Hi, when we got a new 4.2 kernel with KK update, does it mean that it will be possible to make KK custom roms with 4.2 kernel or does it need the kernel sources to be released?

Not at the moment.
If it is adopted, you will probably see Dhacker29 tweet about it. I'd follow him.

FW="FirmWare"
Somewhere in the forums is a copy of the official 4.4.2 files that you can flash with RSDLite. {search box!}
Once you've updated to 4.4.2 using the official release you can then Fastboot flash your TWRP/CWM and start life a-new with KitKat Roms. **MAKE SURE that you get a version of TWRP/CWM that is compatible with the new Kernel and OS. Kit Kat requires a different recovery.
As a side note, due to the changes in Recovery systems for KitKat I have found that sometimes during the big update flash it gets weird and may give you an error. If that happens ... flash a second time.

It says that it's a legacy device on the cyanogenmod website, but FXP are still doing new builds..
No longer ACTIVELY supported;
CM for out phones is made by the FXP team. The moment they make a stable release it will be on get.cm
But they cant make stable releases until Sony releases the JB software drivers.
Also, there are no more CM9 builds because the one that's out now is perfect as it is...
Therefore, no need to make a gazillion nightlies and even more stable versions. One is enough, as long as it's stable.
EDIT: when Sony releases stock JB, the FXP guys can get the drivers needed and the phone will again be supported.
My sister has a SGH-T989 with Android 4.0.3 rooted. She want to install a custom rom, so i searched in the development forum but almost all the roms topics said that the rom is for Android 4.1.2. I tried to update her phone using kies but it didn't find any android update. So my question is, how do i upgrade her phone's android version from 4.0.3 to 4.1.2 so i can install a custom rom? i'ts necesary or i just can install that roms in the 4.0.3 phone?
PD: What rom (stable) do you recomend?
Thanks, and sorry for my english.
You can just instal a jellybean rom it has what it needs to run. And personally i like the unofficial slimbean but you just have to find whats best for you

Try k2wl's kernel...
That is amazing kernel..
I have used xenon's kernel too..but in my case..it gave me random reboots after a fix time later..
Though it was amazing..
I would better suggest u do conaider underclocking while not in use or third party apps for it..(i know that's not what u askd for)..

Why do you still run 4.4.1? Are you using an older version of CM11? I suggest updating your ROM first, then install k2wl's kernel.
The correct k2wl's kernel for Kitkat is called "evolution kernel" look for its thread in the debelopment section.

Thanks for the rom, i love to see roms for my xperia s. Its still capable and people like you can help to keep it alive. Thank you very much
just flash the rom ,, so far so good
but i have strange problem ,, every time i reboot the phone i have to get over the setup guid again and every thing from the beggining !!
Make a clean installation and make sure you are on a .96 ROM before you flash this. I have been using this ROM for a week now and I never faced this issue...
running for 3 days, no problems whatsoever !
only question is with the led, instead of lighting up and flashing, it remains lighten up... could this drain battery ? Don't think I notice any fast consumption, but...
Good Job !!! Thanks !!!
This bug is present in all aosp(-derived) ROMs for LB. I will try to fix it when I find the time

will we (xperia S) get a 4.4 Kang rom?
No, not from me. I have built enough ROMs for the Sony Xperia S that I have to maintain and I'd say it's better to do this properly rather than "flooding" the development section with ROMs.

OK, can you explain why you choose a 4.1 rom, instead of 4.4?
(i'm currently on a smooth 4.2, but am curious)
Because this ROM is mainly for devices (like mine) with locked bootloaders and 4.2+ is not possible with LB. Oh and btw, there you have another reason: I can't test ROMs above 4.1 and OmniROM is really an exception.
Oh man its so nice of you to make aokp and cm work on LB for people who cant unlock theirs..i had this device but moved on..but yust had to say thanx cause i was so sad that it was 'impossible' to have cm&aokp with LB :thumbup:
