Stuck on 2G - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason when my phone goes to sleep it will wake up and be stuck on edge or gprs. This seems to only happen in one particular location. I tried a different apn but this didn't fix it. I'm wondering if it's a phone issue or a network issue. This seems to be a rather new problem.

Do u have any profile application that sets your network mode based on the location you are at?
Does that particular area have 3g? Have u tried it on another phone?

[Q] 2.4 update broke 3g

I flashed 2.3.4 onto my 2.3.3 R800i and now I can no longer get 3g to work for anything other than messaging and phone calls. I've tried everything i could think of in the settings, any clue how I could fix this?
Did you put your apn settings in?

I had a problem with 3G long time ago after being abroad and using Airplane mode and/or data settings. Could not reactivate 3G for some reason and rebooting did not help but I had some on/off widget thing installed at the time and tried one of the 3G or data switches on it and it started working. Hope it helps

I spoke to a rogers agent to get the apn, thanks, wouldn't of know to do it otherwise
Right on man glad you got it worked out I went thru the same stuff when I first got my x10 it was a little frustrating but lesson learned

mine has a glitch where it switches the network it's assigned to by itself. Rogers shows up as two networks, one edge and one 3g/hspa, and I noticed if my reception is bad at a certain location it will sometimes switch to edge only, and not turn back. It's only been doing this after the update to 2.3.4
Edit/update: I figured out you can force the phone to never use edge, if you change it from wcdma preferred/gsm to only wcdma

[Q] GALAXY NEXUS network connection type confusion

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? My phone seems to get confused about if it should be connected through wifi or 3g/4g for data. For example, if I am at home and connected to my wifi, then get in the car and leave without disabling wifi, the phone acts as if it does not recognize the 3g/4g connection at all. It will just tell me I have no network connection since I am out of range of wifi. Same happens when I am connected with 3g/4g and I walk/drive by a wifi area and I do not join the network. The open app that is using data will then loose its connection and tell me there is no network connection. Simply disabling my wifi and restarting the app does not work. I often have to reboot the phone or turn off my mobile data signal and then enable it to establish a connection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have this problem also, I will have something like streaming music playing then when I am out of range of wifi it dose not go to 3g on verizon. If I don't have any thing using wifi and disable it before going out of range and starting a stream no problem, but when it happens I switch to airplane mode then back and it works fine.
Your not the only one who has this problem.

Same here. Not sure what's causing it. I have to go into airplane mode, which itself seems to take ages, and then turn off airplane mode to establish 3g connection.
I thought it may be a mess up from aokp, and after a clean wipe and flash it seemed fine, but then started showing the same behavior , failing to comnect to 3g after exiting wifi zone.
Does anyone have an answer for this problem? Is it a hardware glitch or software or app caused problem?
Any help would be dearly appreciated too!

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear it doesn't seem like a hardware problem, though I have yo admit I didn't see it on the aokp wikis ... Would you know if it's a problem for an unknown minority our a more general one?
So, I guess, then stock room should be fine? I was only on stock for a few days before flashing aokp. Going back would be a nuisance, but if I can have armless transition from wifi to 3g, then I guest I should -( ...
Any talk on when it may be solved in the aosp community?

N7100 keeps dropping network - tried multiple carriers. Faulty?

I've had my N7100 for 2 months now and ever since I received it the network will be showing full bars one minute, then completely disconnect the next (the little circle with a stroke through it symbol). It will remain disconnected until I restart the phone, at which point it will reconnect again.
This is an intermittent problem, which occurs on average about 10 time a day. Sometimes it will keep disconnect after only 5 or 10 minutes.
I have tried different sim cards, from different service providers - all have the same problem. When I put the same sim card in a different phone - no problem. So I've definitely isolated the problem to the N7100.
I've tried factory resetting the phone but this hasn't helped.
Is there anything else I should try or does this sound like a fault for which Samsung should send me a replacement device?
Which model are u using? I had the same problem when I just bought the phone.
I realized my phone which is the Lte model was searching for 4g network at times when the reception is poor and toggled to search for 4g network which caused the phone to cut the network because my phone plan only supports 3g.
Maybe try going to mobile network and select WDCMA mode only. See if helps. Otherwise its problem hardware problem

Mine is the N7100 - 3G only (not LTE) model.
Tried that, and it hasn't helped.
Has anyone else been having this kind of problem?
Did you find a solution to this problem. I am experiencing the same issue.

mobile data problem, possibly LTE related?

I'm running Paranoid Android on a rooted Galaxy Note 2 and I've run into a weird problem. My mobile data won't work -- the system menu shows it as being on, but I show no actual internet connection. Simple reboots haven't worked; the only way I've been able to resolve is by doing a full restore via TWRP.
The trigger seems to be when I go to certain locations -- like the downtown area of my city, where I'm on an LTE connection. It doesn't happen when I'm on the 3g network near my house, for instance. However, once the mobile data goes down, it won't come back no matter where I am until I restore. Anybody with a similar experience, or a suggestion? I'm at a loss.
Check APN settings to ensure that you only have one listed.. Then edit the "APN type" field and change it to this..
default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri,internet
Make sure to select menu key - save or it won't save. Then reboot phone and how does it react?

Ah! So, only one was selected (ATT) and the suggested fix didnt work. *But* I switched to "ATT LTE" (naturally) and it seems to have fixed it. Many thanks!

Serious internet issues..

Hey everyone, I've really annoying Internet connectivity issues on my onex, half of the time it's connected to the mobile network showing the "H" sign on top and the rest of the time it's showing the "3G" icon.
Now my issue is that while it's on the 3g the internet just stops - while playing it disconnects, on the browser it just loading forever, and on programs it get stuck.. while on the H everything is going fine!
I am living in Israel and worked with partner and now changed to "Pelephone" which should have the fastest/best mobile network, and it made no change. I also tried according to.an advice i got here to change my phone on settings to "wcdma only" and still no change.
Please, if anyone has any.idea about this problem and a solution i would be greatful.
Oren.
By the way i am on stock rom, rooted.
