Hi,
The Adobe Flash Player 10.1 is 12mb & cannot be moved to the SD card.
What do you do with it?
live with it? uninstall?
Please advice,
D
Use a custom ROM that updates it in the system partition. On stock there's no choice.

thats no use ive tried everything, pushing it to /system/, dosent work, tryna cook it in my rom didnt work, so i gave up and just put up with the 8mb+ it takes up on my data partiton lol
i even tried writing an update script to flash it from recovery but i need to learn how to write them better, i can get the script to delete files but it always fails on the install bit lol
Just copying the file to the system won't work, that's why you need to use a ROM that updates it properly if you don't want to use data space.

Yeah, as I said, it's more complicated than just copying a file into system.

If you uninstall your market update to flash and install the mod for my ROM, it MAY work on yours. I can't guarantee that obviously.

Use the system flash option - not the data one, that one will remove your system installed version.

Hello Guys,
Thanks to the djrbliss and the root http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/2252248/ , I dumped the system files from the AT&T version and am uploading the original files so that someone can make a Pre-Rooted , Custom Rom , Recovery , etc . Let me know if the dump is full and enough or if i need to do something more.

When our devices are locked - does rooting them essentially unlock them? or is there some other step that is required? Same question for flashing a custom recovery - how or does - this effect the locked booterloader thing -
I tried doing a GOOGlE search to see if I could figure it ouit on my own and wasnt quite sure so - I thought I would ask - at the risk of looking like a dummy
thoughts?

yes it does...but if you install a custom ROM then it will have all the customizations which make the phone run faster and better than stock and other stuff which we cannot have with a stock rom.
custom recovery adds a step of protection by which you can install/backup roms and other stuff. and you can only install a custom recovery and rom if you have an unlocked bootloader.
How will you override the bootloader lock ?

Exactly why I am stumped atm, there's write protection on bootloader, I wonder if AT&T is the only S4 with this??? Can anyone confirm who has another S4 like i9505?
if the root method works, then you should be able to flash the recovery and custom kernel as long as the bootloader does not do signature checks (which some people have claimed to be true, will see). You will not be able to use ODIN,
but shouldn't matter.
Did it the "root" work for anyone else? I remember the kernel config allow full permissive root access, so we should be golden..

Yes , the root worked for everyone who tried. From browsing the thread , i seen that it worked for AT&T and SPRINT SG4's so someone should be able to make a custom kernel soon enough

THanks - I apprecaite the info
2.7GB...damn gurl dat bloat
Just another reminder to those still newly getting their S4's, remember the bootloader IS STILL LOCKED and your are pretty much stuck if anything happens to your phone while Rooted :/
Best bet just wait for the bootloader unlock, if you can't wait then I guess it sucks to be you XD
I don't even think it's gonna take long for the bootloader to get unlocked and I'm also willing to bet that someone from Samsung will probably end up releasing something helpful.

Rooting this device was such a breeze! And being able to do it the day after it arrived in the mail was just awesome. Thanks for the dump. I have been freezing the bloatware with Titanium Backup, didn't want to begin stripping things until a recovery was available and I could do a backup of the stock rom. I was surprised to see that I could also freeze most of the bloat through the built in Application Manager (selecting an app then tapping Disable) even before I rooted the phone.

first the dev's need to find and unlock the bootloader, we cannot say how much long that will take because it depends on the dev's and the device, i can say about 20 days to a month and after which the recovery can be done, which will be soon if we get the bootloader unlocked , then the custom roms will come out...
I followed this guide to zero out my efs partition since it became corrupted after flashing a Korean rom. My question is did my icc id stay the same or did this guide change it?
Thanks.

Did you restore a backup of your EFS? If so did you have a backup from before it was corrupted? If you flashed your backup over the corrupted it should have fixed it, there should have been no need for wiping it. But to get more attention you probably should have asked this question in that thread.
Hello I tried rooting my device using Kingo Root, well it was rooted successfully. Now, I messed up in deleting some bloatware apps from a list I saw before making a backup . Then when I click the settings>about device, it crashes. Then when I try to factory reset, the apps I uninstalled didn't came back. Please let me know what to do, I just want to make the phone the way I got it then root it.
ps: I googled and some say flash the stock room, I'm scared to flash it because I don't know the firmware version of my phone since I can't access the About device of my phone. I'm in the Philippines btw.
pps: I don't know if it might help but, I installed Kies and the fimware was the latest and it was: PDA:NC2 / PHONE:NA3 / CSC:NC2 (AFR); I don't know how to read that, no google result so far. I'm planning to download firmware from this site: //samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9082
Please help me Thank you!

