I have a client who has a new Tab Pro 10.1 and he wants to know how to stream the screen of his tablet to his TV or PC at his office to use for a demonstration and use kind of as a remote whiteboard. He saw someone doing it at a meeting he went to last week, but did not ask how they were doing it. I have searched all around and it looks like he has to be rooted to do it, but it seems unreliable and I don't want to have to fix or set this thing up every time he uses it. I am sure he wont mind rooting his tablet if it means he will be able to stream his screen. I was hoping Chromecast would be able to do it easily, but it looks like that is not a feature yet and it can only be done fairly reliably through Chrome on a computer.
Has anyone done this yet? What do you recommend?
He has a:
Tab Pro 10.1 (stock)
Intel Nuc running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 connected to the TV
Chromecast
Vizio 70" TV
Thanks in advance!

That looks like a wired setup. I should have been clear that it needs to be wireless.
Thank you though!

There is an app preinstalled on the Tab - Sidesync 3.0. Need to install the app on the pc also. I haven't used it but I think it does what you want via wifi.
The tablet support screen mirroring (settings -> connections). Works fine on my sony bravia
You can use Chromecast but it will be slow for that. Instead use Miracast (What Brendo is using). There are many Miracast adapters if your TV doesn't have this capability.

The screen mirroring function will work with a Galaxy Tab pro 8.4 and a w605b Bravia TV?
Thank you!

It should. I have a bravia
On my S5 there is an option in the Chromecast app which allows casting. On my Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, there is no option. I have tested both my S5 and Tab Pro 8.4 with Chromecast. Individual apps, like Youtube and Netflix cast fine, but the Tab Pro won't give me the option to cast the tablet's screen. If you have a Samsung "Screen Mirroring" compatible smart TV it might work (I don't).
On a side note. . . Although I know your client wants wireless, my old Samsung HDMI adapter for my S3 works with both my S5 and Tab Pro 8.4. The Samsung WI-FI All-Share Cast Hub, Wireless HDMI Display Adapter (can't remember the name) might work if you have that plugged into the video source. I didn't purchase it, so I can't test it.
I just recently bought a Chromecast and Tab Pro 8.4. I've been experimenting the last few days.
Basically, casting to Chromecast is going to be limited to apps with built-in Chromecast support. The only way I was able to do screen mirroring was through my WDTV Live set top box. Like Weo said above, you will need a TV with screen mirroring capability. My friend has a Samsung smart tv that he uses screen mirroring all the time.
Here's a nicely put together FAQ about Chromecast: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563143
I think the only way to do screen mirroring to Chromecast is to root your device and install a hack: http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193

is there a way to connect to a tv not wirelessly? like using usb?
Nexus Q and HTC Media link should work. I am not sure if they are exact mirrors like the dongle but it should be.
Nexus Q can't do screen mirroring. The HTC Medialink isn't compatible with the Galaxy S3 due to proprietary software.
You're stuck with the $99 allshare cast dongle. I'd wait though since a lot of screen mirroring solutions are going to be made available and most likely cheap by the end of 2012. The WiFi Alliance is working on something called Miracast which is essentially android screen mirroring.

Apparently someone said the HTC media link works with the GS3. There was a thread on it.
You could buy a Samsung DVD or bluray player that has the allshare capability.

..different things, all share DLNA ( share movies from PC, phone to TV ) is different to All share cast ( where the phone is replicated on TV )
Need this!
So Im a school teacher and bought a GSIII for this accessory. Why isnt it available and does anyone know when it will be available? Im trying to do research now to see if I can get the HTC one to work with my GSIII, also I have a Nexus7 I would like to figure out how to make that work as well.
due to the overpricing of this thing (it'll be about 110 USD in sweden) I decided to pre-order an Ouya instead as it basically gives me the features I wanted an allshare dongle for but at the same price. But for those $100 I get a standalone tegra 3 device instead, basically a htc one x without a screen. It wont be out until march but the money value here is worth the wait.
Hello, anyone know if it´s possible to emulate the allshare cast dongle with a PC ??
i mean, that piece of hardware must use some software that can be inatalles as a program in a notebook and then the notebook connected to the TV.
Could this be done?
PD: chrome cast doesn´t mirror the games for example and samsung dongle yes

With all the new apps and wireless technologies out there now, is there a way to get the same cast functionality going through an XBOX connected TV with your phone?
I have a Samsung Note 3 and XBOX 360 and want to mirror my phones screen and control some apps like you can with the Chromecast, mainly a web browser on the XBOX.
Thank you for any help!!

