To get something u have to loose something.. There is no other way available.. You can take backup and restore.. If u dont want to backup restore then u have to stick with unrooted phone

I want to unlock my boot loader and root my phone, but I've heard doing so wipes all data off of your phone. There is a certain live wall paper I would like to keep which is no longer available on the market.
How would I go about saving this file somewhere? Without having root access in the first place ofcourse.
Any tips much appreciated.

You dont need an unlocked bootloader to root your phone
if you root your phone first (theres a thread bout it in android development section) and install Titanium backup/MyBACKUPROOT and backup your wallpaper it should be saved
Unlock Bootloader,regain root access,restore!
Do I not need to flash down to 2.3.2 to use that root method? I'm currently on 2.3.3. Would flashing down wipe the phone?
Or is there a new root method?

Is there a way to prevent some apps to load when I turn on my phone (like "Whatsapp", that I don´t use) ?
Is there something like "/etc/init.d" ? Need to be root ?
Thanks
Yes, try Gemini app manager from the market. You can use that to disable auto start off different apps
And yes you do need root for that

hummm, I was trying to avoid root. If I get root access, I will delete all that trash...
Root access is easily available, non permanent, you can revert it, AND it does not affect warranty,.as long as you flash back original ROM before you send it.
Use zergrush exploit.
Btw, unlocking bootloader DOES void warranty

Thank you, I´ll do it and remove all that crap once and for all...
What are the risks behind unlocking bootloader and most importantly, what do we lose after we unlock it and lose the DRM codes? Do we lost the inability to receive official software from Sony over PC Companion?
Thanks in advance!

i was able to use again PC Companion, after i have relocked the bootloader (stock rom doesn't seem different)
just remember that this will wipe your data!

Look here if u want to unlock your bootloader - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2650510
And no you don't have to flash the ftf right after unlocking bootloader, you can do it anytime... Unlocking bootloader and flashing ftf are two different things

Hello Kaml,
Im not sure if rooting "by unlcking bootloader" is the only option you are considering but you dont need to unlock bootloader to root 4.3.
I rooted my Xperia on 4.3 following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51730927
If you want to unlock bootloader anyway, please, make a backup of the TA partition first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
To unlock bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2650510

Rooting with locked bl is too complex i didnt get it clearly and didn't used these tools before :/
Can someone please explain it to me clearly what to do

Hi Kaml.
Yeah, it's a bit confusing when you first go to it. If you dont like the adrenaline/fear/expectation mix, better is to ask someone else to do it for you
You say that's too complicated to root with a locked bootloader. That’s not always true, it’s relative. The post I linked to you is very clear and it’s not complicated at all, but you will need to start from a 4.2.2 rooted ROM, maybe that’s the complicated part for you.
Anyway, I suggest you to confirm if you can unlock your bootloader. Did you checked it already? It may save you time by knowing it beforehand.
To check, go to the dialer and type: *#*#7378423#*#* then go for Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you are able to unlock it. This is from thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484622
Read that thread, especially when it says “before unlocking please take backup TA partition from here”. By backing up the TA partition you can restore it later if need and then you have some chance of not losing Sony warranty if you ever need it.
Im not aware of other methods for rooting 4.3 besides the link I posted on my first reply, take a look and you will find other methods (probably).
Anyway, if you are interested in backing up the TA partition, it’s only possible if you have a rooted phone already and that’s kinda of a chicken/egg problem so that’s another motive of seeking for rooting methods without touching the bootloader at first. One way to solve it is to half root your phone, enable USB debugging and Unknown Sources from development menu, then run the script to backup the TA partition.

Bro you need to flash the 4.1 firmware using the flashtool.
Here is XMS 4.1 ftf file link- https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B23-yUd9svboQ3g1cGdKdnlWSDA/edit?pli=1
and here is the guide to use flashtool - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697277

There is probably a backup of TA.img on mobile.. It'll be in the sdcard. That's the home folder.
