I have installed gennext rom and it worked perfectly. But recently I experienced some problems in touch sensitivity. For example, if i touch and hold letter 'e' on my keyboard to enter number 3, it will type bunch of letter e's (eeeeee). I factory reset and installed the rom again. And touch was back to normal. But after few days problem came back. Is this a common problem or am I the only one having it? Please help
i'm having the same problem
I tought was the only one
I think it'a memory issue. Greenify nor cleanmaster didn't help
[UPDATE] It's weird but this touch problem goes away when I remove the back cover. I don't know how this is happening. Anyone know how to get rid of this?

Flip Cover some time create this issue & the charger is also one of the reason.
my problem solved after changing the flip cover.
May be hardware or software problem.
As much i know when sometimes during charging if voltage is fluctuating or something u get screen problem, but as soon as u remove from charging it gets alright,
For u issue might be with the screen so u can test that by trying other rom if it works on other than problem is in software ( this is a good dignostic method) every mobile have a dignostic ussd umber try that and in that check screen testing so u may confirm via that too..I hope it was helpful
Change your swollen battery.
Thats the reason of problem of touch screen.
That was my problem after change battery everithing is normal.
Battery presure the back of phone.
That may be the reason. Swollen battery, why didn't I think of that earlier

Hi,
sometimes the touchscreen of my defy stops working (but the phone is not frozen)
and the only way to fix it is to lock/unlock the screen...
does anyone have the same problem (and can help me)?
thanks
P.S
i've had the problem both with stock rom (2.2) and with cyanogenmod rc 1.5
When this happens, do the 4 buttons below your display still give you haptic feedback (little vibration) or do they react not at all?
Also, does this only happen when there's the normal launcher/standby screen active or when there's an other app active too ?
Did you undervolt ?
Edit: Also, this seems to be a hardware problem which seems to be well known in a certain German android forum but I cannot find much about it in here. In short, the digitizer unit seems to be broken for some people and locking/unlocking helps because it disconnects and connects power for the digitizer. The people there fixed the problem by replacing the digitizer (which isn't easy at all!).
It would be nice to have someone from XDA who had this problem before too, to confirm this problem!
First of all, thank you for the answer
When I have the problem, 4 buttons stop working too.
It usually happens after a period of stand-by, i don't undervolt or have some other application running than the launcher (ADWlauncher).
I bought the phone one week ago, if it is an HW problem, i can't repair it by myself...
I'd recommend to wait and see whether xda has other suggestions for you and if not, just check the Motorola hotline and ask whether they know something and if they do change it for free.
Also, what you describe fits perfectly to what I've read elsewhere (don't know whether I'm allowed to post a link here or if it were useful at all because it is in German). So it sounds like your digitizer could really be defect.
ok, even if i hope to solve the problem by myself...
News: They've changed the touch screen, but the problem is still present...
Can it be a sw problem??
Keep sending it back, they will replace it in the end.

the whole phone?
Yes, the whole phone. They have two year warranties, but don't put up or make do, you should have a phone that works right

Was definitely a software problem for me, havent had that problem since I'm on nightlies.
I wonder when it happens ,are you charging?

My phone touchscreen is not working whenever the screen backlight went off and whenever the screen is lock. It again works for sometime after rebooting or flashing stock rom and the same problem starts again. I have also updated my touchscreen firmware but it doesn't solve the problem. Please help me. Please. Don't tell me to go to samsung care coz my warranty period is over and there is no samsung care centre at my place.. Otherwise, I have to say good bye to my Galaxy y from today. Please, please, please help me.

You have done everything that's i would have told you - flashed stock , updated touch screen fw !
And i can't tell you to go to ssc
Anyway lemme just get some answers first :
Did this problem begin all of a sudden at random or do you remember doing anything that could have caused it ?
Also you sure the digitizers are okay ? You on stock 'kernel' right ?

