[Q] Still Stuck On 4.1.2 Uzbekistan Note 2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I wonder if my Note 2 will be offered a taste of 4.4.2 KitKat? My phone had been stuck on 4.1.2 for ages. Could someone please advice? Many thanks!:crying:

Have you tried searching sammobile.com for the latest firmware in your area?
Or you could try custom roms from the development area. ^.^
Goodluck.

Try latest rom from sammobile or custom one from forum. Its france rpm but it will work on your area too.

Hi,
I would prefer to permanently change the CSC so I could update firmware through KIEW in the future. Actually I live in Cambodia, the shop I bought this phone cheated me said that phone is warranty set. Then only I found out it is not. I am so pissed that my phone is stuck with 4.1.2 till now that is why I would like to have the CSC changed. Can someone please help me guide me step by step on how to do it. My phone is non rooted. Also I attach my phone current CSC (check through CheckFus App). Many thanks in advance. :good:

Flash indian firmware. They are the first to get updates.
And when updating from 4.1.2 to 4.3 or 4.4.2 you should make a factory reset in recovery because they change storage location.
For best result after a flash i recommend you make a backup of your internal memory and flash the Indian firmware then make a factory reset.

Hi,
I have some doubts:
1) I still remember I saw some post stating that after flashing a stock rom, factory reset will change the CSC?
2 Is Chinese language available on India firmware?
Many thanks!

Product Code

I bought Galaxy Note 2 recently. The product code on the box reads GT-N7100RWDAFG. I bought it from Kuwait, but I live now in Egypt.
I searched sammobile for the stock rom for such product but no luck.
Can anyone help directing me to the stock rom of such product?
And is it possible to flash other stock roms in my device like say Egypt stock roms? I mean will this void my warranty, cause any harm to the device or even change the original product code?
Finally I read somewhere that if you i bought note 2 form a country and live in a nother I would not get firmware update via official ways (Kies), is it true?
Thank you very much for reading and responding!
Much appreciated

You can flash any stock firmware you want without harming it. You will still get updates if you set the right csc for that rom properly. Did you change your rom? I suggest sticking to stock if you want to get ota updates.
Thanks Alot for your answer. I did flash the stock rom using mobile odin and then rooted the device using the amazing cf autoroot tool. Don't need the ota, doesn't work anways.
Thanks again.

Flashing a different country official Samsung ROM through ODIN without any problems?

I have a Hong Kong Galaxy Note II, and I want to flash the official UK ROM on it.
I know the phone should work fine, however I want to know whether desktop Kies will recognise it as an official firmware and be able to receive future updates.
Basically, I want to convert a Hong Kong Galaxy Note II to a factory UK Galaxy Note II and be able to receive future updates through Kies as if it were a UK Note II.

No, Kies will not update your firmware if you have firmware installed that is not specificaly for your country/region. You have to do upgrades manualy with Odin.

Then you would have to change the product code, but why would you. Flashing a rom with Odin takes about 5 minutes mate, and is safer and better than Kies (wich is crappy software)

How can I change the product code to the UK unlocked version? The only reason I prefer Kies is so I can sell the phone at a later date on eBay without running into any problems, as it will be exactly the same as the UK version (if that makes sense)
Google it or search the xda forum.

I honestly had a look, but I can't find much information on it at all. Does changing the CSC also change the product code?
What if you flash different country ROM with odin? Will you have some problems with it. will you have some problems with radio or with something else because it's a ROM from another country?

Once if you have got the courage to install from odin, don't think you will ever need to wait for an official update for your region

[Q] INU versus INS version India Firmwares

Hello,
Could someone please enlighten me on what the difference is between the official INU and INS version firmwares that are available from Sammobile for India? I noticed the the INS version has 4.2.2 whereas the INU version seems to be still at 4.1.2 ... on Sammobile that is.
I had earlier upgraded to the Leaked 4.2.2, then the Official SER 4.2.2 then Balliboxer NextGenn and back to 4.2.2. SER and now have loaded the INS version of the 4.2.2 firmware through ODIN. All of these have worked fine with the usual published errors.
Somewhere along the line I had also rooted and then reflashed over root and KIES stopped upgrading my Grand. It shows (KOR) at the end of the Firmware Version and says on the line above it, that KIES cannot upgrade the device.
Last night I tried to reset the firmware back to the original state using KIES - it identified the device as an INU type, it loaded the firmware and then went into a boot loop. So then I restored the 4.2.2 INS official version and it is working fine, but KIES is still rejecting under the upgrade section and it still shows (KOR) at the end of the current firmware version.
So 3 questions ... as follows:
(1) Difference between the INU and INS versions of the India firmwares and
(2) How do I get KIES to upgrade the firmware on my device ... moving forward as I am now using the Official ROM.
Many thanks in advance and in anticipation of the valued responses from my senior forum members.
Ans.1 I also don't know
Ans.2 first install triangle away n reset counter and then flash official firmware of your region and after that go to stock recovery by pressing vol up+home+power button and wipe cache and do factory reset. . And then u r good to go.
HIT THANKS BUTTON IF I HELPED U

Why not just use ODIN and make everything easier?
INU and INS are product code an AKA region code...u can check it on ur device's salesbox or through kies...there is no difference between INU n INS firmware update...the only thing is if u r on INU u won't get ota update of INS release...same with INS...The csc for india is ODD...n it is same with INU n INS. ..clear???

Not sure, may be to split the OTA update load ?
I mean releasing for first half, and then for second half, based on the Sub-region like Urban and Rural areas.
It doesn't matter much I guess... INS or INU....

There's a slight difference:
INU= India unbranded/unlocked
INS= India service
Maybe Service means it is for devices that come with a contract.
thanks to all.:fingers-crossed:my device status is modified ..and i want to back normal.. so i f i flash this can i get everything ok and stock??
any reply will be helpful.

When I flashed these, INU was for the phone with service. It didn't process my SIM card.
INS on the other hand was unlocked. It processed my SIM card.
Strange!!

How lucky i am . Anyways changelist is the same
I wonder if Restoring via Kies as mentioned here would work for the GT-S7560M too?
When submitting my Serial Number, Kies gives me the following
"Initialized Version: PDA:MF4 / PHONE:MF4 / CSC:MF1 (CHO)"
How can I verify that that's the same as what I have right now?
How can I make sure I have my phone back to the original state in case I have to give it back to the carrier with guarantee issues?
I read that "any firmware" would do for this phone, but mine is not listed on sam-mobile (Tigo Bolivia).
The baseband is available as coming from various countries (including Guatemala as "Daver18qc's Deodexed/Rooted Guatemala" as mentioned in the FAQ just that that has a different baseband.) - Does that matter?
Thanks
EDIT: Works with Kies for Mac on a soft bricked S7560m
stock firmware

This One Is Easy...
Go to Sammobile.com and download your "Original / Current" Firmware and the Firmware you want to try.
Use Odin of Course to make the change.
If the New Firmware and Reset ( By You ) APN's don't work.... you have your "Original / Current" Firmware to flash back to using Odin.
If you do try this... You'll have 4 Parts to the ziped download.. stick each extracted file in it's designated spot within Odin and your off... :good:
Good Luck.
