Hello,
Dear OPtimus G users,
Is it Worth to buy Lg optimus G over the Galaxy S III ?
Short answer yes.
Long answer YEEEEEEEEEEEEES.
Optimus g is better in everything but camera.
Anyway camera isnt much worse, just a little bit.
Enviado desde mi LG-F180L mediante Tapatalk
IMHO yes, it's great value for such little price, but camera sucks badly. Other things are still very good, screen is one of the best so far and desing looks as elegant as 2 years ago. Of course it all depends on your preferences.
Better Nexus 4 or 5.
if the Nexus 4 is avaible its the better option.

If the choice is between these two devices, I'd say definitely yes. The things against the OG are the camera (but honestly, it's quite decent, and not THAT bad as you might hear from some people -- my picture quality improved greatly after just cleaning the lens cover from the inside ), and the lack of an SD card slot. In every other aspect, technically and aesthetically, OG is a better phone, IMO. I love my OG!

"When I am given a choice of two options, I pick the third one". Frankly, N4 suggestion is questionable, to say the least, unless you are a die-hard Android purist. I personally didn't own an N4, but based on what I hear from people I know, everybody who had a chance to compare the two side by side, prefer the OG (not talking about the retail price here, of course). N5, however, is just not a fair comparison to either OG, or SGS3, or N4...
Thanks guys,Nexus 4 has only 16gb storage which is worse for me so i was looking for SGS III but its quiet expensive for me.
Lg OG is quiet bad in camera but I hearded that its camera quality can be improved by flashing AOSP Roms(Cyanogenmod,Carbon etc).Is that right ?
LG OG users,
Is this device is better in terms of gaming(especially in Graphics) ?
and
does it supports Slow-Motion Video recording ?

Since nexus 5 is so cheap, i would save up for it. Camera is good, if you dont have sun in front of camera...Light ruins every photo. No matter how strong or weak it is, it will ruin every photo you want to take indoors. Outdoors its okaai. In terms of gaming, this lil dude runs everything i want. It definately beats Samsung galaxy s3 in everything, but camera and sound. Display is amazing, and looks are nice too.
About slow-motion videos..idk. Stock camera doesnt have this function.
In short, it all depends from your budget and the price you can get the Optimus G for.

Gaming on the LG Optimus G is perfect! It supports medium to high graphics. From what I've seen, because I've played a lot of games on it, every game runs smooth with good graphics, like Real Racing 3 and like about a month ago, I started playing Blitz Brigade. Great games and good graphics. Price per performance, I find the LG Optimus G perfect! I am now on Kitkat made from LG. Stable, smooth, no lag/slowdowns at all and no crashes. Camera improved a lot since Kitkat. And you get 32GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, Adreno 320(Still great). It can run any emulator at full speed, except for Dolphin Emulator(Stays black and then crashes because of bad drivers) and PPSSPP(depending on the game).
And no.. It doesn't have Slow-Motion Video recording.. It has the capabilities, because the Xiaomi Mi2 can record up to 120fps at 480p and 720p at 60-90fps and has the same Qualcomm APQ8064. I mean, it should.. But it doesn't
No, there are better and cheaper devices out there already. I would go for the 4g moto G, for a good as it, or to the g3 to the best I think it's available.

Moto G has the best 5mp pictures I'd seen, has a processor that's running at the same clock beats the n4/og, has a screen that fits better in hands, and got all official updates one month after aosp sources were released. In theory it beats the og in all comparisons, apart from the theoretical one. Newer mid range how always beat older high end one. The prove is that three years ago the s2 and the atria were the best, now any **** is better than both.

Our phone is good, I'm just saying it isn't worth anymore. It has two years in the marked and there's a lot of better stuff cheaper. And I made the tests myself, the moto G is able to do everything the Og does fast as it is able. Remember also os something, snapdragon pro is a quad-core cortex a15 snapdragon 200 from 2012. Obsolete. If you want to spend money, spend in something with less than 6 months of market availability. Or not, you money, your choice.

