Hi Guys,
the batterylife of my play is .. how i call it "serious"
Today at 2am as i going to bed, my play hat 3% Battery.
As i wake up 5 hours later it has 3% again.
Is the battery defect or what is this? =D
Thanks
Your battery's fine. My battery % often goes "up" overnight. I'm on JokaWild Rom + Doomkernel v13 3013 which does have a very good battery life, but not infinite
Maybe the indicator takes a while to catch up coming out of deep sleep or something.
The battery indicator predicts life under current use takes about 15 to 20mins to adjust again

My battery drains a lot on ICS
my battery is awesome too, and im on stock kernel/rom. I tried not to play anything, just calls and texts; it lasted like 4 days. Until last night, it was more than 2 days and a half when i had to charge it, as i played >2 hours of dungeon hunter 2. its amazing
If you flash between ROMs it's worth recalibrating the battery, if not you can get the "increase" in battery life.
More info and how to calibrate with an app here: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...asy-way-with-battery-calibration-for-android/
Im gonna buy 3600mah battery. I will use my play with awesome battery and jokawild + doomlord v13. Its gonna be legen... Wait for it: Dary! Legendary!
Battery life on ics sucks. I really hope our official update will have battery life similar to gingerbread
It all also depends on how you use your phone. I can make mine last from 6:45am to up to 3am. (I have kind of a fixed schedule, don't judge me lol)
• I have the brightness at 50% or so at all times, I can't see the screen if it's too dim.
• When not checking Facebook or playing Draw Something, anything data related, turn data and wifi off in the wireless and network settings. Don't do airplane mode because you might want to call or text, for MMS Messaging, 3/4G will turn on and back off when the message is sent or received. My 3G Signal is decent, when I'm at home, I have Wifi on unless my connection craps out, unless I'm playing Xbox, since I tether while plugged to AC power, XBL performs better on my 3G Plan apparently...
• Keep phone on silent with vibrate on at all times.
It may vary between third party batteries, roms and kernels.
I'm using a locked R800x with DarkForest 3.0.5.
how is the battery on stock ICS for HTC ONE X?
because I have venom that is a very nice rom but the battery life is kinda ...SUCKS.. my phone goes 10% in 5 mins.

Well firstly a thread like this, no offense, is pointless.. it often leads to debase about roms which if seen by a developer can be disturbing.
Also we probably need more information. What do you do with your phone when this drain occurs?
What do you have switched on WiFi or how bright is the screen?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
my brightness is very low 30%, yes and I m kinda always connected to WIFI and to a 3g network because i have an unlimited data plan, but for example sometimes I use 2G to reduce the battery consumption but it's pointness...
so is like this for example the battery is 100% percent(with ONLY WIFI on, data disabled.no games, only 3 mins of fb+whatsapp)....and after 3 mins the battery from 100% goes to 95%........if I'm browsing with 3g is even worse...92%...it drops some percents instantly...so do battery drain during " idle " IS OK(perfect) but the battery drain whle using the phone is very bad.. that why I asked that question..
with Android Revolution ICS the battery was good..but the rom underperfrom. in games there was some " low fps/ blocking"
Running 4.2.2 I get 9h of standby and 1h screen on at the most on a HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus using a OEM 2000mAh extended battery.
I checked wakelocks and there was nothing out of the ordinary. Anyone else getting this bad battery life?
A phone that dies half through the day with light usage is pretty much useless. (I've had to use the 1750, 2000 and the 3800 battery to come through the day.)
Depends if you have any apps syncing a lot or using the radios a lot.
Signal strength plays a big role in battery life as well.

Only Gmail/whatsapp sync a bit, the rest is all turned of/ wifi only. Used gps maybe 20min for google maps ans public transport.
Signal strenght was mostly good with the occasional no signal, 10 min total.
Still, it shouldn't be this bad.

dude mine is like that and i have no idea why. i have a brand new extended 2100maH battery, underclocked, undervolted, no sync, no bluetooth or gps, with alot of apps that i feel drain power (maps, LWP, etc.) uninstalled. most i get throughout the day is a good 8 hours with 2 hours of on screen. i text but not that much. idk. weird **** yo

btw im using sprints galaxy nexus running the unofficial xylon, with ak diamond19 kernel, with lte off, and pie controls.
Same here. I'll charge my phone to 100% set it down pick it up 15 minutes later 8-11% battery gone. No GPS, screen turned down, underclocked. I don't get it. I have a Toro also.. Just have to make due I guess till I figure it out.

