Tether extremely slow

Hi , When I try to tether my galaxy note 2 (unlocked, international version, bought without contract, stock rooted rom), the speed is extremely slow , it is nearly like a crawl in comparison to the mobile speed. I tried both USB and Wifi so far . Would the provider have a way to detect that I am tethering and thus cap my data? or otherwise what happened? and how I can speed up the connection?
Yes they can detect.

[Q] Wifi drops on my Note 2 (Tab 2 no problems)

Hi All,
I have a problem with my wifi connection.
It's keep dropping the speed, and i dont know what to do.
The speed i have is:
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (4.1.1) 1.87 Mbps
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 7" 32.12 Mbps
So i dont think the problem is in my router but in my Note 2....
So what can i do to fix the problem ?

[Q] LTE or Not LTE

Hello,
I am considering buying a second Galaxy Note 2 just in case I lose or drop the 1st one.
My 1st one is N7100, and I am wondering if I should go for N7100 or N7105 for the 2nd one.
I have one question. Does N7105 work on a non LTE contract without any inconvenience? (Like battery life?)
I have SFR Red 3GO. So, I have no LTE now, but maybe I may take LTE in the future. So, if there is no inconvenience, I would go for N7105.
Is it possible to turn off LTE? How does this work?
The battery on the LTE version is worse, regardless of if you're using 4G or have LTE turned off.
If you have enough money to buy a second phone incase you lose or drop your first, then I'd suggest waiting for the Note 3.

If you flash a lot of ROMs and stuff and you want better battery life go for the NON LTE version, otherwise pick yourself up a LTE Version.
The non-LTE version should, in theory, have better battery life, even if your not using LTE.
Its radios are integrated onto the exynos SoC which allows for better power management while the LTE model doesn't.
Dunno how much this affects in practice though.

Furthermore the N7100 version, there is more custom Rom for it you flash!
Thank you for all of you!!
So, what I heard about the battery life is true!!
I will probably go for N7100.
PS: I am not so keen on waiting and going for Note 3, as Note 2 is sufficiently fast. I have also read that Galaxy S4 has a bad battery life. So, maybe Note 3 will be the same.

Why don't you wait until you lose or break your current phone until you get a new one.
Similarily, I would recommend getting the LTE version as you already have the 3G version.

if your networ allow LTE connection - then ofcoure LTE version of note2
if you need more battery then you can swich to 3g only
or if you need even more power - try to extended battery mugen/zerolemon
in my country I have on poor signal 20Mb download / 5Mb upload
on 3-4 stick coverage - 30-40Mb download / 40Mb upload !
so on 3g you will never get so much speed
only one dissapoinment - not much custom ROMS avialible

Thank you for your advice.
It may sound stupid, but I always feel like buying at least two when I find something I like. And, as it takes some time to buy another phone and set it up to my liking, I would prefer buying another one before I have a problem with the 1st one..
I finally think I will go for N7105.

Thank you. Having a lot of custom roms to choose from is an important factor for me, too. That's one of the reasons why I have been hesitating, but I think I will go for N7105.

S4 Mini duos I9192 very slow 3g speed

i've had an S4 mini duos fro 3 days that replaces my Note 2 as i wanted a smaller phone with good features.
before i got the S4 i made sure to check all the reviews and youtube videos and made a lot of camparisons on gsmarena.
Not a single site or review mentioned how terrible 3g speed is on this phone.
Check this comparison of HSDPA speeds supported by some device:
S4 mini i9192------14.4 Mbps
Note 2 n7100------21.2 Mbps
S4 i9500 -----------42.2 Mbps
Mega 6.3 i9200---21.2 Mbps
i made a side by side comparison with a friends Mega 6.3 phone using 2 apps,
speedtest
, average of 3 tests showed the s4 mini returned half the speed of the mega phone
netwrok signal info (on vodafone egypt)
the mega connected much more frequently on 14.4 than the mini, and with better network signal percent
the mini stayed almost all the time on 7.2 and only touched 14.4 for couple seconds then returned back to 7.2.
As both the mega and s4 mini have the same CPU from qualcom, i belive there is an either with the antenna of the S4 mini, which is shorter/weaker due to its smaller size, or the software of the mini is not yet optimized due to the dual sims/antennas
either way, i really am disapointed with the 3g performance of the s4 mini duos, which is a pitty as i love all other aspects of this phone.
Did anyone else face slow 3g speeds with the mini, or am i the only one?
!
yes it is slow also for me too.by this reason i sold my phone and go back to S4.
regards

hi,
I'm facing some strange issues with the mini duos.
while on 3G, email client is not connecting for sync, and facebook messenger is not working properly ( when a send messages, it's saying sending... and takes an eternity to send it ) although internet browsing is working fine and even faceboko wall browsing is loading fine, also google maps is working, so there's internet connection definitely.
i did a speed test today with radio opt, and seems to be ridiculous speed
dowload: ~400kbps
upload: ~100kbps
ping: not working..
I'm wondering what could be the cause ...
are the email client and facebook messenger using different types of connections to internet browser, google maps and so on?
On wifi, everything is working fine!
Regards,
Robert.

would you please try if your device behaves the same way as mine on 3G , see my previous post?
Thank you!

