[Q] Wi-Fi Calling on Google Play Edition - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

I'm away from home for the summer, in a place where I get horrible service, so I need Wi-Fi calling here. But I tried a Google Play edition rom, and I love it. Is there a way to get Wi-Fi calling on Google play edition. Thank you in advance for any help, suggestions.

No, there isn't. Sadly. Wi-Fi calling is only available on stock Sense roms. Or the stock ROM the phone comes in.

[Q] GS3 TMO: CM10 JB ROM + wifi calling?

Hey guys, i have a few questions
i have a tmobile gs3 and am passionately waiting for the JB OTA update. Untill then however, i would love to use CM10 JB ROM. THe only problem is that it doesnt have the tmobile wifi "built-in" app for that. So does anyone know a way for that to happen? (PM me if you know a way).
Also, currently im am using ICS and it seems like i need at least one bar of cellular coverage for wifi to work. If i am not registering a cellular network, my wifi will not work. I noticed this pretty recently and was wondering if it is like that normally. Are there apps or fixes that can allow you to use wifi if you are not registering cellular network at all (kinda like an airplane mode)?
Thanks alot
I will donate to developers if they can help me out
Don't want to be one of those people, but there are a lot of threads on it. But, pretty much, unless it has changed recently, there isn't a wifi-calling for any CM stuff yet and not sure if there will be. Some people were working on a project. There are other roms out there that do have working wifi calling though, might want to take a look at those.
Also, you don't need cell signal for the wifi calling to work.

What do u mean a WiFi built in app? Also have u tried any new radios for cell coverage? And WiFi does not need any cellular service at all

thanks for quick reply guys.
i have had cm10 jb on my gs3 and then i decided that i needed tmobile wifi calling. so once i downloaded stock ics from samsung and installed it, my wifi calling only works when i am registering the cellular network. If i dont have any bars (and wifi is connected) it won't call at all. wjat could be the fix for this?
Did you do a clean install..

Well if u flashed the stock ROM with Odin like u said let it boot up then go into stock recovery or if u have a custom recovery wipe data and caches. To get in it is the same way either way. Vol up, home, and power at same time
I just moved to CM10 a few minutes ago and personally, I don't know how I would ever go back to anything less than this. Why worry about WiFi calling when there are plenty of VoIP alternatives that use Google Voice?

can i somehow set it up so that when my tmobile number is unavailable, it redirects it to google voice? But only when my number is unavailable (as in i wouldn't want to set the redirect every time i am planning to go off service). The thing is that i go to school and i see patients all day long, and in some places i have reception and in some i dont. its very irregular and unpredictable. so if i could set it up in the way that "if unavailable, redirect to google voice" type of thing, i would be a happy camper.
Oh and also, even my google voice does not work if i am not registering a cellular network just a bit. (help with this too?)
thanks guys

im not sure what i did, but i know that i did not specifically erase any data. it just seems that wifi calling is an integral part of the firmware that any "random" data on the phone should no phase it. hmm...
Can someone confirm that CM10 JB has a option in the Phone App menu to forward a call when unreachable? I donw want to go thru the hassle of installing it if it doesnt have that option.
thanks alot guys

I'll look into this further and see what I can uncover for you. I use GrooveIP for my VoIP needs and it was a godsend when I was on the $30 plan with T-Mobile. Hopefully I can find something that will suit your needs in the process.

There should be a setting for phone forwarding just like any other OS/phone. Just change it to your GV number and should be GTG.

JDQ39 tether (rooted) issues..?

I don't know if this is an issue with the new OS but it seems that we cannot run tethering apps (rooted). specifically it is the WEXT (ad-hoc) function... Which as far as I can tell is the way it broadcasts to other computers. Please don't respond telling me to use "foxfi" or some other "non-rooted" app. The reason we use the rooted ability is to be able to bypass the network hoops and use a "backdoor" to get what's rightfully ours. The function of teather ring was working fine on the pervious jellybean OS so it goes to say that someone just needs to fix this bug. Please help

I guy offered up a fix and signed it with his developer key here: code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/issues/detail?id=1661#c109 (can't link it since I'm new)
It'll tide you over until they officially fix it in the Play Store.
It's near perfect (laptop connects and gets out fine, but my Vita connects and cannot get out... to the internet).
OK I'm a dummy at this point. I downloaded the patch ( from user pfnguyen on post #109) its a ".man" file..? Not sure what to do with this... Am I going in the right direction?

