Previously I purchased a samsung galaxy note 2 from T mobile and I factory unlocked it by following instructions online with service menu and so on.
But now I've purchased this galaxy s4 from Globe carrier in the Philippines and I cant do the same thing as I did with my note 2 before.
I cant access service menu when I type *#0011# I cant go back from service mode menu and cant access any options.
I saw a lot of instances of this with different carriers but I havent found a solution yet.
My questions:
1. Is it possible to flash a firmware from a different carrier to my i9505 globe tel locked? Im scared to brick my phone so I havent tried yet.
2. If my above question is possible, will I be able to access service menu by then?
3. Is it possible to unlock phone by rooting?
Thanks very much! Happy new year!

Ok so in order to do this, you must replace your current sim card with your new carriers sim card. Then, call your carrier and ask for an unlocking code when you are prompted to the unlock code screen. Then just tap okay and your Samsung S4 should be unlocked! Good luck. Thumbs this up if it helped

Hi guys, you can unlock you N7105 via the Samsung hidden menu. [Also works with N7100 and some Galaxy S3 (SIII) variants - NOT ALL]
=======================================
Before doing the instructions below, please double check your phone that it is actually LOCKED by inserting a sim card from a different carrier/provider...
Quote:
Unlock your N7105:
Note: your phone must be running at least Jelly Bean 4.1 otherwise some of the menu choices are not present
Just dial the following keys *#197328640#
Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > (after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone... enjoy!!! There is no confirmation on the phone that the unlock was successfull.... just reboot your phone....
To test, just insert a sim card from a different carrier/provider. If the new sim card works then your phone is now unlocked.
I have done this to my other Note 2 N7105 originally locked to Orange.....
========================================
Do this procedure AT YOUR OWN RISK
========================================
To those who were able to unlock their phone with the method above, can you please post in the thread and let us know which phone model (N7100 or N7105) you have, Country and Network/Carrier your phone was locked to...... and if I have saved you some cash, please click the Thanks button or the Donate button on the left just below my name to buy me a can/bottle of Heinekken, Quilmes, Budweiser, Fosters, Tiger, Stella Artois, or San Miguel ...
========================================
I have mentioned in my old thread that there was a pop up message that says "Conditional call forwarding active" everytime I make a phone call using another SIm card that the phone was not able to use before unlocking.
I can confirm that this was due to my Sim card. It is a very old O2 sim card that I have used for years. I have tried that Sim card on another factory unlocked phone (Galaxy i8160 bought from P4u) and it had the same message.
I did this on Canadian Telus Note II SGH-I317M and worked FLAWLESSLY

Question about future updates
Does this mean if you were to update your firmware in the future the unlock would be removed?

No. The unlock is permanent.

Do you know if it's purely software based? I'm wondering if one was to flash a custom rom if that would affect the unlock.

I did this on my 1713 but don't know if unlocked. Should it tell you? I don't have another sim.
Just tried it on my AT&T Note II with a T-Mobile SIM and didn't ask me to provide a unlock code after doing the above OP instructions. Before trying the unlock method I turned phone with T-Mobile SIM and it asked for a unlock code.
Now will try it on my Galaxy S III running Jelly Bean.

Thanks for digging this long buried thread up just to tell us that...?
I could be wrong but I believe it would still be legal if the phone was bought before the law went into effect. At least that was my interpretation.

Correct
And if you're no longer in a carrier contract, is it also illegal to unlock?
Nope then the phone is yours ...I think....its just when u owe them for the phone
Awesome, works flawlessly with both ATT sgs3 and ATT Note 2.

i keep getting no connection or invalid ime? code.. on both my att gsiii and att gnii

Some people believe that you still need to get permission from the carrier to unlock the phone to switch to another service even if your contract is over.
Here's a link to the docket for you legal buffs/lawyers who want to translate it for us:

