Hey everyone
I was just wondering whether these Vinyl skins are reliable enough....
I mean can we trust them? :silly:
They look all awesome and pretty but does that have its own backdrops?
I got a few advices saying it's not worth it....
For Nexus 5 "the adhesive sticks to the back and ruins the rubberized matte back"
"it causes the Nexus Logo embellishments to come off when you later remove the skin"
Are these true?
I wanted suggestions from people who've used such skins/have had experience with them?
Thanks in advance

I have heard of both issues before as well. And I'm pretty sure both can be solved by just heating the skin (with hair dryer or something) before removing.

Im using a dbrand skin on my Red Nexus so cant really comment on the rubber peeling off, but there are cutouts for the nexus logo on the back so there's no way that the skin will peel away along eith the nexus logo inlays. All you need to do to peel it off is to heat up the skin with a hair drier or a heat gun and that mkaes it easier to remove it.
I have used 2 Nexus 5 s till date and I keep changing my SW vinyl, ICarbon, Printvenue etc to alter my Phones look almost every 7 days.
I peel off the back without the use of a Heat Gun till date but neither my Nexus 5 Black or White has ever shown problems like u said.
(May be that I got Lucky everytime for the last 30Odd times or the NEXUS 5 quality is just super awesome ).

Overall. Quality of this product is superb and installation was so easy.
Did it all in about 15 mins + finishing it off with a hair dryer on low heat and 6" away from phone while off to cure the phantom skinz.

They are kinda small. Gotta stretch it a bit when you put it on, and then use hair dryer to make it even better. There is a video instruction on the website. Just followed every step and turned out great.
This is pure sex in my eyes!!!!

The camera I took the pic with is kind of crappy as it isn't as detailed. Pictures don't do the justice. Looks way better in person.
It is also texturized. Not just an image print.
That looks very sweet! May have to look into getting something like this for my cappy! Nice work on the install
if you are in the carbon fiber mood, there is a site that specializes in the 3M film (now in 7 colors!)
http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com/blog/3m-carbon-fiber-di-noc-now-available-in-7-different-colors/
I had this same skin for a while.
It actually adds some grip to the otherwise slippery Captivate.
Also gives a small amount of protection.
Initially it is a lint magnet until the adhesive at the edges wears out. But then it looks really good.
For me it only had two downsides:
1. Eventually, it started to lift at a couple of spots.
2. Can't be transferred to another device (like a case can) if you need to replace your phone for some reason.
I was worried about it breaking when being removed but after seeing this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErXqnQKs-tA&feature=player_embedded
WOW
i thought it was cheap but !!!!!!!

Can you imagine a car body made of that plastic
Damn...I had no idea how decent it was. I guess Samsung really know their hardware.

Yea, I figured it wouldn't be that brittle.

Normally when you bend plastic , it goes white at the bend point as is damaged/weakened , no sign of that here
This grade of plastic is more expensive than aluminium, and for good reasons. Im happy I have this phone and not one with an aluminium cover.
Great, I thought mine was going to break when taking it off lol
that's pretty damn impressive.
Not even fatigue
im amazed, but has anyone else tried this with theirs?

I was about to but then i looked inside my pants and realised my balls are not big enough.
Before people go trying this are we sure this is not third party? Don't recognise the logo under the camera, unless it's a carrier one?
I've tried it with mine, no problem at all.. It pop's right back to it's original state.. Did it however when temperatures were high (>25 Celcius), somehow i get the feeling that matters also a bit..
By the way.. The logo is of Anycall, it's the Korean telecom division from Samsung.
thats awesome, seems better than the SE Vivaz battery cover (my last phone)...
there's been no day i havent found something new and awesome about my SGSII =)
lmao nice one tbh first time i took it off was like omg its gonna break now i just rip it off lol but put my mind at rest im not gonna damage it
Has anybody tried bending their backcover like in the video, just in case it was a special rubber one
No way.. I wont try it
When I first took the cover off my new SGS2, I was extremely disappointed to see how flimsy the back cover was and was handling it like it was going to snap at any second..
Very nice to see that it is pretty strong, although I have no intention of testing the hardiness of my own one
Gutsy
It definitely took balls for that guy to try it on the video the first time. We can't even try it after seeing a demonstration!
I got so relieved when i saw that video xD
Got so scared the couple times i had to remove it
"Oh god, need to open the case again, its totally gonna break now!"
My thought every single time xD
I picked up this Nex brand Fishbone style case for the Epic Touch.