I just started using a Nexus this week. I came from a RAZR M. The first thing I noticed was the lack of battery life. I found a couple tweaks to help with this issue.
They are: disable network time and date sync, 3g only till you really need to charge through some web browsing, undervolt to 1GHz, and minimal to 383 or so. I flashed the Franco kernel and use the Wheatley governor. Auto brightness was on auto. I also have the 2100mah battery.
I can almost reach 3 hours screen time per charge. I didn't realize that's a feat so I haven't taken a screenshot. My M got around 5 hours screen time. Ugh.. But the Gnex has won me over.

Something is definitely wrong bro... I have the same gsm model with the stock battery. With light usage I can easily go about 36 hours off the charger with 3 hours screen time. Sync with Gapps, Facebook, Keep, Drop box, Google +
Something is Jacked up somewhere...

Use trickster mod to see if your device is deep sleeping. I've had deep sleep issues on 4.2.2
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
And if you undervolt too much it will actually destroy your battery life
Toro | Xylon | Diamond
My device is deep sleeping fine, it is really a 3G/data issue. On wifi I can get 4h screen on and days of standby, no problem. But on mobile data my battery just evaporates in thin air.
I think the real problem is the 3G radio power management, that was excellent on 4.0 or 4.1 (never had issues) but on 4.2 it is outrageous.
The thing is, on wifi (home/work/...) I have the possibility to charge my phone. If I'm on HSPA+, I haven't.
My stats on wifi at the moment: 2h standby, 35min screen on 89% left.
Select 2G only if you do not really need 3G or LTE for phone and data! For simple phone calls or texting, the quality is not much different between 2G, 3G or LTE. In fact, in my city, there is more 2G than 3G and LTE transmissions.
It will at lease save you 30% battery.
I can put my phone on 2G only, but than I can't search something when I'm on a call, get delayed sms (really noticable). Not mentioning 2G is a pain in the ass, even for IM and email.
And constantly switching between 2G and 3G is also not a good option for battery life. Turning LTE off on a maguro won't do anything.
It doesn't matter how many features you turn off, battery life will not improve. Your phone will become a dumbphone and it will still die on you. I recommend to stop turning on the screen constantly and use it lightly. The screen used on this device is not efficient at all. I hope the next Nexus greatly improves on battery life or I'm switching to something else.

Android OS is high, BBS will tell you what it is, it's usually a kernel wakelock. Also if you don't use Maps, disable it, because since they brought the offline prefetching, it starts services like mad and runs in BG. Android AOSP has it's own location services and MapView, so you won't loose that.
My phone has become almost unusable after receiving the 4.2.2 update (on Verizon, totally stock phone). Battery has gotten as hot as 113F at times, and I can watch it decrease 1% at a time very quickly...
BBS keeps pointing to Exchange. I removed the account the first day and added it back in and that seemed to have helped initially but now is no longer the case. I haven't wiped the phone in over a year plus so this is my next step.
Is there any way to see what apps were recently updated?
Same battery problems for me (maguro). Not long ago I could use the phone for around 48 hours without charging, and suddenly one day to another it all changed and is drained within 9 - 10 hours. I have tried everything:
- monitoring with betterbatterystats (nothing out of the ordinary),
- tried different roms (including stock 4.0, 4.1),
- tried monitoring with betterbatterystats without any apps installed (disbled google apps to prevent syncing), without wifi / 3g / location services / NFC etcetera, even without sim card. --> No big battery draining wakelocks.
- tried different kernels
- tried new battery
- checked if phone was going into deep sleep (did that fine)
All without any impact, the battery life is still very bad (easily draining 5+ % per hour, if it is on standby all the time).
I'm starting to think it might be a hardware problem, I don't know what to do anymore without sending it back for warranty.
3 initial things I always look for when diagnosing somebody's battery woes:
1) Have you loaded (adb then fastboot) the totally stock nexus images from Google's website? At least for 3 days and no additional apps installed
2) How old and what is the usage of your OEM battery? If you're using a 3rd party battery who knows what will happen
3) What's your signal strength like in your daily travels? Bad signal will eat your battery almost as much as screen time
If you still have bad battery after thinking about those 3 questions then you have a unique situation. Otherwise, your problem might be simpler than it seems
IMO, turning off gps/wifi etc doesn't really help with battery life, at most 1-2%. Usually what causes battery to drain faster is when apps prevent the phone from sleeping, or if they're constantly running in the background.
Hi
I was just wondering if the notification lights on the Note 2 use up much battery, and do they account for the "audio_out" wakelock? I get a lot of whatsapp messages and other notifications which cause the light to more or less always be on. Is this a known issue?
If so, is there an app which will perhaps set a time limit before the lights turn off, so they're not just mindlessly blinking while I'm away from the phone for hours on end?
Thanks for any help.
I don't think that it uses alot of battery , audio out wakelock is usually caused by viber eventhough you can try led notifier or light flow to control your led notifications.

