Dears,
Hope you are having a great time.
I just switched from using Nexus 5 to LG G3, I was really excited for this phone that I went and got the Korean version. The phone is SO LAGGY and slow, it takes (1.5 ~ 2 seconds) to launch YouTube which is pretty slow compared to the Nexus, I need some help and I have no expertise at ALL in developers stuff:
- Can I turn the LG G3 into a Stock android ? similar to how the S4 GPE ?
- What's the difference between "Rooting" and "Custom Rom" ?
- I read in the development section of the forum (can't post a comment there since I'm a new member) and there is one topic that has a light version of the LG G3 system, it seems the system is much much faster and improved, the question is, is it safe ? the owner of the topic included a zip file to download and a video in a language I don't understand, could someone help do what he did ?
Regards,
The korean versions comes with so much bloat, its unbelievable. Wait for International Version and then flash it, and it will be smooth. Its just that crap bloatware which make it slos

Hey, sorry to bother you, can you explain step by step what to disable and how to turn down the animation? I'm a newbie .. .
First go to apps manager, select the apps u want to disable. Then go to deinstall updates. After that go to the apps again, and there will be an disable button, but some apps u cant disable
2)go to settings-->Telefon Info -- Software Information- -- tap 5 times to build number now u are an developer.
Go to settings again ---- developer option-- enable it --- scroll down to the 3 animation who are set to 1x. All 3 animation turn to 0.5x
I hope i could help u , reply if it worked
Thanks a lot
it made the phone (a bit) better.
However, I would really be glad if someone can explain to me how to do the process step by step for the topic mentioned in the developers section titled (always stay update)
Careful when testing opening the YouTube app, as that app is notoriously slow opening compared to all other apps. It takes around 2 seconds on all phones, unless it's already open. (ie, in the RAM)

Thanks, I understand.
YouTube is not the ideal app to test the phone's speed, however, I will still HIGHLY appreciate your kind help with the topic I mentioned, another member posted in the developers section a thread named Always stay updated, which he explains a patch that you put in your phone to fix it, I really really need anyone's help to understand how the user did that, I have 0 experience in this.

EDIT: If you're missing iZat (read below to see if you already have it) I may have found a way to install it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54558037&postcount=11, requires root though!
So I heard on reddit about this Qualcomm iZat, which is meant to improve the GPS location your phone gets, seems some people have it and some people don't.. I'm one of the people who don't
It sounds like all the chipsets have it though, just some phones don't have it enabled. My D855 doesn't have it, but on reddit it seems some people with the Sprint model have it and some others with the same model don't.
You can check if you have it by going to Settings -> Location -> Mode and underneath the standard options there'll be an Enhanced Location section where you can enable iZat.
If anyone here has it and wants to help us who don't out, uploading your /system/build.prop would be appreciated (it looks like theres some iZat settings in there)
If you could also check your apps to see if theres a Qualcomm iZat app installed that'd be swell
Nope, i don't have it i think?
Got a D855 (16GB) but no extra option whatsoever
Not seeing it in either of the locations you mentioned. (AT&T D850 here.)

Well that's strange, I wonder why they're only enabling it on certain phones
For reference I found out about it from http://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/2c3k3s/lg_g3_and_geocaching_how_is_the_gps/cjbm9q0
Sounds like at least 3 people there have it, one on Sprint, one on Verizon and I don't know about the other one. Hopefully someone on XDA has it too and could maybe help us figure out how to get it ourselves.
AT&T G3 here, no iZat that I have found, even looking around rooted.
I'm on Sprint and I have it, I would upload the build.prop for you guys but I believe I need root and Sprint doesn't have root yet.

Ah well hopefully a root will show up soon, although maybe it's inside your KDZ too, could you maybe go to http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=*********** and change the stars to your IMEI, and copy the sw_url path here so we could take a look into it?

I have the same lines in my build.prop, I think it means that iZat is disabled, but I'm not 100% sure, if you check the reddit post at http://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/2c3k3s/lg_g3_and_geocaching_how_is_the_gps/cjbm9q0 it says where you can find the setting for it.

