is my tapatalk signature lol , if your emmc is going bad there isn't any way to fix it besides replace it .

Ahah ok, I imagined it wasn't referred to my situation
Anyway, another problem I found is that error I get when I try to install (sideload or directly from the internal memory) a rom using the recovery: "symlink: some symonds failed Error in data/... rom.zip (status 7) installation aborted"

Market Issue

Today I had several reboots on my Desire. After the third I decided to do a hard reset.
Since rebooting the Android Market has been REALLY slow.
It will find apps and let me install them, however the screen doesn't change after the install - it keeps saying installing. The only way to remove the "installing" message is to reboot
I have tried several reboots, reflashed the stock T-Mobile UK ROM and I have formatted the SD card, but none of these have fixed it.
I get the same using WiFi or mobile internet (vodafone UK)
Anyone having the same issue, or got any ideas how to resolve it??
Cheers

Delete please..
See below...
Try THIS!
If not then just wait as the Market on googles servers needs time to catch up with the diffrent build numbers changed, since a flash i belive
Mine took personally after everyflash at least a hour to start even working a bit.
EDIT: Maybe if it carries on being very slow, maybe something happened in the flash whilst in recovery, and has written some data to some bad sectors, causing this issue << only spectulation tho!

Thanks for the link, but I tried that already (after searching for this issue!)
It didn't resolve either issue for me (the slow market, or the installing issue) nor did other threads, hence me starting this one.
Any further help would be appreciated

Lol, i ment delete my post
Then referred to my second post.
Soz for the confusion
Still having this issue.
I have tried the close market place and clear cache/data idea, but no joy
I have now re-formatted (after a factory reset and clearing storage in bootloader) but it still sticks on installing in market even though the app installs fine.
Please help!
Slow for me today as well, stock Desire.
Maybe give it a day?
Okay, its been a few days now and I am still having the never ending install and slow market issue.
Surely I cant be alone??

[Q]Stuck on bootloader while updating? E: can't mount /cache/...

hi guys,
I really need your help. My rom was freezing all the time, so I re-flashed it via recovery. Everything was smooth again, but I wanted to restore my data (as I didn't want to start over with my games). I had made a backup via recovery, so I selected the option 'restore data' in recovery and it got to work. When it was finished, i got an error saying something about a file being a read only file. So I wanted to go back to the main menu, but I couldn't. I had to take the battery out and try to reboot. I got the white screen with the green HTC, so I thought everything was okay. But it didn't boot any further than that. It just stayed there. So I took the battery out and rebooted into recovery again. This time I got a list of errors saying something like 'E:can't mount cache/....'. I googled the issue and found a fix for the problem, which would be to install the update via bootloader. I downgraded and rooted my phone using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261. The method uses an update which is 1.34, so I decided to try it. The update didn't work, and I'm stuck on the update screen. It says Fail-PU on the first 8 lines, [9]TP - OK, [10]TP- Bypasses, and than at [11]Radio_V2, it says '-Updating' and it just stays there. I've left it all night last night and it was still stuck there. I've tried taking out the battery, as I can't do anything and try the update again, but it didn't work.... Can someone please help me?
i dont know bout this too much but i would take out memory card...format it and put new update. while mem card is out go bootloader and factory reset. then put mem card back in and update.
I'm afraid you might have a hardware issue. It could be one of two things, either the emmc has gone bad. Or the partition table has been messed up. The second thing is fixable the first is not. I suggest heading over to the g2root irc channel so they can diagnose the problem and suggest a solution is one is available.

yeah turns out it''s the harware issue where the emmc chip goes bad or something... I''m going to send it back to HTC, because all the people i''ve read about on other threads got theirs replaced despite it being S-off and having CMW on it. I just hope HTC holland is that cool too...

[Q] HELP I think that I have finally bricked my phone!

