[Q] Problems with SEMC flash drivers ACRO S - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

Well Hello everyone! i'm new to the site, but always being following a few post, so i'll give as much details as possible so you know what is happening let's get to it then.
PS: I have already rooted a device my ARC S and it was in the first try, i say this just to you guys know i have an idea of how easy the process should be.
I have an Acro S LT26W
6.2.b.1.96
Flashtool (downloaded from the youtube link below) version 9.11 for windows
The unknow sources are ON, and all the options i need for the phone to work with the rooting process
I use windows XP
i'm trying to root the device, i installed the flashtool and its drivers, the sony programs, both of them, the sony companion found the phone, the update service program, well when i do the turn off the phone and doing the flash mode steps, the computer freezes and the phone is never found...
I made the steps here www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSsZ7pAJcew the ones of checking the drivers, the flash tool found the phone on debugging mode (the phone is on)(when i did this it installed abd or something like that driver) but, when i finally load the kernel 211 and prepare the phone to flash mode (turn off the phone, press the volumen down botton, hold and connect the usb) the computer says the semc driver is not properlly installed then i have to reset the computer because it freezes just like the update service.... what might be happening in here? i installed the ACRO S for ICS driver, the fastboot and the flashtool driver (the last two options in the flashtool drivers pack) but the problem is still there...
i have the kernel of this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2418991 and i follow the steps of this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417672 (pretty sad i even get to 3rd step)
Question... (yes another one)
When i connected the phone to the pc to check if the flashtool driver was properlly instaled (debugging mode on) the icon of "root device" appeared, is there something we can do with it? i mean, maybe another way to root the phone? i spent the last 6 hours reading and trying but nothing worked and it's so easy to root a device if you have the proper tools.. i hope you can help me, its driving me crazy omg...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well i have good news and i want to ask you guys to check for this "way to root" because it was pretty stupid because of the easy it is.... ok
Now after i couldn't root the phone the way it is posted here, i was looking at you-tube and found a Spanish video about rooting the device, so i decided to give it a try, and wtf, it worked...
Now the steps are these... the video said that IT'LL WORK FOR ANY XPERIA JELLY BEAM DEVICES
(for installing the ROOT program, turn off your anti virus)
1- Go here www.mgyun.com/vroot download the Chinese rooting program and install it. NO NEED TO KNOW CHINESE FOR THIS.
2- Plug the USB cable to your pc
3- Prepare the phone, debugging mode ON
4- Open the rooting program and plug your phone to the pc with the USB cable
5- Wait until the program do its work and don't touch your phone.
6- Once your phone is done, it'll be automatically restarted and it be rooted
7- check the root with "root checker" or other you like
8- Done.
If you want to delete the Chinese root program in your phone follow the next steps.
1- Download SUPER SU program in your phone
2- Grant SUPER SU program root permissions and update the binary plus select NORMAL mode
3- SUPER SU program will find that there's another root program and it'll ask you witch program do you want to use, select SUPER SU and the chinese program will be deleted.
THAT'S ALL....
PD: Ok, now all that was in spanish i just translate it the best i could, this is the video link if someone wants to see it www.youtube.com/watch?v=raIR4ms6xds&list=PLmMm_rKgxjOpQ58IHzbbp1wgCVoSde692&index=2 again, would like to ask for someone to check this and share the way to root the phones if it is 100% safe and no tricks under the table.

I think this is the only way to root acro s in .96 firmware. Rooting is actually very easy if you are familiar with it and it will take around 10minutes to get it done Since you are using .96 firmware, here are the actual steps for rooting your acro s (yes, i have simplified making it more easier to read)
1. install sony pc companion(for the your device drivers of course), fastboot and flash mode drivers
2. flash the .200 or .211 kernel (because the doomlord toolkit only support rooting on acro s with .200 and .211 kernel, the latest .96 did not included, so we need to downgrade the kernel for rooting)
3. root the device using the toolkit
4.flash back the .96 kernel
5.done
Before start, you will need to prepare these things
1. usb cable
2. rooting toolkit(credits to DooMLoRD) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327473 (download the latest v17)
3. .211 kernel and .96 kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2418991
4. flashtool
If you done preparing all the files, lets get it started (with detail steps)
1. install sony pc companion http://www.sonymobile.com/my/tools/pc-companion/
2. After installing, plug in your phone, drivers should automatically install after that
3. Install the fastboot and flash mode drivers from the flashtool folder
4. After done all these steps, your device should be properly detected by your computer
The next part is flashing kernel(make sure sony pc companion is not running in background as it may interfere the flashing process)
1. extract both the kernel just now you downloaded to the firmware folder in flashtool
2. run the flashtool
3. click the thunder icon and choose flash mode
4. choose .211 kernel from the list and click flash (ignore the selections beside the list)
5. wait for awhile and a window should pop out to tell you plug in your device
6. now power off your phone, plug in your phone while pressing volume down button, release the button when green led appears
7. your device now will connect in flash mod and start flashing kernel
8. once it is done, it should tell you to reboot your device
9. now your device should running .211 kernel
Now you can root your device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327473 steps are provided in the thread:laugh:
After rooting, you will see supersu or superuser in your apps drawer
Now you have successfully rooting, now what you do is revert the kernel back to .96, steps are same as above and make sure to choose .96 kernel in flashtool
Hope this will help you in your problem