Hmm well that's strange, normally it gives a link to the KDZ there, at least it does for me...
Luckily there's another way to check, I used your IMEI at http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/cs_auth_model_check.jsp?esn=************** and it gives a link to http://dl02.gdms.lge.com:5006/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=PS47109201/LS990ZV4_04.51101.zip, that files not found but googling the name brings up some uploads from other people, time to start digging, thanks for your help :good:
Edit: Looks like we might have already cracked it
Doing searches inside the system.img in that zip for the string "IZat" I found an apk which wasn't on my phone, namely /system/app/xtra_t_app.apk, decompiling this apk showed it as being "com.qualcomm.location.XT". Seeing nothing else related to iZat that my phone didn't already have I took the plunge and installed it, and when I went to Location -> Mode I was greeted with a nice "com.qualcomm.location.XT has had to close" error. Darn! At least the enhanced location section was there, but it had no text under it, just an off/on button.
Determined, I looked into what was happening using adb logcat and it seemed like it was looking for an xt_native library which my phone was missing. I found that at /system/vendor/lib/libxt_native.so in the Sprint image and copied it to my phone, went back to settings and to my surprise the iZat option showed up!
Enabling it brought up some standard privacy policy b/s, and after saying OK to that it seems like it's enabled! Not sure how to check if its working exactly, but seeing as it looked like just this apk and lib file was missing I think it's working
A download for the apk and .so file is at https://mega.co.nz/#!DoQzgSjA!k8OeUr6W6pfhszd-kddVtzXNd7d1voWQsqN-A0D_0J8
To install it you'll need root (although there might be a way to package the .so inside the apk and skip needing it, this is my first time messing with Android since 2010 or so though so I'm a bit rusty with stuff like that)
First mount your system as r/w, running this works for me:
Code:
mount -o rw,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system /system
Copy the libxt_native.so to your /system/vendor/lib/ folder
Run chmod 644 libxt_native.so to set the permissions properly
Install the apk
Restart, go to the location settings and enjoy
The permissions for the apk are pretty crazy and mention some in-call purchasing things, this isn't my doing though. In case you want to verify it you can download the LS990ZV4_04.51101.zip, extract the tot using LGBinExtractor (might need a small mod to support Sprint tots), open the system.img with Ext2explore and compare the hash of the apk I uploaded with the /app/xtra_t_app.apk inside it.
Major thanks to deadh0b0 for helping us find where it was!
Anyway, enjoy
Edit: also, obligatory disclaimer that I'm not responsible for anything that happens by doing this! This is literally just-found-out-about-5-minutes-ago work, so I haven't exactly tested it long, my (3UK D855) phone seems to be working fine though, so hopefully all should be good!
Edit2: I think there might be some more to this, not getting any XT debug messages in logcat besides the settings changes, hmm..
I don't even know how it works but I have it

Dear All,
Please note that LG D855 with V20i bumped image does not have by default the xtra_t_app.apk applied. However it has the related .so library. If xtra_t_app.apk is installed, the Enhanced Location Menu appears and it allows to turn it on/off.

Must be an error in zip, Ill fix that and Re-Upload it..
Update: Do to a problem with the Zip file, I had to Redo Zip. New one has been tested by me, And works.
Sorry for the inconvenience..
BTW: This kernel is worked on all the time, So new updates will be released alot. I already know of a few more things that I want to add.
My Goal is to make this Operate at low temps while keeping its performance as well at Longer Battery Life.
One of my test builds, The battery lasted me 3 days on a single charge. Without heavy usage.
My temps range betwen 87f /30c - and - 100f/37c (Stabilize around 97f/ 36c).

Keep it up! It will get easier over time and its nice to look back and see how you have become more adept at what you are doing.
Just some friendly advice:
1. Always give proper credit
2. Always make clean commits.
1. is just because we do this for fun and for some sort of recognition (Even if some Devs won't admit it) and 2. because it makes troubleshooting, and reverting WAYYYY easier. When I started, I learned this the hard way. This way if you get into a situation where you have to make reverts or reset the branch, you are able to be more surgical about what you remove. If you have a commit that has alot going on in it then sometimes you cannot revert cleanly and it will have to be done manually. This can sometimes leave you more prone to make simple mistakes. Ones that we ALL make when Dev'ing late at night after a day of hard work and should really be getting more sleep. lol
Oh and 3. Learn to use Meld properly. This will make merging so easy, and will save you a metric crap ton of time.
If you need anything, feel free to PM me.

