I'm on ne6 rom and did the platform.xml edit. I can delete and copy files fine in es file explorer or stock file manager. But after I reboot all the files that I thought I deleted from my external sd card are still there. And the files I copied to my card are not. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.
Solution- replace or format card

Assuming you're saving your backups to your external sd card, there will be a folder there called clockworkmod. go in there and then backup. Each folder there is a separate nandroid, just delete the folders of the ones you don't want.

You can use root explorer and find the folder clockwork mod inside sd card or external sd card folder. It should be under the backup folder inside clockwork folder. Delete From there.
In short
Root explorer > sd card/external sd card> clockworkmod> backup. Delete from there.

hey fellas,
Im running WanamLite 2.5 with stock kernel and I cant write to the external storage nor delete files from it.
I've checked the Write_external_storage permission in the platform.xml file and it all seems fine.
also tried various file explorers, including the stock one and eventually ran out of ideas.
any suggestions are welcome.
thanks in advance
With root explorer navigate to storage-extsdcard- permissions check all. Reboot.

Root explorer cannot change permissions. Popup screen comes up and says sd card cannot change permissions :S

Have you guys encrypted your extsdcard.?
Inly that remains. Root explorer changes permissions as it is supposed.
Check for encryption at settings-security-encrypt external sd

I'm having the same problem.
It was working the other day (I copied some files to the sd card).
Today, I noticed it wasn't deleting files, and I can't write files.
The permissions look OK in ES Explorer, but when I try to change them it says the card is write protected.
But, if I take the micro sd card out and put it in an adaptor and into my laptop, I can delete and copy files to it without any problem.
I'm on Wannamlite 2.7. I did have the latest Perseus Kernel, Simplistic Framework, 23 toggles and CRT animation as well.
I reflashed Wannamlite only (ROM, kernel and modem), but still the same problem.
Anyone else got any ideas?
Format sd card ? Since its in read only mode data can be copied.

Ok, so I copied everything to my laptop and then formatted it and copied it all back. It seems to have fixed the problem.
I've deleted 5 files and moved 2.
It was formatted to FAT32 before (as I was using Note2Core that doesn't support exfat), this time I just let windows format it as exfat.
I switched to Perseus last week so I could use the CRT off animation. Maybe that had something to do with it.
I had done a full factory reset since though.
BTW, if you need to reformat your SD card, use an adaptor and put it in your laptop to copy the files. It is a lot quicker than MTP if you have a lot of data.

I would copy all the files from the SD Card to your PC, via a sd card reader or if u still have the evo.
then put the card in your phone, boot to recovery and format the external sd card.
then boot to system and then if the phone sees the Sd card you can copy back the files that you need

What do you need the Evo for? He told you take the card out, put in your computer, copy all the files you need. Put the card back into the S3 boot into recovery format external SD card. Reboot your s3 and now see if it recognizes the sd card fine. Now go back to computer and copy over the files you needed to save.

You have 2 threads about your phone. First try doing a complete restore of your phone. Some where in Settings. If things still bad, ask for a replacement.

Hi all,
Stock music player does not read folders and files from external ad card.Is it the normal behaviour or could you please suggest

I also have e988 and all my music is on my SD card and the stock player sees all of it. Check whether your SD card is properly detected by the system and whether you have .nomedia in those folders.

For newbies, try copying all your data card files on your computer, format your memory card in your phone and then put it back.
Check for .nomedia though
Sent from my LG E988; click thanks if i helped you. it will be appreciated
Hi,
Thanks for the inputs.music video files were detected earlier from the same sd card.whatever that is detected is still showing up.New folders are not..nomedia is not there.

Hi,
Guess it's not detected because es file explorer was used to transfer to sd card.now it's getting detected when the process is repeated using stock file explorer

Hi guys,
since when I updated via dload folder to kitkat I didn't have got a sd card I put dload folder in the internal memory of the phone.
Now, 2 months later, I am running fine cm11 and I would like to remove this folder since I need some space. The problem is that I can't delete dload folder. I've tried via pc, via ES manager with root permission but nothing worked. I have thought that formatting internal storage vuia TWRP would definetely resolve the problem but I don't know if this could cause other problems or brick the phone. Any suggustion is appreciated
Thanks in advice
It shouldn't cause any problems but you should backup any personal data and some app data stored on it.
