Hi Guys,
I have a T705Y. Was wondering whether I have to flash stuff specific to the Y version (of which there doesn't appear to be much) or whether I can flash T705 stuff to it as well.
I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
D.S
Where did you get this one from? I'm not sure about flashing stuff on it because most roms and kernels are for the 705. Not sure if the 705 is compatible to the 700y. Is this also a Snapdragon or exynos?

A carrier in Australia are giving them out in a bundle at the moment, my Nexus 7 just happened to break so it seemed to work out.
No idea if it's Exynos or Snapdragon, haven't looked that far into it yet. Was simply asking the question in the hopes that somebody had a quick answer.
It's not a big deal. Some more searching suggests that CF-AutoRoot works, which would probably be enough for me to be able to uninstall / freeze a lot of the chaff on the device.
Thanks

I just got a new australian model sm- t705y. Has anyone flashed the taiwanese lollipop rom to it yet? Does it run good? Should i root before or after? I'm a newbie, thanks, Pet
Edit
I flashed the taiwanese lollipop rom with odin 3.09, it works beautiful, didn't need factory reset after, but it is specifically for the "y"-version of the sm-705. I am facing the same problem, don't know what the "y" means, except that it adds a certain bandwith for Australian 4G. I don't know if i can use stuff for normal sm- 705 or if that would cause problems. I will repost after trying, might take a while as i want to do a full backup first. If anyone has any clues regarding this issue i too would be very happy and
I too would be very very very interested in knowing this. Can't find any info on it other than a "maybe" from the Iron ROM creator.
The main reason I want it is because the Xposed framework doesn't work with current stock Samsung ROMs, yet there are no custom ROMs for the T705Y..
Has anyone taken the plunge and tried a custom T705 ROM on a T705Y??
FYI the T705Y is the Australian variant with 4G 700MHz band 28 for Aussie 4G. It has the Exynos 5 Octa 5420 (Adonis?)
..tempted to buy one with a broken screen just to try it but I don't have the money at the moment.
Sorry if double posting isn't allowed but just an update - I've tried deodexing so I can install Xposed but no luck - have gone through all the walkthroughs and troubleshooting I can find and after about 8 hrs total I've given up. I'll post back here if I get the balls to flash a T705 ROM or if I find a T705Y ROM that will allow Xposed.

Why do you need balls? It's a simple case of making a backup with twrp first which is reiterated on this forum about a million times then just flash away.
As I understand it there is still a risk of a hard brick which means you can't get back into TWRP, unless I'm mistaken?

Nope. I don't know of anyone that has hard bricked flashing stock firmware.
Just got a T705Y today....

used to have the T705 a long time back...went to the S2 T715...left that...got a great deal on T705Y practically new was sealed but sometimes wonder about those seals...anyway manufactured just in June this year...runs much better than T705 used to and guessing it is all software (has to be)..has 5.0.2 now (back then like a year back 4Q 2014 was kitkat and a horrible keyboard back then)...
checked that there is a s/w update of 212MB available not sure what that is for
in terms of the Y version...see the Sm-T235...I have that too (and had the Y version of that briefly...the Y version (also Taiwan) for the T235 there is identical to the non-Y version except for some LTE bands...same roms, recovery etc...can check the xda board tab 4 7.0..this is the LTE 235 I am referring to (now 230/231/237 differ) but Sm-t235 and 235y are basically identical. So here too, I think some frequencies are different (enabled bands but otherwise same)
by analogy I am pretty certain the 705 and 705Y have similar degree of similarity and differences like the 235 and 235y...if one can say that..just some bands on lte (235 has the 850, the 235Y has the 700 frequency for example)

Thanks ashyx but I am wanting to flash a custom ROM not stock, and for a slightly different model number. FWIW among other reasons I'm needing Xposed to turn off the magnet screen off feature which is sometimes triggered by my magnetic car cradle.
I think mac has answered my question will and confirmed what I suspected.
Thank you mac for sharing your experience :good:

