I downloaded the rom via LG Support Tool yesterday. I was looking to do so because the leaked ICS rom would restart on me multiple times daily so I could not install ROM manager and flash the rooted version of the official rom. Tried all available rooting tools including Matt's method, Superoneclick, UnlockRoot, and TPSparky. Can someone help me?
Best way, that i choose is install CWM ROM from HO!NO! You need to go though unbricking guide. You can flash leaked firmware from .exe, then root and flash stock GB images. On 10f you can install CWM, then flash rooted 20c.

The only problem is that the leaked rom is unstable and sometimes takes 10 times of it restarting before it lets me get the device on.

You don't have to use the leak... Just download v20c and flash it in CWM.

To clarify, to use HoNo's CWM-flashable version of the official ICS (not the leak), you have to have installed the leak, then unbricked to GB, rooted, and installed CWM. If you haven't flashed the leak, you will boot loop trying to install HONO's CWM version of the new official/stock ICS.

Mine never bootlooped at all.
@mattman86,
It's not installing the ICS leak that does the trick, it's going through the unbricking guide, which you've definitely done because you basically created your own revision lol.

Oh, I see... My bad.
I would need to go back to the leaked ROM in these cases, which is a problem. It is unstable on my device and I might have to send it back to LG for the 3rd time. I need a method of rooting that does not require flashing a ROM.

It didn't work. I have the Transformer Prime and I started with the premise that the Transformer Prime root techniques worked on ICS Leak, so I thought maybe voodoo root keeper would work when upgrading to the official release, but no dice. The upgrade wipes everything clean except the data on the SD card.
I had to run the unbrick procedure.
So there is no way to properly install Clockworkmod from the leak? I've tried to and it gives me this message at boot, "secure booting error! Cause: boot certification verify".
So I need to take it all the way back to gingerbread then install clockworkmod? Please help, I'm confused!

Finally have rooted V20c!!!! I still haven't been able to install clockworkmod so what I did was brianlil's method. Once I rooted V18f via TPSparkRoot and let the phone reset itself 30-40 times (for some reason V18f is notorious for that on my phone. Caused me to ship it back to LG twice). Then I put the image files brianlil provided on SD card and flashed using adb. Turned phone offf, removed battery, factory reset, and voila, rooted LG Nitro HD 4.0.4!!

to flash roms on 4.4.X you have to have a newer version of TWRP. You are on the old version. Restore from back up if you have wiped and update TWRP before flashing. It should be 2.6.3.2 the version you have has a different kernel and it will not work

Yeah I understand but a high % of people on here don't read everything before trying something. If you don't remind him that it just for reference but may differ he may try it. It would probably fail because of the locked boot loader but still just have to be careful.
One guy hard bricked his V500 by flashing V510 stuff over it. Now he had to trick it to receive OTAs but it is possible.

I did a restore to stock V10k, rooted, installed cwm for freegee

Hello. I have looked at the forum for how to install twrp on my Lg G3 D855 lollipop.
First I have rooted my phone withh this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951, that worked fine now I read that I have to go to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-update-to-lollipop-root-bumpd-twrp-t3048845 tread to install twrp, but I can't seams to figure this out.

2: will the other guide then reset my phone so it will be like a new rom installation or what.

yes I have seen that but I dont know how to use this.
Will this reset my phone like a new rom or what, I tried the one i Linked earlier but that only gave me root but not the recovery, as what I can see when I try to enter recovery is says if I want to factory reset my phone and I was affraid to click yes there.

it will only install recovery, it will not reset it like new. Its a very simple one click script.
Ok, I ran the one click that I linked and that seemed to install recovery, I didn't know how to enter it the correct way.
So I ran the script on my D852 all went good but when I try to boot into recovery mode by holding down button and power button all I get is red light blue light. Then pull the battery and it boots back into stock. Weird...does it hurt anything to try to run the script again?
Thanks for the help!
@beaver5963, seems like you missed something and got a secure boot error. It would be nice if you could provide more details. Did you get the correct kk firmware for your model? Appropriate custom recovery image (twrp)? Rest of the stuff looks quite automated... I used the previous version of imageprep btw.

[/COLOR @beaver5963, in case you do run the script again... It would be great if you log the messages produced.

the link in OP's second post has worked like a charm for me.

Hello Again,
So I downloaded a kitkat firmware for my d852 that came in TOT format. Does anyone have instructions on how to use the automatic script with a TOT file versus the KDZ file as it is different. Sorry for all the questions but I am just trying to learn all this stuff. Thanks for the help!

@beaver5963, maybe you can look for a tot to kdz converter... Not sure if one exists.

I also got red and blue lights when I tried to go into recovery and then got a boot configuration error. Anyway to fix this? I just updated to lollipop on verizon. If I can't get this to work, I'm going to say screw it.

....tnx but I don't use it.
btw never wrote 'simple'. However in the tangle of threads I apparently "helped" someone out, pointing a link. To me felt kinda sad, just like explaining what I meant........