I never got my phone to connect past 14.4 but you are right it mentioned 21.1 on the box.
Still it is waaay slower than my note 2 which was also 21.1.
I've just done a speed test. See attached picture.
So that puts it firmly in the 14.4 Mbps bracket. Maybe Samsung are telling fibs

can you download "network signal info" app from the play store and tell us if it ever connects above 14.4?
Mine doesn't even in very strong signal areas.

i get some strange behaviours also, but for me the phone would show the "H" signal and "network signal info" would clearly show connection on 14.4 Mbps, yet i don't have any data connectivity and speed test would just show "communication error".
i would stay like that for a couple of minuted, discconnects and reconnects the HSPA connection by itself and then start working fine.
I still belive it is either a weak antenna by design or immature modem drivers. I'm hoping it is the later and samsung would fix it by a firmware update.
PS: i've had a note 2 for one year and before that a note one for another year and neither one of them had similar issues with data connection.

I've downloaded the program via WI-FI but I will have to wait until I go to work later to test it on 3G as I live in a very rural area with only 2G coverage.
I've also contacted my service provider (3UK) and they say that the strength and speed of the signal is dependent on what part of the country you are in, big city's being the best.
Here is the result of my test. It connects OK but it dose really depend on which area I'm in.

so the S4 mini duos chip has the ability to connect on 21.6. the problem again seems to be either hw (antenna design) or Sw(modem drivers) beacuse the S4 mini is consideraby slower than a note 2 or a galaxy mega 6.3 depending on personal observations and tests.
i've solved part of my problem by buying a second sim from anthother service provider "etisalat" that have better 3g coverage in egypt and use it on sim slot 1 only for data.
Now i get speeds a bit closer to what i used to get with vodafone on the note 2. and my vodafone data coverage using the s4 mini is hoplessly slow in areas where it used to be fine in the note 2.
where does that leave us??
should the S4 be considered defected because of its inferior 3g cabability in comparison with the handsets from a level up (s3, s4, the notes), or should we consider it as something that should be expected from a handset that is a category lower and with smaller screen size / dimensions?
do all Samsung handsets of screen sizes 4.3 or lower face the same issue?
I think it's only a modem drivers problem.. AMH2 software is really buggy for me.

The phone is a week old and I'm using it on the 3UK network. Everything on the phone has UAMF7 at the end. Not rooted.
I've only managed to get it to connect at 21.1Mbps twice and most of the time it's at 14
I have never got signal above 14mb, Note 2 keepa saying 21mb all the time with the same sim card, maybe it's firmware fault?
Sent from my GT-I9192 using Tapatalk 2
The only difference I can see is in my screen shot I have the + sign next to the H in the top bar when on 21.6Mbps and yours doesn't, plus you have the R for roaming in your top bar. That normally means your roaming on to the Orange network (EE now) because it can't pick up the 3UK network.
What is the net operator number?
I've been in Birmingham UK all week and the phone constantly connects at 21.6Mbps so I think it's more network related than the actual phone.
Hmmm interesting, I live in Manchester and everywhere around here I have 14mb only. Do you own a duo s4 mini?
What's your firmware kernel etc please
What's your network? Mine is 3UK
Sent from my GT-I9192 using Tapatalk 2
Yes i own a Duos S4 Mini I've had it about 3 weeks now. Not rooted all stock as it came out of the box.
I'm on 3UK the same as you.
When you see the + sign next to the H (H+) thats when it's on 21.6 Mbps
See file below for the rest of the info.

Galaxy S9 WiFi available signal drop and strenght lower than S5

I have S9 G960F. After searching available wifi signals, some wifi lover wifi 2 or 1 dash is droping and losing. I'm put Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S9 on my bed, and search for available wifi..After finish search, Galaxy S5 is find 7-8 available wifi signals to connect, but S9 only 3 wifi, and 2 wifi after few second they lose, and then after a few seconds, they come all the way..
Settings/Wifi/Advanced/Wifi power save is OFF
Are you using a case on the phone? Some cases do degrade the signal a little. I haven't experienced it with the S9 but my previous Honor 8 lost a lot of the signal with the case I was using on it.

Return the phone, sounds like a hardware fault, maybe loose antenna
