If I remember right, once on 4.3 you can no longer use the free unlock method. You will have to buy a code online. If you have a T999, you can try flashing the 4.1.1 modem and see if you can do it though. You wont get any signal if you are on a 4.3 rom until you flash back to the 4.3 modem btw.

Thanks bro I'll give it a try, but I'll have to root first before I can flash the 4.1 modem or I can just go straight away and do it through Odin?

You dont need to be rooted, but you do need a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) in order to flash the modem. I never made any odin flashable packages for the modems, only recovery flashable.
Just so you know, flashing a custom recovery will void your warranty if its still valid and you care about that.
Thanks bro, I don't care about warranty.... So all I have to do now is flash a recovery then flash the modem, hmm wonder if anyone has ever got it to work like that before tho.... If it doesn't tho can u recommend a cheap unlocking site please

All I remember for sure is that on 4.1.2, samsung patched against this unlock method, but we were still able to flash the 4.1.1 modem and unlock. In 4.3, you cant use an older modem or youll get no signal, but Im just not sure if you can still use the free unlock method that way.
Ebay had several very cheap options at one point. Also, http://gsmliberty.net has/had(?) a promo where if you posted a video of yourself unlocking using their method they would refund you your money, essentially making it free. Not sure if that is still valid though.
---------- Post added at 10:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:18 AM ----------
There were several mentions of specific sellers that only charged a few bucks in the unlock thread if you want to dig in to find them.

Any 4.1.1 modem, as long as its one for your model device. If you wanted you could see if flashing a 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 rom would make a difference, but as before, I kinda doubt it will.
When we were updated to 4.1.2, and found that the unlock method was patched, all we had to do was flash an older modem. Didnt matter what build it was from.
agree

Which ROM you have installed? Have you tried to flash official stock rom again? If no, try to flash and see.
If you are on MF2 or ME6 ROM, then you might need to restore EFS backup.. Anyways, give us more details so that we can investigate futher.

Why? When I was an admin in a big forum like this, requests like yours never ceased to amaze me. This is a public forum, not a private messaging service. How can anyone else learn from any of it if its parts are deleted every time something's resolved!?!
It's a selfish request... in exactly the same way that someone saying they'll PM someone to privately continue the discussion, when said discussion is guaranteed to contain information from which others may benefit, is selfish. I'm not saying you're selfish, or calling you a name or anything like that. I'm simply pointing-out that maybe you didn't think it through before asking a mod to remove the thread. Which rom are you using? Check that.
Do you have Odin flashable stock rom? If not download that, then you can flash the whole rom with Odin or from there you can extract the modem file and flash with Odin. The process is not actually easy if you have never done it before. Or you can search for the specific rom modem which is flash ready and download and flash that. The easiest method would be to flash stock rom altogether.

I think I didnt make my clear, I meant what ROM did your phone originally come with, which modem or baseband version, do you know that? Was it international rom or country specific? The rom you flashed later didn't have the right modem version that is why you are in this mess, find out which rom your phone came with and then download that rom then you can either flash the whole rom or extract the modem file and flash that.

Hello,
Just thought I would post this for you T999v users out there.
It's the 4.3 update now available on kies.
Proceed with caution like us with the T999. You'll have to deal with Knox and root issues in sure.
Not sure what the differences are between the T999 and the T999v update if any besides the corresponding files needed for that phone.
Anyways, here's the Samsung link
http://t.co/ufvOFzBX1E
Powered by the SGSIII
Nice. Come on Samsung, let's keep this rolling. My T999L still hasn't been updated to 4.3.
FYI, you can use Mobile Odin to flash only the modem and then use one of the T-mobile roms. This way you can bypass Knox.
Just load the file in mobile odin. Then tap all the partitions except for the modem and select clear to ensure they don't get flashed

T999V 4.3 Rom!
For any who are interested, here is a deodexed, Knox Free 4.3 Rom built from Wind's MK5 firmware! I am fairly certain that all the Canadian carriers roms will be very closely related, and anyone can flash this if they so choose. It should work on the T999 and T999L as well, provided you have the correct modem for your model. Anyway, I hope some of you find it useful!
Warning: I currently do not have a phone and so I cannot test this. I am confident it will work as expected, but I make no guarantees. Flash at your own risk!
If you do try this Rom out, please let me know if WiFi is working or not. If not, flashing the AT&T kernel should fix this. Also, let me know if you have updated to 4.3 by flashing the OTA or official firmware.
Enjoy!

same here Doc i flashed the file then flashed the mk4 modem in twrp. everything showed successful but it keeps boot looping.

Hey doc
any news on knox-free wind 4.3? i understand that you are busy, i just wanted to check because im waiting for your version of it to finally try 4.3 on my wind s3

How do I downgrade 4.3 to 4.2.2? 4.3 has alot of problems, wifi keeps dropping. I am using Rochester Institute of Technologys internet. How would I do that?
Thanks
Tmobile Galaxy s4, m919
I don't think you can due to knox.
With the newer MK2 bootloader and knox people seem to report bricks when attepting.
You might want to root, flash the older modems and see if that makes a difference.
I ran a 4.3 custom rom with 4.2 modems and bootloader without issues for the most part.