Well just to let you know I have flashed countless custom roms on my t805. For quite a while I was using a custom t805y rom which ran very well with no issues. I also think there is a t705y version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3127127
I now use PhoeniX ROM.
Pretty much any rom can run on these devices regardless of region.
The only thing is you may need to restore or flash the boot.img and modem for your particular device if you encounter issues.
I have only ever had to restore the modem.
Well i flashed t705 recovery yesterday and chaimsaw
Latest su2.62 that also works on t235 5.1.1...xposed running too

I have tried flashing SM-T705 rom onto my 705y model and it seems to work just fine. I used Odin to flash twrp then used twrp to install Lineage os 14.1 and the gapps ARM 7.1 FULL (a thread said only full version seems to work without errors I have not checked it).
ROM: [ROM][7.1.1][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 14.1 - SM-T705
you will find the link to the rom there

I am currently attempting to do the same. I will let you know if and when I find the answer or brick my phone!

I hope you don't, but do you think a new os like 5.0 or even 5.1.1 gives new modems?
Ok, so far it looks very hopeful and possible for us to do this and not brick our phones. If it it's a complete flash (ROM, binary radio band/modem, and base kernel) then yes. I have found that a number of ROMs do in fact have all three and it does work. The 4.4.2 or the 4.4.4 will in deed cause an OTA to Lollipop.
Go here first, gives you all the info you need to get'er done

Oh, btw, just a suggestion for you to keep your info safe, un-root when you have tested and are happy.
Good luck

There is no lollipop OTA on this device and it already supports the 2100 band I thought
Correct, the radio/modem does, however most of the bands we need are software locked. I have looked through a few of the forums covering how to modify our NV items, yet it seems to be a loose not to flash a new, stable ROM.
CM 12.1 (release, not the nightly) is a 5.1 lollipop ROM that I am trying to find out if is a full flash with everything we need. I'm not able to post the link, but it is easily googled.
I am awaiting a reply.

As far as I know you have to be on a stock based ROM to modify the NV items, at least I've only had success on stock since the modifications required using the hidden dialer menu
I finally received an answer on the modem/radio and it is No. That is an optional item they do not mess with and was also recommend we don't attempt to alter. xBkKx you may be correct considering they (CWM) did not state either stock or not. Secondly, I have also found in the near future, Tmo plans to change frequencies again due to the good levels of penetration achieved at 700mhz. Now, I must again find the chip set specs for the radio to see if we are able to achieve 700mhz.
Oh btw xBkKx, I did verify you are correct there is not an OTA for our phones. Turns out it is accomplished by batch, not OS. And the Note2 idea for an update was killed along time ago, just wishful thinking of others. Meant to mention that fact earlier.
I also have been trying to find info as to how "correctly" alter, modify the NV items for the radio do we can switch on more bands, yet it appears illusive. Does the SIM control these bands from being used? Does the firmware? Or both? !!! I can't seem to locate this info reliably. Might need to start a different thread just to answer these questions, but I am still hopeful and busy looking.......
I don't really know for your problems as all mine were cause I'm using an ATT Note 2 with T-Mobile. My SIM card did prevent me from getting LTE on T-Mobile for awhile though but it's a glitch apparently.
ATT aws mod - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068041
Note 2 preventing LTE - http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2-att/general/want-lte-korean-note-2-sgh-i317-t2877487
Not sure if either of those provide any additional help for your problem since you have the T889
Found this thread to be helpful from the two you listed,

