Has anyone noticed lag after the 4.4.2 update? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Wife has been complaining that her keyboard hasn't been responsive, that its not picking up her swypes. I tried it out and I noticed that its just laggy all around. Opening/closing apps, swiping through screens. Everything is just so slow. Has anyone else noticed this?

I've been running smooth like buttah since the update. But, I flashed the update tar so my system was wiped clean. Also have done the usual tweaks (freezing/Uninstaller crap, turning off unneeded notifications, etc)

Try flashing a custom rom. It just makes things so much better

Any suggestions for which ROM?
I've always run rooted stock on my S3 but the 4.4.2 update (installed via cnexus method) is doing weird things. Sometimes it's fast. Sometimes it crashes. Usually while I'm trying to take an important call.
My criteria: stability, speed, and assurance of periodic updates, in that order. No nightlies on that device, just something that works well. It's my work phone and I want to make it last for a year.
Thanks,
BJ

I would solve the problem under stock first, otherwise you may still have the problem no matter what ROM you use. Try Odining the stock ND8 tar again? Make sure the MD5 hash matches what you downloaded for it.
Maybe it's an app you have installed? Try just adding downloaded apps one or a few at a time.
I've successfully run stock rooted ND8, Wicked X v6+, and now on Singularity.

4.0.4 GPS issues

Has anyone else experienced issues with the GPS having a hard time locating after the update? It used to work flawlessly on 402 but now it's pretty much worthless.

GPS has been normal for me since update. Just checked with the GPS test app and it located just fine.

GPS fine here. And there.

GPS works fine for me here. I'm on stock 4.0.4 yakju rooted. I think GPS initialization is even faster than 4.0.3 (EBMod)
Fine for me too. Faster locking actually. Are you using a custom rom, kernel?
No, completely stock and not rooted. Maybe it's just my imagination, just seems like before the update it worked great and now it can't find me. Even did my update ota.

I too have found myself with the location problem... Maps Google+ Facebook location based features do not work. I have however noticed that when you switch down to 2G it locates fine. I dont know if its data stored in that partition thats causing it maybe, if any devs can chime in and the help would be greatly appreciated.

Just an update after troubleshooting I stopped by a T-Mobile store and had my sim card replaced and that did it for me. Once its replaced make sure you cycle off and on a few times.

Interesting, I'll have to try the new sim card thing. Thanks for the heads up.

Android system update tonight?

Just got a notice about an Android System Update tonight on my Sprint GS3.
Says that it is 39.7MB in size.
I'm rooted running the Blaze ROM, so I am not going to do the update.
Just curious as to what it might be?
Anyone else out there get this update notice?

True, running Blaze v1.6 currently.
Hate not knowing... but what is "LG8"?
I know in my Baseband version it says "LG2", but I have no clue what that even means.
Thanks for your reply!
LG8 is the latest firmware. Adds better LTE connectivity I believe and a screen brightness slider below the notification toggles. I think that's all that stands out from it.

Thanks!
I am in Idaho... about 20 years away from an LTE update :crying:... and I have an app for brightness...
So I think I'll just stay on Blazer 1.6 and avoid the update until there is a JB rom released.
I appreciate the help!

NP, you could edit your build.prop to stop the update notifications, do a search also, I think there is a flashable file out there that will stop the notifications too...
yuup just the lg8 update
heres the link to the zip that will stop the notification http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817460,
however i do recommend going and downloading the lg8 modem from the forums here and flashing it. made all the difference in the world for me at least as far as connections/speed go. dont think it was just for lte as i dont have it yet either and did a lot for me

Voxer on GS3 with Cyanogenmod...

Hey all, I have noticed a trend on both my GS2 and now my GS3, it would appear that certain apps would have low mic volume after installing clean builds of either CM9 or now CM10.
Does anyone know if a fix or has anyone else encountered this specific issue?
Again, my mic is just fine, I even went back to a TouchWIZ based ROM to confirm this, it would appear that in CM ROMs for some 3rd party apps, in this case Voxer, that the mic is turned down extremely low.
And now the program will only produce audio via the earpiece with the MIUI ROMs, the mic is also EXTREMELY low. Does anyone have advice?
i was just about to post this! what's going on?
I'm really surprised by all the ppl that flash a ROM without reading through a thread...CM has disabled one mic, hence the audio being low. All other AOSP ROMs are based on CM, which is why they have the problem. There is no fix that I've seen as of right now. Either run a CM based ROM and have the problem or flash back to a TW ROM.

Stronger Battery?

my GSIII is running Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and Since I've had the phone when I'm taking pictures/video it randomly shuts off and restarts, sometimes it just totally freezes and I have to do a battery pull. yet when my phone is plugged in and charging it never shuts off with pictures/videos. any ideas? I attached a pic of the battery I'm using (I have 3 of these) and they all do this.

If I had the problem you are having what I would do is to download and Odin flash the stock T999 4.1.1 rom.
Perhaps something in your phone got corrupted and by flashing the stock rom it should fix your problem.
After flashing the stock rom don't install any apps at all until you are sure that the problem is fixed.
If it does not fix the battery problem, then there is something wrong with the phone itself and needs to be
exchanged if its under warranty or repaired if its not under warranty.
Good luck.
When I flashed the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. that fixed the camera. no more shut downs. thanks!! I truly never would have thought of it. Wish I had asked sooner I've lost a lot of photos/video because of it. Thanks again though.
If you ever have any random errors or glitches reflashing your rom will be your best bet. Personally I've had those types of glitches as well sometimes something was corrupted and other times it was because of an unstable rom I flashed.

Need Help / Advice

Ok, i flashed my phone to the newest distro of ProjectX the other night, but it just kills my battery in absolutely no time what so ever. When it goes into sleep mode it requires me to remove my case, cover and battery. Than plug it into my charger and wait about 15 minutes to power it on. I cannot have my phone doing that. It must turn on at anytime for me. Other than the battery being absolutely horrible with this mod and the sleep thing i love it. Loud volume is a huge plus.......
Went back to Revolt rom and i have absolutely 0 data and volume is super low. I like Revolt as its 4.3.X but the volume is way too low and cant get any data when not on wifi, again i cannot have this i must have my data. So i tried using some app for XplosionAudio or something, but it made absolutely no difference in the phones loudness via apps like AlarmClock Extreme, messaging, ringtones etc. I really prefer to stick with Revolt simply for the 4.3.X Android, but i need help.
Any ideas on what to do to fix my data problems? Have tried installing APN Backup and Restore along with Titanium but cant get anything to work with that either.
I guess you can say im a noob when it comes to this though ive been fiddling with it for awhile, i just read instructions step-by-step before tinkering with stuff.
btw i have sprint for service.
What baseband version are you running? Also, 4.3.x ROMS are hit and miss for some people.

You need to have an ICS modem for AOSP ROMs (like FL24)

Im using FL24 on it currently.
With ProjectX i had AWESOME reception and was even getting 4g lte in some areas, on Revolt i barely get to see 3g lte kick in.

first off....its not LTE...its wimaxx. it just shows LTE..which I think is cool, but this device doesn't get LTE.
second...use a jb modem on jb touchwiz based roms..
as for the battery life and sleep issue...check the md5 to insure u have a good download. I've been running this Rom and its variants for quite sometime with great battery life.
make sure also that no apps are causing wake locks...
but it sounds like to me that u might have a bad download.
hit me back with some more info and we will get ya straightened out...
