Guys I need help.
I bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note II on an Irish equivalant of Ebay (adverts.ie) knowing it was locked.
I thought maybe I could unlock it with one of those "unlock any phone now" websites. I tried two, returning the same
results. Failure. So how can I unlock it?
Any details needed just ask.
I'm in Ireland, phone is locked to Meteor network. It's the N7100, rooted with CWM and running Ditto's Note ROM (4.4.2)
Thanks in advance,
Chris.

Hello,
I just purchased a second hand Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GMS) in France carrier locked to SFR. Since the previous owner didn't provide the receipt, it will be virtually impossible to convince the carrier to unlock it for me (even though French and European legislation says otherwise).
If I understand correctly, unlocking the bootloader or rooting the phone will not get me anywhere. How can I carrier-unlock this phone without having to install a custom ROM.
I will gladly accept links to other threads although I have looked and did not find any clear answers.
[EDIT] It occurs to me that since this is a Google vanilla phone I could simply flash it with a stock Android ICS ROM. Is this correct ?
Thanks
You're right that rooting won't help. You'll need a SIM unlock code.
Ok guys, I have a quick question. I bought a T Mobile SGS2 brand new and will be unlocking it with which ever site I can find to buy the code off of. But my question is that, if I root it and flash custom roms on it and all that we do with our Android devices, will it be locked again after a flash or root.
Reason why I am asking is because I will be sending this phone to a family member outside of US but before that I will root and flash CM10 on it.
So can someone please tell me if it will stay unlocked?

Once unlocked - forever unlocked, no matter the Rom.
To unlock, you need to be on the original T-mo Rom and you
can request from T-mo Tech. support the unlock code for free.
Awesome news, now.I wont have a problem sending the phone. Thank you for your response, appreciated.

T-Mobile will not unlock
Hello I just wanted to let anyone who stumbles across this to know that T-Mobile will not unlock the phone if you are not currently a T-Mobile customer. I was able to unlock my phone using cellunlocker.net for $25.
Previously I purchased a samsung galaxy note 2 from T mobile and I factory unlocked it by following instructions online with service menu and so on.
But now I've purchased this galaxy s4 from Globe carrier in the Philippines and I cant do the same thing as I did with my note 2 before.
I cant access service menu when I type *#0011# I cant go back from service mode menu and cant access any options.
I saw a lot of instances of this with different carriers but I havent found a solution yet.
My questions:
1. Is it possible to flash a firmware from a different carrier to my i9505 globe tel locked? Im scared to brick my phone so I havent tried yet.
2. If my above question is possible, will I be able to access service menu by then?
3. Is it possible to unlock phone by rooting?
Thanks very much! Happy new year!

Ok so in order to do this, you must replace your current sim card with your new carriers sim card. Then, call your carrier and ask for an unlocking code when you are prompted to the unlock code screen. Then just tap okay and your Samsung S4 should be unlocked! Good luck. Thumbs this up if it helped
Hello All, I bought my note 3 in ebay with bad imei (not black listed) and i got it yesterday.
Well i used the region lock app and it worked like a champ i'm in DR, and i'm in 4.3 mi7.
I want to confirm with someone who tried this that i could upgrade to kitkat through kies and get my phone still unlocked.
or any another way to upgrade to kitkat ?
thank you.
pd: I came from a note 2 verizon, i think this phone is just perfect
Well as i didn't get an answer.
I want to leave the solutions that i found: Trying it anyway.
No. "region lock away" is permanent apparently. I update from 4.3 mi7 to 4.4 ne6 and later i rooted it with towelroot (geohot method).
All working and very easy. Hope i can help with this to somebody who was lost as me ^^

If your phone is region UNLOCKED it will always remain UNLOCKED regardless of
any firmware updates/upgrades/kies/ota and regardless which twrp/cwm compatible
stock or custom rom/kernel you might want to flash.
However I have a hunch that your Note 3 will soon be blacklisted
since it has a bad IMEI and soon you will not be able to use it for
making or receiving cellular phone calls.
If I were you I would get in touch with eBay, you are protected and they will refund
whatever you paid for it.
It is against eBay's policies and terms of service to sell a cell phone with a bad IMEI
unless the seller listed his auction as cell phone for sale "parts only".
Good luck!
Hi there, double post alarm sorry, but im only giving the expose and linking the rest to keep it short:
so origninal post Note 2 LTE - suddenly sim locked again ???, as "Droidriven" pointed out, i should have posted this in the appropriate device specific forum from the very start perhaps, so this is my 2nd try:
..so allmost ready to let it go, but with a glimps of hope out there...depending ou you guys...
the History(expose):
The phone: Samsung Galaxy Note2 GT-N7105 LTE ( t0lte ): initially locked to the Austrian Carrier A1, but i bought it allready unlocked.
2013 - root via clockworkmod and wanam light rom - later only minor changes - 2016 - updated recovery to TWRP 3.0.2 and cyanogenmod 13.0 - 20161118-NIGHTLY (Marshmallow juhu!! cool!!)
...suddenly not reachable via cellular network. Still able to make phonecalls and reachable via landline (pretty strange...) - Simcard-swap gave me request for SIM-unlock code
..so from now on no calls or whatever ..no signing on to the network at all
imei and baseband intact - only noticable alteration was unattended update to cm-13.0-20161122-NIGHTLY
-> reverted to stock - didnt help
unlock via free unlock methods aswell as paid attempts didnt either...
dd-ing back old backups: PIT-File and EFS-partition and Flashing original original Stock via Kies...no use...still locked
GalaxSIM unlock says unsupported Model - purchased Unlock code (including unfreeze code) no use....im stuck!!!
:crying:
What do you guys think? ...any suggestions
if you're confused (..as i am), check out the whole story
Thanks for any help in advance...
When you mention sim unlock code, are you referring to a code to unlock the sim or carrier/network unlock code?
I've never personally come across a situation where a phone re-locked to the original carrier after unlocking with a code or using a free method. This includes flashing ROMs, bootloaders, and modems to an s2, s3, s4, note 2, note 3, and note 4..

The quickest solution may be to buy an unlock code from eBay. Unlocking by code should be permanent.