We may be getting closer after all lol.
Hello XDA, I have been working on an Aosp-ish nougat rom for our beloved trltetmo. It has nearly no features yet, since it's an AOSP ROM. I'm a Nexus dev, and just recently started working on the trltetmo because I bought one. I had a marshmallow rom and kernel(but tend not to release stuff to anyone to avoid drama and the eta requests).
Downloads: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=111459
I have uploaded my work to GitHub: http://github.com/TrlteNougat
For now until I get my gpu back, you have to flash this kernel for MM bootloader support: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862667083
Known issues:
- Camera is wonky. It's going to be difficult to fix
- The phone acts like it's a dual sim phone, no usability is sacrificed, it just shows two APN settings and the carrier on Dialer
Features:
None yet, it's AOSPish
What is being worked on:
Bluetooth
Call audio (mixer_path issues)
The kernel source is up: https://github.com/TrlteNougat/kernel_samsung_trlte/commits/n7.0
Manifest located here: https://github.com/TrlteNougat/manifest
Nice! Subscribed.
Test build
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24723757092306996
This one doesn't reboot randomly. Still has ril and Bluetooth errors. Sound doesn't work. Camera does.
I m not dev. But great to see work on 7 ...cheers to all devs...hoping for a stable one soon thx again
I'm keeping my eye on this thank you

Ril is now partially working. I can send and receive texts. Calls cause a soft reboot, but shouldn't be hard to fix. Still no data connection yet, but that'll be fixed soon enough. Wifi connects but doesn't access internet for some reason. I haven't looked into that any.
Because why not
improper bootloader and in some cases modem can cause Wi-Fi to behave similar to how you have described. I'm not a TMO user but I think there should be several versions newer than OK2
if you have any desire to return to 5.1.1 or keep the option open to do it in the future, you may want to steer clear of the newest 2 or so bootloaders as they may prohibit further downgrading. if TMO is anything like Sprint, anything PE2 and older should still permit downgrades. newer versions I have not tested or seen any info on the topic.
[QRCODE][/QRCODE]ok I did a quick check and you are in fact on a 5.1.1 modem. I don't know if you've updated your bootloader but I get the feeling you would know if you have or not lol
all TMO MM firmware is newer than the Sprint firmwares (PB5, PC1, PD1, PE1, PE2) that I know to not prohibit downgrades, so you're on your own there.
if you believe the test builds to be compatible with the Sprint model, I'd be happy to help test as time allows for it

910T can be downgradable to DOK2 but not below that (unless you use work around and flash 910T2 firmware, which will allow you to go to 4.4.4 BL , and still can come back to latest) but thats a different story, regardless of that , however , you can anytime switch among DOK2 to PE3 to PG2 in any order. I think android N for 910T should be tested on EPG2 and not on DOK2 , atleast should give it a try on EPG2. I think the dev @USA-RedDragon , already must have tried all bootloaders and basebands , i m just replying to above posts.

I tried EPE3 on mm but got too frustrated with the issues. So I've been weary to try it again. But you do have a point that I should try with newer bl/modem combos. I've got a mm rom compatible with epe3, so I might as well flash that. The Odin files are on my desktop staring me down
Side note, the logs point to something bring wrong wkth the code and not a bl/modem -> rom compatibility. But I could be wrong. Never hurts to try

to make it easier ,why dont you just flash EPG2 BL and CP using odin (as opposed to entire MM rom) .and see if it fixes any of the issues with current N build.

Hi,
As you probably know, p2c72 is the Chinese variant of P2a42, or the other way around. Anyway, I start this thread as I've had nearly the same experience with k3 note. I had t5 which is again the chinese variant of a40 or sth like that. However, back then if I could remember, I could install anything. Perhaps because the retailers had changed its rom to ROW, I really don't know.
So, is the change here possible? In fact I assume when we get p2 from a Chinese retailer, most probably its rom should read P2a42. If that's the case, then there shouldn't be any problem with flashing roms related to P2a42, right?
Please shed some light on this if you can. :good:
Waiting eagerly for some news as well

For outside country they change into international Rom P2a42 so your right there is no problem with related rom
I'll explain the hardware differences between p2a42 and p2c72 and really hope this will end these questions that I see in every thread.
The difference is only in the ram, storage and 3g/4g bands.

