When I use GPS and want to charge from car charger, phone drops battery percentage, little slower then without a charger, but still dropping. So I thought that the charger is not strong enough, and bought another one with 3.1A, little better but still dropping. Then I try with home charger and no dropping, the GPS is working and battery is charging!
Is that normal, that the car charger can not charge the battery when the phone is in heavy use? The home charger have only 1A, and car 3.1A.
Try NOT using an original HTC cable but instead a generic cable.
I recently purchased an external battery pack to charge my phone while on the move, I thought it would be best to use an original HTC cable but found it was charging to slow, when I checked in settings- power it stated at the top that it wasn't Charging as AC.
I suggest you go to your car and plug in your phone
Then go to: settings - power, check if your phone is charging as AC, if not you'll need to try with another cable ( check screenshot)

I don't use original cable anyway, have other cable in car. Check it and it say AC.
Adapter is this one:
That's really strange mate, I don't have this issue, is there any possibility of trying a different car charger & or cable?, maybe a friend's just to eliminate it as a possibility.
I tried today different things, original htc charger and cable, different charger and cable, and all of that in different car...
The best was with original htc charger and non-original cable. Phone start charging and i think that was that, BUT...
After approximately half an hour, start discharging again, and i think that i accidentally move the cable, but the red charging led was glowing. When checked in power settings, there say "discharging". I disconnect the charger and connect again, start charging but after a minute it stop. Some overheating, maybe?
It sounds like that could be the problem (over heating) maybe you should try a different kernel and undervolt a little to see if it will help.
Ok, I can try, I'm currently on Lyapota's 023 kernel and Viper X 4.1.1, everything else working very well.
I use #017 pre aroma and it runs very cool
Yes, lot's of people says that this version is the best, I would try it.
So, you try to use gps and the phone charging ok with Lyapota 017? Which rom you use?
I have not had any problem using GPS and charging, I use the lates t MaximusHD.
Ok, thanks, will try with 017 and report back.
Edit:
I didn't know that this is a very common problem, that the cable is the one who can't supply enough current. I found many articles about this problem, and found something very interesting on Youtube. Will try this tomorrow and report if it works.

Hello, as the title suggests , my HTC One X is using more power than the charger can provide, even when idle.
When the phone is on, it doesn't charge unless the screen is off, and even then it is very slowly. Almost we whenever I turn the screen on it starts to discharge when plugged in. I am using the standard 1000mah charger.
It only used to do that when I was playing 3d games (only the highest).
I am using ARHD 7.1.0 and faux 004b6.
Please help, this is hard to live with
After I wiped battery stats and had it on for about 10 minutes (started on 5%).

Mine did this when I was charging on the computer via USB but I think it was due to the fact USB is only 500mA i think and the cable I had was like 2 meters in lenght so wasnt expecting much. Are you using the USB you got with it?

Use the original cable and see what happens, most 2m cables are very inefficient.
I got this to and I am using a Samsung galaxy s charger still when I play minecraft on my phone it don't charge it fast very...... Very....... Very...... Slow progress then

When you play a fairly intensive game like minecraft and try to charge it then yes it will take longer to charge. For the quickest charging time use the official plug and cable and have the phone turned off.
Looks like it was the cable, the metal inside had gone all black I don't know why. Thanks for the help.
My charging dock doesn't seem to be working. It's the original one that came in the box with the Z1. The phone does recognize the dock as it automatically opens the photo slideshow thingy and switches to landscape mode, but it's not getting any power through the dock. I've tried plugging the dock into many different wall adapters, including the original one, but it still refuses to charge.
Is the dock broken in some way or is it the phone's connectors that are causing this? I only got the phone a few weeks back and I don't understand why it's doing this. The dock wouldn't charge it even the first time I tried it, and that was just an hour or two after unboxing.

Not sure if this is a related issue, but when I use the magnetic charger, it charged the phone relatively quickly the first time I attached the cable. Subsequent charging after that seems to be significantly slower (takes more than 6 hours to reach 100%).
Something wrong with the cable or the connection?
Try the other magnetic charger
You can use a magnetic charging cable to test that is the dock broken or are the phone's connectors broken.

First of all ensure that the copper connectors in the dock as well as on the side of the phone are in contact when you place the phone in the dock.
I too have purchased a genuine Sony Dock - DK 31 from Hong Kong as it is still not available in India. At first I too had the same issue of not getting any power through the dock. But I dis- assembled it to take out the cable and directly connected it to the phone. Great ... it was then working fine. So i re-assembled it back to normal and now it is working great. But at times i have to try 2-3 times to get the contact alignment right when placing the phone in the dock.