R800i Issues with USB Driver and Bootloader!

Hi Guys,
Any help would be great! i do have google talk if anyone is willing to help me out!
My R800i Is rooted and has a version of recovery but not sure which version, i am wanting to update my phone with a better kernel and rom since the current one i have installed is giving me issues ( not being able to receive incoming calls for example )
Another problem is i reformatted the phone since i was having issues with receiving calls but now when i connect my phone to ANY computer via the USB cable the computer trys to install MTP or MSC driver ( depends on which connection type i select ) the Installer fails and i cant even take any files off my phone.
Provided details below. i want to somehow get into the current bootloader and install the ROM thats on my SD card! i do have flashtool installed and Android tool SDK installed but still no success in phone wanting to talk to my laptop.
I am running windows 7 64 bit. i am starting to think the phone is belond repair since i cant get any software to work between the phone and computer.
does anyone know what buttons i need to push on the Xperia Play to enter into the boot loader, i have tried pressing the back button and search button on phone boot but nothing happens apart from the phone starts up normally.
would a factory reset delete the boot loader and other config-ed software off the phone is this why i cant enter the boot loader or am i not pressing the right buttons on boot.
Any help would be really appreciated!

If you want to change the kernel you must unlock your bootloader. If your Xperia Play is a SIM free one, you can do it for free in this link: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com
For SIM locked devices I think you must find another ways to do it. There are some online sites that unlock bootloader to SIM locked devices for a fee.
Once you have unlocked your bootloader, turn off the phone, hold on the search button, plug the USB cable in the computer, release the search button (power button LED will be blue) and install this driver: http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/Google-USB-Driver-Revision4-Download-139077.html
Now you are ready to flash any kernel you want with Flashtool or any other app.
Thanks for the information, i have already done this, i payed £25 for a guy on this forum to unlock my phone to any network. i'll give this a try and get back to you, problem is the phone doesn't like to talk to my laptop via USB cable keeps on failing to install the drivers..
Thanks for quick response.

I have tried what you said but having problems with connecting my phone to my Windows 7 Laptop!
Check your device manager. The fastest way to open it is running this command: devmgmt.msc
There must be some kind of Android device while your phone is connected in fastboot mode. If you see it, update its driver with the Google USB driver v4 pointing at the folder path with the uncompressed files.

Hi I tried what you said, i Turned off my phone and holded the search button and turned it back on, the light went blue and the computer popped up trying to install fast boot i point to the SDK folder to update the driver but it fails.
do you have google talk might be easier on there to talk! cheers!
I'm not using gtalk atm. Sorry.
Be sure the driver you downloaded is named usb_driver_rev4.zip: http://drivers.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=139077&t=4&i=1
If Windows doesn't detects any driver in that uncompressed folder, you can choose to select the device from a list, point to that folder and force to install the driver. It's named something like Android ADB Interface.

Thanks for the download link, i going to try this in a bit and get back to you! thanks for the support guys! :good:
Just tried, i put my phone into Media Transfer Mode.. my computer tried to install the MTP usb device and i directed the installation to the driver you linked..
Update Driver Software says: the best driver software for your device is already installed MTP USB DEVICE, there is a small yellow triangle on the icon and in MTP USB Device Properties it says: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
i need someone to Teamviewer with me, for the record i don't have the Sony Ericsson software installed on my Computer because that still wont install the drivers for my phone, i also know its not needed for installing new kernel and roms.
i tried connecting this phone to a bunch of pcs including my friends and it still fails to install any drivers!!! i think i am just going to bin this phone! i have had enough (
You must install that driver when you plug the phone in fastboot mode. It shouldn't work in any other case. In other words, when you plug your Xperia Play being powered on and Android is running it needs one driver, and when you boot it in fastboot mode you need other driver.
Please, install the driver following the steps previously posted with your phone in fastboot mode (blue LED).
Hello, i put my phone into fastboot mode, my device manager shows 1 device not installed S1Boot Fastboot, i right click go to properties and click update driver...
then i browse my computer for driver software i point the location to usb_driver_rev4\usb_driver and it says: Windows was unable to install your s1Boot fastboot!
Ok, let's see...
Try to update the driver using the "choose from a list" option to force the installation, point to the driver folder and select "Android ADB Interface" from the list. If Windows shows a warning message don't worry about it and go ahead.
i tryed this and its not wanting to work (
Sorry to hear that because I don't have any more ideas for your problem.
Maybe you may spend some minutes searching in the forum to find some detail that can help you.
i need someone with teamviewer to help me go though the setup process again, if anyone is willing to get my phone working i will happy pay them some money!
Thanks Jcarbox for all your support!
Regards
Paul
I just check the Windows device manager with my phone plugged in bootloader mode and it appears as Android Bootloader Interface, so this is the device you must choose from the list when you install the driver.
Hope this helps you.
thanks for the help, to bad my phone isnt having any of it.. just going to buy another phone (
This may work

