Hi, I was wondering how to remove and update clockwork recovery. I do not want to un-root my phone, I just want to remove and update clockwork recovery because of an issue.
No need to remove it, just look for an updated version to the one you have and install it.

So I download the newest version from http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager in the "Download Recovery" section then flash it, correct? I can just click PDA in odin and flash, right?

Slight problem, when I get it from the site it comes as .img. However, when I click PDA on odin it does not show the file. How is it that the people who make it give you a file that cannot be opened in odin while a file I get from some random person can?
If you have the ClockworkMod ROM Manager app, it lets you update your recovery to the latest version. Which is still 6.0.1.2 still. Much easier than flashing or anything else.

Well... if your version is actually out of date, it would be the very top selection in ROM Manager.... "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"

My device is not supported. It gives me a bunch of options and Samsung Galaxy S3 (Bell) is not listed.

Sorry, I keep messing up. I will only go on if I have a question, hopefully that will stop me from messing up.
Ever considered using TWRP instead of ClockworkMod? I was an avid CWM user for 2 years, but have been using TWRP for a few months and am not going back. Check it out here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1793224

I might switch. How do you remove CWM though?
Just download GooManager from the play store and open it, I think then you hit the menu key on your phone and hit "install recovery script". It will do everything for you.
I went to TWRP after CWM as well, and will never go back either!

I have done so and now have TWRP in place of CWM. My question is how do I delete all of the files and data associated with CWM in order to free up that space on my memory?
Just delete the "clockworkmod" folder on your sd card and you'll be all good.

are you s-off? and is the MD5 matching?
also, what type of computer (pc/mac/linux) are you using?
Yes I am s-off, using windows 7. I didn't have md5 checked in settings. I can see all my files but keep getting e: drive errors. should I have system and data checked in mount?

I follwed the guide to root the phone. however somethings was wrong and i not had the device completely rooted. i had superSU and other, but somethings was not very well. so i decided to come back to factory locked device, but i am not able to deleting TWRP from recovery mode. the device shows "locked" but if i try to recovery or updating the firmware it appears TWRP and i am not able to deleting it.
please i need very much to solve this issue
You can flash back the stock recovery. That will overwrite the custom twrp one.
And post this in the Q&A ! This is not development related !
Not really understanding your question
how can i flash back it?
what did you not understand marknoll?
If the bootloader is 'LOCKED' you won't be able to flash another recovery unless you lock it again or flash a recovery in RUU mode. What's your CID and current ROM version?

1. re-unlock your bootloader to show "unlocked" again. I think you know how as you did it before.
2. fastboot flash the stock recovery to replace TWRP. I think you know where to get that as I saw you post on recovery thread.
3. re-locked your bootloader if you want to do it
4. done

I am not sure what you are after here, he just needs his recovery back so he needs to flash it. This thread was created in the development section and therefore reported.....by me. Trust me .... I know how xda works. I'm not a so called noob as you can see at my profile and signature.
So i suggest you sit back and let the people help him who really want to help him instead of spamming this thread

Never called you stupid, and not flaming. Just sharing my opinion and that the OP is pretty clear about the issue he is having. If you think that's flaming or calling you names you can't read my posts clearly either. If you have further issues with me i suggest you take it to PM.
Spent enough on your matter.

Moderator moved thread (Sorry about that....old member, new poster!)
All other threads are for non-us variants. With everyone getting their phone this week from initial preorders, I thought it would be good to have a dedicated thread. Once it's up, we can close this and add it to the other image/recovery thread.

I'm referring to the thread titled [STOCK] Guides and Stock Backups/Recovery/OTA/RUU.
Nowhere does it indicate that thread is only for non-US variants. It only appears that way now because no one has uploaded anything for a US variant. I'd still upload it there so everything stays centralized.

I have requested it in a few threads and have not gotten any results. Since some people also contacted me to check if anyone had provided it to me yet, I felt it warranted a dedicated thread until it was available. It undoubtedly will be in higher demand now that U.S. customers are having their phones arrive.
Once available, we can move to other thread that we are discussing and lock this with a link.
I apologize if this was bad etiquette. I already urgently need the files; Apparently along with some other users...please quit kicking a dead horse (aka me! ).

Sent you a PM.
I'm uploading them to Dropbox, you can redistribute or reuse after that (you host). I'd appreciate credit if it helps you or the community.
I have not tested the recovery and I don't remember if it's .617. stock. I've used the system and boot images to fix the decrypted data partition issues mentioned here:

I believe I was trying to follow your instructions in the TWRP thread and I did it from within TWRP immediately after booting into recovery the first time.
As I mentioned, haven't looked at it, can't say if it's TWRP or stock .617. recovery.
EDIT: Sorry, very long night after recieving my phone.
Here was my process:
Booted first time.
Unlocked bootloader
Flashed TWRP
Backup Images - in zip uploading now.
Root
S-off

There's one In the twrp thread. You can flash twrp to boot partition and back up stock recovery that way, then flash boot back