I have removed this from updater-script
Code:
getprop("ro.product.device") == "P2a42" || abort("E3004: This package is for \"P2a42\" devices; this is a \"" + getprop("ro.product.device") + "\".");
however i used System Update App then looked for my modified zip. fails at verification of the zip file.
Hi,
I'm buying a p2c72. I just wanted to confirm that the following will work after changing to the p2a42 rom?
a) I can unlock bootloader
b) I can install TWRP
c) I can install any p2a42 custom ROM (after removing the get-prop line)
Has anyone on the p2c72 had any problems rooting and flashing so far?
Asking also if I buy p2c72 (I don't need b20) can I install official European ROM on it and get automatic updates after that?
I've just received my P2C72.
1) It was updated to p2a42 by the seller so I didn't need to do anything in that regard.
2) I've just requested bootloader unlock, so I have to wait 14 days.
3) I did not need chinese phone number to request bootloader unlock.
Once I have the bootloader unlocked, I'll proceed to install TWRP, gain root, and flash a custom ROM.
I'll update here once I've done those so that future p2c72 users can benefit. You'll hear back from me in 2-3 weeks.
Update on p2c72 custom roms.
I've gotten bootloader unlock. It was quite easy.
1) I've installed TWRP 3.1.1.0. It works without any problems.
- please note that after booting into TWRP through fastboot, I realized that the stock recovery was still installed.
- if that happens for you, take an extra step of transferring the TWRP img into teh phone and installing the img using TWRP.
2) Not working: I've tried Resurrection Remix v5.8.3, Lineage OS 14.1, and AICP 12.1. All of these don't work. with RR and Lineage I only get a blank screen and the notification LED burns blue. With AICP, I get the bootscreen but it doesn't progress any further.
3)Working: Lineage OS 13.0 works.
- This may be related to the fact that I started wit ha stock marshmallow ROM. It seems only the marshmallow Lineage 13.0 is working so far.
Good luck to other p2c72 users. If you have any roms that worked for you, please update here for the others to benefit from. Thanks.

Ya.. i have the same P2c72 running on P2a42 stock MM.. upgraded to Nougat S233 and at first i was afraid that things may not work after bootloader unlocked...But with the newest TWRP 3.1.1.0 worked for me. I remember that i used another version of TWRP, and for certain none of the Roms worked.. until using the pre-official 3.1.1.0 that is official now.
Can flash whatever Rom with out problem. I'm on Stock Nougat Deodexed S233 and staying with it for a while. :good:

Thanks for the info Wmateria. That's good to know that you can flash all roms.
After messing around and flashing other roms a few times, somehow resurrection remix works for me now.
Unfortunately I'm not sure what I did to allow that to happen.
At least now there are 2 users (Wmateria and me) who can flash custom roms meant for p2a42.
I should note that I haven't changed the roms in any way (haven't removed the assert get prop line either).
I'll update again if anything else develops.

Thanks for the info Wmateria. That's good to know that you can flash all roms.

@Billytromp is also another one too. He was the one i asked about if it was safe to use the device to flash.
I've recently purchased a Lenovo p2c72. I'm entirely new to custom roms and Android Tinkering, but I really want to make my phone feel like it's not Chinese phone. I've kinda got the gist or basics on how to flash custom roms, but I have a few questions:
1. Will I be able to install future Android updates with a custom rom?
2. Will the installation be straightforward (download rom>install recovery>install rom>end)? Cos I read in the thread that you need bootloader unlock to install TWRP which I assume is a recovery app of some sort.
3. By installing a custom rom, will it include the various Google apps preinstalled in other non-Chinese phones?
Thank you.
@Wmateria. I saw @Billytromp's posts in the TWRP thread saying it went fine which gave me courage to flash TWRP. I also saw some of his posts where he got the black screen with blue LED with some ROMs. If we can gatehr a few more members and more info, maybe we can make a guide thread.
@bl00dsoaked. If you just put in a non-china sim into the phone and boot it, they say that the phone will auto download the p2a42 global rom and change it. This way you have the english version (except for band 20 for 4G) and it can also get future updates easily. Google apps should also be auto installed.
If for some reason that doesn't happen for you, there should be a way to flash the english version without unlocking bootloader or getting root. It uses adb but I've never done it myself.