There's an actual file there. Use your browser's search function to look for ".apk".
If you're a Sprint user, it won't work. Look for WiFi Tether Router in the Play Store. I'm using that now and it works fine.

I have similar issue with vzw gnex
I tired Mwalt2s method of disabling native tether check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176954
But I still get errors on startup of wifi tether. Does the above instructions apply to vzw as well?
Thanks,
Pupule
OK so this download form "pfnguyen" in the "TrevE Mod" which I already had. So how does one get this thing to work? The phone is verizon so I don't know if that makes a diff. There are a lot of settings on this app and I really have no idea what they really mean. Really... I'm dumb when it comes to this so you're gonna have to draw it out in crayon for me

you either need the customized version of wifi tether or you need to use the built-in tether tool. customized version is kicking around here on the forums, I think I found it over in the CM.1 Nightlies thread myself.
I'm using "Hotspot Toggle Widget" by Fattin (4.2.2 | Verizon).
The app does not provide hotspot functionality per se. It is a widget to toggle the built-in hotspot on and off. It bypasses the annoying carrier check that checks if you have a tether plan or not.
Great for those of us who are still enjoying grandfathered unlimited data.
The app also does not require root.

Thank you

my carrier-sprint --must have a hook in their version of JB 4.2.1........I am wanting to enjoy my unlimited also like before the individual charges and money came into play... I use to use my G1(HTC Dream) and other Android phones to access the net for what I needed back in the dayzz...I know its possible. I just need the guidance
If someone is interested, here is the solution for using the USB tethering on Mac (instead of using the WiFi hotspot)

K.... I finally figured it out. I thank you guys for your input. I got Sourcery 5.1 installed and I got my hotspot working with no flaws...my next involved mod is gonna be on a Alps Mid 7 dual sim card unit running 4.04-GSM/FM Transceiver... Im thinking active frequency jumping is what I want my radio to do.. This is the place for it to be done. Ideas ROMs and kernels will be appreciated

[Q] Are there any hopes of getting T-Mo wifi calling working on the GPe?

Title pretty much says it all...is T-Mobile wifi calling working on the GPe S4 yet? And if not, do we have any hopes of getting it working any time soon?
I'm seriously considering dropping VZ like a bad habit, but wifi calling would be a must to be able to use my phone at work.
I don't think so. It's a T-Mobile feature. I wish it would. Wi-Fi calling is a must for me too. My house is in an LTE area but my house is kind of going downhill. And it's surrounded by trees. Wi-Fi calling is a feature that made me switch to T-Mobile along with unlimited everything and cheap prices. And Wi-Fi calling is only available in the T-Mobile stock ROM.

There is a thread about getting wifi calling to work on other ROMs in the developers only section. People have been trying for years now with no avail. That is why I have never used a non TW rom.

Fwiw, VoIP apps can work quite well, AND the calls are free, unlike with wifi calling.
Some are simple to use such as Spare Phone, GrooveIP, etc. but may introduce some voice delay. I use Sipdroid and it's really been improved with virtually no delay and sounds great. Sipdroid requires a free account at pbxes.org.
Note that all VoIP apps require the use of a secondary #. I use Google Voice which is also free.
I rock Sipdroid on my GE ROM phone with no problem.
Again, fwiw.

No WiFi Calling - Android N

Hey folks. Problem here. I've been racking my brain and searching everywhere to see if anyone else has had this issue but I can't find any relevant information considering Android N has only been out for a short time.
I have no WiFi calling. Like at all. I am a Project Fi user, so this is pretty crucial, especially when I get no service at several places that I frequent bit have WiFi access. Project Fi has all of the correct permissions, AOSP Phone and Google Phone apps are both installed but there is no option in settings for WiFi calling..
Not really sure how to fix this issue. It was working fine before I upgraded to Android N.. Any Fi users experiencing the same thing?
