[Q] New to HTC : NEED HELP - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all
Today i changed my atrix 4g with Htc desire hd.I need some informations about it:
Software:
Android 4.0.4 Sabsa Prime v11.0
Htc Sdk Api Level 4.24
Kernel version 3.0.55 Beast Mode v1.5
Recovery:
Ace Hack Kit CWM 5.0.2.7
Bootloader:
AAHK
Ace Pvt eng s-off rl
h-boot 0.85.2425
e-mmc boot
What i need to do in the case that i want android 4.4.2?
I need to do something else than putting zip file on card and flash it?
How about the kernel?
i read something about fastboot boot.img

just putting zip file in sd card, full wipe and flash it as normal.
your phone is s-off so no need to flash boot.img

Thank you

i am s-off..but i have to download the cm7 version of the rom or not before flashing the img?
go to alpharev.nl and download the hboot file you need (remember to check md5)
then 2 methods: either put PB99IMG(something like that) file on root of sdcard and boot phone into bootloader, it will find the file and ask you to confirm it
or flash .img file through fastboot
then flash ROM designed to run on diffrent hboot
just downloaded the rom then used android flasher it went smooth...

hi
I tried to root a HTC Desire HD device
1. Unlocked via HTCdev
2. Installed custom recovery - clockworkmod 5.8.1.5
3. Tried to flash miui 6.1
now the device is stuck on boot ( htc logo)
I tried all the RUU files i could get, nothing works, error 191, 140,155
I created a gold card.
When i insert the empty gold card and reboot the phone, it remains stuck on SD checking
Loading PD98DIAG.zip
any ideas
i managed to get the goldcard working.
Still can't flash, some message about version is older.
Tried different roms.
The RUU exe still throws 191 error.
any ideas
Have you tried running the RUU when the device is in fastboot mode? That worked for me once when I thought I'd bricked it.
tried that.
error 191.
i need something newer that 3.13.0.0 i think
I'm starting to sound like a broken record. If you used the HTC unlock method you have to flash your boot img separately.
After flashing room boot into boot loader select fast boot and flash your roms boot.img

Lol.... maybe you ought to keep a copy paste of the answer handy so you don't need to type the same thing over and over again
Sent from a dream.
found the solution.
reboot to fastboot.
unzip the PD98IMG.zip copy the boot.img and system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot
after the phone reboots stock 2.3.5 will be on, 3.12.405.1.
Managed to gain root with some zip installed with clockworkmod.
Now i can't find a solution to s-off.

noxaro, if you wanted to gain S-OFF and root, you should have run the Hack Kit...HTCDEV is not a good idea....maybe a little more research would have leaded you here:

It won't work if u are running GB and downgrade to Froyo...That will mess your bootloader...just don't downgrade to froyo by any means!! Hack Kit works for all builds and version, just have to downgrade first in some cases...

That doesn't sound like works on all builds and versions.
It does not work on the mentioned version 3.12.405.1
I have the same situation. But within a couple of months my phone contract will end and I will extend this with a new phone. At that moment I will try to install some custom ROMS on my Desire HD. So first downgrade to 2.50.405.2, get root and S-Off (which I by the way already have (Ship S-off to be precise))
And than install ClockWorkMod and install custom rom.
I tried to install CWM from fastboot but did not manage to successfully complete this. I think because I have Ship S-Off and not ENG S-Off.

AAHK has supported 3.12.40.5.1 since version AAHK 10122011, It does not and will not support HTC dev unlocked devices. Although version 3.12.40.5.1 does need downgrading, this step is carried out by AAHK. AAHK is by far the safest and easiest method of obtaining root IMHO.

umm...it seems that u need to give a look at the manual again. All builds 3.x are not directly rootable, so you need to downgrade. The Hack Kit prompts you about that, and do it in case you are willing to.
Just one tip, if you install ENG S-OFF you will mess your bootloader...so, I would check the manual and the hack kit thread just see what you not supposed to do..

Yes it does, but a downgrade is needed first. The hack kit automates it all as much as possible, even the initial downgrade.
The bootloader MUST be relocked and the the ROM stock.