hi PsychoShaft,
I had similar problems. I don't know how to fix it permanently. but i do this to make it work for some time.First, download flashtool and install it.Open your device manager and select view->show hidden drivers. Then, delete all your drivers related to xperia play. like the adb interface, semc flash ,etc. All of them in all categories. then reboot your computer into safe mode with administrator and connect your device with flashtool running in your windows in safe mode. then the flashtool will indicate that you don't have the drivers. then, open the drivers folder in flashtool and use the setup to install arc-play-...,flashmode drivers and fastboot mode drivers.then after the installation is over windows will ask you to reboot.now reboot with your mobile connected. after boot windows will automatically install the drivers. then unplug your phone and turn off it and connect in flash/fastboot mode.it will automatically install drivers.wait for windows to say drivers installed successfully or installation failed. don't unplug it in the middle of the process then you will have to start from first.sometimes it will not work in the first time ,then reboot into safe mode and try again installing the drivers and rebooting into safe mode itself and connecting your device.at one point of time flashtool will say your device is connected in flas/fastboot mode.then continue with flashing
Gladwin.
Thanks for the support guys i managed to solve the issue!

[Q] [PROBLEM]Updating Android with Flashtool

Hi.I wanted to update my Xperia S to android 4.0 with PC Companion, but i had problem with 'Preparing mobilephone for installation' where you had to press volume down button while plugging it to my PC.I did ale the stages but nothing happened. So I tried to do it with Flashtool.I click 'Flash' and follow instruction included in thread about Flashtool and using it with my Xperia S.I have .ftf file with Android ICS.So, i click flash,I get to part witch holding down Volume button while plugging in my device, and thats what i get:
Code:
ERROR-(X10flash,java:374) -
ERROR-(X10flash,java:374) - Error Flashing. Aborted
So, what have I done wrong ?
Just make sure u have the latest version of flashtool and Xperia drivers installed.

Just install SUS and PCC for drivers
boyheadkick™
Sent from my Xperia Acro S using Tapatalk
Or confirm your system. Is it a 64Bit or 32Bit OS, then use proparity Flashtool.
while you'll find all this info littered around the forum; i'll try to run down the exact order to install stuff...at least the order that worked for me...as flashtool, and your phone, seem to fight windows pretty hard at points...
this is all assuming a fresh start...uninstall the device, flashtool, etc if you have to: also this is for an Ion, but it works pretty much the same i'm assuming.
phone ON, MTP connectivity selected; connect to PC with usb cable. Don't touch anything at first. Windows should find and recognize both the internal and external flash drives of the phone (depending on device), and install necessary drivers. If you're using flashtool, i'd suggest not even bothering with the installation of PC companion. PCC will fight flashtool in some cases when connecting the phone, so if you do install it be sure and turn it off when connecting with flashtool.
Set all your autoplay settings to 'do nothing' or 'take no action' when prompted. This too will help prevent windows from trying to do multiple things when you connect with flashtool running.
now unplug the phone, turn it OFF...while holding the phone volume button DOWN...reconnect the usb cable and continue holding the button. This is where i get different results depending on what machine i'm using. My home computer gives a prompt for new hardware which eventually turns into 'SEMC flash driver installed'. My work computer prompted 'S1 Boot Driver installed'...in either case...flashtool would NEVER work right until one of these showed up...and in my case, trying to get this driver to install with flashtool running simply wasn't happening.
if that works, move on...you may have to keep trying that a few times, though. If the green LED light on the phone immediately turns off and the phone attempts to charge, you'll probably have to try again. For whatever reason windows doesn't always react the same, so it takes some patience.
Next install flashtool like normal. After that, find the usb_drivers.exe and run it. Regardless of phone, i just installed everything listed (even though, for my Ion, not one of them specifically says xperia Ion or LT28...)
after that...reboot computer
Now you should be good to go. I run AVG free on both machines, and it never seemed to fight flashtool, but some have said some anti-virus software will interfere...
load up flashtool, select your firmware (i'm assuming you've read how to do all that)...select what you want to do...connect phone with volume down pressed...hold until the flashing starts...and you should be fine.