Hey XDAers,
I need your help. I think my phone's eMmc chip is dead. Today my phone's screen didnt turn on, I suspected it to be just a buggy kernel or ROM so as any other person would do, I removed the battery and rebooted. Well it did reboot although the boot animation (of Vanir) was lagging. Then I got to my lockscreen but when i was entering my passcode it was extremely laggy and it continued that way for like a min or 2 just freezing for like 5 seconds then continuing until it finally froze for like a min and I decided to reboot. Same thing happened, I kept trying to reboot sometimes it would just freeze others it would reboot on its own. Then I went into recovery and fixed permissions... same thing. Then I wiped dalvik cache, same results. I finally decided to connect it to the PC and pulled everything from the phone using adb and made a nandroid backup to my USB flash drive using my OTG cable and CWM, because when I tried backing up normally to the internal memory I was faced with errors. So then as a last resort I just was gonna flash to stock using fastboot (by the Nexus toolkit). While flashing I got an error telling me that the baseband version I have is different than the one required. even though the baseband from the .tgz or whatever file was successfully flashed. So apparently my radio is UGLL1 (I think) and the radio included in .tgz package was XXLJ1 and even though it was flashed, it didnt change. I tried manually flashing the radio and it also didnt change. So i went in the .tgz file and edited the android-info.txt file inside so that it doesnt require the XXLJ1 baseband to be present and instead just the UGLL1. It started flashing but got stuck at flashing the system partition after it was "sent". At this point I started paniking because normally flashing stock solves everything. So I tried using ODIN (my first time with it) and it took 30 mins to flash everything (25 mins just for flashing system. I was feeling optimistic since it was successfully completed.
Then it rebooted and I see the Vanir boot animation >_> WHATTT??? after all these system flashes and wipes Vanir is still present?? Then after it boots it takes my right to my same lockscreen, like the data and system partition weren't even touched!!! And its still lagging and freezing. So I go to TWRP recovery and try deleting everything from /data/media which works then I reboot again in recovery and everything is back ??? I cant wipe anything. I can add things because I remember earlier during this process I pushed a zip file.
I AM DYING HERE OMG MY PHONE IS LIKE MY LIFE. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! I THINK ITS DEAD BUT I'LL TRY ANYTHING :crying:
Same issue I had; unfortunately that is describing the painful EMMC death. Had to buy another GNEX (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1909331 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354641)

This is devastating me... I've been crying for the past half hour about this. I never thought this could happen, that this device could be bricked
Do you know if Samsung could help me with this, like if they could replace the motherboard maybe. Hopefully it doesn't cost much trying to think of any under-$100 options.

They said it would cost about $300 in total. The employee advised me to buy a new phone which I'm going to do. I'll get the Nexus 5 now .
I'm gonna miss this Galaxy Nexus community

[Q] fastboot doesn't wipe nor flash anything

Hi, I have a problem with my galaxy nexus: one day it began rebooting continuosly as soon as android started. I could not restore it to factory settings since I have no time to reach the menu before it restarts
I decided to wipe it through fastboot but it did not work: I tried many times, the terminal says "OKEY finished" but then the device is just like before, nothing wiped, nothing flashed
I cannot understand what's happening, everything I do seems to be restored to previous state after It reboots
Just one detail one time after rebooting it managed to connect to the internet and on the notification box it appears something that was quite similiar to a spam but I could not read it completely since it rebooted
It was totally stock before the error: neither rooted nor custom rom
thanks for any help!
Hi, i have the same issue here. Yesterday it began rebooting continuously and the factory reset doesn't do anything. It says "data wipe complete" but when i reboot the system it's still my acount and still rebooting.
Any ideas?
Even I'm having the same problem since yesterday. It just started randomly rebooting. Boots up and after around 30 seconds reboots. I was running CM11 - M7. The weirdest part is that even factory resets from recovery isn't wiping anything. Also flashing a new bootloader also didn't work out. The phone is always in the same state when it boots up.

No. The only solution is a new board (the NAND is fried and that's soldered on the board..). As said you are not the only one. It sucks though..

can't load android system data corrupted

Hello. Yesterday, I uploaded my Nexus 5X to Android 8 - official updated as appeared on my mobile´s screen. After completing the update and rebooting, I saw this message "can't load android system data corrupted". I have tried the adb sideload following the instructions at google´s developers site. It seemed that the configuration was correct, but when rebooting, same problem.
I´d appreciate if anyone can help me out. I would like to mostly recover my photos on the phone.
Thanks.
This happened to me today as well, though I have been running 8.0 since the end of August. By looking around, I came to the conclusion that its the bootloop of death problem. I think Google changed something in Oreo how the system uses the processor and thats why it happened now. I tried using the boot image which disables the 2 BIG cores, but that didnt work either. Right now I think that my phone is gone, and I am mad, because I cant even backup the data that was on there. You could try following these instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/untested-nexus-5x-bootloop-death-fix-t3641199
Maybe it will help you.