Cable can be removed from the dock by simply removing two screws from the bottom of the dock

Using the very same cable... In settings and the status bar it shows that it's charging, but very slowly. After an hour or so, even asleep, I get a message that the phone is discharging faster than it's charging.

I have the same issue. The 1st time it was ok, but now after 3 hours nothing happens. This seems to be a very good crap
Bought a magnetic cable from ebay, which had all the sony retail boxing but the build seemed cheap. After a week usage, I am noticing terrible charging rate. Having kept my phone over night for charging, I still see only 5-10% increase. But when I switch to USB Cable, it charges noticeably faster (Quick Charge)
So to verify that the cable had issue, I installed this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manor.currentwidget
Would like to know to how much charging current do they get on USB and on Magnetic Cable.
Mine are as follows.

I had the same effect once but it never happened again. I noticed the magnetic charger was charging extremely slowly but the issue went away after I had fully charged the Z1C and it never came back again :S.
You've probably checked, but make sure the magnetic charger is sitting properly in the connector?

The easiest way to check is to install elixir2 and check how high is value. In my case my magnetic cabel charge fast as normal usb cabel. Average speed of charging about 800-900mah when i do something on phone. Original charger can provide 1500mah so when you use your phone you must 1500-that what phones need=charging value. I had another magbetic cabel earlier and it charge terribly slowly. But new one works gr8.

Same here, got a cheap cable from eBay and keeping the screen on decreased the battery status quicker than it actually charged. 5-10% over night. Different cable, all fine. I even modified the contacts of the first cable to ensure a proper connection but that also didn't help. Some cables are just trash. Now I ordered another two of the second cable and they also work fine, same charging speed as via USB.
Hello,
I discovered a weird issue with my phone this morning. I woke up and the battery was sitting at 64% after charging overnight. That seemed a little weird so I tried doing several different things (battery pull, clear the cache, etc...) to see if it would correct the issue. It did not. I just got done draining the phone completely and then plugged it in. In about an hour's time, it charged 2%.
The only thing that I have not tried at this point is a full system restore :crying:
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Do you have any ideas of things for me to try? I am willing to try anything before using a full restore as a last resort.
Thanks,
LBS
EDIT: Well, I dug out an old blackberry wall charger and cable and it immediately fixed the issue. I think its a bad LG charger and USB cable. I guess ill toss them.
I've experienced this. Does your battery stats page look a bit like this?

What charger AND USB cable are you using to charge the device? While I was using the bundled LG charger at the time, I was using an old HTC MicroUSB cable I had from a previous device when I encountered this problem. When I used the bundled LG MicroUSB cable instead, the device charged normally.

I've been using a 3rd party 6 foot long USB cable with a third party rapid charger. Last night my wife needed to borrow a USB charger, so I gave her mine and used the LG provided charger and cable for the first time last night. I hadn't really thought about it. Maybe its a bad charger?

Could possibly be that. I think the G3 might be a little picky with chargers and such you use with it, I'm not too sure as I've pretty much used the G3 wireless charging dock to charge my G3 (and that is very picky with what you use with it, if it's not at least 1.8A then say hello to constant beeps and errors, my old 2.1A Nexus 7 charger seems to power the dock fine.)

Hello you guys, I just bought an HTC 10 yesterday. And my stock charger has problem. When I plug in, its only charge about 3s ( On my phone, notice connect fast charge also appear ) then auto turn off. Led turn to orange, and turn off after 3s too. I tried to put another charger from my LG with 5v-1,8A, and its ok. With my charger, I tried with many others phone, and its still ok too. I'm wondering the problem comes from my HTC 10 or my charger and type-C cable? Anyone have the same problem with me? Pls help me :crying::crying: I bought this phone from an user and it doesn't have warranty, I'll buy Anker charger which support QC 3.0 but now I'm so confused. Give me your advice.. Sr for bad English.

So the charger works with other phones and other chargers work with your 10? Very odd. It doesn't sound like a firmware issue, try a hard reset and make sure there's nothing in the ports. At least you can charge it with another cable until you resolve it.

Thank you, finally I've found the reason came from my charger. It only works with devices which not have Fast charge technology. Yesterday I tried with Samsung S6's charger, and my HTC 10 has no problem. Battery from 13%-46% in 20 mins. I'll test again with charger which has QC 3.0 ^^ Have a nice day buddy.

Ah that makes sense! Glad you got to the bottom of it.
The stock cable is bad, I've tried several cables and the one that works the best is this one
