I just encountered a strange problem. As I was listening to Google Voice Search kindly tell me the weather, the response sounded strange... "crackling" doesn't describe it correctly, but it sounded as if it was coming through a cell phone with bad reception. I then tried to play some music and it had a similar sound.
At first I was worried that after a good 7 months, the speakers on my GN10 had magically blown out.
But I reset the tablet and now it's fine.
Has this happened to anyone? Should I be concerned about it happening again (or more frequently) or shrug it off as a one time bug?
I'm glad to see the warranty is 12 months (and not 6 months as I originally thought), because I wonder if this is worth sending in to Samsung for repair.
It's not hardware it's a software issue since 4.4.2.
Yes, it is an issue since 4.4.2 and you don't need to reset to fix it. Just put the Note to sleep using the power button, wait 5 or 10 seconds and then unlock again. Make sure you wait the 5 or 10 seconds since it doesn't seem to work if you lock/unlock immediately. If it doesn't work the first time, try a few more times. It works for me and it beats rebooting.
I have the P605 version of tab. I've already ticked and unticked the mono/streo in accessibility but my output for built in speaker is still mono. Only the left speaker is functioning and the right isnt. For the headset, both produces sounds. I cant remember I installed something that have caused this.
Is this related to the 4.4.2 version?
I also have the same exact problem!
The left speaker of my Note 10.1 is not working but the right speaker is perfectly working.
I was so worried because there was a disturbing BZZZBZBZBZBZBBZBZ sound coming from my left speaker. I washed my screen with a few drops of water and I thought some got in through the speaker that's why it isn't working properly. I am so glad to know that this is a software problem and not my fault at all.
Will formatting really solve the problem? Thanks
I have a problem I have a Samsung tab A and on of my speakers are not working the other one is sound fine and when I have headphones in its fine but when I have them out the sound out of the speaker is not on but the other speaker is fine. What should I do ?

Hey Guys,
I have a strange problem with my I9192. From yesterday on I have no sound at all:
Neither on speaker, headset, headphone nor if its connected with bluetooth to a speaker.
I already made several factory resets and tried different other roms but no chance.
Did anyone here ever had a problem like this? I assume it must be a hardware fault but what can it be. Of course it would be easy to replace the speaker unit but as headphone of bluetooth don't work either... hmm...
Even the Microphone seems not to work anymore.
Everything else seems to be ok - just no sound at all :crying:
Thanks in advance for hints.
Cheers,
Axel
Did something happened to the phone?

nothing that i can remember. the phone was in the pocket of my trouser and as i took it out again it was calm.
the phone was running with SilviuMiks ROM and Kernel. I tried several other ROMs. (STOCK and CM11) but no difference. and yes... the phone is rooted.
the other thing i can see... when start a media player and play a mp3 song it runs approx. 10 times as fast as it should - but no sound at all.
cheers.

... and the strangest thing ... i switched the phone off yesterday and charged it. now i just turned it on again and the sound is back?!
i'm curious if it stays like it is now...
That's weird
but the problem came back after approx half an hour. maybe a thermal problem.
Hi all
Since installing HD revolution when someone calls I can't hear them but they can hear me, camera remote control and everything else working perfectly, if I put the phone on speaker phone I can hear the person from the bottom speaker, also when playing music it only comes out of bottom speaker. I have wiped dalvik etc still nothing and I have reverted to leedroid and insercoin roms still the same. When playing music on insercoin which I'm currently on it says cannot disable boomsound when using internal speakers and the option is blanked out which is strange, which leads me to belive that hopefully it could be software and not hardware.
Any ideas please guys?
My wife is having the same issue. (Running stock ROM)
Have you had any luck with a solution Maverick?
Anyone else out there come across this issue?
Thanks,

Really sorry for late reply, in the end no didn't get it working I think it was hardware related as I tried everything software wise. I decided to sell it on ebay few weeks back got £150 for it.
Sorry couldn't help anymore

No worries.
It has turned out to be a hardware issue with my wife's phone. The speaker at the top of the phone had given up.
It's with HTC now so we'll see what happens...
Just to wrap this up... Phone was away with HTC for around 10 days and has returned with both speakers working again as new.
V happy Mrs.
Hello everyone !
My M8 went mad today. It recognizes all headphones/earphones except the stock one that came with the device. The stock one works perfectly fine with all the devices except my M8. That sounds really strange, but it did happen.
I googled some forums and found that soundabout app on the play store could solve this issue by routing the audio to headphone jack. It worked.
I was tinkering with the settings of the app. I routed the audio to the earpiece(top speaker) only.
I'm somewhat skeptical that the top speaker now has less volume compared to the bottom one, when playing music/videos.
Does this mean that I have a partly damaged speaker ?
Also, can tinkering the settings damage the hardware(speakers) in any case ?
Thank you for reading.

