The touchscreen simply stops responding every now and then, witjout any pattern related to external or internal factors. When this happens, battery pull or a restore to factory do not help. After a while, everything starts working normally again.
Any idea what's causing this and how to cure it?
If it survives restarting and resetting, and then suddenly goes away again...
Sounds like a hardware problem, e.g. a not-so-good connection from the screen to the main board. Might need repairs!
Do you have a screen protector? I had a vikuiti one and after a while the display became eratic.

Iv found if I hold the device and my fingers are very close to the screen it effects the screen sensing my input.

I noticed that sometimes when I use the power button to turn off my screen, after 1-2secs later, the screen turns back on again automatically on its own. Happened quite a few times Already. Anyone with the same experience?
Haven't seen it happen.
Not seen this personally but there were some occasions when I picked up the phone and the screen was on. I'd assume I'd accidentally pressed the power button when picking it up.
Didbyou enable some options in S-Motion? Some of those options will turn screen on.

It happens mostly after a new app installation. The app is usually a spam and hence it keeps on turning the screen. Try to figure it own by removing apps one by one ever since the problem started.

Yes I think this could happen when "Quick Glance " is enabled. A few days ago, I was cleaning with a cloth the screen of my Note 2 and the screen went on (I haven't pressed accidentally the power button of my phone)

No no its not quick glance.. It's almost like my power buttonmay be too ssensitive. And the screen typically turns on just 1-2secs after I turn off the screen manually. Doesn't happen frequently but still about once a day?

Have you installed any app like Pocket Sensor?
I use this amazing app, which can behave like this sometime when anything overshadows the proximity sensor.

I had exactly the same issue and maybe it's coincidence but the issue went away after I disabled Quick Glance. Been over a week now and this used to happen at least once a day.

I have EXACTLY..this problem.. it happens a few times a week to me.. Quite annoying sometimes.
I've been suspecting that its because of a application, namely, Kakao-talk, which is a IM application. I can't really recall my screen turning on suddenly when using any other app, but I will wait and see if it happens outside of Kakaotalk.
If the problem persists, i might hand it in to service...
its quite annoying sometimes. I have heard of other people having the same problem though...

any other guy faced this issue ?
Had this problem occassionally on Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus. As far as I recall, this is android bug, sometimes triggered by third party apps. Google 'screen turning on by itself' to find out more.

I thought only I had this weird issue... its really annoying and my battery is getting drained up very fast...
If started reading comics on my nexus 7 2013 32Gb with perfect viewer recently. And twice today after reading for an extended time (over an hour)the touch Screen stopped responding. Everything else seemed to work but not the touch screen. Holding down the power button and rebooting has it working again.
Anyone else have this issue or should I send it in for repair?
I'm still all factory.
Is this the same? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2497017&highlight=freeze
No, I don't think so
Mine stops completely has not come back after 5 minutes I have touch trace on so I can see when I touch the screen normally. It can go to lock screen and still have no input. Never happened before now even though I have used it extensively at other times. But this is the first time I've had only one program running for over an hour with minimal touch input.
I have a 2013 Nexus 7 which had been having touchscreen issues. Occasionally I'll try to unlock it and find that I can't draw a pattern at all, nor do any of the options in the power menu respond to taps. A hard reboot usually fixes it, but lately it's been taking two reboots, or one and a long time waiting with it off, or occasionally a strong rap on the back of the screen.
The actual LCD works fine. Also, when the touchscreen is not working, it is also broken in TWRP.
It's running Omnirom 4.4.4 now, and was also happening when I was using Paranoid Android.
Any ideas?
HELP!!!
All in a sudden, I am not able to turn on my Nexus 7 again, it just stuck in the first screen showing GOOGLE, I use Pure Nexus rom all the time and it works very well, not sure what happen. Tried to reboot to recovery but the touch screen is not working, is that the problem with the screen or the system issue? is there anyone has the same experience can share your solution?

This happens with mine every once in a while as well. Sometimes it will get stuck at the google logo like you are describing and my way to fix it is to do a full wipe and re-flash my ROM then restore my apps and data with Titanium Backup. I also occasionally get other issues like the touch screen being unresponsive or autorotation not working. If autorotation stops working I'll just power off and reboot until it begins working again. As far as the touch screen being unresponsive, sometimes the fix is as simple as just doing a reboot. Sometimes I have to tap on the screen or the back cover with my knuckle using about a third of the force I'd use if knocking on a door. If that doesn't work sometimes lightly tapping the corner of the device on a countertop or table has helped. One more thing that sometimes helps is to set the tablet face down on a flat surface and firmly press down on the back cover with both hands. Be careful though because this is a good way to scratch the glass if the surface isn't 100% smooth and clean. Its better to lay a towel or piece of cloth on the surface under the tablet so the screen doesn't get scratched. My screen was perfect until I did this one day on a dirty countertop and it put about a dozen small scratches on the screen when the tablet slid about a half inch while I was pressing it against the countertop. You just have to experiment while being careful not to beat it up. I hope this helps.