Yeah sure, is really smart to buy a 2012 flagship instead of a 2014 mid-range which is faster, better, cheaper and also has more support time. Don't get me wrong. But the log is totally obsolete compared to newer devices, even some mid-ranges. Even the s4 mini is faster and smoother than the lgog...
I'm not saying it isn't good, just saying that if you want a flagship device, buy one new, not one outdated and almost unsupported by the oem.

anyway i don't regret selling my moto g for this beast. im glad im not obsessed over the "latest" snapdragon chip lol
when i was at the store i grabbed both the g1 and g2 but this one is more than i need. and the g2 is now "obsolete" anyway

Hi all!
I really like Note II, more precisely, this is what I was looking for. But now I'm beginning to doubt because of:
1. CPU - soon there will be many phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro and in Internet you can found a lot of videos showing his superiority over Exynos 4412
2. Camera - I mean it costs 699 euro and has only 8 Megapixels camera while other phones that will soon appear on the market have 10+ Megapixels cameras. I don't take pictures so much, but if I have to pay 699 euro, I just want a really good camera.
You can disagree with me, but I would just like to hear other people's opinion =)
Thanks!
The note series is what your really paying for..no other manufacture has Samsung Pen functionality development..so in short if you want specs then wait for the optimus g..s4 pro..but for sure it will not have the note 2 pen.

camera resolution isn't everything.
I've read some comments about how at least some of those 13mp camera phones take rather blurry and grainy pictures.
sharp colorful 8mp pictures are better than blurry brownish 13mp pictures.
If the lack of an SD card slot doesn't faze you then the LG will probably suit you better. LG have a bad reputation for updates but they have said that the Optimus G will get Jelly Bean soon. I doubt they would leave their flagship on ICS for long after hyping it up so much before its release but who knows.

Also, if those videos were benchmark tests then you shouldn't focus on them too hard. They don't represent real, day to day use. I'm sure the Note 2 will still be a significant improvement on your current handset.
Provided you don't have a GS3 anyway..

Lol seriously, last year LGs flagship was the optimus 2x ie G2x and the last update it got was gingerbread, which normally wouldnt be an issue but with a tegra chip that devs cant support without official drivers your stuck with that last official update, ill never by a LG product again.
Hello,

Does anyone know how much the device costs in euros?
And what is your experiences with this phone.

In the UK it's around £350 off contract, converted to euros it's about 435 euros, more or less. (about $550)
Personally I love this device, awesome screen, great camera capability, lag free (2gb ram obviously helps, along with the quad core 1.5ghz processor), browsing/games/apps are a treat. If you don't mind the huge screen, then this is a very good phone for you. Personally I prefer this over the galaxy note 2... Good luck and enjoy (if you decide to buy it).

Hey Guys
Sorry for OT but im From Europen too, my 'Problem' is i want to buy a new Smartphone in One Month.
I'm not sure what i want to buy
I see Note 2 --> i test this for 3 Weeks / Very good Phone.
Then is there the Optimus G. Very nice one too.
But there is a Test-Video on YouTube (Optimus G vs. Galaxy S3) from Android Authority.
In this Test the Optimus G had an much worse Camera then S3 (Pictures & Videos).
Because of this, im not sure. Without this 'Bug' its better then the Note (Hardware).
Can you confirm this?
Is Camera fast Like Note 2?
Last but not Least: HTC DNA (in Europe ... when it comes ... HTC Deluxe DLX)
Highlight is the Screen: 440 ppi
And the Hardware is approximately same like Optimus G.
Or shuld i wait after CES in Las Vegas. I dont know
What do you think?
OT Ends

my advice,if you care about the camera, you should not think about LG...though I myself is a LG user,I have to say that LG's camerais just soso...maybe worse...
though it's a 13.0 M pixels,pictures taken by it is worse than the N7100
wait...if you want to buyan international version, the 8.0 Mpixels camera on att&Canada version is much butter than the 13.0 M on Korea version, youmay find some pictures taken by others on xda
despite the camera,it's the best phone that I've ever used
hope this will help you to buy your favorite phone

Well, cant see any real difference between Note 2 in case of camera, but personally i think Note2 is more wise choice, just cause of usability and strong battery.
Btw korean version of optimus G has a really annoying issue - cause of the way it designed, the camera lense easy to get dirty and hard to clean, so usually there a lot of blur and distortion on images.
Ah, and the main issue of the camera - the autofocus logic really differs from other phones - you must tap tge screen to get the camera focused.
Man who designed it, should be executed immediately.
Now im Waiting after the 6. December. Maybe we will see something new from the HTC Deluxe for Europe.
Hope it will had an stronger Battery then US & Korean Version (2100 mah).
After this, i watch witch Phone i want to buy. All 3 Phone are very Good.
So i stop the OT here and BTT sry
Hope Lg Optimus G is soon available in Europe.
Hello guys! I have recently decided to buy a new phone, and after some searching on the internet, I cannot decide between the following phones (they all have the same price from where I buy them): Optimus G, Nexus 4 and Galaxy S3 LTE. I would go for the nexus because of the fast updates coming from Google and the powerful hardware, but I don't like that it has the buttons on the screen and I would really like an LTE phone because it is more future reliable. I like the Optimus G and the S3, but I can't decide between them. I like both interfaces, they have similar hardware, and also the storage is much bigger. I don't think that the Nexus has enough storage and I am afraid that Optimus G won't receive many updates. I mean it's stuck on 4.1.2 for quite a long...
So, in conclusion, I would like a phone that will receive updates (like 4.4 kitkat) and that has a nice interface and powerful hardware. So which one should I choose? Thank you in advance.