I installed Mirror OP sender and Mirror Op receiver on my notebook and cell phone and then connected the notebook with HDMI to my TV. I have mirror now, but it has too much lag.
If someone make some retroengineering on an all share cast dongle i think we can emulate it, the notebook or pc connected to the tv has to have enough power to copy the software functions of that dongle!! . Soemone must know more about this.

I would be surprised if not nearly any laptop out there got more power than the small dongle device?
In addition I think the lag (most recognizable in games) might come from the wireless transmission maybe?

I connected my S3 to our TV and it had a bit of a lag as well. I've only used this to view videos and pics but they don't take up the whole TV screen, kinda defeating the purpose or am I missing something?

I asked the Samsung chat support for this youtube video : watch?v=FX3y7O_TOew
they told me that feature was only available for rooted concept devices, so... we can see that they do the same as Chrome Cast dongle but without buying any dongle. ...
this so called "WEB PAGE SHARE" function doesnt appear on new note 2, s4, s3 or note 3, maybe someone can make a rom or something to make this work ??? its also showed in this video:

Anyone tried them both?

I'd like to use a tablet to display Power Point on a projector. I was thinking of using a Note 10.1 (2014) with a Chromecast installed in the HDMI port of the projector. Has anyone tried this? Did it work well?
Also, when displaying the presentation, can you write on the slides, such as circling or underlining certain words?
Thanks!

I haven't used the Chromecast for this (although with the latest app update, Android screen mirroring should be supported from the Note 2014E), although I have used Samsung's Allshare Cast Hub and Netgear's Push2TV to accomplish this. It works fairly well, provided the devices aren't set up on a network with high traffic.
Slideshow annotation will depend on the app you use to display it, but Hancom and Polaris should both support it.

I teach everyday using projectors. When the battery is low, I use the hdmi output with a cable, so that the device can charge during the lecture. When it's high, I use Netgear's PTV3000 so that I can walk around the students, and stream through wifi.
I have a chromecast at home too, but it works only with selected apps (Netflix and Youtube), and does not work that well: it disappears frequently from the network.
Some people managed to mirror their screens with chromecast, but it was through hacks. Only very recently I heard of it as an official feature, which does not show in my chromecast yet.
In short, if you are out to buy your gear, I'd suggest you to take the PTV3000, because I can confirm to you that it will work well, no matter how you will use it. Chromecast is cheaper, but might crash in the middle of your lecture. It's ok for home use, but for professional use, I'm not that confident.

Do the projectors you connect to have HDMI in, or are you using some king of digital to analogue converter? I also use my 2012 GNote to lecture, but the Allshare cast dongle stopped working with my VGA input only legacy data projectors. I assume this is because Samsung introduced HDCP to the dongle with a firmware update. If the PTV3000 works with ordinary D/A converters then I will get one of these. As it stands I had to purchase a "special" D/A converter that removes the HDCP handshake.
I use the HDMI connection. Have not tried it using a digital converter.
I use Tronsmart T1000 miracast device (it was around 30 EUR delivered) and it works just fine mirroring screen of my Note.
I also have HDMI2VGA adaptor box for the times when I can't connect to HDMI, it works fine and doesn't need any additional power.
Hello, so I've just bought the 10"5 Tab S and I can't enable screen mirroring.
My TV is a Sony KDL-40R470B, I can enable the screen mirroring just fine with Galaxy Note 3, but not the Tab S.
Any idea how I could solve this ?
And, this spanking new Tab S 10.5 doesn't even support Chromecast Screen Mirroring either! Come-on Samsung!!!
I was only successful wireless screen mirroring to an old Samsung miracast device. So, other than using an HDMI adapter tethered, it seems the initial firmware out of the box on the Tab S is ancient technology compared to the Note Tabs and Galaxy phones which can screen mirror to Chromecast.
I would think Chromecast screen mirroring problem would lie with Google and the Chromecast app not Samsung.
If you are rooted you can use the below app to enable it.