Unfortunately this doesn't work. Unless there's some other tinkering I had to do other than just putting a sim in?
Sorry, what's adb?

4G you say? Like the american 4G or Europe 4G?

Do you think most of the bugs will be cleared out by the end of the year? Also, which kdz should I use if I want band 71 support?

I don't know anything about the bugs, but for b71 2 of the roms have it; US OP Pie (no Q yet) and KR OP which is Korean Open (Q version available) has b71 also.
cheers

I was thinking it might be possible to grab the modem partition from sprint or unlocked pie and write them over before installing this ROM. Would that work, or would it be incompatible?

I'm not sure, have not tried that. I've read others suggesting the same thing but don't know if they've had success with it. I'd bet it wouldn't as there are so many threads, in various model phones, about which rom supports which bands. If that problem could be resolved by simply using the modem partition from a diff rom, it happening would almost certainly be common knowledge and many threads with various modem partitions available, but there aren't.

Ended up trying it and it prevents boot to system and recovery. I replaced all 4. modemst1,modemst2,modem_a,modem_b
I think we'll have to wait for them to make Q for v405qa unlocked.
I used v405ebw with lineage 18. VoLTE and VoWiFi aren't supported, which basically makes Mint Mobile unusable except for data.

I'd suggest another option, as 405qa Q arrival is ???, use the korean open 30e. That's what I have. One mod makes it quite workable; copy the US Open /OP partition (from Pie) and use it instead of the KR Open partition. Everything works, including vowifi and volte. And it does get b71. There's only 1 other small change needed to get vowifi to work.
It's very solid and haven't had any trouble with it at all. Something to consider.
I just found out that a great deal of work can be done with Cellular Support via the Qualcomm PDC tool.

Can you link the Korean open download? Also, what is the small change for VoWiFi?
Yes it's on this link. It's at the top of the list, the KR Open, 30e is the last one in the beginning section.
The other change is minor, have to enter the service menu with the dial code and it's one of the SVC (iirc) fields you have to enable vowifi. I can find it if you decide to do it.
There's a little 'trick' u need to do when cross flashing, to avoid the 'NT_Error' thing when u first boot up. It doesn't cause a problem, it's just annoying. Just after doing a partition DL of the rom, let it boot of course, to finish. Then shut it off, don't touch anything. Then use LG up and do a refurbish with same rom. No more nt-error code thing.
Also, even though the firmware page (above) doesn't indicate it, that rom does have b71. I have a screen shot of the phone using lte discovery connected to b71 on that rom. It's there.

I'm trying to boot TWRP. When I run
Code:
fastboot boot judypn_TWRP_bootable-metadata.img
it reads out this:
Code:
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.942s]
booting...
FAILED (remote: unknown command)
finished. total time: 0.946s
This is after flashing the Korean Open version. I'm not sure what to do. I made sure USB Debugging was on and changed the driver to the official LGE one, but no luck.
I tried everything on google. Still no luck.

You should get fastboot working via 9008 guide (I suggest not to wipe lafs on both slots), then fastboot TWRP.

If you install this apk (only on los), it will allow you to switch to the other side and reboot recovery. It's hard coded (I changed the original file) to boot to recovery after you select the other slot. Did it for the exact situation you're experiencing.
cheers

Hello forum!
I have LG LM-V405QA and would like to have a ROM flashed that removes all Google everything. I have flashed ROMs in the past, but have already spent too much time researching with no results. I am in California, USA.
This is a serious inquiry. Please help.
Thank you.
