Smart watch for HTC m7 - One (M7) Accessories

Which is the better smart watch for the M7 or should I just wait until HTC bring out one when they release the M8 upgrade?

Ok firstly, HTC probably won't release a smartwatch sometime soon.
Secondly, why do you want a smart watch? What do you use it for?
pebble: monochrome display. most practical I say, with long battery life and does what it's supposed to do. Yet as I say again, the display colour is only black.
Sony: All rounder with colour display, great functionality and easy to set up and use. I personally use this one.
Others: Samsung only works with the galaxy phones, so that's a no go.

If I were you I'd wait for the Moto 360 (which will be released this year) or the HTC Smartwatch(also supposed to be released this year)
Don't buy any of the current smartwatches as they aren't very good.

The HTC on has been announced and then another statement saying by the end of the year, then a mk2 probably next year which if bundled with the new phone is a winner for me, and I want one that can alert me of notifications etc, phones always on silent in my pocket so it will be a bonus.

And you are experienced with the current watches? If you are going to just make blanket statements you might as well try and back them up. Otherwise you look like an idiot.
I actually have a pebble, and it is an absolutely fantastic device.
It shows text message, phone calls, emails, FB notifications, whats app messages, etc, right on the screen.
I can control my music from it and it even displays what song is playing.
Battery lasts 5-7 days
Waterproof.
You can get tons of cool watchfaces, that show information like weather and stuff.
Lots of alarm settings and apps.
You can even get apps that do push notifications for google maps right on your watch, or allow you to call people from the watch.
Honestly I found myself wearing my pebble more than my countless other watches.

i will wait for the moto360

If you want to spend more money. There is a company which builds mechanical watches with smartwatch features. Just Google for "Karios Smartwatch".

Maybe I should've elaborated more on why.
Yeah the Pebble isn't bad but you need to use two apps and a website to manage Pebble, it sucks the battery of the phone and the connection isn't very stable. At least that is my own experience with it. Maybe I wasn't lucky but I've spoken more people about the Pebble and they had the same issues.
It's great, but not as 'smart' as a smartwatch should be imho

Google now.

Google now is pretty straight foward and its actually my first time using it and I'm already liking it. What can I expect as time goes on from it?
You can expect it to start learning from you. For example, after a while it can give you traffic data to home right before you leave work/school on a consistent schedule
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Yep and if you check in at your fav burger joint or strip club :cyclops:, GN can tell you the traffic, if any to get to that destination. Also you can also get your fav sports team scores, local stuff happening in your area, even notifying you when a package was sent. I love the integration of google keep as well. Awesomsauce all around IMO.
You can expect to get traffic and weather notifications for every single place you Google, sometimes weeks later. But nothing for important meetings on your calendar unto 45 too late.

I have keep as well. How does it integrate itself with keep?
I think Google Now is the only thing keeping me on Android. It's just become TOO useful when I was doing things like checking Maps on my desktop and finding that a card would be added to my Now list, giving directions and ETA if I were to leave right away.
I'm definitely enjoying the way it's implemented, and it's become a tool I can't imagine using a smartphone without anymore.
I have a card for the Yankees, but it hasn't appeared yet. There is a game on right now and I can search it but it doesn't show the card yet. When should I expect it to pop up

Tasker, sl4a... depends how geeky you want to be. With sl4a people have controlled robots and stuff. Tasker has a little learning curve and it's limited only by imagination. There are several other automaton apps out there but Tasker is regarded as the most robust. You can even create standalone apps from within Tasker to sell on the play store if you were so motivated.

What's not to love about it. Bought the phone on Friday and I just can't get over how great this phone REALLY is. Display, speed and battery are superior to any phone I have seen or used. Did I say the display was great.... I hope we do get developers for this phone, because it would be a shame not to really see what this phone can do. I when in to ATT to purchase the HTC One, looked at the high end smart phones and walked out with the G Pro. I guess you can tell, I am quite happy with my purchase.

Casio G-Shock GB-6900b now compatible after update

I received the G-Shock Gb-6900b-1b yesterday as an awesome present from my bro in law. It wasn't linking to the phone until I updated to 4.3. Casio says only the iPhone and Galaxy 4 are officially supported, but everything is fully functional as of the update.

Congratulations! Could you post some photos and to tell what exactly gives that synchronisation?
It is too expensive for me in any case. I have had a G Shock watch, I have bought it in german Amazon for about 10-20 Euro, it is looking quite the same. It has an awful quality, despite Casio usually don't do a bull****, but one left button "mode" has fallen, so now I can use this watch only with arrows.
But I think for 180 dollars they do much better watch hehehe))
I just don't understand what gives that synch for such price? Has it geolocation or radiation detector?)
P.S. white watches in your link are fancy
Here are some pictures. Keeping it connected is kind if a pain though. Hopefully it improves.
It's pure Bluetooth, allows you to set alarms and find my phone if lost. Not as fancy as the smart watches but much more durable and last a couple years.