Just more android fragmentation garbage apparently.
I found this article a good read though, but it just leaves an Android user in the blind about what supported features will be available.
http://allaboutchromecast.com/chrom...-about-wireless-display-and-screen-mirroring/
Thing is, I'm not using chromecast, I have a smart TV and just enable mirroring with Wi-Fi, I didn't plug anything on the TV.
Works flawlessly with the note 3, but can't enable it on the tab S.
Would that app be worth trying in my case ?
Fixed?

So after 20 minutes of this I sorted it out. I had a private internet access app running so that all my traffic is encrypted and routed overseas. It just sets up a VPN, so I think if you have a VPN running then it won't work. That was my problem, hopefully this helps you.
Hello frineds,
First of all, please forgive me for my imperfect English (It's not my mother-tongue).
I was looking for information on the web, but have not received answers to some questions and I would like to get some of your help, please:
I have a Samsung Tab 3 10.1" (model 5210) tablet and a Sharp TV (not a smartTV) with USB and HDMI inputs.
I would like to watch movies I downloaded to my tablet - on the TV screen and looking for a good way to do it (preferably wireless). I need a way to mirror my tablet on TV, to be specific.
1. Is there any possibility at all? If so:
2. Does ChromeCast doing the work? (Again, we're discussing about downloaded video files from the web, not watching YouTube and similar)
3. If ChromeCast can't do it, is there a wireless device that does this? I heard about "EZcast", what do you think about it? I'd be happy to have your recommendation.
4. If there's no wireless option -what kind of cable will I have to connect the the TV?
5. Other things that I should know? (Video-Audio sync... etc)
Thanks in advance,
PT
I know the Tab 3 8.0" has a screen mirroring function included, but perhaps the P5210 does not.
What version of Android are you running? Is it the stock 4.2 Jelly Bean? I've read that Mircast needs 4.4 and up, and Chromecast needs 4.4.2 and up. Also, I'm unsure if AllShare Cast/Samsung Link is an option for you...
Have you tried the Galaxy HDMI adapter from Samsung's website? Item ET-H10FAUWEGUJ
I have a chromecast and use an app called localcast to play my downloaded videos to my tv. Works really good, pause, play and volume control from device. Though it is not true screen mirroring as the video does not play simultaneously on tablet and tv, it just sends the video to the tv. Hope this helps.
Hey guys.
I have an hdmi port in my car which hooks up to my oem display. I also have power next to the port so I can power any 12v device.
I used to use a chrome cast with my HTC M8 but that required a screen casting quick setting as casting through the app was not possible when using mobile Hotspot. The whole setup was also very taxing on the phone, and the chrome cast and mobile Hotspot didn't work well together quite often.
So now with the Note 7, what would be my best option for an hdmi dongle that supports direct screen casting? Should I get a miracast device such as a roku stick? I really don't need any more functionality aside from the screen mirroring feature.
Thanks!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009...share+cast&dpPl=1&dpID=41dodRzT2IL&ref=plSrch
it's a bit old, but is made specifically for Samsung devices and relies on Wi-Fi-direct(no tethering, and no existing network required)
it works using the same system as their smart TV's and is confirmed to still work with the S7 edge, so the note 7 shouldn't have a problem either.
Damn, yeah it is a bit older. Also quite expensive compared to CC or rokustick. I do like that it's wifi-direct though. And there's a quick toggle for that on our phones too.