Thanks for the reply
I don't have viper or know what it is, but just concerned that it has a negative effect on the battery when the LED's are basically always on.
I have eliminated every high wakelock I could find, and everything seems ok. The only prob is android system and android os being around 11% each. On my EVO 3D which is sitting next to my Note 2, the android os and system is not even visable, and there is a long dead straight line for the battery usage with screen off where the note 2 is going downwards slowly at idle.
Pretty annoying tbh as it would appear jellybean drains where ICS would barely even go down 1% in several hours.
Hi, your LED doesn't consume much battery. The reception of your whatsapp messages (over 3G) + vibrating your phone is what's eating up your battery Especially if your receive tons of them! haha.
Biggest battery drain is your screen
Then it's your 3G connection (for constant data).
LED light is not very power hungry. Vibrating motor drains a lot more as it needs power to move a tiny motor in your phone, and any movement is just a drain in a portable device.
Hope I've helped a little

Thanks for your input.
The thing is, my evo 3d on ics drains MUCH less when idle than this phone does, and the evo 3d also recieves lots of whatsapp and is subjected to the same usage as this. On jellybean the android system and os is way too high, and on gsam the kernel (android os) has kept my phone awake for 24 mins after 3 and a half hours and on my evo 3d it has kept it awake for 1 minute in 11 hours.
There is a big big problem with jellybean and the 4.1.2 update specifically.

If I could get ics on my note 2 I'd be quite happy tbh
I know there are threads regarding battery life out there, but most are all about usage and screen on time. My Note seems to be on par or at least close as far as screen on time. However, I'm just curious as to what all of you are experiencing as far as standby time. I've gone through the battery life guide and turned off most features I don't use, but the standby time still seems pretty lame. From a full charge, its been 3d 5h on battery with zero screen on time other than checking the battery stats right now, and it's down to 9%. Android OS consumed 57% and Google Play Services 33%.
I know I'm comparing Apple and Oranges here, but my 4th gen iPad I have for work hardly drains at all without use. After a week of standby, the iPad will only drop about 5-10%. I feel like this tablet should be capable of the same, and possibly will be after I root and find a good rom (also don't like to see any Apple product out-perform any android based product). Am I alone here?
Basic setup: Stock Rom (not rooted), Nova Launcher (prime), GPS off, Bluetooth off, reading mode off, multi-window off, screen mirroring off, s pen detection off, all samsung crap off (air view, etc), and others. Basically the only thing on is wifi.
I only have wifi off during standby and it drops 1-2% every 12 hours
You might have a tough time getting people to compare their standby time with yours... most people on this forum either use their tablet for work and if not are too in love with their baby to let it sit there untouched for days on end When I couldn't use mine for 12 hours, it dropped about 3% with WiFi and GPS on
Sent from my SM-P605 using Tapatalk
Yeah it is too hard to not touch it for days on end to test this. Turning off wifi while in sleep mode will help a lot. Go to the Connections tab in settings and hit the hardware menu key, then choose Advanced, and change Keep wifi on during sleep to never. That has helped me a ton. Right now mine is at 2d 7h 40m uptime with 4h screen time and it's at 32%. Even with that setting on, my iPad mini still gets better battery life. I have left it sitting for 2 days before without touching it and found it sitting at 92% battery life with wifi always on. My guess is it's something to do with the OS and iOS is just more efficient. That's why even with weaker hardware it can still outperform android tablets.
Also I'm still running a lot of the things you have turned off. You might want to also try Greenify. It has a non root working mode now, but works best in root. You can also try Wakelock Detector to see what apps are waking your cpu, so you can see what to Greenify. If you root you can also try an app to freeze apps as well like Titanium Backup and Rom Toolbox.
yeah, forgot about greenify. you have to be rooted though an need either the donation version to greenify play services(that's the battery killer) or use titanium to make it a user app to greenify with the free version. it's sad that google is the worst culprit with battery drain on all my devices.
I get 1-2% battery drop every 24hrs of standby. WiFi must be off, it not hard to just pull notification bar down and touch the wifi section off whenever you think you wont use the tablet for a while - takes like 2 seconds.
Sent from Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition via Tapatalk.
I have yet to try my battery life with wifi off, so I think that'll be next. I really don't need it connected while the screen is off, so I'll change that setting first.
I figured it might be difficult to get a good response for this question because I too have a hard time putting the thing down. Was just traveling for work and had it in my bag those 3 and noticed the battery drop. I appreciate all the suggestions and welcome any future ones. In the mean time, I'll be experimenting as well and report back if I find anything causing the drop.
