[Q] Few questions before buying - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

Hi,
I going back and forth between the Tab Pro 10.1 or the Ipad Air 16gb... on one side I like the feeling and look of ios.. my phone currently is a Galaxy S4 and run great but it's not jaw dropping in term of menus or look. My mom have an ipad Air and looks and feel great... the only thing that is keeping me away from it is the lack of memory expansion... my budget is around the 16gb model and is not enough... with the tab pro I plan on buying a 64fb memory and copy movies and videos from my computer to the tablet... few questions regarding this tablet: does the galaxy pro read divx coded? .mkv?, .avi, etc? I know on the ipad you would have to convert movies to mp4 in order to play it.... another questions is about the performance... is the performance on browsing, apps, youtube, etc... similar to the galaxy S4 or better? is the tab pro a good option to replace the use of a laptop (I'm talking about basic stuff like email, browsing, watch movies, music, etc)?

The tab pros are very smooth. There are multiple free apps that will play any movie format you desire. That 16GB I pad will fill up quickly. I know from experience. Can't beat the microsd expansion for movies and music.
Also you don't have to covert your movies for ipad. You can use Azul, VLC, or other apps to play any format as well.

There is one player and it does everything, google BSplayer. It even search and downloads subtitles automatically from the web.

Will it play youtube videos smoothly?

Well last year i excitedly got my samsung galaxy S because it can play flash videos natively but it sometimes stutters and struggles when streaming online flash video. I remember i even got it working on some sites that stream movies, if it uses flash.
I never tried the Galaxy S II or Nexus S, so i'm just wondering if this phone, which the specs are like twice as good, would be able to play those streams completely smooth?
It has a dedicated decoder chip. Should be fine.
I voided my warranty and your nexus.

[Q] Want to buy A100 for Son

Looking to buy the Iconia Tab A100 for my son. I have an Asus transformer and i love it, but wanted to get him something smaller. This tab seems to be a nice one. I wanted to make sure of the following things.
1) Movies work (avi)
2) Netflix works (without root)
3) any good "kid type" case reccomendations?
Thanks for help
Hello friend! I will do my best to provide relevant answers to your questions!
1) Most movies do work! Even in resolutions of 720p and 1080p. Of course, not all video files are encoded correctly. There can be wide degrees of variation in quality between video files; trying to play a 1080p avi movie file with an extremely high bitrate (much like how MP3s are in 128 kilobytes per second(kbps), 192kbps, 256kbps, 320kbps etc) will cause stuttering and jittery playback. But the Tegra 2 platform can play 1080p content. Perhaps an SD card with high read speeds could remedy this (or using SD-Booster to bolster the read-ahead value of the SD card) but I am not certain, as I have not extensively tested this.
2) Netflix works, albeit a bit jittery in operation (i.e. browsing instant play selections) but video works great. Being rooted does not affect its operation.
3) I have not looked into kid-friendly accessories, but browsing Amazon's selection of A100 accessories may yield a nice prize.
And by the way, I am selling my own Iconia A100 tablet.
Cheers!

Sorry mate, the tab has been sold already. I sold it because I found myself using it less and less after getting my shiny new Sensation.
Haven't tested sky video calling on it, so I cannot comment.
Cheers!
anyone else know if skype works on A100?

[Q] Purchased Movies Poor

I purchased a movie from Google Play and 2 movies from Samsung Hub. When I play them on my tablet ever now and then there is a noticeable jitter/missed frame or whatever the term! They all downloaded to my tablet so this is not a wifi issue. Last night I wanted to give it a try when my daughter was over on our family TV using the AllCast hub and it was pitiful! Yes we can now blame wifi except for the fact that we also have Apple TV, she has an iPad, and we watched a movie from her iPad flawlessly!
Big win Apple!
Has anybody else bought any movies and if so how is it working for you?
Update:
1) I just played this on my last year's model of the Note 10.1 and it does much better on the TV
2) Since I can use both tablets the download must be just to my account and not actually to my tablet like I thought

Kinda weird question

So I picked up a G4 and iPhone 6 Plus today. My plan is to use the iPhone as more of an entertainment device music, movies and games since apple has better games in their store unfortunately. Anyway I was wondering if it was possible to download movies from the G4 and pass them over to the iPhone somehow? I know you can download the torrent files on the G4 but passing them is what I'm drawing a blank. If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it a lot thank you in advance!

I've never tried that. But maybe go G4 -> computer, then via iTunes, copy the video to the iPhone?
The G4 would be the much better media device since all you need to do is drag-and-drop and watch as you please. Not mention the expandable storage. With iOS, you're pretty much stuck with iTunes sync and then the hassle of file conversions and so on.
As for games, iOS runs it better. My 5S blows the G4 out of the water. Doesn't matter having a high resolution if games need to run at lower settings and still doesn't feel as smooth.

Xperia Play games to TV? (Nintendo Switch Style)

I have a rooted Xperia Play that plays GBA and PS1 games pretty well. But I want to see if I can play them on the big screen too. Kind of like how the new Nintendo switch can handle games on the big screen and in your hand.
Obviously, there's no HDMI ports on it, and Screen Mirroring doesn't seem to be an option either. Is there any other way to get video from it to the tv?
I'd be fine with using another device to play games as well, as long as it's compatible with saves from the phone. I was thinking that plugging it into a Mad Catz Mojo micro-console as an external storage device might work. I figured I should ask first however before dropping $100~ dollars on 'useless' tech.
I have a custom built gaming computer as well, but having to fire that up to play games seems like a bit of a hassle... or at least not as fun. Especially since syncing android emulators to PC ones might be tough.
I know it won't exactly be 4K visuals no matter what I use, but it would be fun to figure out and play with. Plus... I love tinkering like this in general.
No way of doing it nativly. Your best option would be to buy a cheap android TV box or HMI stick you can pick them up on ebay for sub $50, look for one with a RK3288 and 2gb of ram, should run most things.
Most games and EMUs support cloud saving, just link the emu or game to cloud saving and you can play both on the TV or on the go with your play.

By "HMI", do you mean HDMI? Either way, I read that the Mad Catz mojo could handle emulators pretty well and has access to the Google Play store. Using the same emulator would make syncing saves easier, right? I did read that cloud saving was an option, but I wanted to be sure about everything before I spent $5 on a incompatible app... or $100 dollars on the wrong equipment.