Frankly, it's not going to stop people, and it's going to take a lot for cell phone companies to enforce such a thing. There are people out there, such as Craigslist, who buy new phones and renew their contract, but continue using their old phone and simply turn around and sell their new phone at full price.
Guys I need help.
I bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note II on an Irish equivalant of Ebay (adverts.ie) knowing it was locked.
I thought maybe I could unlock it with one of those "unlock any phone now" websites. I tried two, returning the same
results. Failure. So how can I unlock it?
Any details needed just ask.
I'm in Ireland, phone is locked to Meteor network. It's the N7100, rooted with CWM and running Ditto's Note ROM (4.4.2)
Thanks in advance,
Chris.
Hi to all, im new on the forum, i was looking to find a way to unlock my S3 t999 which has the android 4.3 JB, i got a lot of info but it seems that i only Rooted my S3, i found out that there an easy way to do it whit the Service mode but since i have Stock 4.3 its impossible, was looking a way to downgrade to 4.1.1 but probably ill get a brick, so if there any way that i get some help unlocking my device i sure will appreciate it.
After 4.1.2 I think there is no free alternative available (unless your carrier gives unlock codes for free after a certain time period). The best way to unlock your phone would be by contacting your carrier for an unlock code which usually means paying a fee or using a pay service. I would recommend using your carrier because they will offer better support and this would reduce your risk of getting scammed by a online service.
Help please!
Hi! Where do I begin?! So I have a tmobile s3 T999LTE version. Previously I rooted it because I wanted custom rom on my phone. Then I wanted to sell it so I unrooted it. I had read somewhere that after unrooting I should revert to latest stock firmware which was 4.3...BIG MISTAKE! It's now running on 4.3...LUVUBOH1 and I CAN'T UNLOCK IT! Tmobile had sent me a code which did not work, then I switched to metro pcs and purchased a code off ebay,which was the SAME code tmobile had given me. I now have metro pcs on another phone and when I put in my current sim in s3 it doesn't prompt for code! And no key combos are working due to change in dialer. I am stuck and gave no idea how to fix it. Imei is valid and I'm pretty sure I'm running stock 4
3. Help anyone? Please? ???
Was the phone running a completely stock rom when you tried to enter the code? How many times did you try to enter the code?
I currently have a t-mobile note 3 stock rooted with two installed.
My question is, can I take a Verizon pre paid Sim and put it in the t-mobile note 3? I've tried flashing custom roms with different modems. Doesn't work. I tried region unlock, no go. What else can I do?
Is there even a way to do it? Oh yea, it's my sisters phone. It was Givin to me cause she got the note 5. T-Mobile will not give her the unlock code either. I've scoured the web. Nothing on the matter except Verizon note 3 with a t-mobile sim...
Any ideas? Thanx guys
Unlock my mobile.Com or unlock my blackberry Com should work. You'll pay for it, but get the code within minutes.
Hi there, double post alarm sorry, but im only giving the expose and linking the rest to keep it short:
so origninal post Note 2 LTE - suddenly sim locked again ???, as "Droidriven" pointed out, i should have posted this in the appropriate device specific forum from the very start perhaps, so this is my 2nd try:
..so allmost ready to let it go, but with a glimps of hope out there...depending ou you guys...
the History(expose):
The phone: Samsung Galaxy Note2 GT-N7105 LTE ( t0lte ): initially locked to the Austrian Carrier A1, but i bought it allready unlocked.
2013 - root via clockworkmod and wanam light rom - later only minor changes - 2016 - updated recovery to TWRP 3.0.2 and cyanogenmod 13.0 - 20161118-NIGHTLY (Marshmallow juhu!! cool!!)
...suddenly not reachable via cellular network. Still able to make phonecalls and reachable via landline (pretty strange...) - Simcard-swap gave me request for SIM-unlock code
..so from now on no calls or whatever ..no signing on to the network at all
imei and baseband intact - only noticable alteration was unattended update to cm-13.0-20161122-NIGHTLY
-> reverted to stock - didnt help
unlock via free unlock methods aswell as paid attempts didnt either...
dd-ing back old backups: PIT-File and EFS-partition and Flashing original original Stock via Kies...no use...still locked
GalaxSIM unlock says unsupported Model - purchased Unlock code (including unfreeze code) no use....im stuck!!!
:crying:
What do you guys think? ...any suggestions
if you're confused (..as i am), check out the whole story
Thanks for any help in advance...
When you mention sim unlock code, are you referring to a code to unlock the sim or carrier/network unlock code?
I've never personally come across a situation where a phone re-locked to the original carrier after unlocking with a code or using a free method. This includes flashing ROMs, bootloaders, and modems to an s2, s3, s4, note 2, note 3, and note 4..

The quickest solution may be to buy an unlock code from eBay. Unlocking by code should be permanent.