[Help] Phone Cant stay in flash mode or fastboot mode!

Dear guys!
I want to flash ftf JB file for my phone, but problem is:
I cant enter flash mode, actually, phone only stay in flash mode for a while (about 20 seconds) then it auto turn off.
Im using XZXperience 2 rom, and i have tried to install both e-lite kernel and arkama v1.7 kernel but not help!
Any advice for my problem?
PS: I installed flashtool on win8 laptop! Flashtool showed my phone connected in flash mode.
Same problem with fastboot mode!
Check that the USB port is 2.0 and not 3.0. And please post in the correct section in Q&A.
Most likely your drivers aren't installed properly (are you on Win7 x64 or Win8?). There's a trick to install them by opening the device manager (on your pc) and manually installing the drivers. I've also read that you can install the drivers along with Flashtool nowadays, there should be an option somewhere. So try that first, if that doesn't work ..
Use this method. Ignore the bit of editing drivers and go to the "lazy" method:
And if you are very lazy, you can download my "android_winusb.inf", which I attached - put it into *\Android\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver.
Once you finished that, just turn off your phone, hold the search button and connect it to your PC while still holding the search button (boot into fastboot).
Via the device-manager or the device center you can now see a device called "S1Boot Fastboot" with a warning sign - rightclick it, press on "Properties", click on the Hardware tab and then again on "Properties".
After that click on the driver tab and press on "update driver".
Choose the option to look manually for the driver and then guide to the usb_driver folder, which I mentioned above.
Now you should be able to access the fastboot-tool via PC.
Hope I could help you and I'm sorry if I made some language mistakes, but English is a foreign language for me.
Have a nice day,
Janitor

You can download the driver from the link. Oh and "search" is volume up/down (the one you're using to get into flash mode, I forget which is which ), that guide was written for Xperia Play.
If I were you, I'd just install the CWM zip DooMLorD posted though, don't use flashtool.. Although you'd need fastboot to flash the custom kernel if you want a recovery, but no flashtool.
Lastly, development is not the Q&A thread, you aren't supposed to create threads for asking questions, this will most likely get moved. Please read the forum rules before creating threads. Saying that you didn't know the rules is no excuse, that just means you didn't bother to read them and shows your lack of respect.

[A] Solved: KDZ factory flash stuck at about 15%

Hello guys,
I am so happy that I wanted to share this with you. As I still have headache from googling how to flash back your stock rom (which didn't work out because the flash tool gave an error every time at 15%), I can save you a lot of headache with this very very simple fix.
For some people the tool works just fine, but when you have some google bootloader or a newer freegee unlocked one and you want back to stock, lots of people cant follow this thread because of the error at 15%.
The fix is EASY and I found it on the Optimus L9 section, thanks to that guy on XDA.
Follow exactly Davevinci's great thread except for one thing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498102
Step 4 is now:
4.GO TO DOWNLOAD MODE POW+BOTH VOL BUTTON PRESSED+CONNECT USB
But step 4 should be:
- Boot up your phone in any stock based rom, for example SAVVY Rom V5
- Enable USB debugging and connect your phone through USB using the LG PC Suite option (make sure to kill PC suite in tast manager).
Now you should see the driver installation of LGE Android MTP device as usual and then just run the flash tool from the guide. Also de mode DIAG is now the right one. The flashtool will reboot your phone to download mode automatically when it's needed.
Still an error? Don't worry, disable virus scanner and firewall and just reconnect your phone. I got an error one time, during flashing, but I followed the steps the flashtool suggested me and now everything went fine.

You should be asking these questions on a Windows forum.
You need to right click Android 1.0 device... Update Driver (basically, tell Windows Device Manager that the driver for the "Android 1.0" device is in that folder you got there)... it will install it, and that part is done. Then reboot the device to fastboot mode and manually update the driver again (it will come up as a different, yet again unknown device, you just feed it the same driver again)
Also... for the operations you're mentioning... "root, unlock bootloader, install cwm, flash rom".... you probably won't even need ADB, just fastboot. As in, you don't need to root before all that. You root in the end. And most custom roms are already rooted too.
This is assuming there's an exploit out there that still allows for root to be achieved without unlocking the bootloader.
