If you want to add more languages to your system without changing ROMs, you can try and install morelocale2 from the Play Store. However beginning with Android 4.2, the configuration process of that app is hit and miss.
You need to understand, however, that firmware has absolutely nothing to do with system languages. It is truly incredible to me how many people have no clue the difference between firmware and software. People that don't know this fundamental difference should not be hacking their devices.
Is there a way to reverse the firmware anyway? I'm curious S I think it May help my chances getting s off

Hi all,
Sorry for obviously being a noob. I am from Western Europe but bought my HTC Desire 816 in China and of course, as expected, there are no Google apps on it and even when I install Google Play store manually it doesn't launch the app.
I am thinking about whether or not I can put a different rom on the phone, a European (Dutch) one, or how does that work ?
Can anyone give me some advise please
Thanks!

Now you have the European version too from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52995489. But this is a single sim version. If you or anyone happen to find the dual sim english version, that would be of very help for me as I have soft bricked it recently and unable to find the RUU for that.

Unfortunately you cannot do that. You have to wait for the proper dual sim English version like me.

Complete Noob here, so please be patient.
Can anyone point me towards a VERY simple guide to installing generic firmware on my HTC One M(9). I would prefer not to root, but could use RUU
Please use simple language and be patient. I'm new to HTC but have de-branded Samsungs with Odin and the equivalent on Sony
Thanks

So when you say de-brand, you're looking to remove carrier bloat? What is your carrier?
So, the short answer is...to debrand (which in HTC One M9 terms means to convert to developer edition), you're going to have to:
1) Have GSM carrier
2) Unlock your phone and install TWRP custom recovery
3) Root (this is only temporary, when you flash developer rom you'll no longer be rooted)
4) Use the sunshine app to s-off (security off) your phone - this will allow you to...
5) Change your model id (MID) and carrier id (CID)
6) flash developer edition rom
here is a good guide

Remember, you need to be GSM (no sprint, no verizon)
Thanks for that, I'm on a UK GSM carrier (VodaFone). Will the developer edition be compatible with UK networks?

Then it's better you use one of the x.xx.401.xx firmwares from the link in my signature. Those are the international WWE (World Wide English) versions unbranded European M9s get shipped with. Nevertheless the DE (Developer Edition) RUUs would be compatible with your phone, too.
I have Sprint HTC One M9. And Its
Soff ed... And it has Super CID
Android Version is 5.1
Software Version is 2.6.651.11 ...
Can I install a international firmware to this Device ?
Or is there any way to convert it to international version ?
Please if you know any way to do that let me know ..
Thank you ....

Most definitely NOT... you cannot use firmwares that are not meant for Sprint, doesnt matter what network you want to use it on (I'm not sure about the status of Sprint SIM unlock, you'll need to check that), but do not go flashing non Sprint compatible firmware (or even ROMs, make sure they are Sprint compatible)
Regarding 32.4.A.1.54
1 is there a UK customized version available ?
2 if i use one for a certain network would it lock my phone to that network as its currently sim free , or would it just limit me to that network in till i change the ROM ?
3 would a customized version for a different country be better ?
thanks for any reply's

hopefully it helps
hi elf cheers for the reply , my issue i dont wanna use the Vodafone one since my phone is unlocked.. O_O im assuming it just has vodafone bloatware... but i dont want to do it in case it wont accept my sim then, since its not a Vodafone one. and have to revert back to a older version.

use the MENA Arabic version. I found it much better in terms of bloatwareZ
and its in English btw, its just designed for MiddleEast
however i am not sure what bands it won't support for Europe.
however there is also CENTRAL EUROPE version which i havent tried yet
You can choose to exclude parts before the flash.
I exclude all .ta files
Flashing a rom shouldn't lock your phone. But flashing a rom from a different region or CDA, xould cause wifi / radio conflicts.

if your bootloader is still LOCKED then kindly first downgrade to Android6.01 and EXTRACT TA.IMG using DIRTYCOW SCRIPT available on XDA
no yasu my boot loader is not locked im refering to the networks on xperifirm via the downloads... please read what im asking based on . E.g my phone is unlocked NETWORK WISE... the rom is normally use is Generic UK but its not on the latest update... but there is a Vodafone ( network provider ) in the Uk which has this rom up to date... e.g no different network bands.. but i'm assuming vodafone bloatware... also im asking based on it being a vodafone rom would it limit other network sims from working.
cheers

Good day dear.
thank you for explaining again. yes I got confused with the term UNLOCKED with bootloader only.
1. since your device is not SIMLOCKED you can flash any other region as long as you stay with-in your variant. the VODAFONE may have presintalled bloatware in this case try flashing central europe? (if its latest).
2. apart from anything else, consider downgrading to android6 or 5.1.1 for once, in order to EXTRACT TA.IMG
Hi everyone,
I am currently running an HTC 10 w/ Oreo (LeeDrOiD 10 V5.2.3 / CleanSlate 3.18.63) on T-Mobile. I got the phone new on ebay and it was a T-Mobile Demo Unit. Process to get the phone on oreo and leeDroid first was to change phone cid BS_US001 and mid to 2PS650000 and afterwards installed the the oreo firmware. I installed (2PS6IMG_PERFUME_WL_O80[email protected]60322_CNV_0.77_002_release_520336_combined_signed_2)
I have been having issues with my hotspot NOT staying on so I wanted to reflash the original firmware to see if that could be the issue and then reflash LeeDroid and the CleanSlate kernel.
I recently came across an xda thread that had all the Oreo firmwares ([8.0] HTC 10 OREO FIRMWARE) and I am bit confused as to the differences and what I should install. Being on T-mobile of interest is
T-Mobile/DE: <-- Developer Edition
T-Mobile/PL: <-- ???
US Unlocked: <-- Assume this is what my original firmware upgrade was based on even though I do see VZW (which I think means verizon)
Can anyone explain the differences between the 3 above and what I should pick? @Mr Hofs figure I would tag you since you know a ton about this phone
The differences between the firmwares aren't that significant, the main changes are that they have more carrier specific files embedded in them.
You have the hotspot issue on US unlocked, i have the same with WWE general firmware. I really don't think it's related to firmwares though. But try as you wish but you also need to change cids and mids.

I think you are better off trying wwe firmware or US unlocked with its pure stock rom. Way easier than going for carrier firmwares, they won't do you any good.