You need to go to http://SamMobile.com and download the
official stock M919 MDL firmware for your phone.
After doing that go into recovery mode and do a factory reset.
Once that's done you need to Odin flash the stock MDL firmware.
After doing that your phone will be 4.2.2 stock.
It will need to be re-rooted if you want root access and you will also need
to flash the custom cwm/twrp recovery if you want.
Good luck!

As for your root problem, try asking this in the i9500 specific forum. Our devices are sufficiently different that what works for ours won't work for yours.
As far as downgrading, you're probably out of luck like every other S4 owner in existence.

Read this whole thread and you will understand why (except in a few unique situations) you cannot downgrade the bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642207
Upgrading the bootloader and stock ROMs is a one-way street for the majority of us.

I'm getting stuck at the first part sli.mbn, but i already have the updated bootloader. From what i've been reading, this new bootloader my not let you downgrade as it's locked (or partially locked, not sure)
So somebody on old baseband looking to upgrade to new baseband should try this out.

I doubt it will work for you either Deezothernutz. You will probably get the same (cannot xmit) error i ended up getting.
However, i did not change the file to a .zip and try running it in recovery

Awwww ok. well hopefully it works. It will take some of the strain off the people that can't get the full update.zip. Although, they know eventually they will need to download a rom based off NB4. Don't know what's going to happen when they try to update bootloader while still being on an MI7 rom.
What's the benefits of the new bootloader anyway?

I think the focus is on the wrong thing . Everyone wants the modem not the bootloader. And from past experince with note 2 specifically the modem was made into a flashable zip.

no,
some of us need the updated bootloader because the current wave of custom kernels doesnt play nicely with wifi calling and you cant run a KitKat kernel without the KitKat bootloader

OK, people have been asking me for this, and I said I would extract the Bootloader and post it.
********************** THIS IS A TEST FIRST. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT TRY TO ODIN THIS BOOTLOADER IF YOU ARE NOT EXPERIENCED. BRICKING YOUR PHONE, FLASH FLOODS, AUDITS, AND EX-GIRLFRIENDS KEYING YOUR CAR ARE NOT MY FAULT. YOU TRY TO ODIN BL OF YOUR OWN FREE WILL. **********************************************
ANY WHO,
Can somebody please flash this via Odin and make sure that it finishes the process. I'm still researching to see if you need a pit to flash the BL by itself.
THanks guys.

I don't know about Wi-Fi calling but you can run Kitkat kernels with the old bootloader. Everything seems fine to me.

The only "benefit" is running the new TouchWiz kitkat builds with WiFi calling on the TMO network. The new bootloader is otherwise considered a downgrade.

Would like to run the new modem if possible on the old bootloader.
If I have to update the bootloader to run the new modem, then I will do so...but MY main desire is to have the new modem. - I run AOSP, and those all work for either bootloader.

i'll look into the flashable modem then sense people only want that. still trying to figure out why forcing the bootloader is not seeming to work
would like to see this bootloader working as I am planning to flash 4.4.2 via mobile odin and this bootloader via odin pc and hope that knox is not tripped while retaining root. Currently on 4.3 rooted with RDLV.

I keep seeing that mobile odin says it will trip the counter. Can anybody confirm that for me please.
Please I tried to downgrade my galaxy S4 from t-mobile and I bricked it(already fixed it), but I need to downgrade it to unlock it. I tried every way I found here but I keep bricking it
I believe you are suppose to flash the 4.2.2 modem, root, the run regionlockaway, and reflash current modem.

I'm having trouble finding the modems
Confirm the model number in download mode, then do a google search for the appropriate firmware, extract the modem, and flash it?
I'm not sure but you maybe able to use other m919 roms for extract the modem to unlock the phone.

It seems I talked too early but this problems more easy.....my dialer and messaging app are slow af but I'm wondering if I can re-flash the stock 4.4.4 firmware even if that's the version I currently am? Because think I the problem is the modem that I flash had problem

Yep, I re-flashed the stock firmware and it works?
After downgrading the modem, I always recommend reflashing the latest rom from sammobile.com in Odin followed by a full wipe in stock recovery.

Yeah that was I ended doing since I didn't want any problem. I will upload it in a minute
1hr till it uploads ?
Here's regionlockaway
Here's the link:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_V3a99HuE-tNzUtaEVTN0hDRkE/view?usp=sharing
Both have the same files.
1. Unzip and flash 4.2.2 modem with Odin(CP Button).
2. Open RegionLockAway and follow the instructions.
3. Once RegionLockAway finish flash 4.4.4 modem.
It's better if you're in stock(if you wanna be sure nothing happens).

My s4 is presently "soft-bricked" after downgrade attempt. Would really appreciate some help to fix it.
