You have an older model for metro. You should be using the sprint forums for assitance. Its highly doubtful anything you get from here will work very well if at all.

Question about flashing and backup...

Hey guys,
I'm new to galaxy Note II. I was wondering if I could get a firmware with blue icons and without any AT&T crapware. Maybe a 4.2 version if possible. What is the best clean firmware which is closest to the generic android with blue icons. I prefer no mods or change in icons. On-buttons would be nice though.
Also how can I backup this rom completely so I can go back to the AT&T's firmware when I'm done with my contract. Any help would be appreciated .
Thank you,
SnowTauren
questions go in Q&A, not in general...
your questions sound like you dont really know anything about Android or this phone, so I would STRONGLY advise you dont flash anything, until you do ALOT more reading...do you know how to root? do you know what a nandroid is? Do you know how to restore a backup? Do you know how to tell what version of Android you are on? Do you know the actual model number of this phone?
If you cant answer every one of those questions, dont even TRY to do anything to your phone until you do..
I'm sorry I made this post in the wrong section. And yes I've been rooting and changing firmwares for my Sony Xperia X10i. However, I also had it's original firmware with me. So whenever I messed up I was able to flash back to factory defaults.
But i'm new to Note II, I don't know if anything is different on this phone. I know my phone is N7100. I'm pretty much good with computers and phones . Just new to this phone.
Anyway my question was which firmware is the best and closest to generic and what can I use to backup my Note II.
Thanks
you are in the wrong thread for a 7100..this thread is for the ATT version, I317....

My bad, like I said I'm new to the Note II. Anyway i have the AT&T version which is I317.
I'm also running the ATT version. Stock isn't so bad as long as you never update the branded apps.
I strongly recommend that you run stock before going on a flash bend. Other phones NEED to be flashed, but this beauty doesn't really need it.

Pretty much *all* of the roms in this forum are for the at&t variant, and almost all of them are 4.1.2 and 4.2.2. If yours is a SGH-i747, these roms will work on your phone, you just need to go into Settings->More/Mobile Networks->Access Point Names and write down your *working* APN settings to replace the APN settings that come with these roms.

If you can't find it it's because you didn't look properly or didn't go through the trouble of reading any of the search results...
If you were not able of finding a compatible ROM for your device even though you posted on the forum where many of them are, I would say you're not ready to flash custom ROMs on your device. You will most probably run into issues at some point and the ability of searching and finding solutions is a must when doing this type of thing... Don't expect people to help you much when the answer to your problems is right under your nose...

There are several 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 "stock" Touchwiz ROMs ported from T-Mobile, Verizon or our bordering countries (Canada/Mexico) that are for At&t in the development section. There is even a stock At&t 4.1.1 ROM there. There are even more "stock Android" 4.2.2 ROMs in the developer and original developer section.... Just browse and you'll find them.
If you don't know what you're doing, you may not want to flash one though?? If you do, MAKE SURE it's for your phone, I've hard bricked an S3 already flashing an incompatible ROM.
There is at least one post with a link to download the stock JB 4.1.2 update file, TC is either to dumb to find it, or is lazy and wants someone to post a link for them.

[Q] No Signal After Flash (DETAILED QUESTION)

Okay first of all I would just like to say I am new to this forum and I am still getting use to the rules of posting so if this is in the wrong section I do apologise and If you could be as kind to send me the link to where I should be that will be great.
Okay so flashed my Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) - International version, I understand there should be an International forum for posting. Hopefully I am in the right place. Since flashing everything was fine until I tried a few newer versions of the rom and my signal went to nothing.
The Rom I was using was CM 10.1 Nightly, since then I have tried a number of different Roms and Modems flashed via Odin (Including stock roms) with no luck. After researching I come to notice a few things including my IMEI number is wrong, it is a 16 digit string.
After doing further research on the forums I have come to understand certain firmware can alter the file type of the EFS Folder?? In response only MG4 Type roms and modems can read the EFS and restore the IMEI number? Perhaps I have being misinformed.
On the off chance that this could restore my signal I have download a MG4 Stock rom and modem I am ready to flash, But this time I shall learn from my mistakes and wait until I get some answers before digging myself an even greater hole.
If there is an easier way please help
I know this was my own fault for rushing into things, I have learnt my lesson!
Thanks Guys

Ask here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1563
Also, if you're gonna flash CyanogenMod 4.3 this is it I believe for your device. Best of luck.

Indeed he did, and once again I apologise thank you for the link, if I run into anymore trouble I will post to the correct section. I am glad to inform you I have solved the issue. It turns out I installed a bad modem which actually changes the file type of type of the efs folder. Causing roms to not reading it properly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377731
I fixed the issue by installing a stock firmware found on this post...
http://50.23.216.69-static.reverse.softlayer.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
This firmware carries a modem file which can read the modified efs folder, and in result restoring my IMEI Number and signal even after I flashed the rom to CM 10.1.
I hope some one else can stumble on to this and it helps them, please be aware though I have an intervention Galaxy s3 and this may not work in the states or other parts of the world.
Once again really sorry about posting in the wrong forums, i will try not let it happen again in the future!

N7105 can use all AT&T Roms?

Hi there,
Sorry for this quick post without fully checking all the forum posts on my phone, but I just want to guarantee one thing.
I have an N7105. Is it true I can use any of the AT&T roms on this forum and flash the modem afterwards through CWM to make it work? Because the N7105 forums are very dated and my main ROM (CleanROM 4.9) moved over to this forum, so I was wondering if I could use these other ROMs from this forum as well.
Much help appreciated,
Nicholas

Yes just flash a kernel and modem for you own device afterwards.. Modem may not even be necessary (as most roms do not include a modem), so just the csc files for your carrier
I have flashed a few n7105 roms (moonrom, etc..)

[Q] 4.1.1 to 4.3 KNOXless and hotspot

I was going to ask these questions in Dev Forum Thread for Knoxless but I'm new here...
I have a Samsung S3 on AT&T that I rooted some time ago but stopped there and am still running stock. Anyway, I'd like to know if I update to 4.3 KNOXless do I need to prep the phone any differently or just follow the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504903 ? I'm fairly new to this and am trying to get caught up on everything and make sure I'm not going to brick the phone due to my ignorance.
One other question, I use the tethering/hotspot feature a decent amount and have noticed some ROMs/FW state they don't work with it. Is this the case with the stock KNOXless 4.3? I read through a lot of that thread but didn't see a clear answer on this. Also, let me know if there are other options I should consider.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Thanks so much for the help on this. Do you know if there is any concern on my other question coming from 4.1.1? I just want to make sure I'm following the instructions correctly. Thanks again.
