[Q] new pro tab 12.2 downloading tons of stuff - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

So, set up my new tab pro 12.2 last night. This morning it seems like it is still downloading stuff.
When I look at data usage it looks like it has downloaded a total of 3G, about 2.25G just from google play store!
I know I don't have THAT many apps installed, and when I open the play store it doesn't look like it is doing anything.
Any ideas??

I got the 10.1 a few days ago. Today all of a sudden I got the same thing - but it was from the Samsung app store. It was all the Hanson office suite program files. I thought it was odd, myself.

Same here. Got new 10 in. yesterday and got it from both ends. Samsung downloaded a bunch of stuff then Google updated all the gapps crap b4 I got in to turn off auto update. After I play with it awhile, I will factory restore, TWRP recovery, and get rid of a bunch of bloat. I didn't sign up on the Samsung apps yet. Don't know if I want another user I'd to track. I rooted already. Am going to install Xposed framework.

For a new Tab after unboxing and setup is that normal, Google play will update all apps to the newest version.
After this update disable the autoupdate check by all google apps, so Google will ask you for the update.
If you make a factory reset or full wipe it will this do again.
For Samsung apps, this will only update if you create a Samsung account.
Delete your SAM account.

If you don't let it connect to wifi, you can turn off autoupdate, then login.

[Q] Reinstalling applications from Google

I had Galaxy SII with lots of applications on it bought and paid some from google store. Got the new SIII and have downloaded some apps I can remember; Titaniun Backup Pro; Rom Manager, Kindle, Speed Test, Fing, Free Adware, Power Amp, Alarm Clock Busy Box, Wifi Theter....bought Titanium Media Sync, No Bloat; so far but there are more apps I cant even remember..now I know there is a way to restore them from Google but I forgot and need some help with it.
The SIII is rooted but I have not installed any custom roms or kernels...tried with Kies and software told me there was a new Firmware update...did it and had to re-root after..lol...I have not done anything since I had my SII with Juggernaut v3.7 from forever on my old one.
I keep reading the stock kernel works OK. I did backup with titanium to external card but opss!!...it is not there so I cant restore any apps; besides, those apps were installed on the SII now I need them on SIII; I hope I do not have to download them one by one.
I *think* I kept my plan of 5gB; they tried to push me for the unlimited but I paid cash full price for the phone; i theter but not movies or games or such hungry data power; in this regards; Which is the applications that needs to be uninstalled or de bloated from the GSIII to be ok with the dreadful tmobile catching of thetering?
Really? Just go to play store check my apps section

[Q] Package File is Invalid

Has anyone else had a problem with updating or downloading apps? I've tried everything. I've called both Google Play Support and AT&T. I've restarted my router and modem, factory reset my phone, re-flashed the UCAMA4 ROM and updated to the latest UCAMC3 and it still happens. Most notably with Google apps like Chrome, Maps, Play Music, YouTube, Google Plus and Hangouts.
Been having the same issue all day.

I'm not a programmer, net tech background, but you guys have the latest issues posting on the web. I've been having the same issues all day, spoke with Google and ran their pre-programmed solutions. I'm just trying to do a reset & rebuild, all other apps seemed to install all right. Originally had issues with updating Chrome & Samsung Link, but in the past hr these 2 have been updated successfully. Only remaining issue is trying to install Twitter, still getting the same error.
Google issues all day myself. ..
And being linked to my home and work computers has made the problem even worse as I'm 4 states away from home. .
But I guess it's okay. .
At least I can post. ..g

I have 5 phones on my account and 4 (including the phone I personally use) of them, that I know of, are getting this message when trying to update apps or install apps. This includes certain Google apps, the AT&T apps and Facebook Messenger. I'm guessing this is going to turn into a widespread issue. I honestly think anyone and everyone who are having should call the Google Play Support number to report this error. Maybe then they fast track a fix once the programmers are notified of the error.
I said this once I'll say it again.. Try and update ur apps from a cellular network.. Not wifi......

Tried that. It works temporarily.
From my perspective, I think this error is linked to Android Device Manager. I haven't received the update yet, but started receiving this message on Monday. That is about the same time Android Device Manager started rolling out.
Things I tried...
Just trying to help figure out what is up so...
I have cleared cache on the google services, rolled back the settings update (gms.apk - removed the device manager), updated to the latest app store (4.3.10 - was on older version). I tried updating after each, no luck.
I can still download other apps, just not the google beta.
And if it matters, I am running Slim/ Devil with TBO apps...
EDIT: Working now...didn't do anything.
Wish I had seen this thread before I wiped my phone 18 times today. O well. Only Facebook is giving me this issue now.

The least they could do is allow manual update capabilities for the play services apk...
Try un installing the latest update from within your application drawer. .then allow Google services to update again. .
This issue is gone for me after doing so...g

Try deleting the app cache first. Then, delete the Google account and add it back. That should fix it for you.
Others have reported that this method doesn't fix their problems, but it did for me.
I have deleted the Dalvik Cache in the recovery mode as well, FYI.

Tried that as well, it doesn't work. But I noticed when I went to remove my google account there was a little message at the bottom that said Sync is currently having issues.

Twitter App

Is it just me, or has everyone else's Twitter app reverted back to the old UI?
I think that it happened after the last play store update. I am referring of course to the 2014 edition having (at least initially) the new Twitter tablet interface.
Thanks!