Just relock the bootloader with a stock rom/recovery installed and the hack kit will work fine.
Many thanks for this !!! I have tried this and it works very well

Hello,
I tried to flash MoKee Rom yesterday, I downloaded the file from their website but on the screen it told me that there was an error because the rom wasn't for my Desire HD. Tried downloading twice and flash it again and same error appears. So I tried to install Cyanogenmod 11. Everything seems to be ok but when I reboot the phone it doesen't move from the white screen with HTC written on it. What can I do? I did everythime all the wipes needed (cache, dalvick, system). I've unlocked the bootloader with Windroid Tool and installed TWRP recovery with it.
I can get into fastboot and recovery mode. When I get into fastboot I have the following details:

HBOOT-2.00.0029
MICROP-0438

[Q] Hboot error, Stock rom fine, but no others

Hello, Noobe here. I have read this forum for two months on my problem, but I guess I just don't get it. Lots of have similar issues, but I just can not figure how to put them together in my case.
Problem: HBOOT bootloader error
Goal: To install Custom ROM
Executive Summary:
1. Tried to use AHTK to root, Failed
2. Rooted with success with other toolkit (forget which one)
3. Removed HTC Bloatware, happy
4. Tried to install custom Rom (with CWM Touch installed), no problems, reboot, HTC White screen of Death
5. Recover backup, works fine
6. Notes problem with Hboot (which might be blocking any new ROM)
7. Ask Nice people to help Noobe.
Background Info:
HTC DESIRE HD (UK version)
***UNLOCKED***
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL

MICROP-0438

Actual Problem
The Hboot tries to
((From My memory (it is really fast on the screen))
"Check the SD
Searching for PD98DIAG.zip
No image Found!!
Searching for PD98DIAG.nhh
No Image Found!!
Searching for Pxxxx.zip
Wrong Image!!"
......"
I am pretty sure this is the leftover script from the AHTK failure to update the radio and S-OFF
This is does not effect the normal booting of the stock Rom
Questions:
1. How do I reset the HBOOT to remove this script? (if needed)
2. Is this the reason I get the white screen of death?
3. Once fixed, can I just use CWM to install a new rom(using one of the many guides on this site)
or do think I need to S-OFF/update the Radio as well?
Thank You so much for all your help.
Brussels, Belgium
1. AAHK is retired, and the server hosting the the files it downloads is pulled, so of course it won't work.
2. You unlocked the bootloader, so you need to fastboot flash each ROM's boot.img each time you flash a ROM. Otherwise you get the HTC screen infinitely.
3. Delete the zip file in the root of your SD card. It's not a script. It has nothing to do with the boot problem.
4. You don't need to update your radio, but each time you flash a ROM you need to flash from recovery, then fastboot flash boot boot.img from your computer. Instructions are in the PDF in post #7 in the thread linked in my signature.

[Q] Is it possible to S-OFF a device which can only boot to recovery/bootloader?

Hi, i have a HTC Desire HD that can only boot to bootloader and recovery (CWM), when booting to system it stucks on the green htc logo with white background, and i can't use it.
I also tried with placing PD98IMG.zip in the sdcard root, the bootloader flashes it but the system still remains unbootable.
I was wondering if i can put it in S-OFF mode so that i can install a custom rom so that i can at least boot to the system and use the phone.
Is there a way to S-OFF my desire hd with recovery or bootloader=
Thanks in advance
What have you done to it to get it in that state? What does the bootloader say: is it locked or unlocked?

If you have unlocked bootloader you don't need S-OFF to flash Custom Roms..Just download .zip ROM, place it on sd card and in cwm chose "install zip from sd card" ... After that you must flash boot.img..Here is tutorial for everything I say: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168500

Hi, thanks for your answer!
Unfortunately i got the phone in that state, i didn't pay it, a friend gave it to me because it doesn't boot and warranty is out of date.
I would like to "restore" it, the bootloader is unlocked, this is what i see:

The Ace unlock given by HTC is a partial unlock. It sounds like your other phone was a full unlock. And yes, flash the boot.img.

[Q] Trying & Failing to root HTC Desire HD! Please Help

Hi Everybody
I found this guide to root the HTC Desire HD.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221039

I have rom version: 3.12.405.1
any ideas why i cant get past err191 ?
You've already got the updated hboot hence why its says 2.xxx.029 and also says locked. The word locked should have been abvious if you read that guide...
Ok so now you need to unlock your boot loader. You need to goto htcdev and follow the steps for getting unlock token then follow the steps that will be sent to the email address you signed up with.
Next flash custom recovery, I recommend only 4ext.
Then either flash super user zip found somewhere on xda (search)
Or flash custom rom in 4ext then flash boot.img found inside custom rom zip file.
Instructions for those steps are here on dhd forums just go find them.

Tried HTC Bootloader but that didnt' work so tried the AAHK2 and after a downgrade it rooted it.
Now I assume that if I want ICS on the DHD I simply download the ROM and slap it on the SDCard the hboot to install it?

Well putting the ROM file on the SD card is correct but you'll need a custom recovery to install it.