if lte is a must S3 has better camera
if camera is not an issue optimus G
you can always use cyanogenMod for future updates.
I say the S3 cos it has the most customizability. If there's any thing u don't like. U can change it. Also. The S3 is the best for gaming, has the best camera, and it is more well known. Which means anytime u want to know something about your phone. Search it up and I almost guarantee that you'll find it. Oh yeah. People have started to repair soft bricked and hard bricked Samsung Galaxies. Whereas other phones don't get that kinda support. (Geez I'm acting like I'm in a dam commercial).

No s3 lte. Is worse than normal s3. Nexus4 or G. But n4 has no lte. It's a big deal,i see you're from romania. If you think 8/16gb are enough and you want the latest android on your phone, but no lte, then buy the n4. If you don't care about that, but you still want 32gb of storage,a sturdy device, with flawless lg ui(it's way lighter and better than samsung's tw),with a more than decent camera, lte connection, then go for the g. Make sure it will be e975. Other models will not have 4g in romania.

S3 doesn't have poor built quality, its the material used what people bugged about.
if you are in US, S3 will be a dualcore with 2GB ram, rest of the world its quad core with 1GB ram, left the LTE version i9305 which is quadcore + 2GB RAM. so search your options.

Hi,
2 months ago I also had the same issue and went for the Optimus G. I left out the N4 because the 16GB maximum storage and the lack of LTE. Regarding the S3, from the hardware point of view, I don’t think it can compete with the OG.
OG
Slighty better CPU
Much better GPU
Better display (at least for me; colors more realistic)
Better materials; feels more robust
S3
Some say it has better camera (however, for a smartphone, my only complaint about the OG’s camera has to do with the autofocus. It's not a big deal but sometimes it gets a little erratic. I don't know about the S3; OG E975 has 13Mpx)
Lighter (the consequence of the materials used)
Probably better support regarding ROM updates (let’s hope LG has learned from their mistakes)
However, you can always opt for a custom ROM. OG is not as popular as S3 but you can easily confirm here at XDA that you have many options for OG. I’m still using LGOG original ROM (E97510H-EUR-XX) and it’s very fast and stable, even with 100+ apps installed.

Just my 2 cents on the display... S3 has a Super AMOLED screen, while OG has an IPS LCD. People's opinions on the differences are quite polarized, but in my book a good LCD beats AMOLED anytime, hands down. More realistic colours, less "cartoonish". And the display on OG is just awesome -- I have a couple S3 owners commenting on how surprised they were about it.

once you use a good super amoled plus you will never ever want to go anywhere no matter how greater the LCD screen is, but if you are like me or someone who don't like too vibrant colors (most people like vibrant color) newer LCD's specially from LG are very very Good.
also remember Samsung has altered the display of S4 and now S3 via software update to give you option to make is realistic color and many didn't realize this and never tried it.
Note:
people also doesn't know amoled has a very short life span vs the LCD panels, and this lifespan is about the color reproduction not the working life. so a 2 year old amoled screen will look terrible in-front of a new amoled and more than 2 year old amoled will give you strange color balance, many doesn't know this and say amoled is Sh=t.
Samsung set the standard with those over saturated colours. Being the no1 player on the market, the average user take for granted this is how a screen should be like. And the other manufacturers play samsung's game too. Take lg for example, although we have ips lcd,the coulours ARE in fact a litle over saturated. So,mentioning the colours is irrelevant. I would go for sunlight visibility, which is better for lg. The materials, also a plus for g. S3 lte has about the same custom support like our g. And i said it before, neck to neck, the kicks the butt of s3 lte.