Got the tablet version back by uninstalling the updates to the app under application management. Must be a disconnect between the Play store and the version on our devices.

Can't sign in
I just got my note 2014 from my lovely wife. For some reason I get the message "error occurred when signing in please try again later" when trying to sign in. I went to application management and I cannot uninstall the app and the app in the market says it isn't compatible with this version. I also updated the app from the Samsung apps app. What can I do so I can sign in? I'm at a loss.

Nexus 7 Flo 4.4.2 gapps failure

Gapps failure is the best way I can describe my problem. About a week ago my nexus 7 decided to reboot itself while I was in the middle of some gaming (asphalt 8 I think). I took it as just you know the system needed it and said whatever.
The next day some apps start having problems. Specifically Google play apps. Then all of a sudden my nexus reboots and starts boot looping on the 4 colored balls part of the boot animation and then keeps going Google then balls. Back and forth.
I used nexus toolkit (v1.8.0 I think) to reboot the device in adb then ended up reflashing stock because the problems persisted.
Now the device is not bootlooping but every few mins some app force closes or pops up saying jot responding. Or even 7-10 different popups...
Idk what to do now. Please help?
NOTE:
This nexus 7 was purchased around Christmas time at my local best buy. It has been unlocked and rooted. Only things I ever did was use titanium backup to restore some game data from my phone. Never did anything more than that! And I guessed maybe a virus (if there is any such thing on android) did this but kaspersky reports no malware of any kind.
Apps and processes that fail:
Google play
Play music
Play books
Play games
Play magazine
Google+
Gmail
Google currents
Play movies
Google search
Google keyboard
Google text to speech
I don't remember the processes that crash so when they do I will update you on what they are. Please help!

Here is one of the processes that pops up

What I would recommend that you do is use the nexus root toolkit to install twrp recovery manager then boot into recovery manager and try clearing cache and everything but dont clear data and see if that helps.
If after you try that the problem still persists then boot into recovery manager and wipe everything....cache, Dalvik, and data.
By wiping data you will have removed your apps but they can easily be reinstalled with google play. You can use titanium backup to restore game data.
Oh and give this a try first...create a new gmail account and add that account under settings and see if that fixes anything. If under the new account you dont see any problems try switching back to your original account and see if the problems go away.
Hope it helps...

Thanks droidshadow for your response. Seeing how no one else commented this really must be an issue with my device. Not widely known. I attempted your solutions to no avail so I will be sending it to Asus. Hopefully they will give me a nice unit back that has no problems.

You did get TWRP on it? You could go all out with a custom ROM. In any case this looks like a simple enough issue to fix. Go to settings > apps > scroll right to all > now scroll down to Google Play Services, click on it and then clear cache. Now go down to Google Play and clear data, clear cache and then force stop. Ignore any misbehaving warning you may see. Now go open Google Play and re-register if asked. Let me know of if this helps.
What's going on should not require you to send it in. Worst case you do a complete factory reset with fastboot and not some tool.

Thank you for your tips. I actually did clear cashe and data on the services and even on other apps that randomly shut off. It temporarily fixed the issue for about an hour then all issues came back.
I have reset with nexus toolkit, I have factory reset while on the tablet. And I have also erased everything in the stock recovery.
It sounds like a simple issue but its not being resolved! I thought about just putting on cm11 or something but not sure if that would fix it considering these problems persist. Even with a different gmail account on it.

Anyone else's Note push apps from Samsung through?

The other day I woke up to my phone having a Samsung notification saying Fitness With Gear successfully updated. I've never had that app to begin with so how can it get updated?! Anyways I ignored it since the Samsung app store didn't give me an option to uninstall it and just let it be. Well just now I noticed my lookout was being weird scanning new stuff I never heard of and found it installed 4 more apps called Gear Fit Manager, Gear Fit Installer, Samsung Billing and WeatherProvider. Any clues guys?

Never seen that Ray, do you have a Gear watch? Maybe with syncing them together it automatically installed them?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk
No I don't have one. The description on those apps say they're for the the new watches that aren't out yet. Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit.. I got the Fitness With Gear pushed to my phone by the Samsung App store than it began installing other Samsung stuff. But that GearFitInstaller keeps updating itself every half hour for no reason. I always catch my lookout going off scanning it saying it's safe.

Yes almost everyone who has opened the Samsung app store has got pushed the gear manager and most those apps. They don't even know it. It's not in app drawer. Go to settings -application manager- all apps and you will see the apps

I didn't open the Samsung app store but I did have it set up to auto update my apps when on Wi-Fi. Didn't think they will have the nerve to push stuff that's not installed as an update. Also you can find two of them on your app drawer. Fitness With Gear and Gear Fit Manager.

The same thing is happening to my Galaxy S4. I tried uninstalling the GearFitInstaller, but it just keeps reinstalling. Now I've turned off "Auto update apps" in the Samsung Apps store. Hopefully that will get rid of this nuisance.

That's exactly what you have to do as well as the following: Go into your phone settings-applications and find the apps you want gone. First you must uninstall the updates for the app then clear cache/data... then uninstall the app. Reapeat this for any app you don't want. And then make sure you go into Samsung Apps and set it to NOT automatically install updates. Done.
