Hi,
I have bought the new tab 8.4. The screen size is good and the multi-windows feature is amazing. However, there is a huge battery drain, even if the device is in "sleep" or "power saving" moods. The cause of that is always "android system"! In my nexus 7 (2013) tab, I have never faced this problem, so I think it is the "Samsung bloatware"
My question is: Is there way to reduce this thing?
Through rooting and using Greenify, or similar; can this issue be solved?
please give me some suggestions for this (other that selling the device of course!)
Thanks
I have same battery issues but it seems something quite ramdon as not always it's happening at least to me

I have great battery life on mine, especially in standby. Try a factory reset. I did this when I first got my tablet and updated it.

Be sure to turn off WiFi when sleep. Unless plugged in.

Basically what the title says?
I've burned 10 percent every 30 minutes when using tapatalk straight? Does it burn more battery than a web Os or another mobile site?
Thanks in advance
Its a pretty light application. The battery drain comes from your screen being on and phone actively pulling data.

So would you say that mobile web kills more battery than tapatalk?

Maybe slightly because its doing full page loads and tapatalk is just loading some background data to the same view. Its gonna probably be about the same though. Like I said, its not the app you're using, it's the fact that the screen on and its using data that drains the most battery.
tapatalk is a battery saver app. when i used browser, the baterry was dropping very fast. tapatalk use less energy than browser
If you're using any app that uses the radio and you have a weak signal, your battery will drain fast. Try to find a sweet spot where reception is good and your battery will last longer. And lowering screen brightness helps, as mentioned.
Tapatalk was the reason for drain for me about a week ago.
I had my phone on charge overnight. Pulled it out and went to work and about 30 minutes later it was at 94% and I had done nothing. Turned out Tapatalk drained my battery for whatever reason. It has only done that once though so I don't know what happened. Has not done it again since. Usually Tapatalk takes like 2% of my battery for my use.
You checked "Yes this is a question"
That means it goes in Q&A

Tapatalk is a battery drainer in my case, too (SGS2). What's more problematic, once you've launch Tapatalk and use it to visit a forum, only killing it with a task manager would stop it from consuming memory. For whatever reason, Tapatalk is constantly consuming CPU cycles, even when it's in background. The developers are aware of this issue, but so far no fix.
take off tapatalk notifications and enable the dark theme.

It would still keep running in background and continue consume battery unless I shoot its process.

I have noticed lately that the battery of my Galaxy Note 8 WiFi have become worse day by day. Today I started using it after charging to 100%, after 12 minutes and 27 second I am at 27% battery. Here something have to be very wrong. I am using original firmware 4.1.2.
Anyone have experienced the same using the Note 8.0?
I installed the Nexus 5 launcher and the supporting files, then I started noticing by battery usage went way up with Google Services hitting the top of the list. Had the same issue on the Note 3.
The sad thing is that the only was to clean this up was a reset, now my battery is back to normal on both devices.

Location reporting in google now kills the battery very fast.
disabling that in google's settings app fixes it, however if you are a google now user then that my not be an ideal solution.
Hello guys.
What are your experiences with battery saver apps and moto g?
I'm having some results with Snapdragon Battery Guru and Dimmer to reduce screen brightness. I'm not rooted yet.
I've read about Greenify and certainly gonna try it when get rooted.
Would you share what you have found about saving battery?
What would you suggest?
Any ROM in special? Apps? Tips? Prayers?
Does the JB stock rom , with Motorola and Google system apps. drains too much my power?
I'm sure it does more than a custom ROM , but could you tell about this difference? How much more juice would you it save in comparison?
I use low screen brightness, no sync at all, no battery killers like Facebook, but still feel like I could have more battery time from my moto g.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, thanks for the advice, I'm trying it but it requires manual force stop to every app... This is annoying, but at least works and help speeding up the close of several apps

I'm also curious of battery stats with people who have Greenify (rooted) on their Moto G.
Anyone to share some useful opinion?
Enviado de meu XT1033 usando Tapatalk
I use greenify (rooted). I use my moto all day normaly: some calls, 3g on (ever), some pictures, tuneIn (about 45 min.), IM+ on (with Facebook, gtalk, skype signed in), play some chess of sudoku, Surf in the web by Dolphin Browser.
I freezed a lot of apps with Titanium Backup (Motorolas apps). In the night, I have 40%

I have 41% battery left and it says 2 days, 2 hours, 34 minutes on battery.
Screen is listed at the top as usual with 44% and says Time On - 5hours 40minutes
I don't use any batter saving app or even the Motorola one because I am using the GPE ROM now.