Put SuperSU in your SDcard
Just Flash this recovery with Odin
Make Sure "Auto-Reboot is not ticked Because Stock Android Restores Stock Recovery
When You get "RESET" in odin
Remove the battery from the and boot to recovery directly
And then flash SuperSU

Is there other ways to backup the things you have said? I just maid a nandroid backup using Clockwork Mod.
I have another question if it's not too much to ask but, do you know how to swap the internal and external memory of this phone? I would like to know how. Thanks for your help! Especially Yousef!

You can use Partition Backup app. Nandroid backup will backup most of the main partition, but i prefer third party app which will show some unseen partition.
As for the memory thing, i believe @Yousef Mohamed have better knowledge, he even made a flashable zip for expanding the internal memory size.

Gonna try it out thanks. I'm going to do what I learned from here to my future devices Yeah, I hope Yousef does reply.
EFS is most important "recoverable" partition
Bootloader partitions are the most important because without them you can't even boot the phone ( you can't boot to download mode , recovery mode or even the OS )
So you can't recover it

Hi XDA Community,
I soft-bricked my phone, it gets stuck on fastboot even after flashing my backup. The only thing I didn't backup is my userdata partition. Does anyone have the T-mobile firmware so I can unbrick?
Thanks
MSM doesn't exist for T-Mobile yet. Did you try fastboot -w to erase all userdata?
Yes, nothing so far. However someone out there can probably dump their tmb firmware and I can use fastboot flash.
I fixed it!
Looks like the vm-bootsys file was responsible, so flashed that and good to go!
Nvm, now stuck on wiping
EDIT: It's doing the same thing again
Unfortunately, TMO MSM doesn't exist currently, and full OTAs are not available, so there is no good way to extract /system, /system_ext, /vendor, /product, and /odm from super. It sounds like you backed up everything though, so what happens if you just flash everything back?
Hey I might be able to help you dude? I pulled my tmo firmware as back up. I mean I pulled every partition and made a flashall.bat if I knew how to put it on a site or share with my drive it's 20gb.

I extracted all that even vbmeta_vendor all partitions. If you can tell me how to send it to you I will let u look over everything and I can see if it will help ppl. I used it to get my 9 pro unbricked. I got the convert to us OnePlus os in. I just can't update yet.
Yes I would very much appreciate it. @craznazn I will convert to EU as a last resort, that's what I was actually attempting in the first place! Thanks!
You can zip it using something like 7-zip and put it on anonfile, they have 20GB limit but compression makes the folder size smaller. Thanks a ton!
Or you could use gofile, unlimited storage space.

Did you get this backed up online yet by chance?
I want to flash Global myself but waiting till there is at least something to attempt to flash to fix if it breaks.
I flashed EU, am A-OK apart from maybe downgrade to L3, still working that out.
Also, you can back it up yourself using Partitions backup and restore on the Play Store. Just make sure you are rooted, otherwise it won't work.

What partitions did you backup using that app and were you able to successfully restore using that app as well? Does the BL remain unlocked after restore?

He's running an experimental MSM conversion I built, it's not public yet. It does not touch the BL unlock. The process is not stable and it's not ready for public use.
That, and it's no longer the TMO ROM, and there is no good way back w/o an official LE2127 MSM
I am gonna try to write a guide my first one if I am not breaking any rules. Anyone can tweak or down it? But like I say messing with android is trail and error. I am gonna put the. Rom I pulled and used to unbrick while y'all are waiting on the msm. To me. This is just an easy fast fix so look out for it on the guides.
I backed up everything except for userdata. Make sure you manually dd the super partition to a super.img, otherwise it stays a tar. That's the mistake I made. I'm sure I can convert it but prob not worth the hassle.