Problem with the smart watches is requiring to regularly recharge the battery. In addition to other mobile gadgets now there is a watch to recharge (!)
So how does the battery on the casio manage with bluetooth ?
G-shock is a term Casio has been using for over a couple of decades now.
It's says it will last about two years on its charge before the battery needs replacing. No recharging!
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
so what is the function of the bluetooth?
My guess is that if it's constantly connected to your phone then the knock on effect will be that both devices will be hit by the usage, unless they've found a way to drip feed the BT and retain battery?
Two years on one charge is pretty epic when you consider it connects via BT.
Perhaps a kinetic type watch which replenishes the juice when you move would be a better innovation.
I've got one of these and it works pretty well. You can get alerts for email, sms, facebook, twitter, etc. You can also control the phone from the watch with features such as skip forward/backward on your music player, play/pause, volume up/down etc. The watch even displays track name info and email & SMS sender on the display. The downs are that it's a very large & chunky watch and that's from someone with a large wrist and that the phone's battery is greatly affected by this connection. I carry ZeroLemon spare batteries so to me it's not as big of a deal but to others it may be a deal breaker. Another thing is I had to disable one of the features due to annoyance & something that does need to be addressed by the folks at Casio: Lost connection warning. This is a good idea and in theory is supposed to warn you before you leave your phone somewhere. In practice what it does is annoying alert (tone & vibrate) regularly when your phone is in your pocket next to you and the connection is just dropped. The connection is far less reliable than most bluetooth devices I use and this includes going back several years. Other than that the watch is supposed to last a couple of years on a single battery which the competition couldn't dream of (although old Nokias before smart phones were the same since they had limited features which is a similar comparison) are ultra durable and with a solid price point too. While I hope they add some more features and fixes easily done through app updates the watch itself is pretty solid as expected for a G-Shock.

G-Shock+ alternative: BlueWatcher
Hello everybody,
I'm the founder of the Android Application called "BlueWatcher". BlueWatcher is the alternative to G-Shock+ Android app to control CASIO Bluetooth watches. A lot of users missed functionality in the official app and I decided to release my own app including the functionality that users proposed me. It's evolving quickly!! Now it supports all kind of notifications (facebook, whatsapp, line... all installed apps), time synchronization, musico control...
You can visit http://www.bluewatcher.es to discover more about BlueWatcher and what BlueWatcher can do for you.
It has been tested my many users in the XDA Developers forum and now it has more than a hundred downloads (~4.70 punctuation at Play Store).
I'm here to help you ([email protected]). Feedback is welcome!
See you and hope you enjoy it!
Use the old version of Gshock App
Hey man, just use the old version of the Gshock App. and don't update it. It will work better again, connects automatically.
i'm also thinking on buying gshock with bluetooth, im just wondering if the music controls work with other music players such as spotify?
After Lollipop Update it didn't work
Can't connect on my Sony Xperia Z1 after the Lollipop Update. How about yours?

HTC 10 compatible VR Headset...

Had a play with a Samsung Gear VR recently and it was fun with definite potential for the casual user so I was looking to see if something similar (and similarly priced!) might be in the pipeline and compatible with our HTC 10 handsets... (ignoring the Vive of course as that is in a different league!)
Research reveals Google are hopefully working on something for universal android handset use http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...-headset-that-isn-t-made-of-cardboard-1314517 so thought I'd start this thread to discuss people's views on the HTC 10 + VR headset possibilities... [emoji41]

If you want any real VR usage get a Gear VR + Samsung phone. As of right now the only stuff that works with the HTC 10 would be Google Cardboard, which isn't particularly impressive in the same way the dedicated headsets and Gear VR are.

sure you're right. but my point was that it looks like Google will be releasing something similar this year to the Gear which will most likely work with the HTC...
So, as and when we hear more we can update the thread.

I am getting the Fiit VR 2N, it will use Cardboard app but the FOV is better, some says it's even better than GearVR
The BoboVR Z4 is the top notch in the budget VR,slightly better than Fiit VR with a FOV of 110 instead of 102 but it's the double in price

Most apps and games don't need a button, you can choose with your head, though you can buy a BT controller for VR for less than 10$ for games that need it, or your xbox360, PS3/4 gamepad
Edit: Just tried my Microsoft wireless mouse on the A9 using OTG and it's working even better than a gamepad, no need for special app or driver it's automatically detected by the phone, BTW you can control all the phone's UI with it

Ordered a Fiit VR 2N today from aliexpress, I should have it between 4 to 6 weeks, I will post my impressions coming from the Cardboard 2.0
I got a VR headset for my S5, it's pretty cool to begin with but I don't think any of the apps currently available are all that. There are certain types of video you can watch on it that are much better than watching on a TV but I don't want to mention it on a family forum.
This thing makes a pretty nice Cardboard phone. The pixel density on this is insanely high and isn't pentile. The pixel response rate is a little low so I wouldn't expect gaming, but video is pretty solid.
I am really interested in the HTC 10. Currently trying out the S7 edge and I must say I love the VR GEAR for watching movies. I don't really care about playing games. On the S7, there is this cool Oculus video app that allows you to watch movies in different settings, e.g theater, home theater, moon, etc. Netflix has a nice app as well for the Gear VR. Is something similar available for google cardboard?
How is below? anyone has used?