Read what i said though, it might also be due to me flashing the ROM's and the new ROM not reading the battery correctly the first time or two.
** Don't be so eager to jump to GPE because of my post **

Because I'm near sure it was only me connecting it to the pc a couple of times, i guess i could of been wrong.
Does the graph in the battery menu, show when the battery is charged again ?
I'm back on the UK kitkat ROM, so i will see how i get on once i run the battery fully down, then fully charge, and make sure not to connect it to the pc.

Yup, I connected it to the PC to transfer some big files and it charged up to 10%
Hello guys. Im using kit kat stock with greenify no rooted, and my battery last more than when i had jelly bean stock ROM.
Im using any other APP, i tried snapdragon battery saver but it did nothin, actually i noticed it was draining it faster.
Try Greenfy even if your are not rooted, it is awesome.

The battery is epic on this phone. Why do you need to improve it? It lasts way longer than a whole day. What more do you need?
On Moto G XT1033
My moto g takes 3 to 3.30 hours for charging 20 % to 100%.
Is it normal ?
I am charging with Indian charger comes with box.

The battery on this guy is sure epic. Standby time is really incredible for a smartphone. I usually last 18 hours light-moderate usage and about 12 hours of heavy usage. Note that I only use 2G since Wi-Fi is available on my home and school.

Yep. Normal, as the charger is 500 mah, use 1A or 2A charger to charge quickly

Same here, it's been happening on almost every rom I use even when I enable thermal throttling
Stock. It's only rooted so I can have ad away. There isn't even a custom recovery.

im having the same issues with the stock rom. I am not a huge fan of it and am considering going back to 4.1. I have reset my phone completely twice now and have tried the gservices fix as well. I really like the stock rom and don't see any big difference in the stock rom from 4.1 to 4.4
There a couple differences, but not really worth the wait. We had to go through. I wish they would've added more features to stock kit kat. But it ok.
Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
If the overheating occurs with mobile data enabled it's totally normal.
Sent from my LG-G Pro using Tapatalk
To help reduce heat, what i usually do is change the cpu governor to interactive, and underclock both the cpu and gpu, especially if im not doing resource intensive tasks like gaming. I use trickstermod to toggle settings, and i make sure "mpdecision" and "soc temprature toggle" are both activated. Also i check lg hidden settings and make sure "thermal daemon mitigation off" setting remains off. Lastly i decrease the screen brightness as well.

Check you battery stats for any process/app using excessive battery.
I noticed a slight overheating issue running CyanogenMod11 until flashing madmacks modem. That was to fix a deep sleep issue to improve battery while a corollary of that fix seemed to be much less overheating.
Underclocking and adjusting governer settings through trickster, as mentioned above, also mitigated any overheating issue.
Just out of curiosity, when overheating is mentioned about what temp are we talking about?

Yeah same here i tot to att v20g 4.4.2 .
last night when i do wireless charging its really hot even its already charged to full still not cool down. Never had that issue with other rom.

This is the problem with stock 4.4, i've confirmed it, Optimus G F180, G Pro F240 and GK F220 all are going hot, while surfing the web specially with 3G on, however it was not a problem in the stock 4.1.2. thanks,
Hi,
I have a great problem,
since rooting device, the battery drains very fast, including when terminal is OFF !
about 20% day when is swithched off

What can I do?
Im using stock rom, only root device

I also had battery issues but not that important. I started using the app: DU Battery Saver to kill background apps.
I also flashed the tablet and I can say now that the battery life has improved considerably.
You might need to check which apps/processes are draining your battery using General - Battery option..