Its too technical you can Google to know more - simply a digitizer is an interface that converts analogue inputs to digital ones - they are the main component of your capacitive or any other touch screen .
I know this because recently i had a similar touch screen problem but not entirely like yours as mine wasn't working at all no matter you reboot or lock - and i had to get the digitizer replaced to get things back to working

Google you'll fine plenty but make sure that its a digitizer problem before repairing ! Yours sound like some kind of bug to me as touch doesn't respond after back light goes off and works fine all other time .
Maybe someone else will have better solution wait
try that when u are on stock (rom, kernel, etc)...
just dont install any app...
try if for a time..
nd tell if the problem is still there
rooting is new for me...and i am noob to root...
Hello everyone. I am here seeking help for my Optimus G Pro. My soft keys are not working, they just stopped working today in the afternoon. It all started when i tried to download the leaked vitnamese kitkat version for my e980. At that moment i was running G2 v5.5. The download was taking forever it had onlyva speed of 100Kb but it wasn't constant. So imagine i kept checking the progress every 10 minutes.
During one of those times i noticed the some activity on the screen as if it were being pressed in multiple places. It seemed weird to me, i just proceeded to wipe the screen. The screen acter normal again and it stood still. My susrprise was when i accidentally went into the wrong app when i was trying to check 9gag and i pressed the back button and instead it opened the app in the lower left corner. I thought it was my mistake but it wasn't when i pressed it again it highlighted a section on the running app. I stood still and analyzed the buttons and neither the back or menu button worked. I have made factory resets even a hard reset with no reaults. I am now running Sphinx v1.3 but the issue persist.
I have thought that either the phone is damaged, the keys may have been unmapped due to some issue with the old rom , the phone needs a touch firmware update or wether i have to replace the touch sensor. Though the rest of the touch screen works great. Also let me mention that the phone has not been droppen in a long time.
Maybe i could flash somehow the touchscreen firmware and it could help? I dont know.
I need advices and criteria from the experienced ones.
Anyone else has experiences this or knows whats going on?
Thank you in advance to anybody who wills to help me. ???
I had the same problem. In my case it was the screen. Lucky I am still under warranty so LG fixed that.

Thank you for your reply...
So, you have an idea what caused the problem? And how it coukd be fixed?
My screen on the physical end seems great.
I have had mines ever since it cameout so i doubt i qualify for warranty.

Has it been a year? If it hasn't then you should be under warranty.

i have same keys issue at my e980 did you solve this problem?
So I am having this problem since 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 update. Once or twice a day the screen won't respond to touch. Should I use a custom kernal or this might be a hardware problems.

How do you fix it when it happens? Do you have to restart? Does the touch fail or does the tablet freeze?
Honestly not very sure what you could do, besides maybe trying a factory reset? That would work if a software problem.
What about cleaning it and removing any screen plastic guard.
U can say it freezes then I have to restart it. This is happening after two factory resets.

Same issue here, I think.
Just purchased a refurbished Nexus 7 (official factory refurbished) from Amazon. My touch screen works great for a day or so, but eventually touch stops working altogether and sometimes requires a hard-reboot (holding the power for 10-seconds). Downloaded a touch screen test app which works great (even with ten fingers on the screen), tracking well on all parts of the screen. It's just like the touch atrophies over time until it stops working.
First thing I did to the tablet after getting it was to unlock the bootloader and load stock/rooted 4.4.4. Is there some way to update the touchscreen firmware that I'm missing?
I don't want to open this thing up and muck with the hardware for fear of damaging it. I'm holding out hope that there is a software fix, because rebooting fixes it right up.

Oops - I looked at the link to the hardware fix, but not the firmware fix. Thanks, I'll give this a try first.
Firmware fix above seems to have alleviated the issue for me. At least I haven't seen the issue over the last several days, which is good news. Hopefully that holds up over the long term. :good:

This could be a number of things but I will try and narrow it down. If you are using a custom rom try to reflash it or flash another rom (do a clean install , wipe dalvik, system, cache, etc). If this doesn't work go back to the stock rom and see if the problem is still there. If the problem goes away on stock rom, then the issue is with whatever custom rom you are currently using. Worst case scenario is that this is a hardware issue with the touch screen and in that case you would have to send it back for a replacement.
Im using stock official rom

Reboot didn't fix it?
I would suggest a factory reset via the stock recovery.. You will lose all your data but in this way you know if it's a hardware defect, in the case it remains I would contact LG.