Like my lock screen? Lol...I have had it four days, and it feels great in hand and slides easily in my pocket (from Jeans to Gym shorts)!
I haven't dropped it yet but all four corners are completely double covered and I expect there would be ZERO damage if I do drop it...
They come in Black, White, Green, Pink, Purple or Red...
I think it is WELL worth the $20-$25 for it, and it looks BAD ASS!
Wow that does look pretty nice. Thanks for sharing, think I might order me one. Does that spine looking accessory snap on and off?

It looks very nice. Thanks for your contribution .
Don't mean to rez a old thread but just got this case today in red and black and its awesome. Only complaint is the lip goes up over the edges a little bit. Also here is a link for $15 with shipping and tax included http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Samsung+epic+4g+touch+nex+fishbone+case

Yeah, noticed that too. :/
Dang, $15 dollars? Oh well. Fixin to get the new Evo LTE anyway...
Any thoughts on the raised/textured back? I'm looking at this compared to the flat one such as: http://www.amazon.com/Titanium-Black-Fishbone-Protector-SAMSUNG/dp/B006IZBKCS/ref=pd_bxgy_cps_img_c
Wondering if the textured back would feel good in my hand...

For me, the back isn't really textured or rough, just raised above the rubber inlet. It feels really good in hand, but I think the pricing on the smooth backed one is alot nicer!
Let me know if you have anymore questions...
http://www.cruzerlite.com/cases/lg/nexus-5/bugdroid-circuit-intelligent-wallet-for-nexus-5-red-blue
I used this intelligent wallet LIGHTLY for less than 2 months and I already see wearing and rips and tears on the wallet. I do not recommend it at all. I contacted customer service and I got no replies. It's a nice feature to combine a wallet with the phone but on top of the wallet tearing very easily, the phone gets VERY bulky because not only do you have the case now, you have to add the extra material to make it a wallet and even more space for the cards/cash...
If you keep it in your pocket, please check out the wallet in person before purchasing it like I did. I would never go back to a wallet/case again and especially with this particular one.
This is a great case for people with a purse or people who don't mind carrying around a case that wears very easily. The idea of it is great and I loved it until it wore out very quickly and with tears. This case is not for me at least...
EDIT: I forgot to mention, within 2 months, the case that is hot-glued to the wallet is coming off already. I feel at this point, I should just rip off the case from the wallet that is barely hanging on (can provide pictures) but I want to keep it to see how long it will stay on... from the looks of it, at most 2 months and this wallet/case is done. The case should be salvageable but will have the sticky residue from the wallet being hot glued to the case...

And an other unhappy customer here! Exactly the same problem. Although I don't use the nexus too often and I take care of it a lot. Did you find any other case?

So one point you made was you are mad because they designed a wallet case like a wallet case ? Am I understanding you ? You said its too thick since you have to put money and cards in it. Well isn't that why you bought that case ? Its like me complaining that my Porsche is too fast.

Have to say that, that case looks cheap. Thanks for sharing info about this one. Seems like only good flip cover is going to be the LG official.
Hey guys check this bulk crap out. I got my girl the blue nexus 5x and after using it less then 2 weeks all of the edges and around the camera are pink from the inside of her red purse.... See the pics. Going to probably grab a replacement from google... Should not be doing that.

Wouldn't that just be the purse bleeding it's color onto the phone? Did the purse ever get moisture on/in it? I would expect any kind of plastic light in color and matte finished like the 5X back would do the same thing? Idk just an educated guess

Won't that ruin the plastic and its color?
Use it softly with very light pressure. Take it slow. Sure I guess it could, along with anything you rub on it
I would RMA the purse instead
Just put it in a different color purse?
Its matte plastic, its going to hold on to somethings. I had a flake of something red get in between the case and the phone and it left a stain on the phone. But then I just rocked the phone out of the case for a day or two and it wore off.
Hey thanks for the replies... I know that these things can happen over time but this is under 2 weeks of use!
This is on my girls phone. No moisture inside the bag at all...just spent a few day in there.
I'm going to try the magic eraser out and see how that works. I have used them in the past and they d work well for this type of thing.
