[Q] Multiple themes? - Paranoid Android Q&A

Is it possible to activate two themes at the same time?
For example: I really like the UI of the new "Nue" theme by PA, but there are also some themes around that are changing the interface of certain apps (e.g. WhatsApp) differently than the current theme, which I would like to use too.
The problem here is, that both themes are using the "Styles" option of the theme manager, so if I am activating one the other one becomes deactivated.. Is there any possibility to let them both activated?

Nope not possible

Whats the benefit of installing themes vs skins with 3rd Party Home apps?

I see a ton of skins/themes on the market for aHome and Open Home. Whats the benefit of installing themes via recovery mode vs using a 3rd party Home app to install skins/themes?

As far as ease and stability's sake, hardly none.
Some advantages of the themes via recovery mode are these (someone correct me if I'm wrong on some):
-A theme in aHome or Open Home can't do as many changes systemwide as a normal one can (for example changing icons in the music player app or changing the layout of the unlock screen) since it only has permission to change its own stuff and the notification bar.
-Themes from xda are more plentiful since not all of them are snagged and brought to the market.
-Anything new that comes out in theming is going to be available here first, and (no offense to the devs at betterandrod, etc. They do a great job) it just will take a while longer for those sorts of changes to be able to propagate into the replacement home apps.
Bottom line: It's far safer to install themes from the market, but here is where the developers can meet and share ideas, and it's bound to throw you some patchy themes, and maybe even a bricked phone or two. It's all a matter of preference.
Well themes from here give you a much more rich experience in my opinion. While skins save you time and are easier to use, i still prefer a theme from xda. I like the little details that really make the g1 shine. There really is no danger of bricking phone, none that i know of anyways. If you know what your doing then there are no worries.
ih why do just 1 ?
Not sure about the others, but with dxTop you could keep your root theme as far as notification bar and app bar went and use the icons wallpaper or optionally app bar from one of the market themes
I was using glossy min for a while with deep blacks icons and it all seems to go well.
The only thing a skin changes is the clock, application launcher, and icons.
A theme is a full theme, including full customization vs just a few little parts.

[Q] themes?

I am very experienced with creating many themes for Blackberrys. but recently the old blackberry broke and i moved on to the Moto Defy. i tried to get some themes but realized i was completely clueless.
i was wondering anybody could answer some questions for me about themes for the Moto Defy.
1. are all themes for android phones the same or do you have to download themes for different OS or devices?
2. is their a certain software or web program that is used to create themes?
3.how do you install a theme to the Moto Defy?
I promise to post my themes here once i learn how to make them.
As far as I know there isn't a standard method to create themes on android, you can change wallpaper and that's it. If you want to skin bars and other system stuff you need to be root. Only if you install an extra home manager (launcherpro, awd ...) you can have themes for it (icons, wallpaper, colors).

[Q] HTC Themes Dialer

Some themes on the HTC Themes Store seems to have a specific dialer and custom "no photo contact", however we can't choose those specific ones. I also tried to create the theme online, but it doesn't give options for setting custom dialer, no-photo-contact. Is there alternative way to set dialer from one theme and custom "no-photo-contact" from another? Another way of thinking about it is how to apply dialer theme without applying the whole classic theme?

You're correct I made my own dark theme, and only just checked and I notice the same issue. I will have a look for the offending white line, and see if I can find where it's coming from.

Black EMUI 9 themes on Huawei Mediapad M5 10.8
Hi Guys and Gals
I've made some tests with offered EMUI 9 themes by Themes Manager. There are a lot of dark themes which are suitable for our Mediapad. I found best solutions with Deep+Black-1.9-NL.hwt and Evanescence-v.4.NL.hwt both developed by XDA Recognized Themer maurydes.
Unfortunately there are some problems especially with Settings and Contacts. There is an ugly white background behind Settings caption. The subheadings on Contacts changing from good looking in portrait mode to bad looking form in landscape mode.
Chris
Dark theme
I have long searched for a theme with a dark background in settings, contacts and other Huawei programs for my Huawei Mediapad M5 10.8 with EMUI 9.1. With the large number of themes tested, problems typically arise when displaying texts or symbols in various fields of the respective programs. Either there is light text on a light background or dark text on a dark background, so that in extreme cases there is no legibility. The best results in my tests were Evanescence-v.4.1-Full-9.1 (although I don't like the icons - OK, you can change them).
However, there are still some rough edges.
As with many other themes, the narrow gray delimiters between the groups of contacts when changing to landscape mode mutate into wide white stripes in which the letters visually disappear. Well then you have to use the contacts program and only in portrait mode.
In the themes program, individual symbols disappear in the same color background - e.g. the trash icons for deleting themes.
So far I have not found any serious problems in the settings. If you disregard the fact that the switch in the settings is not easy to recognize and that you cannot recognize the trash can in the themes program here either.
Enjoy !

Mediapad M5 Themes
When a service was carried out by a authorized workshop (the well-known USB-C wobbler), a 'proper' Themes app was also installed on my media pad (CMR-AL09), in which, in addition to the few pre-installed ones, some new themes appeared in the store. These are all 'real' Themes for the media pad with a large screen and landscape and portrait view. Among other things, can be seen from the thumbnails in the topics. Themes for phones include no preview images for landscape mode and therefore cannot be displayed in landscape mode in the Themes app. The Magazine Unlock Method is also defined in some of these Themes, and I had no idea how it worked before.
Theme files with the ending .hwt are actually zip files with picture elements - called drawable - and xml files, in which the modifications are described. These are evaluated by the EMUI system for EMUI's own elements. The individual files such as com.example.android.notepad are also zip files that in turn contain drawables and xml files. They are evaluated by framework-res for general Android apps or its extension by Huawei framework-res-hwext for Android and EMUI apps. The file com.example.android.notepad is therefore responsible for the Huawei App Notepad.
A lack of all offered Mediapad Themes is, however, that no apps change their appearance. For example, no dark Themes for settings, contacts etc. are realized
I have modified one of the offered Mediapad Themes. I have inserted the program components for modifying various apps from other Themes that are actually intended for phones. I have among other things uses the themes Evanescence Full (LCD) .hwt, Nightlike.hwt and Skyline.hwt from the range of the Themes Manager app from the Google Play Store. I've also experimented a little with a few different lock screen solutions. E.g. a dynamic lock scene realized with the help of the ZookingSoft Theme Engine.
Sounds like you've done a good job creating a theme that best imitates dark mode for use on the mediatab. You should upload your theme for us to download and use?
Puzzles me why Huawei would remove a feature that's already built into android 9, overall I am not keen on their take on android in general - it seems a bit butchered.

Themes / Apps / Mods When using Theme Park, can I prevent Google Messages from reverting theme

Its seems that if you do not use Theme Park and use the built-in One UI options, Google Messages will use that theme. However, when using Theme Park, it seems like the One UI theme resets to the default blue color, and so Google Messages takes on that same theme, which will often clash with the theme I am actively using via Theme Park.
Does anyone know if there is a way to prevent this and set messages to at least similarly match my theme?
Side question: is Samsung messages worth using over google? If it really is then I guess I dont really have a problem as I will just switch.
I've use Samsung Messages for years. No issues. Try it and judge for yourself. It's based on open source code.
Lol, Google -is- the problem...
Try Repainter in parallel with theme park. You'll have much better control over your theme colors as well. If that doesn't work for GMessages, you could try Hex. That may be what's let me theme the app properly. Hex is more complex so hopefully Repainter does the trick
