[Q] Why no Cyanogenmod forum in the Custom ROM Central section? - About xda-developers.com

Why there is no general section to discuss Cyanogenmod on the forums?

Because it depends on the device .. All devices cannot accept the same version CMs

So do the other ROMs in the Custom ROM Central section
Wouldn't a separate CM section provide easier access to general information, than digging in countless device sub forums!?

CyanogenMod is massive, so is there website which even has it's own forums: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/
I think that's why they don't bother having one here

I'm really hoping for a cm12 soon with a new update

[ROM][CM9][OFFICIAL] Cyanogen mod OFFICIAL CM9 | 06/01/13

Hey Everyone.
I'm am not an S owner but recently i've noticed that Cyanogenmod website added Xperia S to their list of supported devices...
Have searched the forum and didn't find that info here so here you go:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=stable&device=nozomi
Screen from cyanogenmod site attached....
That's a good info but if you didn't create it doesn't belong here, info belongs to the general section ,there's already a thread for CM 9 and it is maintained by the members of cyanogen team , i will ask a mod to move this..
Sent from my Xperia S using xda premium
We all know By the way thanks
On the page "get.cm", there is a section for nozomi since long time
But we have a FXP Team and they make all for us
the device has official cm9 support since "2012-08-11" !
not being aggressive but i see no point of this thread !
screen shot ????
are you blind?

[Q] Quick Question regarding Official CM10.2

I have done a couple of searches both on Google and within the forum without success. Maybe my search strings were to specific or not specific enough, but I do know that we don't have an 'Official' CM10.2 flo thread in the Original Android Dev section, while we have several 'unofficial' ones in the regular Android Dev section (I do love DJ's Kang ROM.)
Point is, why isn't there one? Are we still waiting for team CM to designate a person to head up project Flo/Razor? Just curious as to why it is still missing from our forum? And new flash addicts may not be aware of the get.cm link.
There is an official Nightly. There is no official stable release.

Multiple Android Development threads?

I have done a little searching and cannot find an answer. Why in some device forums are there a "[DEVICE NAME] Android development" and "[DEVICE NAME] Original Android Development" sub-forums? I don't get the different between the two. Can anyone shed some light?

"Original" in this sense are only ROMs that are compiled from source, so AOSP, AOKP, CM Versions. Additionally SOME Sense-Roms may be inducted here, if they include truly extraordinary development. This decision is to be made by moderators.

This is what the sticky in some of the HTC device forums say. Original, meaning, it can't be based on some one else's ROM. So , ports , themed ROMs, tweaked ROMs, modified stock ROMs, etc are some of the stuff that are NOT included in original android development. Some kernels which are based on some other kernel source which was developed and have no or less significant unique features are also NOT original android development.
Hope this clears some part of it for you.

So the ORIGINAL "tag" just means that all of the development work in the thread is COMPLETELY original correct?
So would this mean the official releases of ROMs like CM, Paranoid Android, etc, would be in the original thread? Or just the regular thread?
Also, why are some root methods in the original, and some in the regular thread?
Thanks!

Official ROMs will be in original android development , as it would mean it would have been built by a maintainer.. i.e. he may have contributed to the actual ROM source code.. also some unofficial builds of ROMs which are extraordinary may be included in it. I can't exactly explain why some root methods or some ROMs are in original development .. it is on the discretion of the moderators who manage the particular forums.. There's no particular superiority of a ROM being and a ROM not being in original. I just am informing you about what it is supposed to be.. there maybe exceptions depending upon the various moderators. Also , I must mention , you should not judge a ROM by its position in the forum. Judge them on how you like them and the amount of effort put in it by the various developers of the ROM.. Hope that clears your doubt.

Nah I don't judge ROMs by their position. All of the phones I've had only had one Android Development forum. Lol.

AOSP?

I got my m9, coming from the GS3 and I love this phone. I use SlimRom on my gs3 and I noticed there isn't a port for the m9. From what I'm finding, there aren't any AOSP based roms on the m9? I see that CrDroid has a gapps package with mostly AOSP apps and is CM based. Is there a particular reason for no such development or is it simply because the m9 doesn't yet have enough users? OR: am I mislead about what the AOSP actually is, and I'm looking for a fairy?
You posted the question in the M9+ General Forum, you should ask in the M9 General Forum.
Yep... That I did. Not sure how to close this either
@SeanMurphy
Thread moved to M9 q&a section, that's where questions go.

M9 uses 64 bit proc which is challenging for AOSP devs to port over to. You can follow the progress in the Cyanogen Mod thread in Original Development section. I think the rom works, but no camera and still on 1.32 firmware. Once Cyanogen gets up and running I think most of the other AOSP devs will be able to join the fray. If I'm not mistaken, Slim is based on CM.
