Question in subject line. I have a Maverick OS x computer. I've searched the net and the solutions I find are not for our tablet. I tried some solutions that were for other tablets but that was fruitless :*(

I haven't tried it, but this might work for you: https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_mondrianwifi.
I use Bootcamp and Windows 7 on my mac. Not the cheapest way but a lot easier for rooting. Also lots of side benefits to having Windows available as well.
Hope this helps.
I ended up just installing a virtual machine.

Are you able to root using a virtual machine? It's been several years since I tried and had a lot of problems with using them. That's why I went the Bootcamp route.

Yup. It ran like a normal windows install. I just odined root and TWRP. I ran VMware fusion 6.03 standard with Windows 7 Pro and all the latest updates. The only thing I had to change was, on the virtual machine, configure the USB ports to run in 2.0 mode.

Marcusant: I've been trying to get Heimdall working on my MBP for months... do I need more than the front-end app? I'm running 10.5.9 (snowlep)
I've even tried the "wine-wrap" Odin, and Odin 1.6 & 1.85 on parralells. nogo.
sad day bros.. even tho i got the new 1.3.2 version that supposedly works, alas, it still does not detect the device in DL mode.. am i missing something here?
I had the same problem the other day. Sandybridge MacBook running lion with latest heimdall wouldn't recognize the phone. So I reboot to fedora 16 x64, still isn't recognized. Then I pulled the battery and rebooted to download mode again and it worked.
Strangely, every time I plugged it in to os x, the whole computer would lock up for 15 seconds.

Yeah, I was so quick to root I didn't even look, I just started follow the instructions. And it was rooted. Quickly. Quicker than I've ever done with Odin. So it absolutely works for the i317. But loading custom ROMs is a different story, considering most are tied to their carrier. I was using a T-Mobile ROM until I went back to stock AT&T Rom. It was horrible.
easy as pie
I can confirm the guide linked above works flawlessly. I just rooted my phone and my fiance's in about 10 minutes, including download and file transfer time. Highly recommend.

Hey all,
My galaxy note 2 will not connect to my computer (Mac, mountain lion) at all.
Everytime I try I get the message from Android File Transfer saying "Could not connect device" "Try reconnecting or restarting device".
I have done this so many times but still won't work. The kies software does not work either.
Any advice or help would be appreciated. I should say though that when I first got the phone i was able to connect it to my computer. However, after I unlocked the sim that's when it stopped being able to connect. Not sure if this is related or not.
thanks!

i'm thinking about buying a macbook air. and i want to know if i'll face issues with trying to connect my S3 to it via USB. i got ICS on it. if anyone here had issues trying to connect it to their s3 or found a solution in case i cant connect, please let me know. i want to connect via USB not wifi.. if its not possible to connect, then i wont buy a mac.
Airdroid works perfectly for me (I'm on Lion).
Boot camp.

Lol everyone is just confused! MTP doesn't play nice with MAC but Google has their own software to read mtp on Macs. I've used it nicely with the nexus 4 on a Macbook pro
If you want to root and have software on the computer. Well you'll need to buy windows 7/8 and run it boot camp as Macs are not really Android hacking friendly

You can boot into XP when the MBA is booting up (White screen before the apple logo shows up) by holding the Options key.
I don't have an answer to your other questions.

Try these settings
network.proxy.http 127.0.0.1

I'd have to strongly disagree with that - then again, I'm a serious Linux freak with well over a decade in systems engineering and won't use a device that I can't root.
There are those that tame their devices and those that are tamed by them - don't fall into the latter category!