Hello all,
I usually don't join forums and jump in to make one post pertaining to my issue but rather conduct extensive research to figure out my problem, so many apologies beforehand. However, this issue seems to be unique to me and I would to know if anyone can help me out!
After unlocking the bootloader yesterday, I rooted my Pixel XL using chainfire's systemless root method and I was ecstatic as ever! I followed the directions to the T to make sure I didn't make any mistakes, but using ADB program is familiar territory to me - everything went as expected and I successfully rooted my phone. However, I made the mistake of downloading apps that were not compatible with the systemless root, which I read could have some complications. This is where I was stumbling upon new ground, because I am not entirely familiar with "systemless root" and what the key differences are, nor what the repercussions would be for downloading apps that would look for root access in the /system partition. The two apps that I downloaded were "Magisk Manager" and "Game Guardian." On the Magisk Manager, the install data was downloaded to my phone, nothing was actually installed to the phone. As for Game Guardian, I don't think that app had compatibility with systemless root yet.
This issue where my UI would crash would persist, even after restarting my phone. I would boot the phone up to bootloader and recovery mode - just to cycle through and restart the phone regularly (since you can't wipe the cache partition), that didn't work. I tried deleting those apps and clearing their data from my phone, and that didn't work.
I made a revelation when I plugged the phone in and the persistent UI crashing stopped. I had thought that I fixed the issue, but then it continued throughout the day - up until before I posted this post. That was when I noticed that the crashing is tied with the battery status;
When I had low battery and my phone wasn't charging, my System UI would immediately crash.
When I had low battery and my phone was charging, my System UI would not crash.
When I have a decent charge (anything above what is "low battery" - 15%?), my System UI would not crash.
I did a little experiment when I was at low battery and I noticed that RIGHT BEFORE the System UI would crash, the battery icon would stay with the lightning bolt, instead of switching over to a red battery with low charge. I was unable to get a screenshot before it crashed, though. Provided, are screenshots of what my screen looked when the System UI would crash (minus the consistent pop-up) and when it was charging:

}
My concern right now, with my ignorance on systemless rooting and how incompatible apps could affect the phone, is that maybe the stock battery icon for when the phone is at a low charge is missing from the system file images and that is what might be causing the crashing.
Can anyone give any insight on the matter? I'll provide any information required, if need be!
Thank you in advance.

I have not experienced this problem. And some that have were using outdated ADB / SDK drivers.
One person fixed it by simply updating ADB and drivers then re-rooted and he was all set. I will try to find the link...

Thank you for that, Scott. I'll be following that main thread now.
At least it is indeed that it only happens when the battery level is low.

The current fix is to flash the stock boot.img or custom kernel and don't flash root. Im hopeful it will be fixed in next Supersu update.

Useless reply.
I read on their Gerrit that they are looking to make a flashable zip for root instead of in-built. Does anyone know WHY they are doing this?

Won't it be to make sure people that really don't know what they are doing, don't install apps that could mess up their phone?

It already has safety precautions. You are warned before you turn it on. It is off by default and you must tap your build number 7 times to enable developer options. So there is no way you could accidentally enable developer options that could mess something up.
It's because they want make rom compatible with net pay and other things.... The official builds will have a private key and it will be necessary wipe data to install....

As @quintas84 states below it is for compatibility reasons.
https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/154019
I understand that after flashing the (soon to be provided) superuser zip once, the superuser will survive OTA updates.

Could you elaborate on that last part? Wipe data to install?
According then to avoid problems we will have to do factory reset to install the first offícial build....
Because they will sign zip with a private key to ensure integrity of the zip

My opinion is this...
Root is there but, that may be referring to when you activate the Developer Options and selecting the Root access to the App and/or the ADB.
I do believe that is what it may be referring to but, I could be wrong...

I'm currently build nightlies for my phone and in developer options no more root for apps available only disabled or ADB root....
So many of the aps I run will probably no longer work, titanium BU, Nova launcher, Buildprop editor, caldav/carddav, dSQLlitemanager Tasker probably others.
How do you disable the Google crap, for things like contacts . . .
All we have is a vague, we will provide a rooting mechanism sometime, somehow and maybe at some cost!!!
Bye-Bye the ability to configure your device your way.