Zenfone 720p 2GB version vs oneplus one or latest moto g? Is the zenfone 720p better than these 2 budget phones? It's probably more powerful than the moto g but is it more powerful than the oneplus one?
I am more interested in the 720p version as it seems that the high end versions are not great with battery life... and the 720p is well cheaper...
Given, a choice of those 3 I would def go with the ASUS... This phone oozes FLAGSHIP QUALITY specs... for budget pricing.
The ZE500CL 720p 5" won't be as good as the OnePlus One if the scores making rounds on the internet are typical. Motorola has a nice line that's in this price range as well (development too). Camera is sort of hit or miss though from what I've experience personally though. I would wait a bit longer so you don't catch buyers remorse. The ZE551ML models (2/4GB ram 5.5") ooze the flagship for reasonable pricing not the ZE500CL in my opinion. Most accessories online are for the 5.5" screens at the moment too.

It's such a pity we have to delineate exactly each specific model even. Folks that browse will be lost until they go through each specific model number and what that means. Hell even the lower end models list less supported bands. I dig Asus but this is sort of nuts .

ZE550ML should definitely beat the crap out of any Moto G due to the much better CPU and 2GB RAM. The camera also appears to be much, much better. I think the ZE550ML vs. the OnePlus One is a much closer comparison. The OPO has better specs (3GB Ram, 1080P screen, etc.) but it's also likely that the ZE550ML will sell for much less (Likely at least $100 in the USA) than the OPO so it then becomes a question of if you think the specs bump is worth it. I think it's also almost a certainty that the OPO will have better 3rd party rom support than the ZF2 so if that's important to you than take that into consideration.
Kinda in the same boat here, Padfone S or ZE500ML? Both have the exact same price locally.

What about ZTE nubia Z7 mini or Z9 mini .... the spec look better then all mentioned phones.
I want a 5.5" phone... I have galaxy s5 and find it too small now lol
I have the ZE550ML (the 5.5 inch 720p 2GB model). It is a different league from the Moto G. The OPO is probably a better comparison. Unless you have extremely sharp eyesight I wouldn't worry about the fact that it is "only" HD - it is very clear and pixels are not visible at comfortable viewing distance (much like the retina iPads). Colours are vivid and true, unlike what I have heard of the OPO. Build quality is also good, a definite step up from the zenfone 5. Again, from what I gather of the OPO that is not guaranteed there due to unreliable QC. Not much difference between the two in performance if benchmarks are to be believed. I think mine scored about 18000 on 3Dmark Unlimited, and is very near the OPO on Antutu. Only pushing 720p helps it fly I suppose. Here is the Antutu result:
Hi guys i'm from italy and i'm trying to buy a tablet. Use is only university and some videos. I found this second hand (still 1 year warrancy, not really used) lg g pad 8.3 at 150€ (ie 170$, 110£ for those of you who aren't from europe )
First question is: is it an affordable price? Only wifi version
Then, i would ask you about the battery life, and if it is still good (no lagging, fluid) through everyday use. I have a nexus 5 which i consider very responsive and very good, is it comparable? And what about a comparison with the ipad mini one (in italy has the same average price of 150€ for a second hand) ? It is older but it is still a good device. Do you think lg g pad would win 10-0?
Thanks guys!
150€ is quite a good price in Italy where most tech things seem to be more expensive than normal! Against iPad mini it wins hands down except maybe screen brightness.
Nexus 5 has s800 and Adreno 330 while this has s600 and adreno 320. It's very fluid, but there's some lag here and there sometimes when playing heavy games. And it has micro sd slot, so it's great to store movies! It also has a premium build quality.
Well I bought my G pad twice the price 300€ new about 1 year ago! Go for it

thanks a lot mate, you convinced me. Btw does it have official lollipop or it is still at 4.4?
and what about custom roms? I'm used to my N5 so i have a large option does the gpad increases a lot his performances with custom roms?

Only Korea and some Asian countries have lollipop for now! Verizon version as well. The rest are still waiting for an ota. The Korean version which is the same as international version can be flashed through pc via a custom lg flash tool 2014, thread in general section! Check devpt section for other custom roms which u may want to use. There's only minor improvements in custom roms. I prefer lg rom since my phone has cm12 just to not feel bored about vanilla Android.
Most of us here are using the Korean lollipop rom since it was available back in May or else you'll have to keep waiting for an ota to appear.
Excellent price for one. I would buy in a heartbeat at that price.
yes i did, btw i'm very happy about it. Waiting for the lollipop ota

Cheers!
I bought mine few days ago for 250$, I know it is high price nowadays, but it was sold in my country, new straight from shop I don't like waiting a lot for electronic things.
And you know what? I am sooo happy that I did buy it, haven't touched my laptop since downloaded all the stuff for g pad (lollipop etc.)?