Yes, Google is actually building its own Daydream virtual reality headset
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/techcr...l-reality-headset/amp/?client=ms-android-htc#
BUT... not sure if it will work with HTC 10 though... even with Android N update...
http://www.theverge.com/2016/5/18/11703418/google-daydream-vr-platform-smartphone-manufacturers
Update 3:56pm ET:*A previous version of this article stated that Daydream will work on current-gen phones. That was inaccurate. The platform will only run on next-gen compatible phones.

What's "next-gen" though?
The SD820 is pretty new, and true "next gen" (10nm) Android SOCs are coming anytime soon, I don't think.

I guess HTC might know, but Google is probably the one you should ask since its their standard.
Also, there's this little blurb about the HTC 10 "supporting" the Vive:
http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20160311PD205.html
Given the ambiguity and lack of a link, the real meaning was probably lost in translation. We'll see, I suppose.
Considering that HTC Vive is going head to head with Oculus and Samsung in the VR market, I am surprise they dont have a goggle for their phone device.
Anyone tried BoboVR z4 with the 10?
Fiit VR 2N is pretty good with the 10, surely better than stock Cardboard 2.0, though with the given filter the view is too narrow and without it you have some empty space for FOV, but all and all it's still very enjoyable.
I recommend to add some foam or rubber tape on the sides so the screen won't touch the (hard) plastic before any use unless you have a thick case that is protruding above the screen, nobody knows if it can scratch the screen without them

So... How was it?
Daydream won't be on the HTC 10. The device has to have an AMOLED screen in order to be qualified. So the best you're going to get is the Bobo Z4 or something else.

Huawei watch 1 - Nothing looks as good

Hey
Am I the only person that thinks there isn't another smart watch that looks as good as the Huawei watch 1? I mean it's not too bulky and looks like a cool normal watch. I have a black one. I wish they would just release a new version with the same body but updated hardware. The only thing that irritates me is the notification buzz, it's too loud. I'f i'm at work it's annoying for the people around me. Other than that I think it's really cool. Had it for a good few years now.
Any just sharing my thoughts
Still using mine and it's absolutely amazing. Won't be changing it any time soon. Great watch.

Only just stopped using mine and it's simply down to the fact it doesn't have NFC. Still the best watch IMO, just lacking that one feature I like
I picked up a used one a couple of weeks ago and I love it. It looks GREAT, still runs very smoothly, and the display still seems to be one of the best around.
Fossil Q Gen 5 Carlyle looks good too, but is the new kid on the block ahahah

I actually just managed to bring up new life in my Huawei W1 by changing its battery myself(a lot easier than I thought...saw a youtube video). Got a battery from Aliexpress. The old one was very swollen.
Now it runs just as smooth as when I first got it.
Too bad that now I also want the Fossil 5 Gen(only because of NFC...and rotating bezel...and hopefully better charging procedure that does not require fiddling every damn time)
Just picked one up off kijiji for $100 CAD. Loved it the moment i saw it when it came out but didn't agree with Huawei's pricing. It IS beautiful, but people were not gonna spend that money on a brand that (back in those days) ppl didn't really know. It was always been on my mind. Jumped at the chance to get it. It's just a BEAUTIFUL watch! I get more compliments on it than on anything else. Just got back from 2 weeks in California. Tons of ppl asking me 'What the hell is that?!', followed by, "Wow! Nice!"
great watch, really loved mine. used it for 4 years......then the chargers started dying, 1 after another.....4 chargers later...the watch wont charge., only sometimes...was really sad
Have you tried polishing the contacts on the back of the watch? Same happened to mine, would only charge sometimes and only if the charger was in exactly the right place. Gave it a good clean and polish on the watch contacts (not the charger) and it's been working great since

What was your procedure for clean and polish? I've tried but it gets bad again pretty quickly.
I've got a dremmel / rotary tool thing that has a polishing attachment - I use that around the contacts then wipe down with a microfibre cloth afterwards.
I just got a GT2 for Christmas, which I really like. However my W1 is still the best looking smart watch.... If only Wear OS didn't suck battery so quick when on full sync. If sync is off I get several days of use, but sync on and I get a day and a bit if lucky. Whereas the GT2 will get a couple of weeks...

I think the GT2 looks better. How are you dealing with the lack of wearOS features? I have an original Huawei watch, looking at a GT/
Didn't use most features day to day so I'm fine.

Yep. Not been charged yet. Straight out of the box on Christmas Day. Still on 64%. I have constant heart monitoring, stress test and upped the screen timeout to 10 seconds.

Great price. The only thing it doesn't have is speaker phone and newer heart rate monitor. The rest seems to be pretty much the same. [emoji4]

I just bought the MK Lexington 2 Gold, loved the look of the watch, absolutely gorgeous...BUT... My 3 + Year old HW1 still gets better battery life and unfortunately neither live up to the Samsung GW 46mm. Still love and use my HW1, but it doesn't go on business trips.
BTW I returned the Mk.