I think that the earpiece speaker is actually less powerful than the bottom speaker. I use SoundAbout myself as I have an issue with one of my friends old stereo's. The phone doesn't recognize that I have plugged in the aux cable but it only happens with that stereo. So I have to use the SoundAbout app to change the setting to Wired Headphones.
I'm not sure if tinkering setting can damage the speakers, but I have damaged the bottom speaker myself by flashing one of the first CM12 nightly's that came out. The speaker is quite easy to replace yourself and same goes for the earpiece.
Hello,
I have nexus 5 with stock 5.1.1 not rooted.
I started to use soundabout because my phone didn’t recognize AUX-IN from my car audio.
Everything was ok for long time till yesterday.
Now, after I will use soundabout I can’t hear any call conversation. I need to restart nexus.
I am wonder If someone know some similar program that I can test.
Regards from Poland
Hello everyone,
My LG G3 is giving me a hard time, when I connect a headset, its microphone isn't working or it does but it's barley audible compared to the device's own mic.
The headphones part is working as usual and when the headset is connected sounds goes only through them like it should.
I've started using this headset a few days ago and it worked like a charm but then it's suddenly stopped working like it had been.
Fortunately I have another LG G3 on hand, so first I checked the headset with it and it works perfect.
So then I've replaced the 3.5 audio jack from the other G3 into my own to figure out if it is causing the problem and it is NOT,
since I got no improvement in my own phone and I also put MY jack in the other G3 and it worked there flawlessly with two different headsets.
I've been trying to record into / monitor with two different apps (lg audio recorder and another another one).
I've killed all apps running in the background. I've restarted numerous times, ran CCleaner to clear cache memories and whatever.
At one point a few days ago, maybe it was just before it started (and this might be a clue) the "plugged device" icon or "headset" icon on the notification bar stayed even after I've disconnected the headset and I think I needed to restart the phone but if i'm not wrong the headset kept working after that.
I was trying to find any kind of audio service to restart or anything like that but I didn't find any, I just killed them all to see if it helps.
I've also tried using "soundabout" app to try to force the audio path to the headset and played with some settings but to no avail (I disabled soundabout service after that attempt).
Right now I see no other option but a hard reset and I'm pretty sure it will solve the issue. but I hate going through backing up and restoring everything. and even so, who said this issue won't happen again? I've tried to search for an answer but found nothing like my problem on the web.
I just read something old from 2013 that mentions a bug in android audio. not sure it's related. something about "AudioPolicyMangerBase" (it seems I can't post links yet) from an app that had a switch to switch between headset mode or phone mode. but in any case it's no longer maintained. again, not sure it's related.
Update: Now I got no sound with two different headsets on the SECOND LG G3 as well. it seems messing with it around, plugging and unplugging messes with it's software somehow and maybe it locks the audio route in a way that it's can't work.
Any way to reset all audio ins/outs routes in the device?
I'll appreciate your help. Thanks a lot!
Roy.
Randomly out of nowhere my phone has started acting strange with the buttons on my headphones. Only occasionally does it skip songs like it's supposed to, sometimes it lowers or raises the volume instead and other times it does nothing at all. At first I thought it might be the headphones so I tried a new pair same problem. I tried reinstalling the software on the phone same problem. Tried using a different player app same problem. It never used to do this before and strangely works perfectly fine sometimes. Is anyone else experiencing anything like this and have any ideas or solutions? Thanks for your time ?

I ran into this on my prior phone (Droid Maxx). It turned out the headset port went bad...likely something got into it and damaged it or otherwise prevented a good consistent connection. You could try to see if there is any dust or particles inside the port and see if you can clean it out. Likely another reason Bluetooth headsets seem to be the way of the present and future....good luck!
