I have a note 2 and maybe a long time ago I downloaded apps which might have caused a problem on my phone and I thought I removed the apps but the problem is still there months later.
Basically random apps are added to my phone. I don't think they are actually downloaded to my phone because I can't see them in my app list but over time it's clogged up all my free home pages with icons for the apps. Now that all the space is taken it will say no space for shortcut.
I'm not sure how to get rid of this problem. Help please?

I use to store application to Samsung Kies
From what this sounds like, you have shortcuts on your home screen that are to non installed apps. Try pressing and holding the app until a menu comes on the top of the screen, keep holding and drag it to either "Uninstall" or "Remove"
I hope this helps
Id say back up what you need and fctory reset.
Assuming these arent just latent shortcuts and a bad launcher....
You could, try avast (incase it virual); you could remove all non - essential apps one-by-one (I would start by opening the playstore and looking at your apps to find the ones with the lowest reviews, read the comments.); you could try a new launcher and forget about the old homescreens, if these appeared there you would know something is afoot.

I have this star with an orange circle dot inside it that pops up at around 5:30am (eastern time) almost everyday since a few days ago. When I pull down the top bar to see the notification, it is an advertizement that will open up an internet browser.
I would love to know how this is happening and what app it might be that is causing this. I have about 90 apps installed and dont want to go ahead and delete everything to hunt it down.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
BTW=running Calkulin's Evo2 Froyo rom.
Have you tried going into Settings > Applications > Running Services? You should be able to spot anything running that's out of the ordinary that way.
I did check, didnt see anything, but i will check again today as I bet it will pop-up today a few hours at 530am. Has anyone seen this as well??
here is an idea....
use titanium backup to FREEZE all USER APPS, except for ones that you are SURE are not it...then if you see that at 0530am it did not happen, unfreeze a number of them, maybe 10 or so. at the next 0530am continue this process...until you find the group of 10 that causes the problem to resume.
It's some rogue app that is pushing ads (AirPush). Go to the market and check the reviews on some of the latest apps you've downloaded. that'll help you track it down along with anthonyandrews's idea.

Initial nailed it. I recall this being discussed on the forum a short while back. Thats just ugly for an app to do that though.
out of curiosity, what was the app?
It's called heyzap. New way of ads.

hi all
i had 2 newbie questions!
1.where can i find the apk files that my phone downloads from market?
2.my phone only shows 7 pages of app whereas i've downloaded much more!
restarting the phone didn't solve the issue! what should i do?
3. quadrant doesn't connect to server and i can't see its results!
4. after restarting, my manually sorted apps lose their order!!! and i don't know on what basis they tend to sort themslves! this is REALLY annoying!
thanks in advance
1 - You'd need root access to get to them, they're stored in //data/app/
2 - Not all apps appear in the app drawer. Launchers, widgets etc tend not to have an entry in the drawer.
3 - No idea, sorry.
4 - That's just the way it is, a known bug.
I'm agree with no.4 , it's really annoying me. Whenever I reboot my phone, the order is messed up

[Q] Something is installing " the hobbit" & "kingdom of camelot" apps?
I'm seeing two apps that have been installed THE HOBBIT and KINGDOM of CAMELOT. I did not install them. Any idea what's installing them without my permission? And I'm not saying these are REAL apps. that's just what they are titled. Once I clicked on one and it tried to open a browser window.
Also, I noticed an app called COOL APPS that goes to a browser window: www.iconadverse.com/redirect
I'd like to find what is installing this ****.
Thanks
Maxi
Have you downloaded a free app from the Play Store lately?
A lot of apps do this to make money. Usually it installs some kind of search app.
Uninstall some recently installed apps and see if they go away.
Are you rooted? If not, its not possible for an app to install other apps in the background without user confirmation, or so I've picked up on from my reading.

Sort your apps by installation date, and post the last dozen here.
I don't know if it's worth installing an anti-malware app at this point, but you can try Addons Detector. That might be able to find the offending app.
And odds are that what you see as apps for the Hobbit and whatever are only shortcuts placed on your homescreen by a bad developer. Either way, I'd be concerned and upset. I hope you will find the cause of this and go back to the Play Store to comment/rate as needed (unless you sideloaded it..)
Both are being advertised on Facebook this week sounds like you clicked on it from there.

Hi guys.
A friend of mine gave me to take a look at her Grand Duos yesterday (now that sounds weird ). She said that although she had very little applications installed the handset would not allow her to install anything anymore even it was a mere application of some kilobytes.
I went to application management and storage and noticed something very weird. Although it is an 8GB handset (no external SD card attatched) and although the installed applications are indeed very few (Viber , Facebook, Instagram and another 2-3 apps) the system reports outrageous numbers in her data storage like 32GB or more which is simply impossible.
She is non rooted on stock version and the issue began since she tried to upgrade OTA to the latest version (I assume this must be 4.2.2). I own an XPERIA so I am copmletely unfamiliar with the Samsung forums and the general samsung tips-tricks and issues. Is it fixable. Is there a way to eliminate that issue? What are my options?
Sorry if I am asking something that has been answered before but due to lack of time it is impossible for me to look over tens/hundreds of forum pages to find something similar. I'd appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks in advance.
Once I also got the same problem...
Go to app manager.... And then go to ALL applications Tab.... Press the menu key... You will see a Popup menu in which you will see.... SORT BY SIZE... select that... You will see at first it would be gallery which will be of 15gb or else.... Clear data of gallery.... And your problem would be fixed...

Great I'll try that. I assume this will also resolve the issue during which the phone won't allow her to install more applications, right?
Supposedly the reason why she cannot install even the smallest app right now is that the system detects an excess of 32GB of stored content. So once this is "cured" then everything will be ok.

Its because of gallery app its a bug actually....Follow what siddhu2199 said... If that doesnt work just got to setting - application manger - search gallery app and disable it...clear the data too and see if it works...u can enable it if u have any probs... I personally tried it and it had worked for me... If u want to view pics u can download QUICKPIC app which is very light and Awesome but after disabeling default gallery app u will not be able to view u r photos straight away from camera...
While I study for the GRE, I do a lot of switching between OneNote and some other app ( eg dictionary ). Considering the slowness of loading recent apps, it gets a bit annoying considering the number of times I need to switch between the two. Hoping for a way to switch between the two most recent apps without actually going into recent apps.
Can either app work in multi view?
Onenote is for reading so would rather avoid having a split view

You could try MW enabler (Search for it in the play store) It doesn't require root, and it would allow you to take one (or both) of the apps and shrink them down into a bubble, that you could easily open and close and hide. In your situation it might be an option.
There are some limitations due to it not needing root... the 2 biggest are that it has to uninstall and reinstall the app... you will lose whatever you have unless you have it backed up somewhere (wouldn't think its a big deal for a dictionary) and you need to turn OFF auto updating for those apps, because if they update from the play store you will lose the multi window/bubble feature until you re-activate it.
Yeah not sure if I like that option thanks for the info. If it irritates me enough the next few days I will likely reconsider

Didn't know this was possible without root. Awesome! And it removes it from the list of installed apps for you so no fear of auto updates.

Give switchr a try. l set it up in "Flow" mode and use a right side edge trigger. Seems to work well for switching between applications.
Umm just drag your finger down and in from the top right corner of the screen while in app. Then you can minimize it to a bubble or have multiple apps open at once on the screen.
right you can windowize the app... then all apps that are windowed can be iconized by pressing the home key.
I'll have to watch a video on YouTube to see what you're referring to. New to this whole multi window thing
