Need help about s off please before i loose my mind - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Was having problems with adb in the past but now all is working. Could never get root access with adb shell but now that's fine.
My problem is when I get to the point in firewater instructions /data/local/tmp/firewater and from the countless of threads videos it seems that firewater just goes straight to the point saying explaining firewater can be dangerous....... please type Yes.
Here is my session on cmd

Now everytime I hit enter after /data/local/tmp/firewater it just goes to [email protected]_m8:/ # and will sit there well a long time
what the hell is up or am I doing something wrong
Please anybody help me

Think I have downloaded Firewater 10times now just to be sure. But will try that and see if not then maybe it's windows 8.1 on my laptop causing the problem.

don't know anyone with mac. Can try on Windows 7 later when I get to parents house. Will give it a try and see. Cheers for the offer though just bugs me has to be something simple. If I can get that far on it

Windows 8.1 worked for me first try. Make sure the device is rooted with weak sauce and has the message popup saying it has root after adb reboot. Maybe go into super su and forget adb and then grant it again.
Let me clarify on the first one. Weak sauce roots up to a minute after each boot so make sure you give it enough time after the adb reboot command to activate root before continuing

Phone is already unlocked by HTC dev and rooted with supersu. I get root access to adb from supersu so nothing wrong in that aspect and already tried to forget adb in supersu and let it grant access again to same problem. I'm at work parents house today doing work so will try and get it to work. Will try on my laptop again if not will try Windows 7 pc here

God F~cking damn it I got the whelp message. Tried three time just to be sure. And kept getting 1st bottle opening chugging then whelping message after that. Nothing to day that the device can not be s off just shows two lines of the whelping message then cmd goes back to the start as if just opeing up waiting for a command...
Guess I cant get s off :crying:

Just wait and you shall receive. Eventually got s off lads thanks very much for the help. Just kept trying and done a tip that was on another thread. When first bottle was chugging I copied a decent size file and copied it to any folder on internal memory of phone and low and behold it worked. Now s off

All you can do is just wait for the developers to fix this they are working hard on this exploit.I have herd that htc has patched firewater in their last updates. You should wait for fix to come. Also I have herd of Towelroot by geohot maybe give a try at it.

It's GREAT to see that there are users that know this. One wouldn't believe how many posts we get like this in Dev that are immediately replied to with "RONG SEKTION, Q A PL0X"
Anyway, I believe you need to use abd during the install, not sure though and there are people that can explain it better than I can anyway. +1 for the idea though

I'm pretty sure you need to do an adb pull while the update runs. But, wait for someone more educated than I to give you further instruction, as I have no idea in hell how to do it
quick google search yielded this.

Found this in the desire forum. Would this work for the incredible as well?
The OTA .zip files which are downloaded from a Google server are not signed the same way as the RUU "rom.zip" files - they use the app .apk manifest signing method. (manifests and certs a la "jarsigner").
If you are interested in looking at the process that HTC/Verizon uses for the OTA updates, you can get the URL for the OTA zip the following way:
Run logcat on the pc and accept the update on the phone
$ adb logcat > logcat_accept.txt
This will sit like this (it continues to log output into the output file) until the phone reboots. At that point, the adb logcat job will terminate, and the name of the zip file will be indicated in the logfile in a message similar to:
W/SystemUpdateHelper( 64): !!! REBOOTING TO INSTALL /cache/desirec-ota-104882.7b1e5cca.zip !!!
Then, take the name of the file and paste it on the end of android.clients.google.com/updates/partner

Shell Has Been Granted SU Permissions

I got that message every few seconds and have nearly 200 entries in the SU log in about 2 minutes. I had to reboot.
While it was happening my phone slowed and stuttered a bit. Searching didn't really help much, just suggestions like reinstall SU or ROM.
What is shell and why was it hijacking my phone?
I was listening to the walkman at the time and there was no other app requesting permission.

[Q] "Shell has been granted superuser permission" pops up repeatedly

This happened a few days ago and I couldn't figure out what caused it so I rebooted.
It just happened again this morning when I opened the browser and was reading an article on CNN.
I restarted the phone, and the first thing I did was go to the browser again. Sure enough a few moments later it froze and that toast popped up again.
Once the phone became responsive again, I tried clearing memory to see if it would stop. It didn't. So I restarted, and here I am asking you guys if you've seen this before and what it might mean.
I'm on rooted FI27.

That doesn't truly fix the problem with Superuser, which was a problem that ChainsDD mentioned last time - no one told him!
If anyone is still having this and can do a logcat as well as some screenies of Superuser log I bet you can hit up ChainsDD and report it to him. It's far better, even if you change to SuperSU, to still address a bug so it can be fixed.

Did you also get the pop up's while the log was running? And you can make a dropbox to post or send it to me in an email. Same name at gmail.
The log will be sent to the dev to see if there is an answer, if there isn't one already.

Please check version of superuser. Do you also have supersu installed? (Sometimes, people end up with both)
Found a few posts that may be helpful, but your version is important to know.

Got it..
In ChainsDD thread, starting back in July at post #164 and an older version, this was also an issue. It seems that root isn't sticking at boot.
One user disabled notifications (which doesn't correct the problem, just fills the log and you don't see it while it happens), another rolled back to an older version and another just re-flashed. Can't seem to find any response from ChainsDD on the issue...
:edit: Found this answer..

Depending on how you have superuser, you can freeze or disable the app after flashing SuperSU. I have ran both and SuperSU takes priority and I didn't have any issues. I don't know what you're running to suggest removing the apk nor have I had to.

got an update...ive found that its just adb that isnt working.
If I manually button boot into bootloader, I can run all fastboot commands, but when I do adb commands, the phone reads "offline" or "waiting on device"
any idea on what the problem might be...is it a bad adb driver?
thanks
adb doesnt work in the bootloader....
only in custom recoveries and in android itself.

I understand that, but when I am booted into android os, and I run adb devices...it gives me the number of the device and out to the right it says offline.
So from booted into android, I cant type adb reboot bootloader...it does nothing,,,,waiting on device.
Now, I have an HTC One also, and it works perfectly fine, thats why I was thinking it may be a driver issue.
Its aggravating because I have one of the most developed device and I can get adb to work,,,ha
thanks for the response though
Try updating the sdk tools?
Try a different cable?
