Here is the OTA for the T-Mobile M8.feel free to rehost if needed. Pulled straight from a live phone.
Flash through stock recovery on an unrooted LOCKED phone. I say locked because some OTAs fail when they cannot access the few apps that were located in the /Data partition that gets wiped after an unlock.
I am not responsible for anything that could (but probably won't) happen to your phone after flashing this

Is there a changelog? What was added? I'm trying to figure out if it is worth going back to stock to install it.
From what I've gathered just battery enhancements,WiFi enhancements, and extreme battery saver mode.

I just attempted to flash the rom on a rooted, busyboxed, S-OFF'd phone, and I can guarantee it doesn't install. Guess i'll be reverting and then installing.
:effort:
Download stock recovery img ad flash it using the htc m8 toolkit.

Yeah...I flash HTC stock recovery. Then it update everything fine, but you need to reflash custom recovery and re rooted again.

I was able to flash the stock recovery with no problems but halfway through installing the ota it fails and I get the red exclamation error and I have to force reboot. I'm s-off, unlocked bootloader and rooted...any idea what I'm doing wrong by chance?

That's what I would have said any other time but so far I haven't removed anything or had a need to debloat. Phone is still 100% stock with the exception of unlocked, rooted, and s-ff. I even installed the apps that are removed when unlocking. Its strange to me for sure...I guess I will have to wait for a rooted, flashable update to be posted :/

I keep getting the same issue as the guy above. I flashed the RUU from Behold_This this morning and then when I went in to recovery it wouldn't let me do anything so I flashed Philz CWM and then tried flashing to have it fail.

It's not an ruu. You can't have a custom recovery. You must be 100% stock

That would be excellent, Fenny. Thank you.
I think a lot of us would like that. I want to go back to the stock feel of things, I only rooted cause of battery issues but they've seemed to have solved themselves and I am much happier with the performance of the device

Are you speaking about the stock Rom before the ota or a stock Rom with the 1.57 ota? Or a stock odexed do that we can accept the ota. If it is to accept the ota it would be best for it Not to be rooted. Thanks.

heh, happens :]
My understanding is that recovery stays in a separate partition and whatever you do to it does not affect getting an OTA, is that right?
Also, what if my phone is rooted using the Zerg exploit or whatever method, can I still get an OTA?
So basically I think my questions is, what ultimately decides whether my phone can get an OTA, or not?
if you are on stock ROM, you will get it just fine
but you might loose ROOT after it finish the upgrade
if you are on Custom ROM, you wont get OTA
You can get the ota even on a custom ROM. As long as you have the stock recovery.

How would you have a custom ROM with stock recovery? I've never rooted a Samsung phone since this is my first and I'm waiting to root it, so unless Samsung is different I don't see how.

I'm sure within a couple days there will be a custom rom with the new features. that's an assumption but its always been like that on other phones I have had. Hopefully that's the case with this phone also.
I have stock rooted ROM with CWM recovery, is that okay? Or do I have to have a stock recovery?

you will get the notification for the ota, your phone will download it but when it boots into recovery to flash it and its not the stock recovery, it will just give an error and you will probably have to pull the battery to reboot. i did this on the nexus s. if i remember right i never got the ota notififcation again either after it failed.
I know there are methods out there that can flash the entire phone back to stock (kernel, ROM, recovery) but that involves wiping everything. Is there a way to flash back the stock recovery only since I'm already on stock ROM and kernel?
Big thanks...
I wonder where it puts the update after it downloads it. Would be nice to grab it and maybe install without reverting to stock...

you can keep your phone more up to date by flashing roms as opposed to waiting for an OTA. galaxy s4g is still stuck on froyo. Epic 4g just got gingerbread.

Bootloader stays unlocked.
The bootloader on the T999 was never locked. Using any program to unlock the bootloader will brick the phone.
Must start from any stock ROM (rooted) backup root , click system update, restore root and your all done. Then download goo manager n flash twrp recovery your welcome

This is kinda required to get the OTA, isn't it?
If I understand correctly, the OTA will fail if rooted? Or is that it will fail if CWM/TW recovery is in place?

Thanks.. I thought it was one of those, just couldn't remember which. I may just hold off until I see what others are doing. I am going to look for a nice TouchWiz ROM that allows me to theme it.
Once the awesome Devs here at XDA get their hands on the code, it won't be long before we have a rootable Stock 4.3..
I've been wondering.
Do I need a stock recovery and a stock ROM to update or can I be running a custom ROM such as digiblur and update using stock recovery?

I'd just throw that under the "do not attempt" category. Odds are that while trying to apply the update, stock recovery would detect some assets that don't belong in your current build and abort the update. Also, if this update was successful and something messed up, you would now have no custom recovery. You would have to Odin back to whatever software version possible.
