Hey guys, I've rooted my Galaxy Ace II by reading some of your threads, so as you can see, I'm new to the thing. So thanks to you my Ace II is rooted perfectly. But what's the pupose of rooting without installing a custom rom? Well I found out that to install a custom rom, I need to do it via CWM recovery. My device is on GB and I'm not able to flash CWM, it gives me some error. Anyone could help me please?
You have to update your phone to official jelly bean first.

Hey guys,
I had an Xperia Play for sometime. I taken the plunge to install a custom rom. I have tried before but I keep failing as my phone gets stuck at the Sony Ericsson logo.
Basically I want to install JJ's HYBRID ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573547
It says to boot in CWM which I did and do a full wipe and flash. I wipe then install zip file.
I am using 4.0.2.a.0.42 rooted with CWM. I amalso using stock kernel. mainly because I dont know how to install doomkernel because I dont know what is fastboot and how to use it because majority of the posts assume you know about this.
Also I want to try to jokawild rom but it tells me to flash to 0.62 baseband. but I cant root it aso how do I install cwm. Am I missing something does doomkernel come with cmw? sorry im a noob
Please help!
thanks in advance
Have you unlocked your bootloader as you use fastboot for that. You will need to flash a custom Kernal like dooms to be able to install custom Roms.
BTW This should be in Q&A section.

Hello,
my first post here on forums and I have a problem.. I Flashed this room LINK via cwm on my Xperia Arc S. I had stock android 4.0 before with stock kernel. The flashing process was completed, phone rebooted but now it's getting stuck everytime I turn it on on Sony logo, I can't even enter recovery mode :/ . Any ideas what I can do? Would be great if you can help... Thanks.
You'll have to reflash a tft, either jelly sandwich or stock or another custom rom

is there any guide how to do that? Im new with this phone got it yesterday.
you'll have to download a ftf that you want such as stock ics and then use flashtool to flash to your phone just like what you did before. there are abundant guides on youtube on how to do it if you did it wrong previously here's one
thank you so much it works now
I rooted my phone & flashed Jelly Bean ROM - it wouldn't stop loading. So, tried to re-root, it did the same thing. I restored to stock. Stock isn't rooted so I re-rooted it from there.
So, with all that said, here is the question:
I want to install Jelly Bean. My understanding is that you must first upgrade to ICS, then to Jelly Bean. Is this the only way to go?
Thank you for your help!
:highfive:
No. What is your root method?

odin/hercules......
I'm assuming it also flashed CWM to replace the stock recovery...or no?
no. i went from juggernaut5 (gb rom) to cm10 (jb rom). never visited ics. just flash like normal (twrp or cwm).
You may have just had a bad flash or bad download. Try again with a different dl (and maybe a different recovery).

I've heard samsugn have done so that you don`t need root the Samsug galaxy note II in order to install a custom rom on it. I've also heard that this would be the same on Galaxy SIII and galaxy SIV.är someone managed to put a rom without root the phone
yes you do!
For flashing a custom rom, you do need a custom recovery to flash it.
I've looked around the forum a bit i can't seem to find a way to get a custom recovery working on my 8160L, hence i can't flash a custom rom. Any help would be appreciated!
Sorry, i'm currently on 4.1.2 stock jelly bean, i've managed to root it too. But can't seem to get a custom recovery. I tried using rom manager to install CWM , but doesnt seem to work.
NEVER use rom manager. Use shaaan's cwm 6
