Help > Phone wiped = boot lock - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I just bought my phone yesterday and already unlocked my bootloader, installed custom recovery (clockwork) and rooted.
I also downloaded VenomOne for my phone. MD5 Ok and copied to card
So i went into recovery and wiped the phone for a new rom which includeds /system
i then proceeded to install the rom checking all the options i want
problem is that the install failed and now im stuck on a boot loop. HTC powered by android
1) Can anyone please help me on how to flash back the stock rom (using ODIN or Flashtool or whatever is used for HTC Devices)
2) How do we hard reset our phone so I can try flashing or entering bootloader and recovery
Lots of thanks to you guys. I just couldnt help tinkering with my phone :'( too bad it didnt turn out well for me
Update 01:
tinkered with the phone and managed to guess how to hard reset. problem is how to flash the new rom or just the stock rom. hope you guys can help :'(
i also got these cause they might be needed

HTC M8 TMO Signature error 12 Can't get back to stock

I am fixing this phone for a friend. He gave me the phone with TWRP installed, and Bootloader unlocked with S-OFF ON.
I tried to relock bootloader to flash stock RUU_M8_TMOUS_1.57.531.7 and it fails with error 12 bootloader signature verification error.
Then relocked the bootloader and got into twrp. Nothing will mount. The phone won't clear cache, Data, system , Dalvik or anything else.
I tried to restore a nandroid backup and it fails. Literally everything fails, and all fastboot flashes end with error 12.
What is the bootloader signature verification error 12? Please help me, I'm kinda stumped.

Unlock the bootloader, adb push the correct nandroid backup to the phone. Fastboot flash the boot.img and perform a full wipe and restore the backup.
Cause you're S-ON you can't flash an older HBOOT onto the phone so the RUU will fail

[Q] HBOOT Boot loop NO recovery, NO factory reset

HBOOT BOOT LOOP (DIDN'T SEE THE AUTO CORRECT SORRY
Hello.
Last night i was following instructions to go back to stock on a TMO RUU. I had relocked my bootloader via fast boot command. After i re locked the boot loader my phone won't boot and will only loop in the Hboot screen. Anything i choose via the power button only restarts the phone to end up back at the same screen.
I tried to unlock the boot loader again via HTCdev but received this error:

why not mount the internal storage (in recovery ) and try another rom?
what recovery do you use?
using twrp recovery, tried mounting and flashing rom in recovery, always get rom installed successfully but it never boots ( i flashed the boot.img before flashing the rom) i guess the problem is my old hboot version 0.95, so i tried upgrading it by rebootRUU flash firmware, here is when i hit the main version check failure. found a flashable zip to change main version but that didnt work.
any thoughts?
update: its not bricked!! tried installing an ICS rom and it worked just fine. now what can i do to run JB?

As my phone was rooted and had twrp recovery installed i need to flash a stock recovery image, i found a 4.20.206.1 image and did the following....
renamed 4.20.206.1 to 'recover.img'.
Booted phone into fastboot then used the command...
'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'
and got the following
target reported max download size of 1826414592 bytes
sending 'recovery' (17020 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.559s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.737s]
finished. total time: 2.302s
then typed 'fastboot reboot'
device rebooted and then i proceeded to install and update the latest system update (4.20.206.2) after this the phone restarted and got stuck on the white HTC logo screen, left it for 10 minutes and nothing happened had to press and hold Power+Volume UP button to reboot the phone and now it get stuck on a black screen.
Any ideas on whats happened, i can still get into fastboot and have reinstalled twrp, what steps do i need to do next?
Your main problem is you have a rooted stock ROM and its binary was modified by root.
You need a non-rooted stock ROM like a RUU or a clean non-rooted nandroid backup.
Re-unrooted a rooted stock ROM won't work due to changed/modified binary.

You have the US Sprint version. US versions can't update OTA unless you are actually connected to that US carrier (in your case Sprint).
So therefore, yes RUU is the best way to install an "official" update.
You can find the Sprint RUUs here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
You can update right to the last version (Marshmallow) 6.20.651.3 without flashing any intermediate versions. You will however need to flash the 6.20.651.3 firmware before 6.20.651.3 RUU (requirement peculiar to US Marshmallow RUUs).
Instruction on how to flash 6.20.651.3 firmware are on the same thread as the RUUs.
Keep in mind that flashing RUU will wipe the phone. So backup any data you want to keep to SD or off the phone (cloud, computer) before doing any of the steps.

It won't "fix" the issue of not getting software updates OTA. It's not so much an "issue" as it is just a fact of the US versions of the M8.
But it also doesn't matter. The RUU I suggested will put you on the last version released by HTC (Marshmallow). There have been no updates since, and there will be no more updates.
Please help - Not able to do hard reset on HTC one M8 and looking the Correct RRU

I have a HTC one M8 and it is in vicious Boot loop, sometime it go beyond the lock screen foo few minutes but reboot again. I tried to to hard reset, recovery options etc. but it did not delete any data. All the data stays same though i tired multiple times. I installed the adb utility but it does not work when I select the FASTBOOT USB mode. It only works when phone goes beyond the unlock screen for a few minutes but phone boot loop starts.
FAST boot utility works with FASTBOOT USB mode and list the device when use "fastboot devices" command.
