I've recently arrived home from vacation and I've installed the latest LG mobile driver direct from the LG website (vers. 3.11). Trouble is, Windows doesn't say anything about drivers uninstalled properly or anything, drivers are properly installed but it can't go into MTP mode.
anyone have some suggestions?

Which rom are you using? I have the same problem with gee based roms. Stock and gproj roms are working fine.
I think this is stock 4.1.2? This is a converted F180K though so I'm pretty sure this is some knockoff.
Anyway since I'm not so sure, here's a screenshot I took.
Nevermind. Found workaround. Installed WiFi File Transfer to act as replacement for MTP, will also use superbeam to beam large files from pc to phone (phone to pc does not work though, wonder why).

Just yesterday my computer stopped recognizing my phone. As this tends to be a big problem for me as I transfer a lot of files to and from my phone and computer a lot. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is. I've tried rolling back to the pre-updated driver that originally came with the phone. That didn't work. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that didn't work either. I am running windows 7 home on this computer. Does anybody have any ideas?

I have been having the same problem with mine, I am going to keep trying different solutions, but I think it may be a phone problem since I can not get it recognized under mac or linux either.
Got a GS3 a little over a month ago in exchange for an Evo LTE that was having serious text message issues. As soon as I got it, I was experiencing absolutely horrible battery life, so I immediately rooted and installed Blazer rom on stock kernel. I did this through Odin, so I had to plug my phone into the computer, which recognized it as a USB storage device so I could access files and whatnot.
Fast forward to now and I"m still having seriously battery life concerns. Today, I ran the one-click unroot/return to 100% stock zip from this link. I tried to plug my phone into my pc to load the file, but though it will charge, the PC won't recognize the phone. I ended up downloading the file to the phone and resetting to stock (thinking I was taking it to Sprint tonight). I made sure the most up-to-date Samsung drivers were installed. I updated my chipset drivers. My USB 3.0 drivers. I even updated the BIOS. Tried three different USB cords and all 14 USB ports (2.0 and 3.0). No luck. Windows keeps saying "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunction and WIndows does not recognize it." I have XP, 7, and 8 all installed on this box and none would properly recognize my phone.
My question is whether this is a computer problem or a phone problem. Given my semi-advanced knowledge of computer hardware, I'm inclined to believe this is actually a problem with the phone, but don't want to go waste an hour or two at Sprint trying to get it fixed. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Picture of actual error included.
Wish I could help. I had a few issues connecting my S3 to my work computer, but downloading the Samsung drivers for the Sprint Galaxy S3 L710 from the Samsung web-site solved that problem. I'm using XP at work. On my home computer and my laptop, which are both using Windows 7 Ultimate, I haven't had an issue though.
Maybe try using the driver from the Samsung web-site or trying to install Samsung Kies and then connecting your phone.

I tried Kies. I installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled the drivers twice, with a restart inbetween each step to be safe. No luck.
Stopped by the Sprint store today. They couldn't get it to work either so as it turns out it was actually the USB port on the phone.
Hey, everyone! I would REALLY like to root my Verizon LG G3 4.4.2. I've installed the Verizon Drivers, and it installed all the drivers just fine, but I only have two USB modes. MTP and PTP. It's starting to become VERY frustrating because I've tried reverting and reactivating USB Debugging, multiple reboots, I even tried Stump and it said "Device is patched, sorry."
I would love to ditch the stock OS and jump onto some CM12 as soon as possible! Thanks!!
EDIT: I found out that you need to be at the factory stock version that came with the phone since the update patched rooting. I found a downgrade tutorial link so I'll go through that!! Hope it works! lol
What I want to do is download the pictures off of my phone onto my computer via usb cable but, after I tethered it to my computer I can't seem to make that work anymore and in devices it shows up as a modem... I'm on 5.0.1 and windows 8 pro. If you need any more info just ask. btw I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers but that didnt seem to work... thanks!
Tethering shouldn't be turned on in the phone settings. Tethering allows your computer to use your phone as a wired hotspot, aka modem. Turn off tethering and you'll be good to go.

its been off and its still off but, it still shows up as a modem anyway... any other ideas? I really dont want to reinstall windows if I dont have to. I know it works on my other computer so its something to do with the drivers but I've tried uninstalling them as best I can and reinstalling them maybe I'm just missing something. Thanks tho!
I recently unrooted my m8 and reverted back to the stock os and now everything works great. I had a wifi issue when going through the stock process but I found the problem. Now the phone is usable, but every time I connect it to my PC, it shows up but this is all I see.

I should also note that when I try drag something into the phone directory it gives me an error saying "The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnecting" and on HTC sync manager my phone shows up for a split second and then gives me "device unavailable. Please reconnect your device. [4]"
Edit: Some Apps like facebook, hangouts are also not updating. Not sure if that has anything to do with the syncing problem.
Thanks!