Easy to resolve. Just flash another superuser until the official LOS one comes out!
Except, if you read the announcement, they are locking the boot loader. which means that it will not be possible to install or run if the system is modified. So disabling a system app, eg. google contact sync, stops your phone from booting unless there is something that allows such mods. You will need their superuser in order to get past the system modification check at boot, third part SU apps will not be installable. (very poor explanation I know).
Locking the bootloader makes the system more acceptable/marketable as it will allow people to use the increasingly marketed pay/banking/wallet apps which insist on good security. These services are estimated to be worth Billions of dollars in fees to the service providers. Just think of the money applepay adds to Apples bottom line.
(rumor) - Another thing that some of these pay app service providers may begin to insist on is registration with a find/wipe/track my phone service. Everybody want to know where you go, who you talk to . . . particularly your government.
I personally think that using your cell phone as a super tap and go credit/debit card is a very dumb idea.
Quick question: will wiping data/locking the bootloader/etcetera be necessary for home builds? Since I have absolutely no plans to use any online banking apps or similar and have a highly customised system (I rely quite heavily on having root, but according to the other thread keeping that is as easy as setting WITH_SU=true), I'm very unhappy with these changes. I don't mind building LineageOS myself, but I want some reassurance that I won't hose my system by not wiping my data.
I can unlock bootloader in oficial Rom .... I don't believe that we can't unlock with third part rom ... If this is true we have always the option to build unofficial....

Locking the bootloader? I doubt if any ROM can lock it. Can you provide a link to where you are seeing this information?
Would be nice if they offered builds with root still an option for those who are not into mobile banking... But like it makes no sense, Banks don't require rootless desktops and there is no good reason to require a rootless phone.

Take a look at post #4 in this thread, and the mention of "boot loaded locked" .
How they achieve that I don't know but I suspect that if you know what you are doing then anything is possible. Maybe to install the new LineageOS ROMs you have to start by flashing a completely stock rom which would include everything that the manufacturer provided.
As I said I don't know, and your guess at how this is achieved is as good as mine.

They are just listing off items that break apps - the ROM and bootloader are completely different things. Lineage OS,as any custom ROM depends on a custom recovery - very difficult to install if your bootloader is locked.

I'm sorry it's from lineageos telegram group I don't know if it's official but I read this before they push changes to gerrit and github... Because of that I assume that if it's not official it's someone with great information source....
I hope root will be still available optionally in some builds...

wow thanks man! that was fast haha, will test ASAP
EDIT: after some testing, the rom is awesome, it is really really fast and battery it is very good too, just 1 question @murigny64, do i need to deny the access for location and contacts? or only location? or everything? besides that, this is amazing, really thanks

Deny all and test your apps. If you need to enable an authorisation, return to privacy guard and long touch google services to choose detailed access.
@murigny64 i see, anyways after deny all i have no problems so it can be done safe, i add some pictures here, magisk all good, performance really good (35k at 1920x1080 and 40k at 1280*720, it is some less than other roms there but i really prefeer lineageOS), Pogo and etc, incredible rom
i suggest to disable LiveDisplay tho, it affects a lot the performance
EDIT: and btw, the battery life is amazing, but interactive seems a little bugged, but anyways it is good
EDIT2: changed to userspace and all ****ing good, idk what is the problem with interactive tho lol
@murigny64
Awesome work, and I LOVE the ROM. I do have a couple questions though. First, can I just disable the privacy guard altogether, or do I need to enable then deny?
Secondly, I saw a post where you were mentioning lock screen issues here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/help/6045-try-to-fix-lockscreen-security-t3435892
I'm having the EXACT same issues. My phone was lollipop, and I've not reflashed any radios. It sounds from your post that you found a file to flash to correct the issue, but I don't know what to look for, or where to find it. Can you please link the files you flashed to fix it, or a link? If it helps, I have the 6045 from cricket.

1 - Battery drain is a Google Service issue, try to disable all privacy and only enable for google service
2 - It's a LL modem issue. You have to flash MM modem from your country
